I ordered a refill on my cats' medication from Best Pet RX on April 29. The medication was supposed to be delivered April 30. No timeframe was provided, however I was home all day so it wasn't a problem. I received a text on April 30 that a failed delivery was made. I saw the text literally 2 minutes after an attempt was made. They did not wring the buzzer! I immediately contacted Best Pet RX - they kept me on hold for 10 minutes by the time they got back to me they said the driver would not turn back around and that the delivery would have to be rescheduled. I agreed as long as it would be delivered the same day. Because I needed my cats's medication as a back up I placed an order with Chewy's pharmacy. They contacted Best Pet RX and had the script transferred. And was able to expedite the FREE shipping to 1-2 days and the same medication and quantity was $32 at Chewy's and at Best Pet RX it was $70! When I found out it was so much less I was able to order the full amount. In the meantime it was getting late and no med delivery. I received an email informing me that the delivery time was btw 7pm- 11:00pm- the later being past my born bedtime I contacted the delivery service at 9 PM and informed them that if the delivery was not made that day, I would be refusing it. Their response was if they could randomly buzz people's bell after 11:00pm. "Are you serious!" Obviously I put them unnoticed and told them that was absolutely unacceptable. It was 11 PM on the nose when I went to bed and still no medication for my pet! The following morning, I called the credit card company and put in a dispute and found out that Best Pet RX did not charge me $70. They charged me over $100. Can you say Fraud!!! This is a pet pharmacy delivery service that a vet referred me to. They did deliver the medications on the day that they scheduled, although it was near midnight, so it wasn't exactly convenient. It's not cheap. It's hard to compare precisely since they never gave me an invoice with a breakdown. Their technology's not very good. They have a basic website with no real functionality. You can use it to look up their phone numbers, but you can't do much else (e.g. see your order history). Their iPhone app is unusable. It seems to have been made by someone who doesn't understand phone apps. For example, you have to type in a password for every small thing you do. There also didn't seem to be a way to link the account in the app to the order I placed on the phone. They don't have much in the way of delivery tracking. They also did not have anyone answering their phones during the 4 hour delivery window. They should outsource the delivery portion to DoorDash or something similar since that would get them live tracking plus 24/7-ish customer support. Plenty of restaurants have figured that out, and most probably don't have half the revenue that Best Pet RX does. read more

The only reason this isn't 5 is because when i went to pick up the meds myself there was no one at the front desk and none of the employees that passed by asked me if i needed help. I had to stick my head in the employees only area to ask someone. I got it quickly after that. I usually get it delivered since I'm in queens but since i called Friday and it wouldn't get to me by Wednesday, i picked it up for the first time. Superior pharmacists, in an animal ONLY pharmacy and that is extremely important... they don't deal with human meds, in which an overdose would be fatal. 2. The owner, Danny IS a pharmacist...he is there to supervise everything 24/7. He cares immensely about EACH PATIENT as if it were his own beloved dog. And he compounds much if the meds HIMSELF. 3. I have ordered hundreds of meds over the past 15 years...NO MISTAKE has ever occurred. 4. They deliver right to your door..and yes it CAN be later in the evening, but what animal pharmacy does that? If u live in NYC or any of the boroughs, this is a godsend. Most pharmacies take well over 5 days+ to ship it to u. Yes couriers, can have traffic or weather problems just as anyone can who drives in NYC. 5. Please be aware thst compounding meds is NOT putting pills in a bottle. It can take a day or two to create the individual meds for your beloved animal, and it needs to dry thoroughly BEFORE it can be sent to you. 6. The responsibility is on the animal PARENT NOT to wait till the last minute ti call in a refill and expect it to be there thr same day. Reread #5. 7. If a vet calls in a script for u and the med needs to be given immediately, grt the closest 1 or 2 day supply from the vet or in some cases a human pharmacy, WHILE u are waiting for your compounded meds to be prepared ...it may taste nasty or u may have to cut up a couple pills yourself, but OH WELL...u will have something and not be pacing the floors waiting. 8. And, I noticed how you conveniently said that you checked multiple trusted sources and found the pricing consistent. I'm not questioning how much you paid for it. I'm questioning how much you're charging for it. That is a big difference, and your wording is deceiving. Let me also raise the point that I checked the pricing of this liquid compound at Diamondback in Arizona and their price was $190 to the consumer. The emergency room vet (Verg) called in a script to them around 1 PM yesterday. I received a call around 2:30 PM from the pharmacy asking for my credit card information. I provided them with my credit card information and confirmed my address. I was informed they would deliver my dogs meds between 6-9 PM (sometime around there). I got a call at 3:30 PM informing me my card was declined. After asking them to repeat the card number, we corrected the issue as they had one number wrong. I received a call exactly at 6:59 PM telling me that her meds didn't make delivery. She needed to have her meds by that time. I was informed it would come tomorrow (today, June 13th). I said okay. While my dog was suffering and needed the meds, they never showed up. I called at 10:37 AM to confirm delivery for tonight.after giving them my information, they told me it was set up for delivery tonight. I waited, waited, and waited as they were informed to tell the driver to call upon arrival and they never showed up! I cannot believe this bs. They are horrible. No consideration for pets who need their meds after getting discharged from the hospital. My little 4 pound yorkie has to now recover without the meds the doctor prescribed. Never again would I allow Verg to send medicine for them to fill. A bunch of crooks who could care less about what they specialize in. Update-received my dogs meds on Saturday at 10:36 PM!!! WOW where do I start. First, this is the most expensive pet medication service on the market. Ridiculously overpriced, and the worst part is - extremely unreliable service. On Thursday, we were supposed to get our regular monthly delivery but it never showed up. When we called today to find out what happened, they said it was delivered and that we would have to pay for new medication (over $120 worth of it). When pushed, they said the delivery guy left the medication "near plants". There are NO plants in our building, outside of our building, not even a tree in front on the street. Then, as we're on the phone with the rude and ignorant customer service team ("why would we send a replacement for free when you told them to leave them by the plants?" "..."), we're searching through the garbage cans in front of our apartment, and neatly tucked behind the recycling bin, near a thorny gated window, we find our prescription. Truly mind boggling. I did like them at first. It was convenient to be able to call in refills and get them quickly by prescription#. However, recently I called in a refill, and they sent me the wrong medication. When I called to question it, I was noncellantly told that I was given the most up to date script that was in their system. There had been no discussion. I ordered script# 12345 they sent me #6789 and did not say anything. I straightened it out w my vet and when they called back the person giggled and was half talking to a co-worker. I did not realize they were so uncaring towards their customers and about the health of my pet. I have researched other pet pharmacies online and found them to be cheaper, so this incident is a blessing in disguise. I would not recommend them. read more

