Just came home from having my first massage here. I suffer from migraines and often carry a lot of weight on my neck which can end up causing me day after day of tension headaches and migraines. After talking to Austin on the phone, he suggested I see Tracy. She was really warm and friendly and did a really great job working out some tight muscles and making suggestions about what I should try in the next few days to keep them loose and start feeling better. I also really liked the friendly nature of the staff and how professional they were without being like a doctor's clinic and relaxed enough without being like some new age spa bullshit. It was just a great, clean, professional place to get some body work done so I can get back to feeling better. And I really do feel better already. Thank you Tracy and Austin! Also, their prices are very reasonable. I am not used to tipping for massage as I've always had mine done in more clinical settings (would you tip your doctor? your dentist?) but the price was fair enough that I could include a small tip if I chose to. It's also reasonable enough with their different options and specials to let me keep coming back for more regular treatments which is really crucial for people with chronic headaches etc. read more

So i came here to follow my acupressure massage therapist. Unable to get an appointment right away with her, probably because she is awesome! Ended up seeing chiropractor Sage. So to make a long story short, I stop seeing chiropractors period. Due to I had a bad experience with a neck adjustment with one and never went back! But I was in so much discomfort and pain and couldn't wait for the massage therapist next appointment. I decided to look into and read about Sage and it eased my anxiety about chiropractors and give her a chance! She took her time and asked me a lot of questions past and medical history etc. I joined the membership for $80 A month for 6months because financial it was a better deal. I knew that I was going to have to comeback and see Sage again which I did! She also was able to give me a bill to submit to my insurance since I do have chiropractic coverage. After my 2nd visit I was again! Now to make time to see my acupressure massage therapist to maintain. I live in Hayward and it's worth the driving to Alameda to see both of them! Was recommened by a friend to go here (Thanks Ray) and because it was close to work and close to home.. I decided to give it a shot. I booked online... and what a great deal.. If you book online for the first time your massage is only $49. When you book it shows $59 for a Swedish Massage but after the massage they tell you that you have a $10 credit. So I first get there Liz greats me with a friendly smile and welcomes me into the room. An hour later... For a clean, legit place not located in some city's Chinatown, this place is remarkably inexpensive. If you buy a monthly membership, the prices just become outrageously affordable. That only makes sense if you get massages, like, every week, but still. If you buy massages in packs of five, they become $50-something per hour. I had Tracy. She was fantastic. I read through all the driving related posts, and I had a GPS, and directions, but I still got lost. Give yourself an extra 20 minutes on your first appointment. You'll be glad you did. read more

My boyfriend and I came here today for a couples massage to celebrate our anniversary, this was our second time. The lobby has nice massage chairs for you to sit in while you wait. We had our massage in a room, beds on the opposite sides of each other light the shape of an L, I guess so the therapists have room to walk around. I had amber, she was really good and soft hands, so relaxing and rejuvenating especially with the music they play in the room. My bf had Tracy, he said she was really good and got all the right spots with just the right amount of pressure. They both did a really good job and we left happy. My girlfriend and I have gotten couple massages here a few times and find ourselves constantly wanting to go back. The service is superb, they meet all your needs and anticipate your needs as the massages take place. The couples massages are in a large, quiet/relaxing room that provides a great experience. They also have a great staff to choice from well in advance or when you arrive. It seems to be key, since your needs maybe different from visit to visit. I tend to go with therapists that focus on golfers, skiers and hard computer users. Haven't been disappointed yet. The other shocking thing is their pricing. I feel like they are so cheap compared to the competitors in the area and provide an expensive experience (in all the good ways). I seem to find deals either being apart of their blank emails and through Yelp emails. You're missing out, if you haven't made a visit yet. I'm very, very picky about body work - I've had lots, and it's hard to impress me. Mikeh is amazing - very knowledgeable about muscles and trigger points and how to unlock the things that made me go ouch. I