I come to this B&N frequently. It's a great place, there are only a few issues. One is that they reorganize the books CONSTANTLY. You will go there once and return a few weeks later and it will look like a whole different store, which makes things difficult to locate. They also change what amount of a genre they have frequently. I use to come and they had DOZENS of classics in the penguin classic model. They would all be the little black penguin paper back, all together in one place. But now there are barely any classic novels on the shelves, and they no longer offer a large selection of the paperback penguin classics. They're all cloth bound, hardback, or leather. Which is pretty, but not super concert if you're not looking to drop 30-40 dollars on a book. They have a ton of YA books to choose from, but I rarely see many people wandering that aisle, it's usually the classic aisle that I see more people I have to squeeze through. Another issue is that the workers can get kind of annoying. I know they're just doing their job, and if they don't then they will probably get fired, but sometimes I will no joke have workers seeming to follow me throughout the store. One minute you're looking at Brontë and the next someone pops up, "Finding everything alright?". I get it, they can't help it but it gets a little strange. I was once in the section near the register looking at some of the Smithsonian books, and a worker was just lurking. Not stocking shelves, not arranging anything, just lurking. I had no idea why. She didn't even ask me anything, she was just watching me like a hawk. Surely she could trust I wouldn't steal anything-- those Smithsonian books weigh a ton! It was kind of creepy. This really is a good B&N though, only critique is the weird rearranging and harassment. read more

This particular Barnes & Noble is definitely an asset to the bookstore chain. The staff are friendly and helpful oh, they have a nice selection of books, the store is clean, everything about this place made it an enjoyable visit. Even the parking was plentiful. With Christmas around the corner, I began stopping in places like this while I am traveling for business and picking up a few items. I managed to get three books on sale, so I thought that I had a good deal. Of course, Alabama state sales tax kind of steps into that a bit, that is no reflection on the bookstore. I would definitely recommend a visit here hear it there are also plenty of other stores around, if you want to do a bit of shopping overall. As I am writing this, it is already midway through October, so Christmas will be here before we know it. I definitely recommend this particular location of Barnes & Noble. I love this store. It feels great just to come inside and see all the books and magazines! I even found a book on this visit on Alabama walking trails with your dog! I came with my granddaughters and stopped at the cafe for a drink and a snack too. We had a nice visit and enjoyed browsing the selection of books. read more

I have been here many times. Just bought two books here Friday. They have a better selection of the books I like to buy than my local Booksamillion. Their prices are higher than on Amazon. Thats the truth! But I hate to wait on books so I cough it up. I usually can get help pretty fast . The place is huge . We got a discount card it helps. They do rearrange frequently which annoys me so much. Cause I like to get the books I want fast and bug out! I got places to b! Bathrooms usually clean. They have geeky items that me and my son likes Kirby, Funko , big stuffed pillow cinnamon roll(yeah he wanted it and I being the adult said uh you need a bigger bed with all you you have on there now) we always stop by when we are in the area . read more

First of all, I have to admit that I've never really gotten over Borders closing which was my all time favorite book store so I've always kind of held a grudge against Barnes and Noble. That being said, this particular B&N is starting to grow on me. This location is pretty big and they have a lot to offer. They have definitely improved in the organization of the books, especially the ones in front. I particularly like the bit 2 get 1 free section. This is the section I tend to gravitate towards because they generally seem to be bestsellers in paperback. I can always find three books there to buy. The kid also found three books that she wanted, not on the buy two get one free table though! I had signed up to be a member there so I had gotten a coupon in the mail for 20% off a new YA book so at least we got 20% off one! They also have a large section of puzzles which I enjoy going through because I usually pick up a puzzle for my brother. They had a whole section of Ravensburger Disney puzzles which would be a really nice gift for anyone who likes puzzles. They also have a decent selection of games if you are looking for a gift or want a new game for the family to play. There is a section in the back that they haven't quite figured out what to do with. It used to be for CDs and vinyl and there is still some of that there but it just seems unfinished. Hopefully they figure out what to do there. They have a little coffee shop with drinks and pastries if you want to relax and read your book. The store offers free wifi and this would be a great place to come to next time I lose power at the house and need to work. I will drive right past the Starbucks and come here instead! read more

