This review is of the geek squad. I made an appointment. I drove 40 minutes to get there. I stood in line where the sign told me to, and had a woman rudely order me to "go sit down over there." I was there to have the hard drive from my old computer switched to my new computer, so I could keep my data and my3 terrabytes of storage. The kid who greeted me went and got an, "expert," who said he couldn't do it because the new computer was too small and walked away. When I protested, he did recommend a hard drive dock, which is what I had to go with. The kid couldn't answer my questions, the "expert" couldn't be bothered. All in all, it was a waste of time on a hot August day in Texas. I will never go there again, and I'll advise anyone who asks against it, as well. read more

I needed help in the tv/stereo part of the store. i had to go to the front and request help. someone came to the area i was in and was friendly and helpful. i was ready to make a purchase. they only had one black and one white stereo speaker. i said i would pick up the 2nd speaker at the irving store. i asked to price match nebraska furniture store. the associate confirmed that best buy has price match with n.f.m. he then told me the computer would not allow him to match the price that he had confirmed as a good add. he went and someone told him he couldn't match the price. no explanation sorry. it felt like selective discrimination. price match not worth the ink on the page. the Cedar Hill Best Buy for many years was a great place to buy and get help. it has become a waste of time. After getting me down to Ferris, TX where she lives from Addison because there weren't instructions in this item I came over and tried to set it up. I am a millennial. I am more than equipped with enough knowledge to capably put together just about anything. Including a variety of mechanical items. I spent an hour trying to get this turntable to work. Nothing. I googled. Nothing. I called and spoke with a customer service agent at a call center who told me a manager would call me from that location. They did and told me because we were outside of their 15 days window there was nothing they would or could do for us BECAUSE WE ARE NOT BEST BUY MEMBERS!!! So because we don't pay you a monthly service fee you can't help this little old lady who is my aunt? And she does have a Best Buy credit card that she will be cancelling after this experience. Best Buy, you should be ashamed of yourself. Pitiful and disgraceful. I will never purchase another thing from Best Buy again nor will my family and friends. Best advice when purchasing here is get the insurance. It's reasonably priced and covered almost everything. My son spilled water on his laptop 3 months after I got it for him. An appointment was easy to set . Laptop was repaired and returned at not cost to me . Communication about where we were in the process was easy as well! read more

A item was delivered broke call customer service for Best Buy. I was told to send it back to them through ups. Once my Dyson was processed they cancel my replacement order. I was told I will not get my Dyson because their system canceled the return and it can't be processed again that they will only give me a refund regardless to their policy regardless of paying a annually fee for the extended warranty the call center workers sound like robots saying the same thing no matter what you say all you here I'm sorry you can't speak to a supervisor there's no one over us Best Buy training their customer service people to hang up the phone without solving your problem only thing they know how to say will send refund rather you want a refund or not their mistake but the customers pay the price read more

In September 2022 I spent nearly $1000 for an unlocked Samsung flip phone. Everyone assured me there were no issues with this type of phone, that it had been on a flip tester machine for years and no problems. Just four months in and a pixel spot appeared at the center crease, followed by the phone not holding a charge. From there Best Buy sent me over to geek squad where they claimed there was a void in Warranty due to a scuff so small it needed a magnifying glass to see it . The experience was one of them passing the blame on Samsung but everyone in the store knew they were doing us wrong . Xander the manager was there when I purchased the phone, he was there when I was forced to buy a temporary replacement phone ( I run a small business from my phone) and he "went through the lethargic motions" of pretending to problem solve all the whole knowing the outcome was sorry sol. Best Buy is the mainstay of home electronics. I have nothing really negative to say about it as a chain. I know I'm getting a certain selection at a certain price with rotating sale prices that keeping me coming back. The store is clean, lines move fairly quickly, checkout and customer processes are easy and well-organized. I will occasionally not be able to find someone with expertise I need to help me when the store is busy. And calling them with a question is typically frustrating. But, who really needs to do that these days anyway? My most recent experience was positive. I had a gift to return and a laptop backpack to buy. We also had a question about "My Cloud" technology and spent ten minutes picking a sales associate's brain about how it worked. We decided to wait until the tech matured before taking the plunge. Then, I found that they had the bag I wanted (Synergy by Swiss) on the shelf for less than I spent on it at Fry's three years ago. Customer service was fast, coupla scans, a few more $$$ for the difference and done. So, thumbs up for Best Buy as a beachhead of TVs, computers, car stereos and mainstream tech products. Honestly, I will typically try Fry's first when shopping for computer gear because they have a larger selection, typically more competitive prices, and the staff I've interacted with have been a little more knowledgeable about the kind of modifications I do to my computer. But, when you know what you need, Best Buy is a great place to make your purchase! read more