I used this pharmacy when my pup needed compounded meds when I lived in NYC. My vet there said Best Pet sources the highest quality ingredients which apparently is not always the case with compounding pharmacies. That was reassuring. They are always friendly, knowledgeable and efficient. Granted, they aren't inexpensive but my little buddy is worth it. I live in DC now but I still get meds from them and they STILL arrive the next day! My new vet was not familiar with them and when my pup had a bad ear infection, I asked them to call Best Pet. My vet was impressed that she could customize the medication based on the ear test results. I want to switch all of my cat's medications to this pharmacy but currently have three different pharmacies due to his cornucopia of meds. Dude. They can compound ANY medication to a chewable or a liquid and the flavors are mind-boggling -- I believe I was offered a choice that ranged from beef to vanilla-toffee or somesuch, so they have not only savory flavors but dessert treats too. They deliver them the same day, right to your door, for no extra money, whereas I just got off the phone with another compounding pharmacy who charges $10.50 for signature required upon delivery and just mucked that up on my last order, with apparently no way to rectify it with UPS. Sooo, I'm switching all of my cat's meds to Best Pet Rx. Also, everyone on the phone is genuinely friendly, and the delivery people always have smiles and kind words. They have made everything a breeze from the first time I've used them. Maybe it's on the expensive side, but not more so than any other compounding pharmacy I've seen, and... not to brag, but I've been around the block with compounding pharmacies for pets... Pharmacist NICK threatened violence and said to come down to his location to fight. Avoid this company at all costs. Called Best Pet Rx today. Pharmacist Nick answered the phone. Before I could finish my sentence (regarding options available in stock for medication) was interrupted with "WHY ARE YOU CALLING, YOU VET SHOULD DO THIS". No - my Vet should not do this as he has no idea what you have in stock, this isn't a simple prescription. It is one where there are many options. I called to find out what options the pharmacy had in stock AND THEN my vet would call in the order. I don't appreciate rude and degrading people, nor do I tolerate them. I am sure a great deal of Best Pet Rx's customers are older, perhaps more passive. Nick clearly pulls this on other customers and most probably just take it because they don't know better. But the icing on the cake is the threat of violence. From a pharmacist. Think about that for a minute. People, just AVOID this place. Look at other reviews here. Our Vet recommended Best Pet RX and we were skeptical since all the way in UES (and we are in Brooklyn) but we were astonished when we called and they said they would have to us in a few hours. The refill was equally easy and fast (which was great since we didn't realize we had run out one morning and they had refill to us just a few hours later). The range of flavor options for liquid RX are pretty comical as range from fish and chicken to peanut butter and strawberry (if only they had cantaloupe as my cat loves that). Staff is always super friendly when you call and keep all your info on file so it is literally a 30 second phone call. Our medicine has to be refrigerated so they professionally pack in ice packs. I have a kitten who needed a prescription on Christmas Eve. Not the ideal time, I know, but the person who called from Best Pet Rx said the medicine would be delivered same-day. That is, until I gave her my (Manhattan) address and told her, when she asked, that I don't live in a doorman building. Suddenly the earliest they could deliver was Monday. Otherwise, if I didn't want to wait four days for my pet to get better, I would have to pick it up myself, which left me no choice. This added $60 to the bill, since I had to take a car to get there in time, and there is no discount for picking up. Not saying I won't use them again, but they made a terrible first impression. I've been a best pet rx customer for almost a decade. Not sure what the people who gave bad reviews are really complaining about because 1- they are super nice and really care about animals, 2- they do a meticulous job. My dog's medication isn't easy to compound and I've shopped around - no one was able to do what they do for us. 3- we have gotten to know their delivery team over the years and they are prompt, kind, and always circle back if we miss each other (which has so far always only been my fault, never theirs). Wouldn't leave this place even if I found something closer or cheaper because of the quality of the meds and customer service. So grateful for them! read more

Amazing service! One of my (many) cats has diabetes. Since I alter his dosage based on his urine glucose (as well as his blood A1C), I can't estimate when I'll need more insulin.