feel much better, even after only one session! Yes, yes, yes! Who would have thought an industrial office park hid a place of peace and restoration? I went for a chair massage, because I am a suspicious chicken. She and the whole place were wonderful, and I will be back for a table massage soon. I love the online reservations thing -- how perfect, to sit in my chair with my shoulders stuck in my ears, thinking, Oh, I would do anything for a massage -- and making the appointment is just a few clicks away! When I first came to Body Technique about a year and a half ago, I was in love. I took advantage of a first-time client discount for massages, so it was really cheap. I left feeling like I was on Cloud 9. Compared to other places like Massage Envy, Body Technique offers way cheaper massage services. I went back yesterday to take advantage of a 20% discount they offered within 2 weeks after my birthday. I booked a 75 minute massage with Dory. Dory was amazing. She immediately started off by asking about problem areas that I would like for her to concentrate on and if there were any areas to avoid. I'm a sucker for anyone who pays attention to small details so I knew that I would definitely be booking with Dory again. She applied the perfect amount of pressure. I would definitely come back to Body Techniques in the future, but there are a few things that I would pay more attention to for my next visit. There seems to be no communication between the receptionist and the massage therapist. My 75 minute massage was cut down to 60 minutes because, well, I'm assuming Dory had no idea. The massage had put me in a very generous mood, so I didn't feel like making a scene. I approached the receptionist after my massage and she told me that I was "all set" since I had paid before the massage beforehand. As I mentioned before, I'm a sucker for small details so this was a huge turn off for me. I told her that I wanted the difference back. She offered no apologies and only thanked me for my patience while she went to go get my money. An apology would have been nice. A future discount would have been even better. Also, during my massage there was people talking right outside my door laughing hysterically, which I found to be very distracting while I was relaxing. It bothers me that I would have to request for components that I thought would be standard in this type of business like a quiet environment and receiving what I actually paid for. I would come back here again if I need a Swedish massage, but there's nothing here that ties to me be loyal to this place. Overall, I would recommend this place to others. This review is for their corporate services, not for the location services. So, I'm not sure this is the right place for it, but here goes. I've been fairly impressed with the quality of their massage therapists, as far as technique goes. While this isn't the fault of BT, I kinda wish the screening process looked for a couple of things. Since they are representing BT, it seems appropriate. First off, the therapists have a difficult time showing up on time or even showing up. Being a therapist on a corporate gig is hard - I get it, because there aren't a lot of people willing to jump in. I was a massage therapist for nine years and I know it's tough. But when people sign up and count on you to show up, do it. If there is a cancellation, knowing about it ahead of time sets my (the client's) expectations appropriately. I've had twice where they hadn't shown up and twice where they were late - and this is a once-ever-two-weeks gig. Second, don't text when you're giving a massage. Don't play with your cell phone, don't engage about my life. Let the client decide who talks and who doesn't. Some clients are chatty-cathy's but others, not so much. The texting or fooling with the phone is really my main beef. Lastly, I'd really like it if the payments could be processed at the time of the service or within a few days of it. Right now, they seem to take anywhere from two weeks to two months to be processed. When something goes through on my card, I have no idea which massage it was for. So, the delay in CC processing is... annoying. I do have to say that Austin is highly responsive and does call and contact and follow up. Like that a lot. I just wish the corporate massage therapists had the same great work ethic. read more

