We were in town to see our son graduate Navy Bootcamp and we saw this Pho restaurant pop up while looking for Thai food. It did not disappoint! Huge portions, affordable, and delicious. The pho came with fresh basil, onions, cilantro, peppers, and the noodles, broth, and meat were plentiful. The staff strive to give you a great experience and are quick to recommend items if you are indecisive. Overall, if we're ever in Chicago again this will be a return stop! read more

Pho is delicious. A big bowl of noodles and slurpable broth with delectable meats piled high. This place is just *chefs kiss* I've been here numerous times and the customer service is always A1. Depending on if you are here for lunch or dinner can affect how fast your service is but one thing is for sure; you will always be taken cared of. I've ordered in house and for take out and my orders have never been messed up. The interior is cute, a bit small but it can fit a good number of people there. The employees are nice and fast with their service. My go to order is a regular eye round and brisket pho alongside a side of fresh shrimp egg rolls. The pho portion is huge, lots of good condiments including fresh lime, bean sprouts, fresh basil and extra chili oil. The noodles are tender and plentiful and the broth is super hot, flavorful with tender brisket and eye round steak that is tender. It's always really, really good. The shrimp egg rolls are always fresh and just refreshing when I bite into it. The shrimp is large and juicy and the veggies are fresh and crunchy. It's never a miss when I ordered this. You get two large rolls but they can easily be halved and split if you're with a bigger party. In summary, this place is tasty, refreshing and yummy! I would highly recommend this for those of you fellow Pho lovers out there! This place is great and the price is reasonable. read more

Ordered steak pho lunch special takeout order. Was unaware the steak would be raw before you add the broth to it. I personally didn't like that method because the broth wasn't hot enough to cook the steak to my liking. Along with the steak, the noodles were not as soft as I typically prefer. I ended up putting my pho on the stove to cook a little bit more. Once I did that the pho was great. I'd come back but next time try dining in. read more

The food was good, but the customer service was absolutely terrible. The hostess/server was extremely rude and dismissive toward me from the moment I arrived. When she was taking me to my table, instead of walking me over and handing me the menu normally, she tried to shove the menu into my hand. She also gave water to people who came in after me while I was left waiting. Throughout the entire interaction, she was very rude, short, and seemed to have an attitude toward me. At the end of my visit, she literally snatched the receipt from me. I did not leave a tip because of the way I was treated, and her behavior afterward only made the situation worse. What bothered me most is that I couldn't help but feel like I was being treated differently because I am Black. I watched other customers receive much better customer service, which made the difference in how I was treated even more noticeable. The food was good, but customer service matters just as much, and unfortunately, the way I was treated completely ruined my experience. read more

Great pho, and plenty of beef that goes with it. Service was also fast and friendly. The overall ambiance is welcoming. The soup was a bit too salty for me, but still a five out of 5. Def coming back when I am in the neighborhood! read more

Best Pho U - Large standard pho - Vietnamese Near Me - Vernon Hills, Illinois

I'm always game to try a new pho location near me, so when we heard Best Pho U opened we naturally had to try it. We came by for dinner one night, the restaurant is located in a plaza right by where the old corner bakery used to be. There's plenty of parking any time of day. Once we entered we were immediately sat. We ordered the spring rolls and rangoons to start. The spring rolls were filled really well and were really good. The rangoons were crunchy and standard to others we've had. I ordered the special pho while my husband ordered the noodle bowl with egg rolls. The pho broth wasn't too bad, it was a huge portion and I had plenty to take home. Overall the pho wasn't bad, but still not quite mom's cooking. It's definitely one of the better ones in the area so we love that! They also have a full bar and boba tea. I had the traditional milk tea, and it was a bit too sweet but with all the other savory things it made for a nice dessert treat. read more

