9 out of 10 negative reviews are related to their delivery, which I agree is horrendous. But you got to take this place for what it is. It's modeled after a neighborhood get-n-go but with ALL healthy options. It aims to provide affordable food to people with limited income. It's at a bus stop, next to the court. Part of the reason it's so healthy is that they don't buy processed foods and they cook based on what they'll expect to sell that day. The way it used to be. So don't be a bummer because they're trying to keep it fresh, keep it genuine. Just ask what they have going that day. It'd be nice if they offered that info from the start, but the customer can also take a little initiative too. You get one or two grumps but for the most part the staff is super nice. They're also working folks in the heart of the city catering to a wide range of customers from lawyers to construction workers, homeless to hipster. So give em a break of they don't act like the world stops when you place your order. Red beans and white beans are solid. Chicken is great. Don't get delivery. read more

A $3 QUASI-HEALTHY BREAKFAST One of the better deals in town. You get about a pound of grits, turkey sausage, wheat toast and two eggs cooked to order. (See my pic) BEST LIFE TAKE-OUT TAKEAWAYS: 1. It's located between Central Lock-up and the Big Cheezy. 2. It's both a pharmacy and a breakfast/lunch counter cafe. 3. It reminds me of a cleaner yet just as spare "Gene's". 4. It's mostly take-out as it only seats 8 or so. 5. Oddly there's no posted menu, you have to ask for one. read more

I wish I was able to give them a serious zero. This place is absolutely pitiful. I went in hungry as a dog and walked out madder than a grumpy bear. First of all, the lady who placed my order, looked as if she didn't want to make the food anyways. Then, they had the nerve to be out of potatoes, they do not sell fries. So I ordered honey BBQ wings (flats only) and mac & cheese instead. Basic order right? Wrong! Usually when I order wings, they are fried, not "baked". When I tell you I wanted to throw my plate, I wanted to throw it. I waited over 40 mins for it. Before I placed my order, I had asked the wait time. She said "it won't be long". The lies, the lies. I should've known to not order a thing. The grill looked cold as an empty, old Burger King. Like when was the last time someone ordered food? Back in 2014? Mannnnn. Anyways, back to this order. After all of that waiting, I was expecting some hot, delicious chickens and macaroni. Hmph. What I had received was a box full of "chicken wings", basically bones and some chicken meat. Not only that, zero flats. The macaroni was heated in a microwave for a few secs before being served to me. No way that was prepared in an oven for it to be Luke Bryant warm. Didn't eat a single bite. Will not return. Save your money and go to the other eateries around the city. As you know, New Orleans has beaucoup food places and different choices. Too bad this one missed the mark. read more

I ordered food from this place OVER an hour and a half ago through eat24, which gave it 45-60 min delivery time, which was totally fine with me. I was super psyched when I got a notification that it would be delivered early (yay!) After about an hour and a half of waiting, I decided to call the restaurant to see what was going on. The lady on the other end of the line informed me that I "needed to understand how restaurants work" and that, because they were having a lunch rush, she had to "take care of her customers" before she could get to me. Then she would need to call a driver (they didn't already have one?!). So it would be ANOTHER hour and a half. Wow. Just wow. Needless to say, I won't be helpful in reviewing the food. read more

We ordered to go here from Yelp and def regret making that decision. We placed our order around 7pm and they called saying that they ran out on most of their products. They didn't have the roasted dark/white meat chicken and only had grilled chicken breast. They also ran out of red beans and rice. I substituted to get the Grilled Chicken Breast with white beans + rice and mac n cheese. The grilled chicken breast I felt was frozen and microwave. I did not think it was worth the $6 at all. The white beans and rice was okay, but I felt it could use more seasoning. The mac n cheese was decent, but didnt seem freshly cooked. Also it took almost 2 hours for our food to be delivered. The sandwiches were also not that great. DO NOT ORDER GRILLED CHEESE. It pretty much is 2 big slices of bread with 2 slices of cheese. I mean i guess that's what you get for a grilled cheese that costs around 2-3$. I would not come back here again. read more

