The table was set beautifully with a heavy linen tablecloth and sterling flatware. The 1883 Victorian mansion has been exquisitely restored & filled with lovely antiques. The service we received was warm and considerate. The various two pots were kept refilled with hot water and fresh water was poured for those who wished. Feeling fully refreshed, we would have dinner in the separately reviewed on-site eatery, then go into town to enjoy our show. Sleep was effective, and we were refreshed for our next big drive. If the pool isn't sufficient for your needs, there is also tennis, and easy access to a pizza pub and coffee cart. Need a reason to return! Only regret is not taking any photos, which will be undone on that next visit.

We were put at the back of the property in a VERY tired room. I will attach pictures. The room looks like all of the furniture came overly used from a thrift store. The layout of the room doesn't make sense. The "kitchen" is very poor, no dishes, pots or pans, no dish soap. The bathroom is very poor, the shower didn't have much water pressure, it felt icky! The towels are thin and small. All of this and in the small print on a piece of paper in the room tells you they don't clean the room unless you stay for 3 days AND request they clean it. We made reservations for this hotel 1 1/2 months before we planned to stay there. We were going to go to plays at the Oregon Shakespeare Festival. After we saw how poor the room was, we asked to move. There were not any other rooms available for the time we were there. We had stayed in another building at this hotel 4-5 years ago and it was nice. This is the reason we booked here again and we thought a "suite" would be great. It wasn't. We will never stay here again, so disappointing.

It was just private enough, since it is a bed and breakfast type setting, the owners live in a house far enough away for you to have privacy, and close enough to be able to ask questions. They recommended an awesome hike close by, provided everything we needed to be comfortable, and were easy to communicate with prior to our trip and during. It was amazing and I can't wait to go back! It is fragrance free, something that is almost impossible to find. You can find more info about that on their website. I think some of the products in the bathroom have natural fragrances, like the soap. The towels and sheets smell like no fragrance or perfume was involved in their washing. I am very sensitive to fragrances. They're very friendly and flexible about check-in. Breakfast is delicious, and they are flexible for allergen needs. I love staying here.

It is a 5 minute walk to Central Ashland with a well manicured welcoming park with walking trails and local activities. We spent 3 nights in the Normandy Suite with a French motif: the imported French furnishings, the decor all tie in to make you feel like you could be in Normandy, France. Every morning you are treated to a gourmet breakfast. Yesterday we started with coffee and a carrot, turmeric smoothie, followed by a bowl of sliced strawberries with a small amount of simple syrup and goat cheese. Then we were treated to blue corn pancakes with pine nut butter and thick slices of bacon. What a way to start the day! Limited parking, or you can park on the street in front of your suite if your are one of the lucky ones.a great place to stay. $$$$. It's owned by a woman named Lisa with long-standing ties in Ashland and other Oregon areas. For example, if you happen to visit the nearby South Stage Cellars for a wine tasting (which you absolutely should, but that's another review altogether), you'll see a mason jar on their wall that contains dirt from the property owned by Lisa's parents. Back at Lisa's B & B, however, things run at a relaxed but very tidy pace. Lisa cooks breakfast herself - she also serves coffee professionally roasted by her son - and leaves you to sit with your dining companion but occasionally comes by for conversation and sometimes with an extra waffle. She's very nice without being overbearing. There are a lot of charming decorations around the main lobby (see if you can count all the rabbit statues), but the big draw is the rooms. We stayed in the Othello Suite, and we had a much happier time than any of the characters from that play. The room is just lovely. There's an old, gorgeous writing desk facing the street side of the house, as well as a small love seat facing the desk. For those times that your beloved wants to gaze longingly at your back as you compose fervent sonnets, I suppose. The bed is large and really, really comfy. But the main attraction in this room as well as a couple other suites in the house is the jacuzzi tub in the bathroom. Bath salts are provided - for sprinkling into your water, not for smoking - and you are free to zone out among the whirlpool flurries until 11 at night (because the jets make noise). There's even a cube cut into the wall next to the tub that things such as wine glasses can be placed in. Also pretty baller: The fireplace also serves the bathroom. "Othello" is about envy and the way it poisons thoughts. And you should be very, very jealous of the time I spent in the Othello Suite. But never fear, you should stay here, too!

(2 weeks later, she has begun to miraculously recover but is completely blind from the brain damage.) With great reluctance, we decided to cancel our trip - something I've never done before with a planned vacation. I emailed Alicia and asked whether she would consider partially refunding the cost of our stay (including $100 that we had paid in advance for breakfasts). She was completely unsympathetic to what has been the most heartbreaking situation in my adult life to date, cited needing to take care of her small business, and refused to refund us, even for the food we wouldn't be eating. Summer lodging in Ashland is incredibly busy and in high demand. I'm certain she was able to re-book at least some of those nights on extremely short notice. So Morical House doubled down on their revenue for those nights, and we incurred costs for a Bed & Breakfast (and extra costs for breakfast) at a place we wouldn't be using, on top of thousands of dollars of vet bills. Even our airline, with their rigid policies, was more forgiving than that. If we do make it up to Ashland later this summer, pre-baby, we won't be re-booking here.

My wife and I have just left the B&B without the breakfast we have been looking forward to. It was impossible for us to stay after the way we were treated by the house manager and then the owner. Last night when we checked in, we asked if we could have our dog in our room and were told what we expected to hear: dogs were not allowed in the room. So we made alternative plans - the dog would spend the night in the car with food and water. We went out on to the deck at the edge of the garden with our dog and had dinner delivered - beautiful view of the valley. We went off to our play and took the dog with us and returned about 12:30. We left the dog in the car and headed up to bed. The next morning my wife woke me up saying she had been treated very rudely by the house manager. Very angrily, she told my wife that no dogs were allowed on the premises. My wife tried to apologize for what was clearly a misunderstanding, but the woman refused to hear her. Instead, she repeated that dogs were not allowed and that we had been clearly told this. My wife was shaken up, and since this woman was the one serving breakfast, I decided to call Alicia to clear up the misunderstanding. However, Alicia was just as rude if not more, refusing to let me speak and yelling at me on the phone. She swore she watched us take the dog up to the room the night before. When I tried civilly to point out that we had done no such thing - we had been out at the play - she raised her voice again, "are you calling me a liar?" In so many words, yes I was. We didn't expect our dog would be allowed inside and knew in advance our plans to keep him in the car. If I had intended to be dishonest, I never would have asked. It's always better to ask forgiveness afterwards than to ask permission before. She told me that she had clearly stated we weren't to bring dogs on to the premises. I tried to point out that we had only understood that dogs were not allowed in the room. She yelled at me about mincing words, and said that if I wanted to discuss it with her attorney I was more than welcome. Hence the problem for me: aren't bed and breakfasts supposed to be welcoming? Here I was at a loss - clearly there was a misunderstanding, but rather than being treated civilly, we were yelled at and treated disrespectfully. They would not validate the fact that we understood events differently - even the simple fact that we never had the dog in the room! So a word of caution: stay at your own risk. If you might happen in to a disagreement, you won't be treated respectfully and you cannot expect good customer service. At the end of the day, they don't bank their business on whether or not you feel welcome.
