This was our first trip to Ashland and boy what a grand time we had. We left the San Francisco Bay Area bright and early for what proved to be a splendid weekend on our Harley Davidson. Pat greeted us at the door upon our arrival, showed us around the house and lead us to our garden room. When we went back outside to grab the bags off of the bike she followed us to have a look at our iron stead. I was so impressed that she had offered us the use of their personal garage to keep the bike safe and warm. We were totally blown away. Let me tell you the best part of whole trip was the breakfast. From the fresh fruit plate, to the fresh baked muffins, followed by a wonderful egg dish. We were both stuffed by the final course. Did I mention the coffee? The coffee was delightful. Freshly ground and brewed to perfection. I didn't even miss not having my daily dosage of Starbucks. We were joined by four other couples whom had been coming to this B&B for many years. They all made us feel as like we had been friends for years. The conversations lasted well beyond the scheduled breakfast hours. Thank you Pat and Tom for an amazing weekend. We can't wait to return next year.

It has a huge Willow Tree in front, a pond with ducks, a gazebo with a beautiful garden area and pond with fish, and is just so well done. We watched deer in the morning while we ate our breakfast! Lisa was so nice and took good care of us! Cookies when we arrived, a handwritten note, truffles in our room. Super friendly and helpful when we arrived. Every detail was so wonderful. There is a pool also but it was closed due to the weather being too cold but I'm sure it's amazing in the summer. Parking is good also. The inn is not too far from downtown and they offer a delicious breakfast as well. We had apple cider crème brûlée and sweet potato hash with chicken apple sausage. Good coffee too! Overall we really enjoyed our stay and will definitely be back to this lovely and charming place!

It's owned by a woman named Lisa with long-standing ties in Ashland and other Oregon areas. For example, if you happen to visit the nearby South Stage Cellars for a wine tasting (which you absolutely should, but that's another review altogether), you'll see a mason jar on their wall that contains dirt from the property owned by Lisa's parents. Back at Lisa's B & B, however, things run at a relaxed but very tidy pace. Lisa cooks breakfast herself - she also serves coffee professionally roasted by her son - and leaves you to sit with your dining companion but occasionally comes by for conversation and sometimes with an extra waffle. She's very nice without being overbearing. There are a lot of charming decorations around the main lobby (see if you can count all the rabbit statues), but the big draw is the rooms. We stayed in the Othello Suite, and we had a much happier time than any of the characters from that play. The room is just lovely. There's an old, gorgeous writing desk facing the street side of the house, as well as a small love seat facing the desk. For those times that your beloved wants to gaze longingly at your back as you compose fervent sonnets, I suppose. The bed is large and really, really comfy. But the main attraction in this room as well as a couple other suites in the house is the jacuzzi tub in the bathroom. Bath salts are provided - for sprinkling into your water, not for smoking - and you are free to zone out among the whirlpool flurries until 11 at night (because the jets make noise). There's even a cube cut into the wall next to the tub that things such as wine glasses can be placed in. Also pretty baller: The fireplace also serves the bathroom. "Othello" is about envy and the way it poisons thoughts. And you should be very, very jealous of the time I spent in the Othello Suite. But never fear, you should stay here, too!

She made sure to provide all the little personal touches that make staying at a B&B so special. From the bath salts provided in the bathroom to fresh baked cookies to the port and sherry provided in the living room, we felt right at home and well taken care of! The bed was one of the most comfortable beds we'd ever slept in and the breakfast was delicious! We stayed for only 2 nights and wish we had stayed longer! Thank you, Lisa!

(2 weeks later, she has begun to miraculously recover but is completely blind from the brain damage.) With great reluctance, we decided to cancel our trip - something I've never done before with a planned vacation. I emailed Alicia and asked whether she would consider partially refunding the cost of our stay (including $100 that we had paid in advance for breakfasts). She was completely unsympathetic to what has been the most heartbreaking situation in my adult life to date, cited needing to take care of her small business, and refused to refund us, even for the food we wouldn't be eating. Summer lodging in Ashland is incredibly busy and in high demand. I'm certain she was able to re-book at least some of those nights on extremely short notice. So Morical House doubled down on their revenue for those nights, and we incurred costs for a Bed & Breakfast (and extra costs for breakfast) at a place we wouldn't be using, on top of thousands of dollars of vet bills. Even our airline, with their rigid policies, was more forgiving than that. If we do make it up to Ashland later this summer, pre-baby, we won't be re-booking here.

In short, we have had wonderful experiences at Morical House over the past 5 years, and will likely…read morecontinue to make this our goto place to stay when visiting Ashland. Alicia runs a great B&B on grounds that is small enough to be considered cozy, but large enough that you aren't bumping into other guest all of the time. While everything is top-notch, I'd have to say that her welcoming nature and her outstanding breakfasts are what keep us coming back each year. She does some really inventive (and delicious) food pairings, and is more than happy to accommodate any food restrictions. As an example, this morning's breakfast started with fresh figs topped with blue cheese, toasted almonds and touch of thyme. We usually stay in one of the downstairs rooms in the separate structure near the rear of the property. They come with an incredibly spacious bathroom, fireplace, small kitchenette area, and a window bench to curl up in. There's wifi and a TV, if you need to stay in touch with the outside world. Or, if you prefer, there's usually a small selection of books to read, should you just want to have a reading adventure.
