Unfortunately, this place did not meet expectations and this is a two star review. The reason I give 2 stars, and not 1, is Only because Ryan at the front desk was friendly and helpful as possible. Shout out to Ryan for giving us a pet friendly room next to the pet relief area, and the great conversation he gave on Ashland,Oregon recommendations. Other than that our stay here at the Best western in Ashland was not good at all. We had no hot water for the shower for the entire stay here. The hottest it got was barely lukewarm...we had to keep our showers under 5 minutes to avoid freezing cold water. This was so miserable, and I hope future guests do not have to deal with this. We called the front desk to advise them we did not have warm shower water; we were told staff had no control over the water temperature, and maintenance were the ones who controlled that issue. I knew from there we just had to deal with it for the next two days...and to mention our room had bugs, and the front desk couldn't even accommodate a 30 minute late checkout...Thank God we were only here for 2 days and have an Air BNB for the remainder of our stay. I definitely hope this location improves, and at the least fix the hot water issue. Overall, I most definitely DO NOT recommend this place. We will not be staying here again in the future...I would say support AIR BNB's, they're more accommodating to your basic needs. It served its purpose for somewhere to sleep out of the extreme heat. When you pay 500 dollars for a 2 night stay you would expect a better experience.

I really like this hotel. I'm sorry I didn't take photos of our rooms but I was so enchanted with the gardens that I got sidetracked. We stayed here for 3 nights in 1st floor rooms (our request) while we explored Ashland and it's surroundings. BTW - make sure to visit Jacksonville. What an enchanting little town full of wonderful little boutiques. We were very happy here, the rooms were what I expect in a clean, comfortable, up to date and quiet hotel and the gardens were so beautiful. A good Mexican restaurant is across the street and the hotel is very convenient to downtown Ashland. This will forever be our go to hotel when we are in Ashland.

Nice, clean & pet friendly | No refunds on bookings $$ We stayed here for two nights last minute. We were driving back home escaping from the fires in Santa Rosa. So, I first booked while on the road (on very little sleep because we were evacuated). Unfortunately, I had booked the wrong dates in November when I needed a room the same day in October. I found this out when I was checking in and was told I'd have to contact Expedia to have them cancel my reservation. No fees with Expedia, but Expedia later told me that Best Western's policy is no refunds even if you booked the wrong dates and stayed there anyway. So, I lost $109 for booking the wrong dates in November. Then, I paid $218 for the two nights I stayed. Just wish the manager could have allowed me to get a refund given our situation and since I still gave them business. // That's why I knocked off a star on this review. Other than that, this is a great hotel. Close to the gas station and HWY 5. Rooms are exceptionally clean considering it to be a pet friendly place. I didn't find any pet dander on beds and linen. Breakfast is popular! Eggs, bacon, fruit, coffee, tea, cereal, juice. Never had a problem with parking, but it looks like it can get more full towards the end of the night. We also ate across the street at the Luna cafe for a late dinner.

There were ants in our bed and all over the bathroom. The breakfast was terrible also, we went to a restaurant.

And we've stayed in various places before, including one night with our son, as guests in his room. But, we're staying here, because he & his family, are staying here, for a meeting, so we decided as a family to gather together in Ashland for hubby's Diamond Year! We're staying for 3 nights, including breakfast. I should rate this hotel 3 stars, for the following reasons: 1. The minute we walked in, I noticed how small the room was! How small? You ask. When you bend down, to rinse your mouth, & spit on the sink, your butt hits the wall. 2. You hold the flusher for the toilet, about 15 seconds, for totally flush down. 3. Cleaning lady, opened our room, without knocking, after 8:00am. She probably thought we're downstairs having breakfast! She wasn't supposed to come clean or make up our bed, for the first 2 days. 4. Peep hole on the door, made for people 6'-7'. I'm 5'2" and it's past my head! 5. Headboard is noisy, when you move. 6. The desk chair creeks! The first time I was alone, and I sat on it, I thought, the room was haunted, or a squirrel was knocking on the roof. I'm not exaggerating! That's what the noise was, I didn't know it was from my chair, until hubby told me about it. 7. You give your breakfast ticket to the lady outside the door, and you take a plate & bowl back inside the room with food. The 2nd day, there was no protein, (bacon, no eggs, or sausage), the children had bread, potatoes, fruit. Hard boiled egg, they don't eat! 8. The juice glass or plastic, is about 3-4 sips, it's so small! If you want more, you have to bring your own container to get large serving, or frequently get up and refill your glass. 9. Breakfast, an additional $5, pay in the lobby. 10. Make up stain on the sheet. I'm giving this a 4 stars, for the following reasons: 1. The lobby, the garden, stained glass, wrought iron impressive! (Took lots of photos) 2. The stairs, & the elevator all conveniently located easy to find & access. Never crowded. 2. The tallest building in Ashland, you don't need a GPS, just look for the tallest building! 3. The 8th floor, (son's family room) they got the corner, is so much larger ours. My 2nd son and us, he's on the 8th floor, and us on the 4th floor, same street view. Our room is the smallest! :( 4. The chair by my bed, was comfortably soft. 5. Love all my pillows, covers, and towels. 6. Friendly staff. 7. Very very clean, including the rooms. 8. Convenient parking. 9. Views beautiful, mountains. 10. Room comfortable temperature. 11. Walking distance, up or down, and we're both old, (not used to walking but we did!) to many of the sights, restaurants, creeks, park, Japanese Garden, Lithium Park. 12. Additional Note from 2nd son #1: It was great that I could charge my car in their parking lot. That's very convenient! Extra Note from 2nd son: he could hear noise from the street, on the 8th floor. I didn't think we could hear anything from the street. Total: But I can't just give a 3 star or a 4 star, so it's really in between!

TLDR: overpriced, bad rooms and they will rip you off with hidden charges…read more The morning after checking in here, I was summoned to the front desk and very rudely informed I was being charged a $100 per night pet fee. This was not disclosed during booking, even though we specifically informed them we were traveling with a dog. While pet fees are common, $100/night is frankly predatory. My fiance and I found the bed to be uncomfortable and extremely small. The room listed a queen bed. When my fiance asked if was actually a queen, the hotel staff was rude and dismissive. We finally measured the bed with a measuring tape and found that it was a 53" full bed, not a 60" queen - very difficult for two people to sleep in. The hotel staff refused to acknowledge their error, though they did eventually move us to a vacant room with a larger bed for our last night. However, they also charged me another $72.80 for this pleasure without telling me why. At no point did they apologize or offer any other compensation or offer to waive their unreasonable fees. Beyond this, the rooms were dingy and not what I would expect at this price point. Winchester does make a good (though not amazing) breakfast, but it is not worth dealing with low quality rooms, rude staff and predatory hidden fees.
