This place has been in the West End forever! And they seem to be regularly busy. I am forever searching for the best falafels in the area so I tried them out! The place is pretty big and was very busy. It seems like a lot of regulars hit this spot up. I was surprised at the cost of their falafel platter - $20. But the food amount is easily 2 to 3 meals. The website states it comes with Falafel, served with rice, hummus, baba ganough, green salad, tabouleh salad, pickles, with tahini and hot sauce. Note: It does not come with baba or tabouleh. It was a bit sad to see them microwaving the rice and falafel. And they used the same tongues they used for the meat as the falafels. However, the food was good. The pomegranate dressing in the salad was nice. The falafels are huge and the homemade green sauce they add is delicious. The garlic sauce is amazing and I wished we had more. Pretty standard donair place based on the falafel platter I got. Interesting thing here is they also have burritos/burrito bowls and poutine. The woman behind the counter misheard my order and then forgot my hot sauce after remaking it, but she was very nice. The only major complaint I have about the platter is that the pickles were insanely salty. Yes, I have had and enjoyed pickles before, I know how pickles are made, but these didn't taste like anything but salt. The whole thing was also a little on the oily side between the salad dressing and the oil or butter in the rice, but the falafels were decent and the salad seemed like it was fresh but had just been drenched in a little too much dressing. I liked the hummus! Just the right portions of everything too, some places are overbalanced with the amount of hummus or rice, but they didn't give too much and filled up that extra volume with more salad, which is how I like. It was acceptable, but won't be my top choice going forward since there are donair shops closer to where I work that are more to my taste (where the pickles taste like vegetables and not ocean water), but it could be worth a try if it's convenient for you. Overpriced food that is average at best. Ingredients don't seem fresh. The service is extremely slow. The owner seems to be the only one there who is busy on the phone or doing something else. I've been coming here now for the past 3 months, which a friend of mine swore by. You'd likely not suspect this hidden gem to be such a treat at first glance. However this family owned food stop is a must!! It's good for an on the go order or a sit down with a fair amount of seating. When I go alone or with friends we like to take the seats at the window which allow us to show off our awesome tacos to the curious passer-bys while we get to enjoy some people watching. The food price is certainly a bang for your buck and the quality has yet to be dissappointing!! Those tacos are a mountain high of meat and veggies and very tasty sauces and can be a great share snack for 2 or 1 good portioned healthy meal. The food stop is open late which is nice because now a days with COVID it can be difficult to find healthier and affordable late night options. The owner is very pleasant and has unbelievably welcoming hospitality even when he is very busy doing his take out orders and other customers who are waiting for their food. If you start to come regularly he tends to remember your specifics which is nice too. ( I am not a fan of onions which he has made note of when I order without a reminder.) Recently I've been bringing my dog Diamond with me because I'm trying to get my 10,000 steps in and although he has mentioned he is very phobic of dogs due to childhood trauma and doesn't get close to her he offers her a generous portion for her to enjoy complimentary which I find so heart warming and kind. She always appreciates it as I'm sure you'd not be surprised to read. Anyways!! Place is a comfy and low key with a great price and variety. The atmosphere is very casual but he's always got good music vibing and clean tables/restaurant. Donair meat slices were great, nice and juicy bc thick 1/4" but limited salad fillings of lettuce tomato (esp compared to Donair Dude across street) means drier bite, and much less satisfying. Large grilled pocket just didn't fill my Dnr-tank. 3/5 for Donair We came here to sit down and relax and check out a new place. With a few tables against booth and street view high counter seating, nice coat of paint and chandelier, it definitely wins the mood for lounging vs dine and dash or take out. 2 beer choices, Pilsner was pretty good with light body and honey finish and a lager, even lighter acc to owner. Wanted an IPA but at least you can get suds :D. Dining room gets steamy so a large industrial fan blows cheapening the nicer decor but probably doesn't bother the majority. 3.5--4 Decor and Beer Donair poutine chix or beef/lamb had shaved slices over tasty brown gravy with melted cheese and Fresh sliced potato fries yum. So appreciative of the real spud, less common in US quick serves. Still wish there was a pickled pepperoncin or pickled red cabbagei to cut the fat and add color. Served in to-go containers saves on cost, and with plastic forks which I understand but really hurts environment :/ BYOFork signs might be our future 3.5--Poutine Would come for beer and poutine, but have to stick to Donair Dude for my D-fix. read more