My mom went here for a facial and body massage. I got the body massage with Mike-H and my mom had the facial with Kate. It's both of our first time and definitely not the last! We found a deal at groupon from this place $39 for a 60 minute body massage or 60 minute facial. It's pretty damn good deal! You would never imagine that there's actually a massage place in the area where they at since it is surrounded by offices. We tried to leave early since I read the reviews that the place is hard to find and I don't want to be late for the appointment. It was right! We couldn't find it inside the building and felt like we were on a maze for about 5mins. Lol So yeah, try to get there early especially if it's your firs time! Let's talk about the massage! OH. I have been coming to BT for years now and this is specifically for Kate. I was involved in a horrible car accident and had been experiencing serious neck pain. Kate was the first person, (definitely not my doctors or PT), to figure out that the cause of the pain was from my IT band. After one massage I felt 100% better even though I continue to get massages every two weeks. I had also discussed facial care with her and started on a package. My blind in one eye husband even began to notice how dewy and fabulous my skin was looking. I have 2 more treatments left in this package and cannot wait to see the final results. She is very intuitive and I strongly recommend her - just don't take my appointment times! I have had many massages over the years, beginning with MikeH - who I still cannot believe how strong she is and always does a wonderful job to Nick who makes me laugh during the really crunchy parts when I should be feeling pain as he digs in deep. Been going for several years since they opened; consistently excellent. Yesterday I came home after a weeklong work trip dehydrated, filled with knots, and in a foul mood. Today I tried an oxygen facial as well as the usual deep-tissue, and Tammy and Traci hit it out of the park. The O2 facial is very interesting; it foams up and pops off, and looks like timelapses of glaciers receding. It feels like rain washing shampoo suds off the face. While its busy doing its thing, she does focuses on the neck and shoulder and foot massage. Next was Traci's deep tissue, which was nothing short of amazing. It was often painful--toe curling, groan-inducingly so--but she found every knot and the results are worth it. She really fixed me. A perfect way to hit the reset button. read more

EXCELLENT deep tissue massage from Mikeh (pronounced Mike H.)---a very skilled masseuse. I bought the Yelp deal for $50 for $65 which gets you an hour long Swedish. The deep tissue was $10 extra which I found out when I presented the voucher number. No problem. It was worth it (plus it went a bit over an hour because Mikeh spent more time on my back). BONUS: You get to decompress in massage chairs while you wait for your therapist to come get you. The staff are really nice. I surfed and surfed YELP for a good massage place and boy did I find the best place in the most illogical place in Alameda/Oakland. So I set my appointment up with the receptionist and arrived at the time I was suppose to be there. I had to wait a bit which I didn't mind. I was able to sit and speak with the owner of body techniques. He inquired into my services and the receptionist mentioned that I was with Kate. He stated that Kate is really good. He told me up front that Kate was new but she was a good addition to the business. I was eager to get to my service. I got the facial and massage. After getting to the room I was able to add a wax service with no problem because I was the last client. Can you say DE-VINE????? That's right... I said DE-VINE. Let me first say I am a vet of wax services (Brazilian etc.), facials, and massages. I thoroughly enjoyed my complete service. I was so relaxed that I went home and cook a big dinner for my entire family. About 3 weeks later (this week), Kate emailed me about how the products she suggested were working. I was thorough impressed because I have never been contacted after a service which meant that this young lady cared about my business. I would like to say that Body Techniques is my official staple. I will visit them again and have recommended them to many friends and family. The only down side???? The lady charged my credit card which she said she wouldn't and it reflected on my business card. Oh, Body Techniques, why are you located in such a bizarre area? I thought I was driving to the airport at one point, but nope, I managed to find this place alright... it's located in this business center, so there's plenty of parking. Anyway, I purchased a Yelp deal back in December and never got a chance to use it until recently... and oh boy, I was super glad I bought that Yelp deal! Thank you, Mikeh (pronounced "Mike-H") for giving me an hour of relaxation and a much needed deep-tissue massage! I haven't gotten a proper massage for quite some time, so I have really tense shoulders and neck from work-related stress and anxiety. Anyway, she was able to work them and loosen them up. I'm also ticklish on my lower back area, but Mikeh was able to accommodate and work around that. I felt extremely relaxed and calm after my hour session! I was one extremely happy customer. This place is definitely not your typical luxury spa resort with fresh fruit platters and fancy robes. I had my massage with Kylie (spelling?), and it was the best massage I've ever gotten! I'm really, really tense so I need a lot of deep work, and I was really impressed with her strength and technique -- she definitely kept it up the whole time, which was a really nice surprise because I thought she would probably get tired! This