My husband and I recently spent a week in the Great Lakes area; we stayed at the Best Western Bridgeview Hotel and enjoyed our time there. We were traveling with our cat, and finding a pet-friendly hotel that was also cat-friendly was a challenge. We were so happy to find the Bridgeview; from the moment I called to make our reservation, it was a good experience. Kathy at the front desk is a GEM; she made our reservation for us, and was so friendly and welcoming that we knew we'd made the right decision. She was at the front desk when we checked in, and helped us out with restaurant recommendations and some information about the area. She had worked very hard to find just the right room for us: first floor near an outside door (for easy load in and out), away from the pool (which could get noisy), and toward the back of the hotel (away from the main street). We really appreciate her attending to our requests so thoroughly! The hotel layout radiates into wings, so a map to guide our steps back and forth from the common areas was very helpful. The layout also allows for parking that is literally steps from the nearest outside door. Each door is labeled with a letter of the alphabet, so you can't get lost. Our room was clean and comfortably sized for our needs, with two queen beds, a bureau, work desk, microwave and refrigerator and flat-screen TV. In addition to the office chair, there was an upholstered chair (that our cat immediately took possession of). The toilet and tub/shower were separate from the sink and closet area (in the European model), which was very helpful when getting ready in the mornings. One thing we missed was an inset soap dish and/or ledge for our toiletries in the shower. I spoke with the hotel manager during our check-out, and recommended they investigate soap dish/ledge options which can be incorporated into the tile surround of the shower. This would be a definite boon for travelers. Having an inset soap dish at the sink would also be very helpful. The location of our room was fairly quiet, although we could hear our neighbor's TV/music at times through the wall and any higher levels of noise in the hall. The bed was very comfortable, and there was a selection of pillows to choose from for a good night's sleep. In addition to Kathy, we appreciated Danica at the front desk, who, with a smile, took care of so many questions and requests during our stay. Tina in the breakfast room was the soul of hospitality, always greeting us in the morning and working hard to ensure that all the breakfast items were fresh and in plentiful supply. Every staff member we spoke with was very polite and kind. Breakfast was a full hotel breakfast; in addition to beverages, cereals, breads, pastries, and fresh fruit, they offered egg dishes, breakfast meat (bacon and sausage alternated), and make-your-own waffles. The location of the hotel was ideal for our exploration of the area; it's situated just one block from the I-535 bridge crossing over to Duluth, and right on Hammond Street for easy access to Superior's downtown area with shops, restaurants and bars. Despite its downtown location, the area appeared quite safe and was well-lit; while we were there, we saw many patrons on the streets and sidewalks. The indoor pool was centrally located; we didn't get a chance to use it, but it always appeared clean and the surrounding area was kept tidy. There was also a jacuzzi and plenty of pool-side seating. The exercise area was sufficient for our needs; they had an elliptical trainer, treadmill, stationary bicycle, and standing weight machine as well as free weights available. The hotel has a business area which offers two terminals for internet access, connected to a printer. The entire hotel is wi-fi accessible and the service is free; it is a secure network with a password. Another recommendation would be to install at least one public bathroom in the hotel common area, so that guests would not have to return to their rooms to use the facilities. This is an older hotel, and some patrons may notice some dated design, but the carpets and furniture are newer and clean. The nautical elements are delightful, from the tugboat-turned-gift-shop to the portholes, ships' wheels, and other boating memorabilia tastefully displayed. If you're traveling to the Duluth-Superior area and are interested in a homey, mid-range hotel, the Bridgeview is for you! We'll definitely make reservations here the next time we return to the region. read more

My kids love swimming so we rented a poolside suite. The pool area is nice but the room not so much. We got the suite cause we needed the pull out bed. As you can see in the pictures, it could not be used because it was broken and would not pull out all the way. Questionable stains on the couch and the carpet and the ceiling is falling apart. Couldn't flush the toilet at night cause it's louder than a 747. Fridge was warm. We told them about the broken pull out and they just offered to move us. We had a lot of stuff in the room and it was not worth moving. Could have offered some money off the room. read more

