This was a top choice for us as we were traveling with a medical device. It's nice to be able to park right in front of the door so we could wheel it right in. We were pleased with the room and very pleasantly surprised by the large, indoor stainless steel hot tub. The indoor pool, hot tub and exercise area were nice and clean and had plenty of towels available. We did not attend the outdoor pool but it looked clean also. Room amenities included a brand new Keurig, plenty of choices of coffee pods and Wolfgang Puck Coffee Valet accoutrement. There was a fridge and microwave. The grounds are expansive. This is much larger than it appears from the street. I don't know how many rooms they had but its very deceiving from the street. The complex is huge. I was so pleasantly surprised at the quality of the rooms here. It's a BIG old style motel where you can park in front of your door. I was skeptical after staying in a lot of pet friendly hotels across the country. The rooms are updated with nice plank looking tile, a nice bathroom dressing area as well as a separate bathroom. They are BIG, clean and have comfortable pillows (I really NEED comfortable pillows to sleep.) We just got here after a 7 hour drive so I haven't tried the breakfast yet, but I'm very happy. 4 stars is only because it's not a luxury hotel, but it's obvious they take some pride in the place. read more

We really enjoyed our stay here. There is another BW very close by and it's a much newer, upscale "suites" property. But this older motel suited us just fine. The desk staff was excellent. We are diamond select customers so they upgraded us to a very nice, two room suite. The room was out of the way, very comfortable and very quiet. $144 is a little high for a basic room (which is what we booked) but we now feel we got very good value with the complimentary upgrade. The grounds are lovely and the property is on the main drag but somewhat out of town so not much pedestrian traffic. The last two BW's we stayed at were pretty bad so it was refreshing to once again be in a nice motel. The place isn't all that fancy but not run down either. Depending on what you prefer, you'll either like this place a lot or not so much. We liked it a lot. A great staff (which is what you have here) can overcome a not so great property..... but an amazing motel cannot overcome crappy staff. read more

