I can't say enough good things about best cleaners and most importantly Hannah. We came from out of town to the New York area to get married. My wife's wedding dress needed cleaning (long story), and she was panicked. When I spoke to Hannah at Best Cleaners, all our concerns started to fade away. She said to come up and see her at the Schenectady location when we landed on Friday. They checked out the dress while we were there, and felt confident they could do a good job. Hannah delivered the dress (and my suit) to us personally on Sunday, and the cleaning was perfect! I never thought a cleaning company could make a real difference in our wedding ceremony, and through that our lives. Hannah proved that it can. I don't think our wedding would have been the same if not for their kindness and quality of service. I don't live in the New York area, but if I did, I would never use anybody but best cleaners. I dropped off one dress on a Wedesday lunch break. I was told the dress would be ready by 5pm Friday. Sounded great to me. The price quote appeared steep, $26, so I asked if any coupons were available? The representative applied a $10 coupon. I received a text message Thursday at 11am stating my order was ready for pick up. At 3pm I arrived to find the lights out and doors locked. So I called the Latham location to inquire. The woman who answered was very friendly and very scattered. She actually hung up on me twice and called me back twice, I believe unintentionally. She informed me that the dress could be delivered to my house that evening by 7pm and I agreed. The dress was not delivered Thursday night but instead at 830am Friday morning. Most importantly the lace on the dress and the tie around the neck are intact and the dress looks fabulous. The entire process at this cleaners seems unorganized. The first woman I dealt with during drop off is telling customers that the cleaner is open until 5pm when the clearner actually closes at 3pm. I've had it with Best Cleaners. They were only moderately crappy three years ago. Now the place is run by incompetents and staffed by incompetents. In my view, anyone using Best Cleaners is a fool -- and that includes me for using them until now. When I moved up here from town, I realized it was the country and things would not be as smooth as in more cosmopolitan settings. Still, I have been dealing with cleaners and laundries since I was packed off to school as a teenager (a very long time ago) and on three continents and in very rural settings. But Best Cleaners has set a record for stupidity that I cannot imagine being beaten. The most recent problem started at the beginning of fall when I had my winter clothes returned from storage. Several items were missing -- most notably, my winter coats. They were found a week or so later and brought over. The overcoat's seams were split. The duffle coat's faux-leather bits were melted. I took them back to be fixed. When I picked up the overcoat, I checked the seams; they were still split; no work had been done. It stayed another week. Fixing the duffle coat was a whole new adventure. "O we have to order special parts," I was told. It took two and a half months for those parts to arrive. I went to pick up the coat: The toggles had been sewn on backward -- on the left side of the coat rather than the right. Add to this, when pressing the coat, the new faux-leather bits had been melted again. What is particularly irksome: For ten bucks (if that), the stupid gits at Best could have gotten hold of some nylon cord or rawhide cord and stitched the whole thing together in 20 minutes. Three years is enough. I'm tired of having things come back damaged (I lost two Bobby Chan silk shirts to those incompetents -- clearly left in the sun and bleached out). I'm tired of having stuff go missing for a week or two. These guys admit the mistakes and are willing to make good -- but why make the mistakes in the first place? Is it so hard to keep track of goods when they have bar-code tracking tags in them? [The only positive: I now keep meticulous lists of items I take to the cleaner's.] I have seen other customers with problems: Just the other day, a woman was in wondering where the belts to her belted coats had gone. The high-flying management person hadn't a clue; the front-desk person -- low end of the totem pole -- was able to find the belts. As a harried bride traveling to Amsterdam NY from Boston, my wedding dress became a bit wrinkled in the car. With the wedding two days away, Best Cleaner was able to steam my dress for the next day! Very friendly staff and made the stress of a wrinkled dress go away!! They understood my urgency and accommodated me with complete courtesy! I'm glad I found them when I did. my experience: clothes not well cleaned clothes not back when promised friendly staff, but not competent worst: same day cleaning??? i went to pick up my shirts at the end of best cleaners day, which is the beginning of my day (i work nights). I work at a silver platter restaurant. we DO NOT show up 'out of uniform'. I'm not sure how Best Cleaners can ever repay me for getting dismissed from work. normal: cuffs and collars always less clean then i can do in a normal washing machine at home. asking if a shirt can be boxed "now", staff takes my clothes "in back". 26 minutes later, comes back with shirts not boxed... late for work. sometimes: witnessed customers picking up (ahead of me in line), who leave empty handed because Best Cleaners hasn't done the correct job. free dry cleaning for a year MIGHT get me to keep using Best. read more

Review of two visits, two different locations. I was given gift cards the past two years for Christmas. Last year Best gave me someone else's pants. Took 2 1/2 months and several phone calls to receive a refund. This year had to ring bell for service four times for someone to come to counter. Clothing taken in by clerk with an attitude. My phone number brought someone else's information in the computer. I asked that a rip in the corner of a pocket be repaired--clerk told me "ya," as expected, it wasn't done. I have asked my family not to give me gift cards for Best any longer--requested gift cards from my preferred dry cleaner. read more

Highly recommend Best Cleaners for wedding gown preservation. I had my wedding dress and veil preserved by them. They did an excellent job. My dress and veil looked brand new! They reviewed the dress and veil with me before packing it into the preservation box. They were even flexible with my crazy work schedule. read more

They charged me $25 to have a dress dry cleaned with some stains that should have been easily removed. The dress looked the exact same when I picked it up. It also came home with a hole from the harsh chemicals they tested on it. Go to union cleaners instead read more

I was visiting family in the Schenectady area and had brought a light weight overcoat with me, not realizing there was some mold on it. When I noticed it, I took my coat to best cleaners, explaining that I was only there a short time, they had my coat back to me same day and spotless. Thank you Best Cleaners! read more
