I live in Reno Nevada and my boyfriend and I just bought a house and are in the process of moving in. During this time, we are having my boyfriends parents watch our dogs which include a poodle bichon, and a border collie. Our poodle really needed a haircut and we tried a couple local groomers to Roseville and had bad feelings about all of them. We reached out to best paw forward and the experience was absolutely magical. I am sad that this can't be our regular groomers because of how great of an experience we had. Best paw forward we're able to squeeze us in for a same week appointment. To start, we typically groom our poodle, Ollie, every 3 months or so and have had problems in the past at other groomers going too short on his belly / groin area which has led to him scratching until he bleeds. We voiced our concerns with best paw, along with detailing how we wanted him to look. We are in Reno, so all of this was by phone and through my boyfriends mom. We were nervous but we ended up getting John as our groomer for Ollie and he did a PHENOMENAL job. He called us when Ollie got there to make sure we understood everything and that he knew what we wanted. he kept his belly hair a little longer and Ollie had absolutely no itchiness which was such a relief on us. John soaked Ollie in a preconditioner to make him easier to brush and reduce pulling on his skin, making him more comfortable. He did such a good job on Ollie, the haircut is SO CUTE! About a week later we had an appointment for our border collie, Tahoe, to get brushed out and nails trimmed. Tahoe is pretty fearful of people and barks a lot so we don't take her to groomers very often but knew she could use it. We got Lisa and she did such a great job with Tahoe. We didn't hear anything bad about Tahoes barking, and she came out looking great! Thank you best paw forward for making our experience so wonderful. Took my Yorky in here today for the first time. He hadn't been groomed in ages and they did a pretty good job although they were unable to grind his nails because he nips, Which I was disappointed by. I had authorized them to put a muzzle on him if necessary. I had also asked for a Yorky head which we discussed means leaving his head long and his body short, But for some reason they cut all the hair on his head off. He doesn't look like a Yorky anymore but hair grows back so I'm not that stressed about that but I am disappointed that they didn't follow my instructions. We have been taking our Bernese Mountain Dogs to Stevia for over 3 years. I had made an appointment for one of the girls for a Friday. I was contacted shortly before the appointment on that Friday to see if I could reschedule her for the following day because our groomer had already worked on a couple big dogs and her back hurt. I could not reschedule because of company coming in from out of town, so I was told to bring her on in. Our dog did need extra grooming because of mats in her coat. When we picked her up my husband was told $195.00! (+Tip) That's $105.00 MORE than we usually pay. My dog looked beautiful, however a courtesy call for the additional charge would have been nice. I bring all of my many 4 legged animals here. Two cats and 5 dogs. They do amazing. Especially on my Pomeranian. They always listen and take the extra time to cut her right. She always comes back looking beautiful. I see these negative reviews and I don't understand them. All the grommets here are amazing. If you just want your dog bathed the bather takes special care with washing and brush out/ de shedding. Got a skunk dog come on by and they will fix you up right as rain. I took my long-haired pup in for his first professional grooming. Some of his hair had gotten matted so I asked for a shave (vowing to regularly brush his hair when it grows back). I know my pup must have put up at least a little bit of a fight since I know he wasn't completely comfortable with the clippers from when I first clipped him. Rheaghan did a great job with him despite that and he came out looking and smelling great. I thought I liked this place until I met the male owner? My poodle was done great but my little terrier was left a mess. It was just a clean up, face ears and feet but the front feet were left long and his ears were not done and his mustache was lopsided.. I have to fix the entire little trim up which is ridiculous. I tried to call to get a refund for my little one and the owner was the RUDEST person I ever talked to. I've never met him and I've taken my dogs there before. NOW I WILL NOT BE RETURNING. Now they are trying to say I yelled at them? The man so rude and I had to ask him to be nice to me multiple times. Yes they offered for me to bring him back but I have a busy schedule and set the time and already brought him in. The staff here are way to nice. So accommodating and they welcome your pet with loving arms! I am always reluctant to change grooming locations however, we wanted to give them a try. We took our cocker spaniel in for a cut. What, only $ for the work...we will see. Came back to pick up our dog and the cut was perfect and Stanley (the dog) had a big smile on his face. When I recently made an appointment with them it was booked and when I came in for my appointment apparently and unfortunately I was booked with somebody who doesn't work there anymore? Said they had called multiple times and left a voicemail when I had checked my voicemails. I didn't find anything from them but when I checked my missed calls, I only had two missed calls and she said that she had been trying to get in contact with me for the last four days before my appointment, and with the two missed calls within those four days that had meant to me that she called once every two days. I was hoping I would have found a new spot to take Oreo but unfortunately that will not happen. Pampered Paws was always numero uno but when COVID struck... good luck getting an appointment in a timely manner. Made some calls and found this place. Quite sure it's pretty common and normal for dogs to bark while being caged waiting on their owners. They leave me a voicemail saying .. you need to come get Oreo, she's just barking ( all while she was not polite about this, definitely had attitude ) and you need to come get her. i call her back and she answers the phone with such a nasty tone to voice... why in the world would you work with animals if something as trivial as a dog barking gets under your skin? When i arrive Oreo is in cage and not barking consistently, non stop. Definitely should do a reevaluation of your workers... They did do well on washing Oreo but that phone call with them insisting I come right now because my dog was barking really left a bad taste in my mouth read more