First, the good. The location is great. Far enough off the main drag to provide peace and quiet, and yet a two-minute drive. You can park right outside your door, making for easy unloading and loading. The room was clean and the staff was friendly. The pool area is very nice. Now for the 'not so' good. This place requires a serious remodel. Everything is old and dated. The room had a musty odor and the A/C failed to bring the temperature down below 71º, and it was only 80º outside! Welcome to the world's smallest toilet; short and small, don't know where they found it. And, they're using the coronavirus to limit everything from room service to breakfast without adjusting room prices. You have to ask for clean towels, fresh soap, toilet paper, and anything else you might have expected. Breakfast is an apple, a granola bar, and a pre-packaged muffin. Rooms were just OK. This is an older property but they've been well maintained. Good parking areas - close to the rooms. They have 2 pools, one inside and one outside. We liked the indoor hot tub that was part of the indoor pool house. Bed was nice and comfy. Room AC/Heat was easy to adjust. But the real reason why I chose to rate this as 4-star is the included breakfast. During the warmer weather, they have a lovely, covered, outdoor dining area. There's an indoor area as well but it is so much nicer outdoors, weather permitting. The breakfast service is very generous with the typical cold cereals, pastries, fresh seasonal fruit, breads, toast, muffins, bagels, hot oatmeal, coffee, juices, hot chocolate, etc. But, the real star of this showcase breakfast buffet is the "made to order pancakes." Cole is the pancake maker. He made us perfect pancakes each morning and we had a choice of plain, blueberries, nuts or anything else from the buffet breakfast area. You could garnish it with fresh fruit, whipped cream, jams, syrups, honey, etc. Cole was the perfect gentleman and a helluva pancake cook! And, he had a winsome personality to boot. I liked him so much that I tipped him and gave him a hug the last morning of our stay! That's how much we enjoyed the breakfast. This is one of the best breakfasts we've ever had 'on the road' and that includes breakfasts that we had to pay for. For the record, this is really not a hotel; it's a motel with doors facing outwards to parking spaces. With that said, I was grateful for this since this hotel sprawls. Having your car parked outside your door is very convenient. I can see how this is a large property to maintain; maybe it's why one of the buildings is for sale. Overall the room was clean, and I liked the layout. I liked how the bathroom has a shower stall (albeit small) with a tiled wall instead of just a plain door. The room had a mini fridge and microwave. Free WiFi was available, but it was down for quite some time while I was there for a night. Perhaps it was just my building, since the front desk gal said it was working where she was located. Nonetheless, she took $15 off of my hotel bill as a consolation by lowering the rate, which was very nice of her! Breakfast was okay. It reminds me of Hampton Inns, which do not have stoves, but ovens to heat all hot items. In fact, the omelette at this Best Western looked exactly like a Hampton Inn, so I would not be surprised if it was the same setup. Options included yogurt, breads (bagels, toast, English muffins, etc), cereals, bacon, omelettes, canned fruit, etc. Somehow I had enough points stored for a $50 gift card, and I do not stay at Best Western often, if at all. I may have stayed here MAYBE a total of 6 times back in 2012 or 2013 when they used to have promos for stay one or two nights, get one free. So, it seems you don't need a lot of stays to obtain viable points, which is nice. Best Western will also status match against any hotel chain (Hilton, SPG, Hyatt, Marriott, etc), so take note before you check in. It's very easy to fill out a one-page form in advance of your stay (must be approved via Best Western corporate office, not local hotel)! If I came to Cody, I would stay here again. There is another Best Western in town, but I am okay with paying $30 less to stay at this property. I was only here for one night and needed a place that was a straight shot from the East Yellowstone Entrance, so this hotel worked for me! This motel has the 1950s styling with all the modern conveniences. It sits on a long narrow property right off main street; therefore, almost none of the rooms face the main street and the ones that do are buffered by the lobby, The property has two courtyards which gives guests some room to walk around in a nice environment. All the rooms are on the ground floor, and you park right outside your room, which is very nice. The grounds and buildings are in good condition. The lobby is medium size with a sitting room and the breakfast room on either side. There are no luggage carts available to move luggage. The sleeping room size is larger than typical and is nicely appointed. There is a coffee maker, fridge but no microwave in the room. The beds are comfortable. The room has a nice central electrical outlets/USB-A hub on the desk so can charge your electrical devices. Breakfast is served in a room off the lobby. It is a little on the small side, but they have lots of counter service area so you are not crowding to get food. Seating is adequate since they have a sign that you can sit in the sitting room off the lobby and outside on picnics tables. Breakfast consists of egg, bacon or sausage, & biscuits. No waffle maker. They have fresh fruit in a basket. Cereal, toast, and yogurt are also available. Whole blueberries and raspberries are available to top the cereal or biscuits. The front desk is friendly and helpful. This is a great motel for vacationers since it has a guest laundry with 6 washers & 8 dryers with a change machine in the room. And the machines are very affordable with washers $1.25 and dryers $0.75. read more

Lovely hotel that has been in Cody for decades - this 60s style motel's rooms have been completely refreshed to provide all the modern necessities in a classic setting. I booked an accessible room while traveling with my parents and found the room to be excellent - spacious bathroom, good sidewalk with curb cuts for access from the adjacent parking. Beds were comfortable, rooms, were clean, and the wifi worked well. We had a small patio out a french door where we could enjoy the good weather and fresh breeze. The pancake breakfast on the veranda adjacent to the lobby was a nice touch. We also made use of the coin-operated guest laundry, which we were quite grateful for after a few days on the road. read more