Best Pho U is the best Pho for me! Generous portions for comparable prices. We ordered food for pick up and thoroughly enjoyed our meal(s) in the comfort of our home. The pho was packaged neatly and still piping hot after transport. I appreciated how well everything was tightly arranged in a box so any spills would be avoided. The salt and pepper fried chicken wings looked as if they were injected with growth hormones. They were thick, big and meaty. The vermicelli with the lemongrass marinated pork was as expected- very tasty. It is always a favorite and "safe" choice. Meat was tender, flavorful, mixed in with the veggies and noodles. The pad Thai was especially sweet and fishy. The noodles were particularly clumpy and had a "pasty" texture. The pork chop rice plate was very good too. Some times pork chops can be dry, but this was not. I was pleasantly surprised by the tenderness. Both the chicken pho and tendon pho had a generous portion of noodles. The broth was very flavorful. Definitely would visit again to eat in! read more

Fantastic!! Amazing!!! Delicious!! Need I say more?! This is definitely Best Pho U! Service was GREAT from the moment you walk in to the time you walk out the door, very nice and kind people working there. My son graduated from Navy bootcamp and really wanted Pho. He was a little skeptical at first but the moment we walked in and smelled the wonderful aroma and saw the beautiful decor, he changed his mind and said "This is going to be good." He was actually wrong. It was better than good, it was FANTASTIC! If you are looking for the BEST Pho, this is the place. You will be so happy to eat here. If I am ever back in Illinois, I will be back for sure! read more

I'm so happy we picked this restaurant to try before my husband and I went to our movie. The restaurant was so cute and very clean. The service was also very quick and attentive. We had never had Thai iced tea before but we will be ordering it more often! Very tasty. We got the crab Rangoon and pork dumplings and before we're delicious. I particularly enjoyed the pickled garnish served with the dumplings, could have eaten a whole bowl of that! My meatball pho was amazing. The broth was extremely tasty and abundant as were the noodles. My husband got a noodle bowl and was extremely satisfied as well. We are already trying to plan our next visit! read more

After trying out Pho several spots in Lake County, this is my favorite Pho restaurant in the area! The Pho is fresh, and sides are fresh as well. The staff was welcoming, attentive, and catered to any specific requests we had. My server even provided me with fresh add-one for my take home bowl. The environment is clean, cozy, and Instagramable with small individual booths is you choose to visit by yourself. The prices are affordable and they even offer weekday lunch specials! The restaurant shares a parking lot with other business in the plaza and was easily accessible. I can't wait to go back and have another bowl of beef Pho! read more

Fantastic food. You get big portions, enough for a small amount of leftovers the next day. The beef pho in particular is very delicious. If you order it to go, they separate the ingredients, so your meal doesn't get soggy by the time you get home. Service has always been very pleasant and friendly. Prices are hard to beat. The atmosphere is very cozy and vibrant. read more

I ordered via DoorDash. The calamari doesn't seem to be cooked well cause it tastes raw and slimy and they're were mushy. The pork rice dish was okay. Not sure but fish sauce wasn't included and that's what makes the dish. I don't think this place is very authentic and good. read more

With a name like Best Pho U, I was expecting great things. Instead, I left disappointed. I ordered the vegetable rice soup. I got a meager amount of vegetables with a lot of noodles. The same broth is used for all soups. This was the most flavorless pho I've ever had. Aside from the meat, my soup tasted the same as my husband's premium pho. Our server was nice. The only bright spot was the price. The price of everything was reasonable. When we left around 1:00 on a Sunday afternoon they restaurant was full and there was a decent line at the door. read more

This place is great! My dad and I visited last month since we noticed they had opened recently; we are both pho lovers who eat it atleast once a week so we were happy to try out a new establishment! The inside of the restaurant is big and nicely decorated, we were immediately seated as it wasn't too busy. First off I want to give a personal shout out to their server David- he is so incredibly personable and was such a lovely person! I got their pho tai Bo vien, strawberry boba, and crab Rangoon. Their crab Rangoon was nice and crispy and their pho was great! A lot of places in the area are very sweet broth forward and I loooove how this one was more savory. We will def come again!!! read more