Best Life, is for me a life saver. I was serving Jury Duty and they are diagonally across the street from the Courthouse. The food is very affordable, and with a healthy slant I can respect. The Buffalo Wings, were baked and yet VERY juicy.. The sauce was very tasty and I was very happy with that lunch. For Breakfast, I went in and asked for a breakfast sandwich, which they do not serve. HOWEVER, I did pay a paltry $2.00 for a very big portion of eggs and 2 slices of toast, so I constructed my own breakfast sandwich of sorts and still had a lot of eggs left over. My advice would be to offer breakfast sandwiches, and find some way to target the courthouse staff. The staff at the courthouse seemed to almost be unaware that they were there. That is a LOT of missed, potential walk in traffic. So, here is the bullet list of this review: 1.The food is very, very good. 2.The prices are very, very low. 3.The service is very, very fast. 4.This place is almost unknown. If you are in this area, CBD, whatever, go here and get some lunch to go. Your wallet will thank you, your heart will thank you, and the business I know, will thank you. read more

Great food, really friendly service. Try the white beans, they are fantastic. The pharmacy is a little unreliable, but it makes you feel better about giving money to the pharmaceutical world when you shop at a locally owned spot like this. read more

I really like this place. I usually call ahead to make my order and go pick it up. The parking can be a little awkward but it is definitely worth figuring out. The food is simple, honest, fresh and you can SEE exactly what you are eating. Prices are reasonable. When you order/pick up your order, you can see into the kitchen which is refreshing because you can see exactly where you food is coming from. And it is clean. My first order (and now favorite) was a 12" grilled chicken sandwich, dressed, add jalapenos. The bread was pillowy wheat bread (none of that sawdust wheat bread grit) and the chicken was fresh grilled. Great deal for $6. I vote "TRY IT." The ladies in the kitchen told me my first time: "You'll be back." They were right. read more

Called in to pick up my order but when I arrived they acted as though they never spoke to me. I was told I'd have to wait an extra 10 minutes on top of the 15 minutes of previous waiting. The food was undercooked and the service staff was incredibly rude. I'll never return to this place. read more

I ordered delivery aware that it could take awhile, seeing that I was packing to moved I ordered ahead of time for me &others, I hadn't realized 4 hours had gone by, in calling them I received no response or respect. I can't say anything about the food because in the end they just never delivered it at all. read more

Great lil spot to grab breakfast from while on the way to work. Can't really beat eggs, turkey bacon, toast, and potatoes for only $3. Service is slow sometimes but it's not the worst in town. Food tends to be a little under seasoned sometimes too, so just prepare to throw a little salt & pepper on it! read more

I've lived here all my life and I can't say enough great things about this place. The highest level of integrity and care. I love the food even more. And the delivery, in my experience, is pretty unbeatable considering where and what kind of business they are. Just had to cancel an order due to change of plans, and the owner personally called to ensure everything was solid on their end. Definitely a first for me. Just order it. You're welcome. Bye. read more

I absolutely love Me.Chis..He always give great advice. Like losing weight, eating healthier to live a longer life.. Stop the negative comments. This pharmacy is black owned, support black businesses. He is trying, but its our own that like to tear the black man down smh read more

Yes...FIVE STAR at a little pharmacy restaurant combo! While your prescriptions are being filled by the friendliest pharmacist in town (Dr. Christian), you can have a DELICIOUS & HEALTHY snack or meal prepared with love & ALL NATURAL ingredients! NO PORK or BEEF! Grilled & baked salmon, tuna, hotwings, smothered cabbage & brown rice, mustard greens...these are a few choices I just remember, and NO MEAL MORE THAN $9.00!!! ALL done with big, WELCOMING smiles, on a corner, & in an area that's better known for sadness & despair (it's across the street from Orleans Parish Prison & the Courts & glaring Bail Bond signs)! Let's show em some love in return, y'all, & big, chain, impersonal pharmacies DA BOOT! read more

