I was recently invited by a parent friend to attend DeMille's 10th Anniversary Celebration, and I'm so glad I went! What a joyful and inspiring event to see performances and energy from the staff and families, everything felt so warm and community-centered. It was also a wonderful opportunity to learn more about Westminster School District and the amazing programs they offer. My husband and I have been talking about starting a family, and after this experience, I found myself imagining our future child growing up in an environment where learning multiple languages is encouraged from such a young age. I grew up in Westminster and I'm an alumna of the Westminster School District. Now that I have children, I drive 20 minutes to school every day to keep them in the district. I know that my child's safety and academics are their top priorities. They really value and encourage parent feedback and participation at WSD. I have two boys that are currently in the WSD system. They both attended the dual language program at Willmore and they are already very fluent in the language! I know because I'm a native speaker myself but never got around to teaching them Spanish. My oldest is now at Stacey and continuing his studies in Spanish. Stacey is great also but they need to change the politics of who gets to be on the sports teams. I do appreciate the many after school activities my son can participate in. Finally, I'm an engineer that works in Seal Beach and I recently hired a wonderful Chemical Engineer from Cal State Long Beach who attended Sequoia, Stacey and Westminster High for her primary years. She's a true testament to how great the school prepares you for success. read more

My son has attended the WSD for the past 7rs. He has done the virtual program from 3rd to 7th grade. He had great teachers. My only problem is the district is not very accomidating to parents that work very early in the morning. The virtual program changed this year and we tried for paying for him to use the bus but he is not disabled or special needs. his mother is disabled and I work very early in the morning. Not sure why you can't offer bus servcie for families that are willing to pay for the year. He will be attending a different school path next year read more

My last child is still attending school with in the district his 2 older siblings have gone thru both elementary and middle school. My family has been part of the school district for 17 years. I have experience a lot of improvements over the years. Pros- They have created some amazing schools from dual languages in both Spanish/English and Vietnamese/English, a Gate Academy and other STEAM and AVID programs. This has been a huge improvement. With 3 Kids attending the district all 3 experiences have been great. The COVID services for after school lunches during stay at home and the transition from Remote learning to getting the kids back to classrooms have been great. We transferred from the Garden Grove School District where we live to take advantage of Willmore Language Academy's dual immersion and Spanish and coding programs. We love the sense of community at Willmore, which includes preschool dual immersion. My son and everybody, really, adores preschool teacher Ms. Alvarez and kindergarten teacher Ms. Weber. The new Principal Ms. Ellis is super approachable and knowledgable and hands-on. She really makes you feel like you are part of a team hyper-focused on what's best for your kid. Both of my kids went to WSD schools (Sequoia ES and Johnson MS). Our experience was ideal. The entire staff was warm and enthusiastic. On the occasions when I went to the office, I was greeted with courtesy. The schools were clean and safe. I could go on and on about the teachers. This is a top-notch school district. read more

This is regards to the transportation Dept, my kids takes the bus to home. Just the other day we had thought it'll be a normal day/time for the kids on the bus but that day our kids didn't get drop till 1 hour and half later ! The bus driver had picked up other kids from a different school (middle school) . Instead of just dropping the elementary schoolers first where they're just minutes away but instead went around to pick up other middle schoolers to drop them off first . I talked to the supervisor at the transportation dept & ask to why our kids was dropped off 1 1/2 hours later but I felt that he didn't sympathize at all. My son had to use the bathroom to the point he peed on himself. No kids should have to go thru that ! read more

The Westminster School District should stop telling students to clean up the whole tables and pick up trash on the ground during lunch time even it is voluntary. They should clean their mess only, not for other students' mess. Clean up is the job of the staff. In addition, the boys' and girls' restrooms should have paper toilet sheets. I observed; they are so dirty since someone does not clean after herself/himself. This is not good for others to use the toilets. Those are some of the concerns which school authority/staff should look into. read more