We were on a 9 hour drive home and our car starting having issues ( on a Saturday) , so we were stranded till a shop could open Monday ... Monday morning we added another night to be safe if our car wasn't ready . Turns out our car was ready a half hour after check out . We contacted Expedia to see our options as we booked this hotel through them . I have in a chat that Expedia would cancel with hotels permission. I walked down to front desk and was explaining the situation... the manager Michael said no we will not cancel this reservation ... I again explained the situation thinking maybe he would have some sort of compassion, But No he again repeated himself in a very rude tone ... I said Wow and walked away . I called best western customer service and they even tried to talk to the manager to see if they could make an exception. NOPE he stuck to his decision. DO NOT STAY HERE !!! read more

The rooms were dirty. The room appeared not to be vacuumed. There was dirty and crumbs along the edges along the floor. In our bathroom there was dirt around the edges of the room. When I was going to the bathroom I noticed something shiny in the corner of the floor - it was 2 pieces of broken glass. I didn't even want to take a shower because it felt so dirty. Our bedspread had a big coffee like stain. When I removed one of the blankets from the one of the beds there was crumbs. It appeared as if they didn't wash the bedding, but just made the bed. Good thing I brought our own blankets. If it wasn't for a non-refundable room and us being with a large group I would have left. I would not recommend this hotel unless you are ok with messy floors, bedding, and bathroom. The only positive thing was the large pool area for people to hang out at. read more

We are Best Western diamond elite, so we are very familiar with the brand. This is the only Best Western in the area so we decided to stay here. This is an older property. We paid $185 a night here for a Friday night mid-October stay. It was peak fall color and MEA weekend, so all rates were high in Duluth/Superior area that weekend. The pool area looked good in the breakfast. Service was decent. However, the property in general is showing its ago. The door to our room was pretty banged up and stuck when you tried to open or close it. The bathroom tub needed a good cleaning. I would stay here again if nothing else was available, but that's about it. read more

We recommend a room next to the indoor pool. The outside of the building and immediate surroundings seemed a little sketchy when we first arrived but the interior was inviting. The Definitely needs some TLC. Smoke Free hotel. However when we arrived the front desk lady was right outside front entrance smoking .. so that smell followed her in and lasted throughout the entire check-in process. ​yuck!!!!!!!! I stayed in this motel September 27-29 2023. I've stayed here many times before the pandemic. They have remodeled and the place looks nice. Upon arrival the room was clean. I left my room the 1st day at 730am and returned at 5pm. The room was not cleaned. Called the front desk and asked when the room would be cleaned. Was told no one was available at that hour. The same thing happened the next day. I was not please at all! Especially when I paid a premium price for poolside suit. When I checked out at 7am. I was unable to find someone to do the check out. This hotel's room and bath were tidy and clean. It looked as if they had remodeled and replaced flooring and tile. On certain days in the evening, a little buffet of snacks and two adult drinks each is offered. It's nothing fancy but saved us from going out for a light evening meal. First of all, this hotel has seen some years pass by before it. BUT they are doing what they can to update and become more modern. When we stayed, the whole pool area rooms were being updated and renovated. The price and staff really made up for a little bit of dust and construction. The staff were super friendly and talked to us like they were old friends. The breakfast was great, huge selection full of premium options like waffles, eggs, sausage, cereal, fruit, etc. The room that we stayed in was clean and nicely updated. We really liked the nautical theme throughout the place. Yes, it was a little dated and kitschy but it fits well within this shipping harbor city. It is also nice that this place is right off of the bridge that connects Duluth and Superior so you can get anywhere in the Duluth area quickly and effectively. read more

