Leon is a class act. My AC was badly under-performing on a hot stretch so we called Leon. He was able to visit us the next morning on a federal holiday... I really, truly, appreciate him taking his day off to help out folks like me with old AC units. It turned out that nothing was wrong... except the owners (us) who froze up the system. Leon gave these first time homeowners a crash course in how to operate an AC and didn't take advantage of us over it. I was willing to pay whatever to get my house to cool down, and Leon helped my young family out and I will not forget that. Two years ago we had them, it was the business owner, come to our home to asses the proper size furnace mounted humidifier & give us an install price. We had them install a humidifier on furnace of our newly built home. Towards the end of the heating season we called them because the unit they installed wasn't coming close to maintaining a proper humidity level in our ranch home. The owner gave me some excuse about how it would be better during the next heating season. They never made us aware of advantages of a fan driven humidifier vs the passive model (humidifier is dependent on furnace fan air movement to push moisture through the humidifier and into the heated air) We can't get the humidity in the house above 25% when 40-43% is a proper range. We are now have to pay another company to install a fan driven humidifier. Very disappointing!! read more

called to get someone to look at AC. Fan was not working. tech came out told me nothing wrong with unit. fan was working when he got here. but stoped while he was here. I had to keep pushing that something was wrong. he washed down unit with no solvent. he kept insisting the it was working. he went to things again and thought it MIGHT BE. either panel or thermostat. ask him to fix it said he was not certified. Over the past year, Leon and his team have helped with troubleshooting a problem with our furnace, replacing the entire ac system, and troubleshooting a problem with a pump. In all 3 instances, they have been kind, competent and quick to respond, and have fixed the issues effectively. When the ac went out in the middle of a heat wave, he was able to complete the work weeks before any other company (I asked around). When a part needed cleaning in the furnace, he taught me how to do it so I can do it by myself in the future. His prices are lower than the competition and he treats us like family. I had them come look at my heater. They were there before our appointment. When I arrived they said they'd already looked at it and couldn't fix it, but could replace it for $9000. Charged me $65 and I'm not even sure they climbed on the roof that snowy, windy morning to look at it. All it needed was the gas turned on. read more

Spent over $435 to fix a/c. Leon kind of cleaned outside a/c coil for $175 took him 5 min did not do the top or inside. Replaced what he said was a defective capacitor and did not fix a/c for another $257 for capacitor and then wanted to charge over $800 for cleaning inside a/c coil when he had agreed to do both for $175. After he left a/c did not work when he said it was working. Called him back and asked him to come look at it he refused without charging another fee to come out. Steer clear of this company that does not guarantee work and takes advantage. read more

I called this company to fix some HVAC issues I've been having. The first time I called they said they would be at my place within an hour, I called 30 minutes after the hour that past and they had to take down all of my info again and said they were finishing a job and would be there within 30 minutes. This wouldn't work for me because I needed to get back to work, so I rescheduled for Friday at 8:30am. Friday 8:50am I called them to see if they were still coming and they completely forgot about me. This is the worst company I have ever dealt with!! They came out to service our AC so that it can run more optimally. They charged us $250 to refill the coolant. The following week I told him that the AC is not working any better than before, so his only suggestion is to charge another $150 for a test to see what else it could be. I said no thanks. 3 weeks later, the AC goes out completely! When i called them, they finally sent a technician out a week later to take a look. He quoted us another $750 for parts and labor for a part that turns out to be $150. I called them back trying to get more info and talk to them about what they found, and I never heard back from them again. Left 3 messages for the owner and nothing. We know someone who also had a really poor experience with them also. Don't use these guys - they do bad business! Really disappointed. read more

I spoke with their sales rep whose response was basically tough and when I would file a complaint because that is bait and switch they said go ahead do what you want. 1 star because I can't do zero. This company installed our tankless water heater. I asked Leon what brand and he replied a rinnai. On install day he had his crew install a noritz because of product classes and such. I did not care too much for brands but was a bit let down. We seem to keep having problems with the unit, running bath water makes the unit reset and drop to 90 then we unplug and wait. A technician has come out to service but said we need a new unit. We have called Leon and he has no idea who we are so suggests he will call us back. We will call a real company instead! read more

I've had nothing but good experiences with Best For Less Heating & Cooling. They've installed our furnace and AC unit, and both have been working without fail for 5+ years now. Other than changing the filter, we've never had to pay for any service. The other day, we noticed that the blower motor was "false starting," and I called after hours to schedule an appointment. The next morning, Leon (the owner of BfLHaC), called me back between 8-8:30am. He listened to my issue over the phone, and told me that it sounded like a dirty flame sensor. He said it was an easy thing to clean myself, and walked me through the simple process of opening the front and cleaning the sensor. Our furnace is now back to it's warm, normal self, and the "service" didn't cost a thing. Free advice from a heating and cooling contractor... that's not something you see every day, if ever! I could probably live with the fact this man lied to me when he said he services Trane furnaces, or even when he tried to sell me a $99 thermostat for $350 (no wiring required to replace it), but when I told him that my furnace still won't go past 72 degrees and I need him to come back and fix it, he just LAUGHED! Hi have had service from Leon and Best For Less Heating & Cooling for about 3 year. His service is always prompt and reliable. I called again yesterday (it isn't supposed to be over 20 degrees all week) and he came out within a couple of hours and replaced a gas valve. I had to call him again 2 hours later and he came out at 7PM and identified the issue. We now have heat thankfully as it is only 9 degrees this morning. We(me and my wife) moved into a house and the ac failed on us on a 98 degree day and he stopped over and had the problem resolved in no time, he even stopped by a second time when we had an emergency and was here in under 20 minutes, I highly recommend Best for Less and will continue to use them with confidence going forward. Had an issue with the furnace at our rental home. The weather was cold and the furnace was not firing properly. It was about 6:30 in the evening and we needed to find someone that night to repair it. Called Best for Less Heating, Leon is a guy right in the neighborhood who we had used before. The house was 5 minutes away from Leons' home. Leon agreed to go that evening. He replaced the igniter in 30 minutes and was on his way telling us that he'd send the bill later. Much to our surprise, we received a bill in excess of $300 for his service. The part cost about $30, so the rest was labor? I called Leon and asked for a breakdown of the services between parts and labor. He said that he didn't do that. I asked how he determined the cost and he said he just looked in a book and came up with the cost. I asked if we could negotiate on the price. He said no. The price was what it was and that's what we had to pay. I told him we managed other rental properties and we were looking for someone who we could work with and depend on but he still did not budge, even with the prospect of future business on the line. I could not believe that anyone who owned their own business could be so inflexible or so uncaring of future business opportunities. I also was very disappointed that a small businessman who lives and works in the community whom we had done business with before was so unconcerned with how he was overcharging people in his neighborhood. I guess he is not worried about his reputation or us telling others about our poor experience with him if we are asked to recommend a heating and cooling service. He must have such a successful business that he doesn't need to worry about overcharging neighbors and the very people that helped to build his business. The lesson learned was for us was to get an estimate UPFRONT and not be trusting of a businessman you thought you knew and felt would not take advantage of a situation and overcharge. We understand that after hours service calls can be expensive and were ready to take that into account for the high cost of the service until we found out that Leon advertises his business hours until 9PM, so the high cost was NOT for an after hours or middle of the night service call. It should have been within his regular business hours. Plain and simple, the message we got is that he doesn't need repeat business, doesn't need our business and can charge whatever he chooses because there are people out there who will pay it. We will find an honest and reputable business to work with, Leon and Best for Less will not be on our list of people we choose to do business with in the future.