Good value with large portions at a fair pricing, though not the best flavors or textures for me. However, the quick service, comfortable interior, varied menu, and fairly generous meat portions make this a spot I may visit from time to time when I'm looking for Vietnamese in the area (Viet taste being my other option). Outside of Vietnamese options, the menu seems to also offer some Chinese American options as well. The chicken lo mein is pretty solid, with a good amount of meat and a similar flavor to what you'll find at most chop suey spots. The crab rangoon is large and deep fried, not exactly the crispiest and the filling was okay for me -- but surprisingly good as a side offering with a combo. Of the Vietnamese items I tried, I found that all of them had a very large helping of noodles, a good amount of meat, and an alright flavor. The vegetables for me could've been a little fresher and the meat flavored a bit more -- but again, not bad for the price. The noodle salad had the usual mix of lettuce, carrots, spring roll, peanuts, etc. Very filling with the amount of meat offered though the mix wasn't as addictive as usual for me -- even with the fish sauce. The vegetable noodle soup was super light, not bad for someone trying to eat healthier. The portion size was enormous with plenty of vegetables like zucchini, broccoli, and mushroom. The Chicken pho is what you'd expect homemade chicken rice noodle soup to taste like. It tasted a bit on the healthier side with a good amount of cilantro and onion to boost the flavor of the broth. The premium pho followed a similar pattern, with lots of meat -- but the flavor being a bit on the light side. The meat itself was alright though the tendon seemed too soft, brisket was a bit thin, and the rare steak wasn't super flavorful. But considering the price point and portion size given, this wasn't too bad. Overall, for me -- a value based option with alright flavor. There's not a lot of competition for Vietnamese food in this area though, so this isn't bad for a change of pace. This spot can get quite busy quite fast though, given the pricing, so be aware of that if you're looking to dine in. read more

I always enjoy finding new pho spots and best pho u did not disappoint. We were seated quickly and the staff was attentive. The restaurant has a cozy vibe. I had the egg rolls and the beef ball pho. The egg rolls were crispy, filled nicely and delicious. The pho was very good, they provide really big portions and I could not finish all of it. Noodles were cooked properly and I liked the light but flavorful broth. I will definitely try to come hungrier next time and try some other options on their menu. read more

I am finally found a Vietnamese Pho restaurant that doesn't have critical failures. This restaurant accepts credit cards and has a very nice interior decor. It has adequate seating and most importantly, serves up generous quantities of its primary venue item with great variety and delicious preparation. Not only that, but the service is superior to the competitors closer to where I live. I look forward to trying significant other items on the menu on future visits. read more

Loved the decor and hospitality. Banh mi was really good. But unfortunately, pho was average at best. My go-to is pho with brisket only, which is rarely on anyone's menu, but everyone is usually good about substituting. But in this case, it turned out not to be a good idea. The reason I substitute steak and flank with brisket is because brisket, in general is cooked a lot more tender, and I prefer that over rare steak, which slowly gets chewy as it gets overcooked in hot broth. Brisket, on the other hand is already braised a long time while making the broth, making them super tender and hearty. The problem this time was that what we got had way too much fat attached. Maybe it's the cut they use and it was my mistake to ask for brisket only. I guess it won't be fair to make a judgment until I've tried the other meats, but I'm not sure if I'll be back to have pho even if I base it on tge broth, which I thought was average at best. Again, banh mi was actually really good and I'd totally be up for coming back for more of that. But without pho, I probably will opt to take out rather than dine in. read more

After a long day of swimming, we were really hungry! Never tried this place and wanted to taste everything so we got the shrimp fried rice, fried calamari, and the special pho which had beef, tendon, tripe. We also got the beef banh mi combo, which came with 2 crab rangoons and a Thai tea. The Thai tea needed a little sugar, but was good overall and I can tell they used the real tea and not powder. The fried rice was delicious and the shrimps were big! The calamari was good and crispy and we ate that fast! The pho broth was flavorful! We split the pho into two bowls and were stuffed before we could even eat half of the rice and sandwich! Everything extra was brought home and was still good the next day! The server was nice and even joked with us a couple times! The only complaint I have is that on the day we went, we heard a woman yelling at another employee. Everyone in the restaurant was able to hear.. lots of seating and free parking. read more

