1-Star Review -- Extremely Disappointed I ordered a Christmas gift from Best Buy and the entire experience was a disaster from start to finish. When my order shipped, they used a delivery company called Roadie, who couldn't communicate properly and wasn't able to navigate to my house. When I offered to meet them somewhere easier, they instead tried to refund my order and return it to the store without even delivering it. I contacted Best Buy support and they reshipped the order, and this time I chose pickup at the Hoover location to avoid any more delivery issues. The pickup date said Sunday, so we waited all day to pick it up--only to find out nothing was ready. When we asked an associate for help, they were rude and acted like they had no interest in helping us at all. At that point I'd had enough. I ended up getting everything refunded and I'll be taking my business somewhere else. Save yourself the frustration--I wouldn't recommend wasting your money or time here. read more

I purchased a 32" Samsung tv at this Hoover store in February 2026. I bought it in order to stream Roku, etc, and watch the local air channels. It proved nothing but trouble, as every time I turned it on it required me to sign in by typing on the remote my email and password which I entered in set up, thinking it would be a one time thing, or scan the QR code on the screen, but that took me to the sign in box again. I used the tv about 3 times, and the last straw was when it did not recognize my email or password. So, it was a completely useless device and wasted much of my time. (See similar reviews of Samsung 32H5000FF, and avoid it!) I tried to put this review on the BB site, but could not, probably since I took the tv back yesterday. They would only give me an in-store credit, so I took it. My other option was to smash the tv with a hammer or brick. I understand their rule about returns. However, the man who issued the credit was condescending, as much as said the geek squad would check it out and would just sell it again. He said I could send it back to Samsung. I said, why doesnt BB send it to Samsung and tell them to quit selling defective products. Anyway, he assumed that I did not know how to set it up and use it. So, he was arrogant, and rude. I have never liked BB, and even less now. At least I can give the credit to someone for a gift, if the store doesn't go out of business this year. read more