This was booked through my AAA agent. When I pulled up I was worried. It's an older style motor inn where you drive up and park outside your room. It's right off the main road going out to Yellowstone. However, we had a great visit here and would return. Staff was friendly. The place is bigger than it looks. We got a room by the road and were worried it would be loud with the motorcycles that go through. It was fine. Room was clean and looked updated. Bathroom was laid out weird though and felt super small. They had laundry area, outdoor pool, playground, indoor pool, indoor spa(was ice cold??). We felt safe here even with the door being outside instead of a hotel indoor type setup. The free breakfast was good. Everyone seemed to go though and it's busy. Hard to get a table. But they set up trays in the lobby to help with this. Good food and plenty of it. It was only a few miles to the rodeo. Easy place to find. And on our path to get to Yellowstone. This was a very nice relaxed place to stay. The have a large campus that was well manicured. The hotel had two swimming pools and a hot tub. The outside pool changed colors at night. All were spotless. The beds were pretty good but the pillows were a little hard. I finally found one that was softer and went right to sleep. It was clean and spacious. We were looking for a room that could accommodate a family of 6 and our room had 3 queen beds. That was great. The breakfast was a full breakfast with BACON. My personal favorite which is very hard to find. We came in while the rodeo was going on. It was full but we had plenty to eat and they had put up extra setting in their sitting area and outside. It was one of two Best Westerns in town. The other was more upscale and modern and it's a hotel. This one was a motel so your car was parked directly in front of your room. It was very reasonable for its location just outside of Yellowstone and for what we had. It was 214.00 plus tax in June during a rodeo. That is value. When we come back this way we will stay here. read more

Room was very clean and they are taking COVID-19 very seriously. We had the 2 double beds and it was plenty big enough for the two of us. Bathroom was very big. They have done away with the ugly bedspreads and are now only using white blankets and sheets that can be bleached. Smelled very clean also. I will definitely stay here again. I have stayed in $300 a night hotels and my room was cleaner than some of those fancier hotels! The rooms and grounds are pet friendly and I even had help watching our new puppy while I got coffee. All the staff were super friendly. I would have given them a 5 star but the fan in my bathroom was in obvious need of repair. They offered to switch our room but because of the close proximity to a grassy area we opted to stay where we were. Thank you Sunset Inn for making our stay a memorable one. read more

We had been on the road for nearly two weeks and we were hitting every confirmed hotel reservation with ony two to go, until we got to Cody...I jinxed myself! I had made a reservation at the BW Ivy Inn (a few blocks up the road) for 7/18 or so I had thought. It's a beautiful newer multi story hotel on the main drag. It was a long drive that day and we were happy to pull into the hotel to check in. It all went down the drain when to my horror, the gentleman at the desk said that we missed our reservation that was for 7/17!!!! and that they were sold out for the night. Panic set in knowing 1) this is the East entrance to Yellowtone and that we might not be able to find a room and 2) we lost $233 for a missed stay :( The clerk was so nice and understanding and he offered to call their sister hotel right down the road the Sunset Motor Inn and held a king bed room with a rollway for us. He said we would have to talk to the manager about getting a refund for our missed stay. Fortunately, I had all of my paperwork and itenerary back from Feb 2014 when I booked. It was a total error on my part. We hustled over to the Sunset Motor Inn and asked for Karen, the manager. She was the best! She said the most she could do was comp us for that night's stay and we graciously accepted. Karen hooked us up with a 3 queen family suite that was beyond awesome! As road trippers, here's what we loved about this place.. - if your on the 1st floor you can park right in front of your room. Made for easy access to our truck for organizing, etc. There are only two stories so even if you're on the second floor, you still have very easy access to your vehicle. - The room was perfect for us. Our 11 year old son was overjoyed to have his own queen bed instead of a sofa bed after a week and a half! - Beds, sheets and and pillows (this is the biggest plus in our book) we're the MOST comfortable in all of the hotels we has stayed in so far, hands down. No, joke. And there were plenty of pillows. I always have to call for more, but not this time. - A/C worked like a charm in both rooms. - Nice clean bathroom. -AWESOME pool!!! There's also a small jungle gym/slide area for the kids by the pool in a park like setting. -Road trippers!!! ALERT! The biggest and best guest laundry room I have ever encountered at any hotel. 6/7 washing machines and dryers. No need to camp out in the laundery room at this place. And at a great rate! -Good FREE breakfast. The usual hotel fare. Bagles, eggs, sausage, muffins, yogurt, ceral, etc. I'll never complain about a free breakfast! -Free wi-fi worked great. Very noisy on top of a very smelly room. When I booked the reservation, I specifically requested for no pets and non smoking room. What did they give me? A smelly room that choked me all night even with my allergies medicine. When checking out, I believed it was the manager who asked me how was everything. When I told her about the smell, she said , "Oh?" Did not apologize or anything. Unacceptable! I am not even looking for anything but an apology goes a long way! I rarely leave a review for a hotel, but had to for this place. Everything was booked it seemed for the Buffalo Bill auction, except this place. It was clean, bed was really comfortable and the pillows were great. I travel about 45 weeks a year and stay in some really nice hotels, and my wife and I couldn't get over, for a motel, how nice the room was. We will stay here next year for sure. One negative, the walls are THIN, so you will hear everything if your neighbors are loud. Thankfully we had some ole' blue-hairs on both sides that crashed about 10pm so it wasn't an issue. But if the folks next to you stay up late, it could be a problem. But overall, great value! Didn't eat breakfast here. If it's free, don't complain. Thought it was funny some folks complained about a free breakfast at a motel. Seriously? What were you expecting, breakfast at the four seasons. Silliness. read more