Decided to try this place out, since it's fairly new and I'm also fairly new to donairs. I stopped by around lunch to get a chicken donair, and decided to grab a beef samosa too just to see what it was like, which the staff offered to me with some nice tzatziki sauce. For the most part, I loved both the donair and the samosa. They were both heavily seasoned, and the chicken especially was coated in all kinds of flavours with a slightly spicy undertone that went really well with the rest of the fillings. The beef filling was slightly dry, maybe, but still tasted great! And for only $3, the samosa in particular felt like a bargain. That said, both the donair and the samosa also shared the same flaw - the wrappings (the pita for the donair, the pasty for the samosa) were kind of tough and overly chewy. It wasn't a huge deal, and in a way chewing the food for longer helped me enjoy the filling more, but it didn't quite feel as nice as some other pitas or samosas I've had with softer shells. Still, maybe it was an off day? The managers seemed very nice and the place itself was pretty quite even at lunch, so it was a nice place to sit for a few minutes and eat. I'd be curious to come back and try something else, to see if the bread toughness was a one-off, since the filling itself was so good. read more

5 star staff; 3 star flavour. But 5 star donair poutine. When Best Bite opened, several colleagues had gone to try it and they all raved about the donair poutine. On a whim I ordered it over the phone one day and when I went to pick it up I got to witness the cook packing a box to max capacity with fries and meat and sauce and it was a site to behold. The box did not close with the crispy, saucy goodness. He asked me if I wanted the green sauce and the chipotle sauce and you better believe that I did and that I will always want those sauces on my donair poutine. I had returned on a couple occasions for the poutine and it did not disappoint. However, the experience my friends and I had with the beef/lamb plate was on the underwhelming side. The meat was dry and cut into larger than bite sized pieces, the salads and pickled veggies weren't anything special - the only thing I enjoyed were my fries with the green sauce and the chipotle. The staff was super nice though! And I will definitely go back for donair poutine, but as far as the donair plate goes - I would go elsewhere that has juicer meat. read more

They have a display of veggies and toppings which for some reason reminded me of subway. I ordered a beef donair and I think the best part of this was that they toasted my donair in a panini press! Best chicken plate on Davie St... (Yes I said it) Tasty little salad and tabouli, housemade hot sauce, juicy, well marinaded chicken with a crispy skin, flavourful rice that isn't dry... Restaurant was clean and service was pleasant. Challengers are Donair Dude; I've been going there since he opened his first location. It's OK. Chicken really doesn't have a lot going for it and it is a monotonous meal I'm sorry to say. Healthy but monotonous. The other Challenger is Al-Basha, better than Donair Dude and good quality, but still not quite my jam. My ultimate favorite is MacFalafel at W 10th and Alma due to how flavorful their chicken is. Best-Bite is a close second.. a pleasant surprise! And I'm glad I gave them a chance and stopped in to grab a bite! read more

* Bland in a crowded market * This new donair spot also serves poutine and tacos - covering many of the favourite late night eats in the area that are served with places specializing in one of those three. I'm always cautious when a place tries to do too much, and unfortunately that caution was warranted. I ordered the chicken donair ($8.50). The veggies were very fresh. But that is where the good news ended for me. The pita used was a commercial supermarket type pita, and it was crumbly. In other words, not particularly fresh, and already falling apart before it even had anything put into it. The pita was filled with those fresh veggies and one of the blandest chicken donair I've ever experienced. It had been sliced and was sitting in a steamer, so it tasted very much like steamed chicken rather than those rich flavours one would expect with donair. They added all the sauces before wrapping it and grilling it, so that bland filling got further marinated in the sauces and then warmed up. So you got a warm runny tzatziki mixed with warm slightly running hummus. It basically created a bland mushy mess in a pita that was falling apart. Oddly the hot sauces that were added didn't help with the blandness at all. Not sure why. That was wrapped and served in a napkin instead of a basket - even though there were plenty of tables and this is not a primarily take-out spot. Odd serving choice (and the reason for no picture as I couldn't put it down without it all falling apart). Overall there are much better options for donair within a 2 minute walk. I didn't try the tacos or poutine, but I imagine the taco focused and poutine focused places within a 3 minute walk would also be better. This one is a definite skip for me. read more

I go here for the falafel wrap. It's good falafel, with lots of veggies, peppers and pickles to pick from. Friendly guy loads it up according to your wishes and then grilles the finished wrap to perfection. Make sure you get the finishing scoop of hummus or babaganoush on top! There's almost a half-dozen falafel places in the 1000-1100 block of Davie and this place is my current favourite. 'Nuf said. read more

The fellow who served me was so friendly and treated me with the upmost respect. The restaurant is run by Imad, who is always friendly, and who is helped during busy times by his equally family. I once visited another donair restaurant in the area, Donair Dude, but I found their food dry and rather tasteless in comparison to Best Bite Donair, and the servers there were very impersonal in comparison to Imad and his lovely family. The quality of this take away restaurant is superb. The greek salad is made beautifully with a lebanese fusion. The tabouli was fresh and not mushy and the flavour transported me back to Lebanon and reminded me of Beirut. I ordered the plated donair . The chicken was intricately seasoned and cooked to perfection. Not overcooked or burnt. It was tender, juicy bursting with flavour. I found the meat not to be overly greasy.