Please read, your going to die laughing like I did in the end. It would be much funnier if it weren't so sad. Imagine being a best buy member and paying for the ability to have everything you buy come with a warranty. A robot vacuum's sensors go out and you return it. The person being trained charges you a restocking fee $81.10. Manager was asked about it, and he confirmed restocking fee for a vacuum that doesn't work. I called the number on the receipt to contact Best Buy. They said, "No, you will get that refunded to your card, and keep the gift card as our gift for the inconvenience." This has been two months, 5 phone calls (not counting the multiple people talked to each time), a gift card's money returned to enable the credit card to be credited back, and have the customer service agent send another gift card instead of putting the money back on your card. Really, this is what happens when customer service is completely gone. Best Buy used to be great. Now, all calls are routed to anywhere, but the US. You can't ask to speak to a manager over the phone, because they must schedule to call you back in 30 minutes to an hour. I realize one family stopping their exclusive membership will not hurt Best Buy. Please reconsider becoming a Best Buy member, but if you are a member, know any return due to product failure is supposed to go through Geek Squad to fix or replace the item. Their managers are unaware of the Best Buy policy, and therefore they can charge a restocking fee for a product that doesn't work. Meanwhile from somewhere on the globe: Jack, our foreign accented phone supervisor, just called to say they do not have the ability to send credits or gift cards from the customer service number, yet the customer service number is the only place that sent me both of the gift cards. Y'all I am rolling laughing. Jack also said he is the one person over all of Best Buy's customer support calls and doesn't have any supervisor or manager throughout all of Best Buy. Y'all pity poor Jack, he is the only person over all customer service calls, and he is working at almost 8 PM on a Saturday night. You know, I'll consider the money I lost as entertainment fee. The employee when I finally got one said they have never had that product as long as he worked there for a year. Needed help finding a computer accessory. The shelves were mostly empty. I waited 20mins for someone to help me even though there were lots of employees available to help. The man who helped me said he didn't know and walked away. I asked him to walk around and look with me. He was less helpful than a random person and extremely rude tossing items toward me. I ended up needing to return my $33 item 16 days later. They would not accept the return because it was outside their 15day return policy. They offered me to pay $50 for a membership so I could get my $33 back. No thanks. I told the manager most stores give a gift card if outside the return window. He said "No they don't." I went to the Best Buy store in Hoover, Alabama, today - my first visit in a couple of years. The shelves appeared to be 2/3 empty. It looked like a store going out of business in a week or two. When I entered the store, I asked the kid at the front where I might find Micro SD cards. Rather than taking me to the product, he told me to "look over there past the camera sign." When I reached the approximate location, I found a selection of a handful of Samsung micro SD cards, none of which were the size I needed. I resolved myself to the idea that I would have to order from Amazon and wait a day. As I was leaving, I found another section of SanDisk cards on another aisle and selected the card I needed. By that time I had decided I definitely did not want to purchase anything else and headed for the registers. When I arrived at the registers, I was the first person in line. The cashier in front of me completed his transaction, and as I stepped forward, he walked away. He walked over to the front door to chat with the kid I saw on the way in and left me waiting in line. I concluded that he does not respect me as a customer or want my business - but I decided to wait and just get the card and go home. Another cashier completed a transaction, and rather than asking me to step forward, he walked over to talk with another cashier, delaying the completion of that transaction. After they finished their chat, he walked away and the cashier asked me to step forward. I'd been in line 8 or 9 minutes. It was time to check out and he asked for my phone number. I declined, and he began explaining how my life would be better if I gave him my phone number. I declined again and asked if he really wanted my business. He realized I simply wanted to buy an inexpensive item and leave. So, the next thing I saw was something on the screen asking if I wanted to donate money to some stupid program. He asked a couple of other questions, and I asked him to "please process my purchase and let me leave." He smirked and hit whatever button completed the transaction so I could exit the store one final time. I'm about to purchase $3000 worth of appliances for my son's new home. Tonight reminded my why I don't like shopping at Best Buy and especially this one. My son needed a new screen protector for his phone. I ordered it and paid online then sent him to get it. He came back saying that they needed my ID to pick it up. So I went with him. We were greeted by a rude woman saying we close at 8. It was 7:40, plenty enough time to get in line and pick up something that has already been paid for. I get to the register and I show the young man the barcode for the item on my phone, just like my son did, and he goes in the back to go get the item. I ask him, don't you need to see my ID? Another cashier, the one that refused to give my son the item even though he gave her his ID and we have the same uncommon last name, says " we are always suppose to ask for ID". The Hoover store and phone customer service were not the standard I am used to from Best Buy. If you ask, do I need a connector or anything else to connect to my computer, and they say no ma'am. You have everything you need. I showed them a picture of my computer that I also bought at best buy. I purchased a headset and a wonderful web cam to connect to my computer and drove the 30 minutes back home. Guess what the web cam needs a converter cable to connect to my computer. So now I have to drive back 30 minutes to the store, buy a cable, and then drive another 30 minutes back home. Best Buy was my go to store because they normally take the time to help me because i am older and not tech savy. Also, prior team members helped me acquire all things needed but not this time. I bought a pair of JBL wireless headphones on June 4, 2024 at "Best Buy". On June 30, 2024, one of the headphones stopped working. I took it back to the store where I bought it only 26 days earlier. There the person behind the counter told me this store only has a 14 day return policy and I was screwed. I've never heard of any store not accepting returns after less than 30 days. I guess they must know that the garbage they sell won't last for a whopping month. This is the LAST time I will ever darken the door of "Best Buy" which only stands behind products for 2 weeks. After waiting more than 15 minutes for service, a service representative, Tim P., finally appeared and went straight to another customer who happened to be white. He never asked who was there first. Did I mention that I'm also in a leg brace due to recent surgery? I explained to him that I had been waiting and he continued to make me wait while he served her first. This is myFirst time in a Best Buy in a long time. When I arrived I was greeted at the door and ask what I was looking for. I was a search for a new laptop and told the associate. He informed me that to speak with an associate I would have to give him my number I would receive a text notification when another associate was available kinda like what they do at restaurants). The wait wasn't long at all. While I was asking questions I almost touched the laptop LOL. The associate told me that they sanitize everything after the customer is gone. So they have to keep a mental note of what is touched. After looking around I finally made my purchase. When I arrived at the checkout area there was hand sanitizer readily available. When I finished my purchase the associate grabbed his bottle of cleaner and paper towel and wiped down the two laptops that I touched. I was very surprised by this. The service was fast the associate very knowledgeable. I'd highly recommend this location. Kudos to Best Buy for the way they're handling social distancing and COVID-19. read more