We just got around to trying a new Vietnamese restaurant in Vernon Hills, and found the food, ambiance, and service to be excellent. Best Pho U is located across from the Hawthorne Mall on the south side of Rt. 60, Townline Road, tucked in near the AT&T store. We were greeted graciously, welcomed, and were seated immediately in a booth in the warm, inviting, bright and spacious room. David did a great job taking care of us and answering any questions we had. The menu offers many varieties of pho, banh mi sandwiches, co'm dia rice plates, and a large selection of appetizers. We ordered one of our favorite Vietnamese dishes, the Bun,vermicelli noodle salad, a large bowl brimming with rice vermicelli noodles, slices of marinated chicken and pork, with a variety of chopped and shredded fresh vegetables, topped with an egg roll. This was served with a large side bowl of fish sauce. The Bun Thit Nuong Cha Gio was delicious, and a filling, reasonably priced meal. I completed my meal with an excellent tall glass of Vietnamese sweetened iced coffee. We will return soon to sample more dishes, and we recommend Best Pho U as a new and outstanding addition to the local restaurant scene read more

This was our second time here. And yes, we came back! From the Main Street (route 60) one can see the restaurant. Getting into the parking lot, there needed to be more signage though-Eventually we found the entrance. The place had great tasting food, portions were large, service was impeccable. Wait staff would fill our water glasses constantly and were very attentive throughout the entire meal. The decor had a nice feel where some booths had a gazebo-like overhangs with vines flowing around- a nice touch. We sat at one of those booths and it added a different and private feel to our table. The menu selection was not overwhelming. Many Pho choices and there were photos to many of the menu selections. Overall, the restaurant was simple yet satisfying. Go visit and see for yourself. read more

Located inside a strip mall across from Hawthorne Mall in Vernon Hill, this pho restaurant differs from most of pho restaurant in terms of interior. It's cute and modern. I believe they also just recently opened. They have a bunch of reasonable priced combos. We tried their pho + bahmi+ Thai tea for just $20.99 - it was great value for what it was. I liked the pho broth which was light and hot enough. The bahmi was tasty but the meaty was a little too fatty and chewy...overall worth stopping by if in the aear. read more

Saw this opening up nearby, located pretty conveniently off of Townline, and definitely competed with another pho place in Libertyville and another down south, but I think its location is really good. Very spacious and noticeable. Owner seemed super nice. Staff speaks good English so it's easy to order over the phone. Foods are not bad, but I would say the broth flavor is a little less deep than other pho places. Everything tastes a bit more like Chinese/Cantonese flavor profile than Vietnamese. Not complaining, it's all still pretty good, just probably not gonna hit the spot if you are going for the super viet flavor profile. Everything is fresh and well made. Out of the pho, vermicelli, spring rolls, and chicken kabobs, I like the vermicelli the most. read more

We had such a wonderful experience at Best Pho U! I found them from a TikTok I watched. The decor was amazing. The appetizers were a great portion size for the price and perfect for sharing around the table. My favorites were definitely the teriyaki beef sticks and the crab rangoon-both packed with flavor and cooked perfectly. The soups/pho were amazing too! You can customize the spice level to your liking, which is a huge plus. Everything came out hot, fresh, and full of authentic flavor. The staff was fantastic, friendly, attentive, and super accommodating. We brought our kids, and I really appreciated that they provided covered water cups to help avoid spills (smart move). The kids absolutely loved their meals, the desserts, and especially the free candy they got at the end-it made their night! Overall, Best Pho U is an awesome spot for both adults and families. Let's set the expectations first - this is northern suburbs where one cannot really compare viet places with those in Argyle or north side of the city. That being said, I would prefer this place over the other Vietnamese places in the area...while the other places has sweeter broth, this place has saltier broth for their noodles soup. Neither had any depth, including the bun Bo hue, but at least they have it and I appreciate they added some of the ingredients so it sorta has a bit seafood flavor... Skip the popcorn chicken...ordered it for the kid and it's super salty and not crunchy. read more

First off, nobody speaks Vietnamese in here. Which is surprising when the whole menu is in Viet and it's advertised as a Viet restaurant. Anyways, we ordered a pho tai and bun Thit nuong cha gio. The pho is ok, broth was not too flavorful, but if you're desperate for pho it's 3/5. Bun Thit Nuong was good. They give you a large portion. Asked about the Banh Mi- if it has pate, and the waiter didn't know what that was. So..that is not authentic because traditional Banh mi should have pate. Service was friendly. read more