Came in to pick up a movie that I saw online at Best Buy..... It stated that they had it in the store. So I jumped in the car and headed to the store. When I got there I had them look it up so I would know where to find it in the store. Well they did not have it in stock. I was also informed that their computer systems is not syned to the online store. I wish I would have known this before I headed all the way to the store. Luke in the phone department is amazing 6 months he helped me get my dad a apple 11 phone for my 86 year young dad. We were now coming in to replace that phone with a jitterbug/ live phone because it was to be easier to use for a senior. I have been waiting for 2 weeks for my dishwasher and for it to be installed. I finally got the dishwasher but when I call I get a scripted response to when someone will be out to install it. I asked for a supervisor because I couldn't get a straight answer about when someone would be installing it and the person kept saying the same scripted thing over and over. Geek Squad broke my phone after bringing it in for a battery replacement. General Manager came out and said "didn't you know this could happen"? like this happens all the time. I begged for my phone back since I use it for work, and they said they had to ship it off. After 1 hr of going back and forth they finally let me take my phone with me. So if you order anything at all . Don't show up till a day later because your item which should be ready Wednesday will not be ready till Thursday or later. Plus when you ask the employee where is your item and they tell you "well we don't get our truck in till Wednesday so your early" and than I proceed to remind them "it is Wednesday" and she says "oh, well than come back later" that doesn't really give you a good feeling. So far it's taken four trips to the Best Buy in Cedar Hill to have the battery changed in my iPhone. I took it in at 10 this morning after having paid for the services three days ago and I was told that it would be ready in three hours it is now nine hours later And I have no phone. I called the store to speak to the geek squad and ended up routed to some call-center elsewhere who could not give me a status on my phone other than to say the battery they installed didn't work they needed to order some more parts as well as a speaker, they weren't sure when the parts were coming in. They weren't sure when I'll have my phone back but I was never allowed to speak to anyone in the Cedar Hill Best Buy itself so I'm still not sure if or when I'm ever going to get my phone back. Best Buy Cedar Hill is better then Waxahatchie and Mansfield. At Cedar Hill the Geek Squad is operating the stores automotive stereo-and alarm system installation . I must say that Neal who leads the automotive system installation garage is incredible. Great customer service skills and he has deep technical understanding of the systems he installs. I recommend you ask for Neal- a true professional- he should be mentored to a leadership position. read more

Went in on Sunday to purchase a car stereo and a backup camera. I stood in the Car Audio department for thirty minutes waiting to be helped, not an exaggeration, and not one sales associate appeared. I found a young man stocking shelves and asked for assistance. Ten minutes later I was still standing all alone in the Car Audio department. I had enough and finally left with money still in my pocket. I had the same experience at a Best Buy in Ft. Worth. Maybe this is their new sales model. I love going to CedarHill, but not the Best Buy in CedarHill. I have been to other locations before and never had service like this . I was looking for a Kindle and there was no one around to help. The worst part was the cashier Janet. Janet was pregnant and obviously hating her job. No smile no have a nice day. Their Geek Squad is a fraud. We paid for a year that covered 3 computers. My computer was taken there a few days prior to the expiration of the one year service plan, because I was having problems with a virus and wanted it cleaned off my system. Before my computer was taken there, there was no problem with the operation of computer, after it was returned 3 days later I started getting a pop up error message every time I turned on my computer and I could no longer access the internet from any WiFi connection I tried. Before taking my laptop to their geek squad I NEVER had problems with my internet connection. Another family member had complained to me as well that anytime his computer was dropped off with a certain issue, it would come back (from their GEEK SQUAD) with several new issues. He would then have to call the Geek Squad at their corporate office, whom are waaaay more knowledgeable than their incompetent in-store Geek Squad, to actually help resolve these new issues and the old ones. By the time my computer was returned by Best Buy Geek Squad, it was out of the year service agreement, so they refused to take responsibility for it when I called the store. They unprofessionally blamed my computer for the issues, which I told them didn't make sense because I've never had those issues with my computer within the 5 years that I've had it, until they touched it. They claimed that they only did a diagnostic test and that in order for me to correct my internet connection issues, THEY CAUSED, and fix the computer error message, THEY CAUSED, that they would have to change my hard-drive and that they would have to charge me for that. I was confused.....what the heck did changing the hard-drive have to do with my wifi and internet connection no longer working. I ended the call because of the incompetence and called the corporate number that transferred me to a tech at Best Buy Corporate who giggled when I explained the issue to her and the fact that they said the hard-drive had to be changed to fix the issue. She didn't understand why the Cedar Hill Geek Squad would recommend that as well when that was obviously not the source of the issue. In a nut-shell, I don't recommend them for computer repairs. I think they're scammers and CREATE ISSUES IN YOUR COMPUTER so you pay for additional services that you don't need, or they just really hire people that have zero competence or it's a combo of both. I complained to corporate and told the supervisor that I didn't want to go back to the cedar hill store to have the issue fixed. For some reason, the store still called and offered to look at it again, but the manager couldn't guarantee that they would cause anymore damages.....so I never took her up on the offer. Instead I gave my computer to my friend, that is a computer engineer, and guess what? He fixed all the issues they created WITHOUT HAVING TO REPLACE MY HARD-DRIVE or any part of my computer, and it came back with no new issues. He also cleaned off the virus that they never did.