We're passing through before the season kicks in full swing so we were able to get a great deal on a room. -Free wi-fi -Fridge in the room to store your booze - *clean*. I like my own sleeze but no one else's. My suggestion, when they tell you the rate, ask them if they have anything cheaper, even if it means one bed (smallest is queen) and a small room. WiFi went down twice over my stay of a week. I wore white socks in the room and the bottoms turned brown from the carpet (gross). It's like a motel; but spread out like a condo complex. The fitness center is very subpar. The room also has a bit of an odd smell. I usually love Best Westerns for the cleanness and friendly staff- which this had but with a motel feel. My husband and I just finished a road trip... we only stayed at Best Westerns so we were able to do a good comparison. This one is #2 on our list and the only reason it is #2 is that the #1 Best Western hotel (in Missoula, MT) had free chocolate chip cookies and a larger breakfast area to accommodate all the guest - we ended up having to go back to our room to eat (not a big deal to us, but something to note). We don't have a bad thing to say about this hotel - DEFINITELY RECOMMEND. My husband even saw the benefit of it being a "motel" - great for loading and unloading car (fyi... no second for this motel) If we are ever in Cody again we will be staying here. read more

Excellent service!!! We went on 4th of July weekend. We pay $170 per night. When we got into the room. The room was clean. They have everything you need microwave, fridge, swimming pool, spa , wifi.... So $170 is reasonable for me.(for 4th of July weekend) but when we tried to get out from the room the lock was broken. I called front desk right away. They were very helpful. 4 people came to fix it from 9 pm till 11.30 pm. I felt sorry to them that they need to fix at that time almost 10 pm. After 2 hours fixed everything was good. I was so impressed with the service. By the way they have good breakfast. I recommend this hotel to everyone. read more

However the fees were not clear when we told them we had pets we were not told our total did not include the pet fees and we had spoken directly to the hotel to make our reservations. Front desk said the manager was the only one that could fix the pricing and never got the manager for us. Went to the lobby for coffee and breakfast waited 15 minutes and never got coffee. They were not prepared for a crowd of guest at 8 am, When I said something to the front desk she didn't seem to care. Said their coffee maker can't keep up with people. The motel room was all right but the service attendant in the breakfast room did not do her job. She didn't even remain in the breakfast area, but instead stood staring out a window in the lobby. The pancake making machine read-out said the pancake mix was out and that no pancakes could be made until the bag containing the mix was changed, so I went to the lobby and told the attendant, who was still staring moodily out the window, that the machine's bag was empty. "No it isn't," she retorted in an irritated tone, but she then came back to the breakfast room with me. The machine still said it was empty, so the "attendant"squeezed the last few drops out of the bag and took out the bag to replace it. When we left the motel, i stopped at the desk and told the young woman on duty what had occurred. "Well," she replied. "Things are slow." Evidently when things are slow it is all right for the breakfast room attendant to abandon her duties and to be rude to motel guests.