Work PREPAID my room, yet when I got to the counter I was charged $160.00 when it should have been only incidentals. Went back in to ask for an immediate refund and the manager Kathy or whatever had a nonchalant "we are human we make mistakes" kind of attitude and pretty much told me you're sh*t out of luck and it depends on when my bank returns the charge. She laughed it off like it was no big deal. I will NEVER recommend this place to ANYONE. We travel to Duluth dozens of times a year..... this will not be a hotel we ever book at again. Okay it is what you expect for a older hotel, the decor a bit outdated but the very friendly staff make up for it.. We stayed 2 nights here on our summer trip and the room we had was what you call a suite for them since we were traveling with 6 of us. Our room was very clean and the beds were really comfortable as well. Our Daughter and her friends loved the pool as much they did the Free Happy hour with snacks and 2 free cocktails ( I liked the cocktails) The Free Breakfast bar was really good as well, loved the coffee, bagels and of course the Waffles were so yummy and all the toppings they offered. The staff were so friendly and helpful every time we had a question or recommendations for places to see and visit while we stayed there. They have a very small gift shop that offers everything from souvenirs to food to be eaten in room or by the pool If we ever do a trip back up that way to Lake Superior, we are so staying here again read more

Hotel has bugs. I was bit all over my body by some type of bug while staying there. I think they are flea bites. I had my infant son with me too. Really hope whatever bit me didn't follow me home... told the front desk and they just said "sorry we'll clean the room" we paid $150 a night... Total total rip off. This is a good place to stay while in Duluth Superior area. There is a pool and the rooms are along it, which makes for a busy, noisy place on weekends, but it's great to bring kids here. The breakfast is good, with hot dishes. On some evenings, there is good food served near the pool. Along with beer and wine. The beds are comfortable, rooms are spacious. read more

They got mad at us for booking almost a year in advance for our holiday party, that's been there for 10 years and them over booking our rooms. The two front desk guys yelled back at us louder then necessary. When we asked where our rooms were and when they would be ready. Great hotel and accommodations. Anna, the general manager, was there to greet me and made sure I had all the information I needed for my stay. First walking in I was thinking "this is an older Best Western". We were greeted by two very nice young men! Our room was just what I expected since it was an older hotel. Nothing special! A little on the dirty side! There was hair in the bathtub and the sink wasn't very clean. The pool was great!! Kids liked that it wasn't real harsh on their eyes with chlorine. When checking in a group of staff members we're just out of sight and talking poorly about other staff. There is no bell and yelling hello didn't work. I had to physically walk up to them and ask to be checked in. Once checked in, walking to the room the floor was clearly not vacuumed in some time and was quite disgusting. There was also several laundry bags from housekeeping cleaning rooms all over the hallways. I also observed housekeeping throwing dirty linens and towels from the second floor over the railing to the pool area (disgusting!). The rooms do not have updated air conditioning units and it was impossible to get comfortable. The hotel is also smoke free, but the patio where you can smoke has the door propped open and fills the entire hotel with smoke including the pool area and rooms. This is by far the worst hotel I have ever been at and if I could recommend lower than one star I would! I couldn't even stay more than a few hours, I ended up booking somewhere else. I did get my money back without a cancel fee, but the experience overall was horrible! read more

This motor inn needs updating but our experience was exceptional! It started on arrival. I wanted to use a BW Rewards stay but did not follow the instructions on making the res and was going to get charged for the stay. BW customer service couldn't help me fix the problem but when I checked in the desk staff fixed everything and I got my free stay! Then the hotel hosted a cocktail party from 5-7!! Whoo Whoo! Bridgeview inn in Superior is not bad. I've stayed at Bridgeview on several occasions since 1992 every time I visit Duluth. They remodeled and cleaned the hotel up ov r the years. Only thing I don't like is the high moisture level because of the indoor pool and loud racket coming the pool area I can't sleep in. Other than that I like soaking in the hot tub next to the pool. I stay frequently at Bridgeview because i'm familiar with the place. read more

