My chair was then quickly picked up and there was quoted a time of two weeks for the work to be finished and the chair returned. That timeline was shorter than quoted. My chair was delivered today and it is beautiful! We just had two bar chair cushions recovered. I was going to do it myself but found that the corners were difficult to do and needed professional help. We brought our own fabric but, in hindsight, the fabric was a little thin and we should have either bought fabric from the shop or at least gotten something thicker. I had 6 dining room chair seats (at least 60 years old) and one 40-year-old wing back chair reupholstered. They did an absolutely beautiful professional job; far exceeding my expectations. The dining room chair seats and wing back chair look brand new. You would never suspect they had been reupholstered. My only complaint is the new seat cushion on the wing back chair prevents my feet from touching the floor {LOL}. The furniture was picked up on May 25 and the job was completed on June 7, 2021. My 7 year old couch, which I love, had cushions that'd become worn, thin, and ragged. The couch itself was in great shape, but the cushion's giving up meant my wife and I were considering having to buy a new one if reupholstering these in the same material (or eerily similar) wasn't an option. I brought the cushions to Best Upholstery, and though they didn't have a good match for the material (a long shot at best), they let me know that removing a sheet of material on the back of the couch (if positioned against a wall and not visible) might work. And it did! I went home, taught myself how to carefully remove that, and brought it to them. Less than a week later, they beat their time estimate and I got to pick up my couch cushions looking as new as they did seven years ago! And at a terrific price to boot! Tne person who came to my house was very pushy. I reluctantly agreed to the service being done. The work was quick. My item was returned within a few days. The next day I was looking at my piece of furniture and discovered that it was damaged. I took pictures and returned to the shop to show them the damage. I was told that they would come by and repair it. I asked for an approximate day or time and was told that they would call me before they came. It has been almost two weeks. I learned about Best Upholstery thru their ad in a paper. I read the not so good reviews about the company. Therefore, when I called, I was very specific about what I needed reupholstered. I spoke with Sisi. I Send her multiple pictures of the chairs and when spoke with her, I wrote down exactly what the charges will be for the seat, back and piping. I was quoted $95 per chair plus fabric and pick up and delivery. However, when I went there, 45 minutes each way, (I took my own fabric) and also took an actual chair, she quoted $195 per chair claiming that there is more work than she quoted me earlier. I told her that I sent her pictures and I was very specific and now you are doubling the price. She said this is the price and walked away. I did not give her the job and do not recommend this business. read more

The lady (owner) was kind and helpful, she explained the reupholstering process and price breakdown. They have tons of fabrics to choose and different price range. I wish I had paid attention to the warnings about how aggressively the owner pushes sales. The language barrier is also an obstacle: Jae told me the price for the fabric I wanted was $3,700 and I said that was too much. I could buy a new sectional for less. He then asked how much I wanted to spend and I said $3,000. He said, 'okay, I'll take care of you,' and said that he'd come back to pick up the couch and bring less expensive fabric. But when he came back, he said this was the only nice fabric and that he couldn't do it more less -- and he already had my deposit. I felt like an idiot for trusting him. After much belligerence, he took $200 off. The couch does look good. But they also broke a light fixture when they moved the couch out, and Jae was very reluctant to pay for it. He said, "it's 100 years old." Finally I got him to agree to deduct $50 for it. I don't think I can buy one for $50, but I just wanted him gone. read more

Be warned! Their Web site boasts that they will come to your home and provide you with a free estimate, but this is a way for them to get into your home and bully you to commit. I waited for 3 hours on a Saturday for the rep to come to my place to provide me with a free estimate. When he finally called to say that he was on his way and that it would be about a half hour before he arrived, I rescheduled the appointment for 5:00 PM that Monday. I arrived to my apartment building after work at 4:40 PM on Monday. The Best Upholstery rep was waiting out front in a beat-up blue van and at that point had called me twice. He was annoyed that he had had to wait and told me that he had been waiting 10 minutes. I told him that the appointment was at 5:00 PM, so that although I was sorry he had to wait, I was actually early to let him in. He brought a limited selection of fabric books for me to look through (I was a little surprised that he wanted me to select a fabric in order to provide an estimate, but I figured that this was so that he could provide the most accurate estimate). When I couldn't find any fabrics I liked and asked if I could come to their location to go through more books, the rep told me that this was not an option because the showroom was "too far." When I told him that I didn't feel strongly about any of the fabrics, the rep morphed into car salesman mode, and I felt pressured to select a fabric that I wasn't too sure about. Because I figured it was only to provide an estimate, I picked a fabric type that I thought would most closely match what I wanted. After giving the estimate, the rep began to write up a ticket order. I told him (again) that I was waiting for another estimate from another company and that I would give him an answer later that week. The rep became visibly angry and told me that it was a hassle for him to park (I helped him park in the large loading area right in front of my apartment building, so this wasn't a hassle) and that he was ready to take the couch now. Whoa! He then told me that he was giving me a good price, and that I should go with the other company that I was considering, because he had exerted enough effort on me, after which he stormed out of my apartment. So much for getting a few estimates and selecting the best vendor! Unless you are very sure that they are the company that you want to go with, I would be very hesitant to give your service to Best Upholstery in Alexandria, VA. read more

I read the reviews before I went here and was warned- Jae came to my house and was pretty pushy about taking my couch with him but I had told him before he even came over that I was getting quotes from other upholsterers. The fabric wasn't delivered yet anyways. My couch is vintage mid-century and had been re-upholstered by the previous owner by Best Upholstery. The fabric was pink and had some sun fading but was in perfect condition and had been done expertly. Once the fabric came in I called him because he had the best price and I could clearly see his previous work. He came and picked it up and it was done and brought back to my house within a week. He also brought back all of my extra fabric. The upholstery job is perfect. It was the fastest turn around I have ever seen. It was worth the communication/cultural challenges to deal with him. At least in my experience he was very honest and fair. I will use Best Upholstery again. read more

They did a fantastic job reupholstering my antique wingback chair and refinishing the legs. It looks as good as new. They had a HUGE selection of fabrics in stock and to-order and helped me find a pattern that I loved. They stuck to their quoted deadline and promptly called me when it was finished. I drove an hour to get to this location going on the website pictures. I really wish they would have posted pictures of the actual store. It is dirty in fact some of the fabric had dirt marks on them. When I asked about the 5 and 10 dollar a yard fabrics I was told they were "over that way" Then when I brought up 10 different bolts (I'm doing a boho couch) I was told the prices were 25-30 a yard. Some of the fabrics are ones you can get at Joann's with a coupon for 10 a yard. It was a terrible waste of drive and true disappointment especial since I need a number of yards to complete my desired effect. Please go in with caution!