Had breakfast here before and it was somewhat dry and bland. Eggs, sausage & grits or potatoes and a coffee for under $5!! And they're also running a pharmacy here! 3-stars. read more

I tried there delivery service for our family of 5. The food was ok, but was missing 3 items in the delivery bag even though I waited almost 2 hours for delivery. I ordered through EAT24 and they are a great company and make everything A' OK. My suggestion is to lower your delivery area because it takes too long to deliver to Metairie from New Orleans. The red beans I ordered were decent but had no meat in them. I was perplexed at why they were so cheap..at $4.00 no wonder...none of us of 5 were very impressed. read more

I ordered for delivery via EAT24. 20 minutes into my order i was called and told that they ran out of 1 of my sides i told the person to just pick their personal favorite. 2 Minutes later i was called again that they didn't have my flavor for wings. I went with buffalo. 2 red flags but i was very hungry and imagined i would be eating soon, and the reviews were amenable. The eta on the website was 45-60 minutes. The restaurant is 9 minutes away and google showed traffic was fine. At 65 minutes into my order i called to inquire where it was, mind you this is 45 minutes after they called me. I was told it was on its way... perfect!! On its way was a blatant lie. at the 2 hour mark i had EAT24 cancel the order. I never got to taste the food, i do get to look at taken money for at least a week while it tries to refund. If you're not ready for delivery, just don't. read more

I'm disha I order and the food was very good I would order again food worth the wait....

The food here is good, and good for you! They cater to people who have diabetes and high blood pressure, so don't expect overly salty foods here. The breakfast is what I come for. For just $3, you get two eggs anyway you like them, turkey sausage, potatoes or grits, and wheat toast. It will definitely fill you up and leave enough for a pre-lunch snack. The omelettes are to die for. My personal favorite is the spinach, cheese and mushrooms, but they offer a lot of veggies for you to choose from. Since this is a health food place, dont expect greasy bacon or ham, but like I said, the veggie omelettes are very good. Other good menu items are the turkey meatball sandwich and the veggie pizza. The wait staff is very friendly, and the owner will regularly come out and talk with visitors. Let's not forget, it is a pharmacy as well, so you can have a bite while you are waiting for your prescriptions to be filled! read more

Went to this restaurant because it's in my neighborhood. It's very basic inside. Prices are cheap. Food is mediocre, but healthy. I ordered the Grilled Chicken Breast. It was baked and probably microwaved. Red Beans and Rice were adequate as well as the salad. Total price $6.53. Not bad...but not great. I might try something else that is cooked fresh. Didn't try the pharmacy but thought it was in interesting combination. read more

This place is a valuable asset to the community. The owner used his own life savings to facilitate the opening with the vision of seeing a healthy alternative to the fried chicken shacks and burger joints on every corner. I commend his efforts and hope you all will support this establishment which also doubles as a pharmacy. read more

My bf and I decided to order lunch and delivery said 45-60 minutes, he had to be at work in 1 and 1/2 hours so we figured it would be alright. After we placed our order for lunch (and slightly more food to meet the $15 delivery minimum), he gets a call about 15 minutes later that they are out of the roast beef. So he ordered the turkey meatballs instead.... except then they figure out that they are out of turkey. At some point they mention that they are also out of pancakes and I didn't bother to order anything in it's place since they obviously don't stock the items on the menu that they offer. 70 minutes go by and my bf needs to leave for work very soon and the order isn't here. He leaves for work, then the order shows up 80-85 minutes later. The food is cold, and the delivery guy doesn't even know what my new total is for the order since we had to change it so many times, he has to call the store to find out. The food was mostly cold, my eggs were overcooked. The white beans were good, but some of the rice was crunchy because I assume that was undercooked, no idea how my bf's food was since he wasn't here to eat it. They deducted the delivery fee from my order, but I would have never even bothered to order from them if I knew it would be so bad. Probably one of the worst delivery experiences of my life, don't waste your time or money. read more
