This is a chain hotel, but it has enough personalized touches to make you feel like you are staying a local boutique. They offer deals that come with sparkling wine and sticky candy from local places. I stayed here in Dec 2024. It was not a 5 star hotel but it was more than adequate. Check in was fast, easy and the staff was friendly. The room was exactly as advertised on their website. It was clean, quiet, comfy. TV was large, easy to work, no issues at all. Bathroom was nice, clean, had everything you need. Bed was clean, comfy, no issues at all. Parking was free and abundant. Location was close to downtown so it was convenient. They do offer $5 voucher towards a meal at the restaurant about 20 feet from the lobby so that is a nice touch if you have time to eat breakfast at the restaurant. 2nd time I've stayed here in 2 months. Older hotel but clean and comfortable. Front desk is very nice and friendly. Enjoyed the restaurant next door for a quick bite. Hotel is right off of 101 but you don't hear it at all. What you do hear is all the construction truck drivers warming up their trucks & yelling across the parking lot in conversation. I usually travel w/ a pair of earplugs & of course I forgot them. Ugh!!!One major plus is this Best Western has places to charge electric cars. Not just Tesla plug in but one that my Audi could use. Stayed here to be close to our daughters wedding venue.in Paso Robles, this one was one of the middle range motels in the area. Being a popular wine country destination the hotels could be a little pricey. We were pleasantly surprised. The hotel is older, however they have refurbished the rooms, the grounds were tidy and clean as well. Our beds were comfortable, everything was clean, had different little items available. Variety of toiletries, coffee, coco, extras. They also provided $5 off per person to the restaurant next to them. If you don't take advantage of the special they provide a goodie bag to take with you. Nice touch. Staff were all friendly and made you feel welcomed. There's no doubt that $140 per night is quite a deal for Central Coast lodging. Granted it's a Best Western, not the Madonna Inn, but Jamie W. and I don't need a working waterfall when I flush my toilet anyway. It's located on the busiest stretch of roadway in Paso Robles, which is saying a lot since the rest of the town feels pretty mellow. Our bargain nightly rate got us a clean King suite that felt pretty dated and tired as it was dominated by a muddy brown sofa and faded green carpet. There is a swimming pool, a moot point during the wintry weather we were experiencing. It all reminded me of my dad's road trips deep in the last century. We had a very nice simple room, Very clean, Definitely big enough for an overnight stay, Plenty of coffee, tea and hot Cocoa, Great air conditioning system, Beds were comfy, Microwave and nicely working refrigerator. During this visit we decided to upgrade to one of their deluxe rooms which really gives you a lot of extra space which is appreciated. Comfortable and convenient to the 101 and 46 highways. This BW+ offers a nicely appointed facility that is within short wqlking distance of several of the areas restaurants. Friendly front desk staff, were all professional and helpful. Checking in was only a couple minutes. A King room, right across from the pool and gym. Had all the amenities one expects while travels, the bed comfortable and the shower provided plenty of hot water and decent pressure in the morning. The room very clean and quite. A Heated pool and hot tub, with a comfortable outside interior courtyard area for you to sit and enjoy the day or evening. STAY AWAY!!! This place is committing fraud! This is a cheap motel charging hotel prices. Our room smelled of cigarettes, the shower was clogged and hadn't been cleaned from the last person so the last guests' shampoo and soap scum was still all over the shower to the point where we couldn't even shower. There were stains all over the carpet and construction workers drinking in their trucks in the parking lot. Your door faces outside to the parking lot because THIS IS A CHEAP MOTEL but somehow had the audacity to charge us $320 a night. We wouldn't have agreed to stay here at that price knowing that this was a motel. They don't even have a lobby it's just a room the size of a closet where they give you a granola bar in the morning as breakfast. Since they don't have any food they offer $5 coupons to the diner next door .. as if $5 can buy you anything more than a coffee. The definition of a 3 star hotel online says they should have a kitchen onsite and additional amenities but this place doesn't even have that. They are committing fraud by posing as a 3 star hotel and trying to charge hotel prices. I asked management for a refund and if they felt it was acceptable that we couldn't even shower during our stay and according to our front desk girl she thought it was acceptable!!! To not be able to shower paying $320 a night!! Unbelievable!! Do yourself a favor and stay at the wineries nearby, they charge the same price as this dump but actually have decent management and amenities. read more