On 5/18/13 I stayed at the Best Western Bridgeview Motor Inn in Superior, Wisconsin (reservation 261861960 number) for a double bachelorette party for myself and my maid of honor (she's getting married one month after I do). When I checked in I signed my fiancé up, myself, the maid of honor and her fiancé. I told the front desk lady we'd have two more people stay but she didn't ask me to write them in or tell me they'd charge me more. We got ready, went to dinner, and then a party bus came to the hotel and picked us up. We were not being loud and none of us had been drinking. We went out on the down with our sober bus (party bus) and had fun, we returned to the hotel at 2:30 a.m., my maid of honor and her fiancé went to the room quietly. Then our two friends who were staying went to the room. Then my fiancé and I tried to go to our room, again all of us were quiet. We wanted to go to bed because it was so late at night. Well the front desk person, a middle aged woman we found out was named Toni, told my fiancé and I, "You can't stay here!" she had called Midwest Security (a rent a cop outfit that does security for the Best Western in Superior, Wisconsin I guess), two of their "officers" were there. I started getting upset because I had been drinking and I cried, she yelled at me and told me not to cry and to "knock it off". My fiancé told her we paid for the room two weeks before the due date and we had told them we were having 6 people in the room when we checked in and the lady working earlier didn't tell us to fill all the names out or anything else. She argued with us and was very rude, my fiancé asked her if he could have her name so he can talk to the corporate office and she said, "No I'm not giving that to you!" and she was not wearing a name tag. The next day we complained to Doug Perin, the manager, and he gave us (and this is laughable) $56 room credit - that's it, and he never even said sorry! To top it off, we called and complained to the corporate office to at least have them write Toni up for refusing to give us her name (the security guards gave us her name behind her back when she wasn't looking, otherwise we'd never have known who was working). They stuck by the office in Superior, WI's story and what the manager said and I quote, "They had 6 people staying in the room and only 3 were signed up to stay there. I refuse to give more then $56 in credit." WHAT? IT WASN'T ABOUT MONEY. THAT WOMAN TONI SHOULD'VE BEEN FIRED FOR YELLING AT GUESTS AND REFUSING HER NAME!!! I DON'T WANT BEST WESTERN'S STUPID MONEY. Anyhow they treated us very badly for no reason and made me cry on my bachelorette party night - without even so much as an apology. I'm never staying there again. read more

The landscaping and lobby/public areas are very nice. Especially the enclosed pool with beautiful live plants and tables/chairs very close to the dining area making it a great choice to eat breakfast. We had to change our plans and added a second night without guarantee of being in the same room both nights. When we arrived, the guy at the desk made it happen. Very grateful. I had just done some serious damage to my foot and had kept my husband awake most of the night before and they also accomodated our need for sleep with 2 queen beds, changing from 1 king. I really liked the clock being by the television where it was visible in the middle of the night. There was a refigerator in the room, no microwave. Breakfast is the usual fare. This is definitely an older hotel trying to update. But they are cutting corners on the room updates and it's diminishing what has been done well. A decorator would really help. As would updating the whole room, not just some of it. The bathroom counter was long enough (just 1 sink) for both of us to leave our bathroom stuff out on it. The carpeting is new, but the 'baseboard' part of it had been badly ended so that it looked like a lump of carpet glued on top-on the most visible end, so that I couldn't miss it. I really enjoy the minimalist look if it is done right but this looked stark and cheap. Missed the mark completely if that was the intent. The room was utilitarian and uninviting. One step up from TV police interrogation rooms. The things not updated that should have been are the moldy, visibly dirty a/c unit (smelled like mold when on), the shower/toilet room (the tile in the shower had very moldy grout, the ancient tub will never look clean and the ceiling vent was filthy), the mattresses have lost most of their comfy feel, and the room locking system (the room 'key' didn't work in the door-they reprinted them and they still didn't work properly. It shouldn't take a minute or more of dinking around with repeatedly 'unlocking' the door before it finally unlocks. And yes, we both know how to use them). One other thing to get 4 stars from me (5 would entail homemade from scratch food for breakfast). Tighten up housekeeping. The stairs leading to the exit door closest to our room had a lot of grass and dirt with gravel for 3 days. It just looked more ground in every day. That's just not cleaning. The bottom sheets were on the beds haphazardly, and didn't stay put at all, creating lumps with the loose matress pad. And the grout in the shower needs to be cleaned regularly-like every time the room gets used. I had to take off a star for the old moldy and a star for sloppy housekeeping. The lovely pool, etc didn't quite make up for one of them. The very nice housekeeper said they had just updated-referring to our room. Maybe I misunderstood. read more