review is for Mike-H. I absolutely loved her and thoroughly enjoyed my massage. She provided me with my second prenatal massage, and it completely blew the first one I had (with another therapist elsewhere) out of the water. Mike-H knows massage, and she has a great personality. I like a firm touch, and told her as much, as well as areas I wanted her to focus on, and she was very attentive to that. She has strong and skilled hands, and is really just amazing at what she does - and I am very picky about my massages. If you like a lackluster massage, Mike-H is not your gal. If you like a great, relaxing, skilled one, she's the one for you. I plan on continuing to see her throughout my pregnancy and afterwards. She's completely won me over. Massage is one of my addictions, but it can get expensive. That's when Groupon comes to the rescue. The downside? In the wise words of Forrest Gump: "You'll never know what you're gonna get." Body Techniques is a sure bet. Especially if your therapist is Telyah. First of all, I arrived late, and Telyah happened to be at the front desk. Instead of wasting precious minutes filling out paperwork, she suggested we got started right away, which we did. She was wonderful, the right amount of pressure and very good technique. She is very conscientious and kind. I can honestly say she is one of the best therapists I've been with, and I have had a LOT of massages. Why the four stars? I was turned off by the location (way out in the boonies) and the office building (not very spa-like.) It was still a wonderful experience, and I highly recommend it. read more

I had a wonderfully relaxing prenatal massage and can't wait to go back. This isn't your fluffy spa appt where your $ goes to fancy water and frozen grapes. I work in the same business park that Body Techniques is in & must say that over the years I keep going back to them although usually that is when I can take the back pain anymore. I've had massages all over, The Claremont & all through Napa/Calistoga and have to say that they are one of the best. Two weeks ago, I went in for an appointment with Tracy and found her to be very attentive to what my issues were. She was very kind, used the right amount of pressure and even gave me advise on ways to stretch out. Had gone back to see her this past Monday and was just as happy with her then as the first time, will be going back in a couple more weeks for more. Not only are they in a convenient location, parking is super easy, they are all real nice, the rooms feel like a real spa even though they are situated in an office complex and the pricing is even better. I am recovering from surgery and needed a lot of help. My body was taking way too long in the healing processes. I had seen Body Techniques in the past to help with bulging disks in my neck and didn't hesitate to call them again. I was set up with Lauren and SHE WAS NOTHING SHORT OF AMAZING! In a one-hour period she helped the body blow off a great deal of pain and shock from the surgery and really got the body moving quickly forward in the healing process. After a good night's sleep, I awoke the next morning to the feeling of a complete change for the better. IT WAS LIKE NIGHT AND DAY. I had my first massage here. As a newbie, I didn't know what to expect, but felt like I was well cared for and was thoroughly satisfied by my experience. My MT Mary was excellent. I came in for a Swedish massage, but realizing that I'm not as sensitive as most people she ended up doing more of a deep tissue massage. She communicated well and made me feel comfortable from start to finish. (Like others mentioned, it's a bit hard to find. There was a sign in the parking lot, but no clear indication where to enter. I had my first massage here today (thanks to a google offer coupon). And I have to agree with everyone else about how it is difficult to find! Even with my gps, I still made a few u-turns. So be sure to add a few more minutes to your drive in case you get lost. I had my deep tissue massage with Catalina and she was wonderful!! She was super attentive to my needs and really worked out all the kinks and tension in my neck/shoulders. I totally appreciate her expertise when it came to evaluating my muscles and giving me recommendations. I was so relaxed (as relaxing as a deep tissue massage could be) and wished I selected a 90 minute appointment. Catalina had me stretch in specific positions to loosen my muscles and her neck rub almost put me to sleep. =) My only complaint about Body Techniques are the rooms. With a little TLC, the rooms could live up to their potential. As they stood, it reminded me of an office. The walls are also so thin that you could hear conversations outside and doors opening and closing. This took away form the relaxing experience of getting a massage. I will definitely be back for acupuncture and more massages. And Catalina is the massage therapist I will definitely be requesting! I left feeling relaxed, at peace, and ready for my social work national board exam the next day. I will