I just LOVE Paso Robles! People talk so much about Napa but (sighs), I am just not a fan like that anymore. You want to take ya' girl to a good winery, take me to Paso Robles, baybee! My GO-TO room is a King Suite with a jetted tub! Don't sleep on this hotel, baybee! You will not be disappointed! The Best Western Plus is one of those hotels I will ALWAYS stay in when coming to the City. Located right off the freeway and next to a Grocery Outlet and good eateries, this hotel not only is nestled in the PERFECT place, but they also offer the best benefits when staying here. Benefit 1: OMG, The ROOMS! Can we just discuss the rooms really quickly, please?! Make sure you ask about the Jacuzzi bathtubs baybee. Those rooms are to die for. When I come here, I want nothing less than the Jacuzzi bathtub. Grab me a bath bomb and some bubble bath with a glass of wine and ya' girl is in HEAVEN! Benefit 2: The Hot Tub! One of the BEST hot tubs that I have seen and been in at a California hotel! They even allow us to stay longer if it's not too busy. The customer service in this place is just a damn gudt! But wait, we'll talk about customer service later on. But the Hot Tub is one of the BEST and is near the swimming pool so it's perfect if you come with family who also want to swim. It's also jetted and lasts a while so enjoy it! Benefit 3: The PARKING! Yes, I usually come with a huge 4x4 and are at times always trying to find other hotels. I tried to call the hotel but no one answered so went through Best Western customer service. They tried to call the hotel but got no answer. Then later that evening customer service got back to me to say this location says I was a no show so they would not refund me. How is it ok, when they wouldn't answer their phone. Since this is a Best Western Plus, my expectations were a bit higher. The staff were friendly, but our room was outdated and dirty. The microwave still had handprints all over it, the kitchen (microwave & fridge) was in the bathroom. There were dead insects, mirrors were dirty, fridge needed to be defrosted, etc. Our view was......wait we didn't have a view. I thought that being a Diamond member would have provided us with some type of upper tier, but I guess that I was wrong. I was very disappointment. On arrival, I found toilet paper in the toilet, giving me the impression that it was never cleaned, or had been used before I arrived and not cleaned. In walking to dinner, I left through a gate that had a sign that the gate would be locked after 10pm. when I tried going through it at 8pm I found it locked, and when I reported the same to the front desk, instead of an apology, they gave me an excuse. I was also dissapointed to discover that even though when booking, I was led to believe there was a breakfast served (via pictograms in your services menu), when I asked where breakfast is served I was informed that there is a $5 voucher given for. a restaurant nearby. I want to give a shout out to the front desk staff and housekeeping. We checked out last Sunday, 3/16 and realized when we arrived home that we had left a few items in our room (321). I called and described the items and promptly received a call back that the items were found and that they would be mailed to us at our home. The items arrived securely wrapped in bubble wrap safe and sound. I do a lot of traveling and I truly appreciate the staff taking the time to find our items and mail them back to us. I will definitely stay here again when visiting Paso Robles. read more

There is nothing really wrong with this motel, but I feel it is definitely undeserving of the designation "Plus" within the Best Western chain. Here are my reasons why: First, the motel is basically a simple standard motel. I thought it is definitely in need of refurbishment, as the furniture in my room was dated and quite worn out. Second, they did not offer the usual self service breakfast that is typically found in the other motels within this chain. I received an email from them a couple of days prior to my arrival notifying me that I had a choice of a $5 credit at the adjacent diner, or I could have one of their "grab and go" breakfasts available in the lobby. I reviewed the menu at the diner, and based on the prices they were charging, the $5 credit would probably cover not much more than my tip. Also, I didn't want to go through all the time and hassle associated with a sit down waitress served breakfast. Therefore, I opted for the "grab and go" breakfast. It included a bottle of water, a small packaged muffin, a small apple, a stick of mozzarella cheese, a cereal bar and two candied mints. I would estimate the total value of this breakfast was probably somewhere between $1 and $1.50. In all, I felt the place was clean and comfortable. I just feel that it is undeserving of the "Plus" designation by Best Western. read more

My beef isn't with BW its with Priceline that advertises this place as a 3 star motel when it's actually a 2 star. For a 2 star motel it's decent but I wouldn't book again. This place is a dump. It's old and very dated. I was happy that I was able to check in early from our 5 hour drive but was so disappointed in the room. Priceline really screwed me with the express find out where you're staying after you book deal. It's nonrefundable and they won't even give me a credit. I'm not quite sure how this place has such high reviews. We paid $204 for this dump for Saturday night and the same price for Allegretto for Sunday night. I know weekday travel is cheaper but I'd rather have paid more money to stay somewhere that is comfortable. With that being said La Quinta and Holiday Inn Express are both very nice accommodations on a budget and they were only about $40 or $50 more for our 3/5/22 stay. Bellesera is amazing. Best Western is close walking to dining but I have a car and I'd rather be in a nicer room. The area is kind of sketchy as I saw urban campers out and about. Hopefully the car won't get broken into. The lobby had individual wrapped apples so it seems they're taking covid precautions. I will never EVER stay here again. I thought a Best Western Plus would be nice, gee I'd hate to know what the regular one looks like. I thought I'd never stay at a La Quinta but the one here in Paso is truly upscale. It took awhile for our heater to work but it doesn't heat the bathroom so it was an ice box upon entry. read more