The absolute worst they have ever been. Circuit City 2.0. There is no way to resolve a situation with a human being. Best Buy no longer allows customers to reach management at a specific store--they have routed all customers to the Philippines, where customer service reps don't speak English as a first language and have no authority to solve problems. You have to drive to the store and ask for a manager. Most of the time, there is no store manager there. If you were wrongfully charged, the manager will email the situation to an invisible "Board" who reviews the problem and anonymously emails a decision. It may take a week or two. Amazon has better service and lower prices. So does Target. So does Walmart. Best Buy is in financial trouble, and frankly, could care less about its customers. Don't waste your money with them. read more

I've been to this Best Buy multiple times and my overall feeling of shopping here is meh. Keep reading and I'll explain why. When I walk in, the person at the stand normally says hello. For many visits, this was the only employee that voluntarily spoke to me. When I was in the store on yesterday, none of the employees ever asked if I needed help. (I'm looking to buy a new laptop so I could have easily spent $1000 or more.) I have used the buy online, pickup in store option. It doesn't always go smoothly, but they are not as bad as Walmart's site to store option so I'd say to give it a chance for inexpensive things. I've bought phone chargers, batteries, and small things like that because it was priced really good online versus walking in the store and buying it off the shelf. Best Buy has decent sales and a good selection of things so will I go back? Probably, but it's only because of the convenience. read more

My LG tones headset finally bit the dust and since they no longer insure them I was forced (in my opinion) to choose something other than this brand bcus they cashier told me how impossible it is it get a replacement done by the company. She barely looked up at me to acknowledge me and start asking me about a warranty. She then asks for my phone number my name and all this information without looking at me. So she doesn't see me standing there with my receipt extended to her with the original box my Bluetooth came in. All she had to do was look at me and take the receipt and scan it. Everything she needed was there if only she acknowledged me like a customer. I finally said ma'am. I think you need this. She then looked at me like it was fault that she didn't engage with me. She sent me over to where the headsets are and told me someone on the sales floor would help me. I browsed right behind a group of 3-5 salesmen for about 15 minutes before and listened to their conversations before I finally just interrupted them and asked for help. I asked for help deciding on which headset would compare to what I currently have. One guy pointed to shelf I have been standing at 15 minutes and said this is all we have and kept talking. Another guy let me explain the situation then turned and asked another to help this lady pick a good headset. He basically came over and picked the LG tones that they no longer insure and left me to my own devices. I ended up SETTLING on an insignia brand Bluetooth headset bcus they were the only brand that retracts the earbuds besides my LG tones that I wanted. I googled reviews on them and the reviews are great but there were some decent ones. There were no other options that didn't make me end up paying double for what my warranty covered. Got all checked out and got them home and they're big and clunky. The sound quality is HORRIBLE. Sounds like my callers and music are under water. They do NOT stay charged 10 hours. Maybe they do if you don't use it. It cuts off on its own so when you get a call you have to wait to cut it on to use it instead of answering the call from the Bluetooth. You can't walk off from your phone far at all bcus it disconnects quite fast. I'm highly disappointed in the customer service I received and the product they're selling. read more

We bought a $1500 refrigerator on Sept 3 and the delivery was scheduled for Oct 8. The delivery was scheduled for 3:30 pm. At 3:10 pm, 20 minutes before our delivery, we got a phone call canceling the delivery due to them not being able to fine the refrigerator!!! We were told that our delivers would have to be rescheduled for Oct 29!!! That is an 8 week delivery delay due to a paperwork screw up by Best Buy!!! My wife took off work to be at home. I'm disabled and I was unable to get around due a a week long illness. Best Buy acted very unprofessional and inconsiderate abould their screw up!!! I went to the Best Buy in Hoover where we purchased. The store manager and his two cronies were complete jackasses. I canceled the order and requested a refund of $650 we had made toward the purchase We are having to wait for our money. Best Buy is terrible and they showed no concern for their screw up!!! I went down the street to Home Depot and got the exactly same fridge. I'll NEVER EVER deal with Best Buy again. I believe that their delivery guys didn't want to deliver because of Saturday college football games. They totally screwed us up. I ordered an Apple Watch online, to be delivered the next day. They used Shipt and the package was "lost". After several hours on the phone trying to get it straightened out they promised delivery by Saturday as it was a Father's Day gift. It wasn't received and I didn't hear from Best Buy. On Monday, I went to the nearest Best Buy store to get the watch or a refund. The manager said that the 280 store was supposed to deliver it and there was nothing he could do. I told him I ordered it online. Didn't matter. So I clarified that he understood that I had paid for the merchandise, I had received nothing, that no one at Best Buy could tell me when I would get it and that he was saying there was nothing he could do. Yes that is correct and he chuckled. He thought it was funny that I had received horrible customer service from Best Buy. I ordered the watch from Amazon and received it in two days. So I went to Best Buy in Hoover, AL to ask about installing my new Tv on my wall, he said if I have the geek squad yearly protection plan it would only be $49.00 to install it but I had to call 1-888-GeekSquad to set it up.. I was excited because we do get the yearly Geek Squad protection, We love Geek Squad.... So I called Best Buy Installation, and after 4 different people and 5 hours and seven minutes on the phone I got nowhere!!! They said the guy at Best Buy told me wrong and the first 2 people I talked to on the phone gave me false info. I had to have the Total Tech. plan to get it for $49.00.. If I could give zero I would. I placed an appointment. Paid $150 for delivery. I have now been waiting 8 hours for them to arrive (2 hour after the allotted time) with no notice. I called the number they gave, I've been on hold 46 minutes. Even the cable company gives a smaller time frame and answers the phone. So $1,000 later I still have no TV, cannot reach anyone, and have wasted our most precious gift - time. As of this writing still on hold - 55 minutes. read more

