JD's Plumbing & HVAC - Replaced crusted air bleed on heating system

Super fast response, very knowledgeable. He arrived when he said he would. Diagnosed and fixed the…read moreplumbing within a reasonable amount of time. He went above and beyond by reminding me to have the dishwasher installers put in a "high loop" with the dishwasher drain line. Reasonable pricing. Definitely recommend!

Sorry to say, I was really not happy with this experience, especially since all the other reviews…read morewere so positive. I was quoted a price of $275 to replace the wax seal on a leaking toilet bowl. When JD arrived, he removed the toilet bowl and replaced the wax seal. Since the toilet bowl still leaked he only charged us $100 and said that his partner would contact us because this was a more complex plumbing problem that he was not qualified to deal with and that such a problem could run into the thousands of dollars. When we did not hear from the partner within two days, my husband (who is not a plumber) watched some YouTube videos on how to do this. He removed the toilet bowl, and found that no preparatory work was done before replacing the seal. Every video that he watched said that it was extremely necessary to remove all of the old wax and any other debris. Additionally, the new wax seal required two longer bolts which he should've had on his truck and should have used. After purchasing the necessary products (wax seal and bolts) which cost less than $10, he cleaned out all the old wax and other debris, and then replaced the toilet bowl which is now no longer leaking.

Great National phone service call center. Seems professional and quick to arrive…read more Price gouging if they deem it to be en emergency but negotiable. However, the quality of the arriving technician seems to be crapshoot. The tech is nice, but was unable to fix my issue.... But he did not charge me full price so at least very honest. I called another plumbing company, arrived and was able to fix the issue immediately....... 3 stars.

DO NOT, under any circumstances, use Roto Rooter in Queens New York…read more First, I made SPECIFIC requests for their technician to NOT knock on the door, and rather to call my phone when they arrived - they did not do this and woke up the elderly mother of my landlord at a very early hour. Second, the technician Anthony asked me ONE question about my issue (a clogged shower drain) in which he asked if my toilet flushing causes the shower to clog, which I said no. He DID NOT look in the drain, he DID NOT look in the shower, and then showed me a pricing guide for a quote of $695 plus tax. When I confronted him about why he did not look in the shower, look in the drain, or ask me questions about the shower clog before quoting me a price, he got belligerent in voice and told me "I am the expert, you called me". I've had to have drains snaked before - they cost $100-$200 tops, or $300 in an emergency. Roto Rooter hires unprofessional and uncourteous people, and are predatory in their pricing quotes. Avoid.

BLUF: Knowledgeable, straightforward, efficient, courteous, expensive…read more A part in our boiler system was starting to go bad, occasionally making sharp noises and leaking lubricating oil. We used Yelp's Projects feature to look for contractors to help us resolve this situation. I added a picture of the part making unusual noises to my Yelp project request to provide some detail about the situation. Tom's Plumbing & Heating Services responded first. From my photo, Justin identified my malfunctioning part as the circulator pump, and after a few questions confirming that nothing else was wrong, Justin recommended that the circulator pump be replaced. He provided two options for circulator pumps, along with web links and total costs for each option, and a web link to my existing circulator pump for reference. I selected a pump with horsepower equivalent to my existing pump. The cost of all parts that Justin referenced were roughly equivalent on Amazon.com. Other vendors requested a complete picture of the boiler system, or had initial consultation fees. The service visit totaled roughly 90 minutes. In that time, Justin: - Replaced the boiler drain valve because it hasn't been used in many years and no longer worked - Drained my boiler - Installed the new circulator pump - Bled (i.e., removed air from) most of my radiators. Justin emphasized the importance of bleeding the radiators, as air in the system reduces the boiler's efficiency. - Demonstrated how to override the water pressure regulator in case of insufficient system pressure. - Pointed out other potential points of failure to monitor in the boiler system -- the water pressure regulator and expansion tank. Overall, we were very happy with the service provided. Thanks to Mike S. for his review, which helped in our selection!

I needed my bathroom faucet changed. I had gotten quotes from a couple of plumbers that told me…read moresince it was a pedestal sink they would have to remove the sink from the wall. The estimates I received were between $625 & $675. That was for labor only, supplies would be extra. I called Ed Ferry and was told they wouldn't know if the sink needed to be removed until they saw it. It ended up they needed to move the pedestal a little to reach behind it but they did not need to remove the sink from the wall. The charge for labor was about 1/2 the other quotes. The two men that came were very professional. They put covers over their shoes before entering and cleaned everything up before they left. I would definitely recommend this plumber.