This is a great place to stay if on a budget for wine tasting, however, see Tori C. 's review, as the same thing happened to me. Room 325, sitting on the bed, 12:15 am, and the closet light came on by itself for about 15 seconds, then turned itself off. It freaked me out, but I was too tired to ask to change rooms. It's very eerie to see that light come on because the closet door has slats, so it has this inside glow. This place gives new meaning to we'll leave the light on for ya. Update: upon further inspection, there is a motion sensor inside the closet, so if you get close enough, it comes on. That doesn't explain why it came on while I was in bed, but it's a possible malfunction explanation. It's also a bit creepy. Why put a motion sensor in a closet? Also why does it pick up motion outside of the door with the door closed? read more

So glad there was a pleasant and helpful employee who picked up the phone and saved me from sitting in my car with my kids. I called 3 other hotels to see if they could get us in for 1 night as I had just driven several hours and was tired. All of them sounded grumpy and told me to call back after 3 pm. It was 1030 am when I was making the calls. When I called best Western, Marina picked up. She Immediately said she could help and got us a room within minutes. She was friendly, social & very personable. As I checked in she told me about the discount at the restaurant next door, offered me coffee and explained the grab n go breakfast. The room was perfect! Clean and need were comfortable. It has a fridge and microwave. Pool was heated, too. This will be my new place to stay, thanks to Marinas proactive actions and attitude. Thank you! read more

We stayed two nights here before heading over to Cambria. The hotel is unpretentious, very clean and quiet despite being quite booked up. You can tell there's pride in ownership. The room was ultra-clean and very comfortable with bed & bedding being so soft & cozy. The room was large with a jetted bathtub! Haven't seen one of those for a while. The location was perfect. Just a few blocks from downtown Paso where we dined on amazing farm to table food. A real treat! The hotel contact we had gave us a local tip to visit the Sensario installation nearby. THAT was spectacular. We are very happy to have had some time to explore Paso, some of the local wineries and local dining. I was truly charmed by this town and would definitely book another stay here at the Best Western Black Oak. read more

We stayed one night at this motel. The room was clean and had the normal amenities. We appreciated the free EV charger. But we heard an annoying sound all night and could not figure where it was coming from nor what caused it. Around 5 am we saw a large cockroach which we killed and then 2 more. A very nicely appointed room after a late night check-in is always appreciated, and this property did not disappoint. The single king room I had was spacious, easy to adjust the temperature of the room, and had an excellent shower. The shower stall was extra wide and the water pressure was fantastic, which made a great start to my morning. All the plumbing worked as it should, specifically meaning all of the drains drained, which isn't something you find at every hotel that is as old as this one. The rooms could use some updating on the decor side, but it felt very comfortable and everything was functional. I stayed here as part of a work trip, but I will definitely stay here again with my family if we are ever in the area. There are several restaurants nearby for easy walking, and it is centrally located. Great job, BW+ and staff! read more

I'm giving this two stars instead of one because of the centralized location. That said, I would never stay here again. I've stayed at a lot of Best Western Plus hotels over the years. They're my go-to. But this was on par with a cheap motel rather than the experience you expect from a Plus. The room (214) had issues before we even entered. At the door, there was a washcloth left over from the previous occupant. And it had something brown smeared all over it. Upon entering the room, I was hit by the smell of stale cigarettes. This is supposed to be a non-smoking hotel, and as someone with severe allergies to smoke, I was not happy to be smelling that. But, after a day of wine tasting, and an evening pick-up party to boot, I was exhausted and just wanted to sleep. So I let the smell go rather than hassling with changing rooms (it was around 9pm). Then, as I started to unpack my toiletries and walked over to the bathroom sink, I was greeted by not one, but two baby cockroaches. Plus hotels all include breakfast. I've never stayed at one that didn't serve a hot breakfast. This hotel offers a grab and go bag with an apple and a bunch of junk food in it. This hotel is a good place to stay for the money. I booked a Grapeline wine tour through the Best Western and was given a great package rate. Check-in was easy and they let us stay in a room on the top floor. The room was nice and clean. We had no issues at all. The only reason I gave this place 4 stars is because the bed is really hard. The hotel is located within walking distance of a few small food places and a few freeways. As of right now, the sauna and jacuzzi are closed because of Covid. Would I stay here again? Yes it's a good deal if you want to save a little money and spend it later at the wineries. read more