definitely recommend Body Techniques to friends and may visit again before I head east. I've been looking for a place to get a good massage in Alameda for a while now (because I don't want to go too far, it's supposed to be relaxing and I don't want to drive a long way home after) and I haven't been able to make a decision. Because some places have conflicting reviews and that makes me even more uncertain. But I saw that Body Techniques had a deal on Groupon and since they have great reviews I thought, why not? I ended up buying one for myself, one for a friend, and one for my mom. Booking was super easy and I'm not sure who it was that helped me over the phone, probably Violet because she answered my emails later, but she was very nice. She was able to get all three of us in on the same day at the same time. She wasn't pushy or rude at all. I read a review about them being rude to Groupon and discount holders, which made me a little nervous, because if they're going to have deals they should honor them. BUT the booking was very pleasant! She took my info and voucher number and it was all settled. I had to email her after booking to specify the type of massage we would like to receive just to get it out of the way and she was very accommodating. We arrived about 10 minutes before our scheduled appointment. Mostly because it was a bit difficult to find the place. It's in a huge building; near the parking lot entrance there's a little sign that says "Body Techniques" and I missed it, so I had to go up and make a U-turn. Checking in was easy enough, we filled out a first time client information sheet and waited for our massage therapist. There's tea and massage chairs in the waiting room. Bathroom is out in the hall. A few minutes after our appointment time, our therapists arrived and took us through a door, into a hallway with rooms on both sides. The place was surprisingly spacious, you wouldn't have known from looking at the lobby area. My massage therapist was Jonathan, we went into a small dimly lit room...sounds sketchy, but really, it was a very calm environment with generic soothing music playing. It was nice and clean, and organized. Yes, I had to undress as it was a Swedish massage. I would have liked somewhere to hang my clothes, maybe there were hooks on the wall or something but I didn't see them so I used the chair. We spoke briefly about my needs/problem areas but clearly, I was just there to relax and enjoy myself. The massage was good, but also a bit painful. Lots of pulling, stretching, and rubbing...(and I was going to go for the deep tissue massage. Ha! Probably would hurt less if I wasn't so bony). One hour is definitely a short period of time when you're relaxing. I didn't fall asleep because of the occasional pain, especially when he bent my legs...which is expected, because I haven't stretched or worked out in a long time. But overall it was a good massage and a good kind of pain. I definitely feel more relax and the tension in my back and neck definitely improved. I would have also liked a head massage, but I guess that's not a part of the Swedish massage? Next time, I would probably book a longer time for the massage. Overall it's a nice place, and I would definitely come back. One of the important aspects in making this decision is the cleanliness of this place. Also, very nice people. read more

I never write reviews and this will be a first for me but I really enjoyed this place! It was my first time ever getting a massage but I felt pretty comfortable here. It is a bit hard finding the building and the receptionist area but not too hard if you just follow all the signs. Nick R took care of me for my massage. He knew exactly all of my aches, pains, and trouble spots. He definitely knew what he was doing. Plus, he was great to have a conversation with! My review is specific to the yoga classes and even more specifically, by the ones led by Sage. Also, I have only attended two classes so far but they were very consistent with each other so I feel certain they will continue to be high quality. Everyone has a different expectation from their yoga practice and a style/pace that they like, and, in my case, Sage's class was just "IT". What I liked about her Strengthening Yoga class: She starts slowly, ensuring you get into a really comfortable physical and mental space before beginning the practice, with stretching and just guiding you through setting an intention for your practice before hand. She used simple language to describe the poses (some practitioners seem to be afraid of the word, "butt") and was friendly and cheerful. She provided the right balance of corrections/assistance to just letting us be. I get nervous in classes where there is too much correction, but I feel neglected if there is none. The balance was just right for me (coming back to Yoga after a running injury and years of no yoga). In addition, the space is clean and tidy and peaceful. In savasana, I felt very blissed out after a challenging workout. I highly recommend her classes. read more