I bought a $3,000 refrigerator that was suppose to be delivered yesterday. The delivery guy called the day before to say he would deliver between 12-4, I told him he would have to call me beforehand so I could meet him, he agreed. I waited all day, no phone call. I called customer service at 5:00, I spoke to 3 different people, each time having to explain what happened. They told me he had tried to deliver at 1:00, there was someone there all day and he never showed up. After being on the phone with Best Buy for 1.5 hours they said they would call me back in 30 min., 15 hours later still no call. I just called again & the wait time to speak to someone is 28 minutes. Stopped by to look at the laptops and the tablets for some Christmas shopping. This is a pretty large BB as far as the footprint goes. This gives them a bit more room to spread out, though the layout of the store is similar to others. Televisions, computers, media, kitchen appliances, cell phones, all have their own sections and their own blue shirted experts. But if you don't make eye contact, they won't ask you if you need any help. read more

I went into a Best Buy store in Hoover, Al to purchase an oven. The associate checking us out was going to save us some money by finding us the best deal. James D said that if we purchased their Tech Support Membership it would save us money. The final price was $2980. I declined enrolling in the program b/c I really did not want a membership I would never use and would have to cancel later. Turns out, my end total was $2668!! Went in this location and asked the people at the door about getting a sim card for a translator. They had no idea how to help and told me and my wife to go to the cell phone area. Two employees were waiting a woman and no one else was in the area and we were sitting right next to the registers. When they finished with the woman I looked at them and they walked off and talked a few isles over and then walked around to the back R corner of the store and then I lost sight of them. Then a young man came into the area about 5 minutes later and picked up a cell phone case and one of the two showed and and waited on him immediately and I stood up and walked toward the employee and he walked off. Then the two employees came back in the area about 10 minutes later and I tried to speak and they walked away again when I started to talk and again immediately helped someone else who came into the area after we had been there for a while now. They went straight to the two others and ignored us and they were not busy. Very bad customer service and waste of time. It does not take two employees to see one customer and ignore us who had been waiting a long time but that is what they did two of the three customers they waited on and just dissed us. I will be calling the manager tomorrow and corporate as well. This is the worst Best Buy in the area but all of them have that I'm doing you a favor or you are bothering me attitude. Went to Best Buy in Trussville just 4 days earlier and there was no one willing to help right away although 3 employees were just standing around. I have been to several Best Buy locations and this is not my favorite...by a long shot! For those unaware of the offerings they have TV's, Appliances, Computers, Tablets, Printers, Phones, Head Phones, Fitness devices, Video Games, Movies (DVD, Blu Ray, 4K) and music. This particular location has decent stock on the shelf. If you pre-order items (media) there is a chance they will not get it on the release date as is promised (has occurred more than once to me). Customer service is hit or miss. There are some people there that care, but there is a good handful that definitely put in minimal effort. One plus, they are willing to price match online retailers so you can have in hand same day if they have it on their shelf. read more

I also had to deal with long wait lines and rude and clueless employees, clueless about their products and not helpful when shopping.