Not sure if this is the best hotel value in the area, but it did the job just fine after booking based on some searches from the phone that afternoon. It's a big U-shaped building, plenty of parking. Uber drivers know to come around past the lobby to get ya. Right by the road but not too noisy. A/C did the job like a champ without being too crazy noise. Beds were a little too hard, but not bad. Plenty of good pillows, nice soft sheets. The in-room coffee coulda been better, but you can say that about 98% of hotels. They use these weird two-cup coffeemakers here that pour half a cup into each of two cups, so make sure to load both sides or coffee might go everywhere. Price was fair, staff were nice. This was just for one night but I'd keep this on the list if I come back for a longer stay in wine/beer/food country here. read more

We usually stay at the La Quinta but they were booked. Best Westerns run the gamut and this one is at the better end. The room was clean, good TV and the parking was plentiful. The pool looked great and it's next door to a cool center with a Starbucks and some great dining options. It would be a great place if you're traveling with kids or if you're just looking for a place a short drive from downtown Paso. The front desk person was very friendly and helpful. i was given room 215, first floor, when I checked in a 6:00 pm and I was awoken at 4:30 am and every 10 minutes thereafter because of people filling their ice chests from the ice machine out front. This is a nice motel overall, but the entry door had gaps below and to the side of it that helped let the noise come through. I would have asked for a different room that evening if I had thought this might be an issue. I explained why I had a sleepless night when checking out, was told the ice machine was brand new, and that they were sorry for that. Maybe I was given this terrible room because I purchased it through Priceline. Also, lots of creaking early in the morning from the floor above when that person woke up. made for an exhausting next day! read more

I won't be able to find the words to write the perfect review this Hotel is worthy of, so I'll keep it simple and short. I've been on my own since the age of eighteen. Thirty two years now to be exact. And during those years, I've stayed at hotels & motels ranging from the dumps in the slumps to those rooms that the Jones' could only dream about. In comparison to every place and room I visited both here and abroad, this hotel rates and ranks right up there within the top 1%. Everything from being right off of highway 101 freeway to, the courtesy rides back and forth to the Paso Robles Airport. I'd say yeah, this hotel ranks in the tops. Other little things I thought made this place a five star were: An actual opening window in the restroom. 10 outlets. And when I say 10, I mean "free" outlets that were not devoted to some other appliance. Full sized bottles of complementary water. The hotels close proximity to some of the best eateries I've dined at in the last year and the unselfish, eager to help and please attitudes of each and every staff member I encountered during my stay here really make this place worthy of a five stars. read more

My stay at Best Western was OK, not great but not horrible. It's about what I expected from a typical BW motel. On the plus side, the staff was very pleasant, there was a microwave and refrigerator in the room, and AC worked extremely well. On the minus end, carpet was a bit grungy and gross, drunk/rude guy next door had his door open and he's screaming on the phone, plumbing in the bathroom needs service, water was backing up into the tub. WiFi is rather slow but it is free, and it cuts out and causes you to restart your device. The motel is located in a central location so access to nearby wineries is convenient. If you're just looking for a place to crash while you tour Paso Robles, this isn't a bad lower cost option so you can save more money to spend on some bottles of wine. If you want a nicer place to stay, La Quinta a few blocks north might be a better choice. read more

Central location and near Hwy 101. Ample parking. Everything was clean and felt comfortable and secure. The pool, hot tub, workout room, etc. was all very nice. The room was spacious with a fridge, microwave, etc. - comfortable bedding. Strong cleaning chemical when we first got there but aired out easily. There is no breakfast here and the coupon for the adjacent diner is only for breakfast hours. There is coffee, tea, hot chocolate, and filtered water in the lobby for all hours. The facility was clean, but one could smell the cleaning liquid that they use. It wasn't a bad odor, but it wasn't like an air freshener either. The beds are the weak point. They're a bit on the soft side and they have a memory foam topper that makes for a very hot sleep experience. All of could think of were all the thousands of people who slept in this bed before me and all their sweat beneath me. The pillows are cheap as well. It was like sleeping on a bag of kitchen sponges.