The Starbucks cashier was a very nice elderly lady who was very patient while we fumbled to order. The young lady at the boo register almost made me curse her but ehhhh she made it. The ultimate burn 30-45 min store. Coffee shop inside is nice! Great selection of books and magazines. Great location in Patton Creek! Only real negative is their prices on toys and games. Perhaps I just haven't been in a bookstore in a looonnng time, but this one is nice! Went in last night and the store was populated yet quiet... not in an eerie kind of way, but you know... in the way that a decent bookstore should be :) The entrance is well lit with a nice, big sales display of various Samsung/Nook tablet/reading devices. Of course you have the coffee, holiday gifts/stocking stuffer stuff scattered about and ummm, BOOKS!! There's also a round kiosk of sorts that looks as if it should have registers, but nope... more like a librarians desk at a public library... only there for help/research purposes. The associate who was in this area was very helpful, allowing people I was with to order a book that was no longer physically on the shelf and also answered other intriguing questions about the store and their processes! read more

Very clean store and easily accessible location across from the galleria. They had every book my daughter wanted in stock. Bathrooms were very clean as well. Everything was very easy to find and well organized. Our cashier was super sweet and patient with my daughter as she used multiple gift cards and Christmas money. As far as Barnes and Noble are concerned they seem to follow a pretty standard design and this one is no different. As you enter you will find immediately in front of you the newest releases and hottest items. As you go through the store they have one of the largest selections of magazines I have ever seen anywhere (typical for a B & N). As you continue through the store the have every type of book you could want....do it yourself/informational, fiction, non fiction...you name it they have it. They are also a good location for some unique gift ideas. From games to movies and music they have a little bit of everything for that person on your list. Pretty good selection of clearance/discounted books to browse through as well. If you buy enough stuff they have a book B&N Membership you can buy, but it doesn't typically pay off for me to use...but check it out, you may benefit from it. Also, if you don't see what you like find an associate and they can look at their online facility and probably track down what you are after. read more

The store is packed with books, music, board games, stationary writing supplies, knick knacks, etc. I am very appreciate of barnes and nobles for the upkeep of the giant building with lots of inventory and great selection of books as well as areas to sit in comfortable chairs for their customers. I absolutely love Barnes & Noble but I have never been so frustrated at one. Bruce K from this store followed my friend and I around as we browsed the sketch books. He would leave for a few seconds and then return to "organize" books around us at a very close proximity. It was very obvious that he was watching us to make sure we weren't stealing anything. Keep in mind we only had a very small fanny pack and a super small cross body bag (not even as big as my hand) while wearing a fitted tank top & jeggings and my friend wore short shorts and a t-shirt. If we were going to steal anything I'm not sure where the hell we would put it. After following us around the sketch books for 15 mins he called over a friend to watch on the other side. Once we were ready to check out he gave us step by step instructions on how to use the chip on our debit cards... Come on dude... Really? We know how to use them trust me. This is a very relaxing location. Nobody bothers you, and the even have a Starbucks store with adequate seating. As an avid reader, I like to visit this location, have a coffee, and roam through the aisles for a good book. Let's not forget, they have lots of magazines, and they aren't afraid to try something new. The service is fast, and the restrooms are always clean. Way to go Barnes & Noble :) read more

This barnes and nobles is located in Hoover at Patton Creek. Parking here is ample, day or night. Staff is helpful and the store is fairly clean and organized. The selection of books here can be a bit spotty, but still adequate overall. Children's corner is cute - so adorable seeing wittle munchkins with wittle books. In terms of pricing, you may be able to get bargain deals in the store, but usually Amazon offers competitive pricing. However, that is not always the case, so be sure to price compare. I've also heard about barnes and nobles online price match, so check to see if that policy still stands. Overall, i recommend this place. Starbucks in BNN is definitely an added bonus! I love coming here when i'm in town, grab some coffee, and indulge myself reading - kinda like my personal sanctuary. read more

This is a pretty standard B&N with some differences I think. They seem to have more seating in the on location Starbucks. Plus they seem to have more seating throughout the store to just sit and read. Wonderful selection of....yep.....books. Also huge selection of magazines. Children's section is very clean and it has a lot of special events. The thing I might like about this place the most is the staff. These people love this job and it shows. They are so happy to help with anything you need. The staff doesn't bother you. they walk around, smile and say hi. But if you ask they jump to the rescue. We should all read more. This isn't a bad place to start. read more
