I went to Chris for a long time. Unfortunately I cannot recommend him to others. As he cared more about showing me he is "human" than protecting my safety and honoring boundaries. Men know better and they still cross lines and then play dumb. I'm tired of male healers constantly taking advantage because of their access to my body. I know if I was in his shoes and he was my client there is no way I would cross those boundaries. He is aware of my history with SA. Despite that while he was working on me while I'm naked on his table he proceeds to tell me that another client is accusing him of SA. Complete violation of boundaries. I don't feel safe however I'm sharing the facts so that you may make an educated decision for yourself. For me this is a "no" not ever..... I was not there to hold space for him. I was paying him to hold space and treat me. I was hoping to rest. This was not restful. It was traumatizing as I said I have a history of SA. Being quiet and enabling poor behavior in our community is only keeping us small and oppressed. read more

I had my first appt with Chris today. I, of course, waiting until I was in pain to book an appt but I am feeling a lot better. His intake was probably the longest I've ever done, in a good way. He asked questions I'd never even thought of. I was hesitant to get accupuncture and bodywork both by a guy, but Chris made me feel super comfortable. You can tell her cares a lot about the community. It was like going to my cousins house to get some acupuncture and a massage and him reminding me it's ok to seek help ::snap snap:: I got the bodywork first, it was a newer method for me to try, but I believe it helped (if you're looking for someone to pet you while you fall asleep kind of massage-he aint it. He does WORK). During the body work he explained things and had a very familial vibe. When I got acupuncture and he left me in the room, I knocked out hella fast and woke myself up because I needed to take a deep breath and the song changed. Great experience. Rose and Chris are both amazing. Seriously amazing. I started seeing Chris for acupuncture in preparation for becoming pregnant a few years ago. I then saw him weekly during my first trimester and monthly after that. Chris is excellent at what he does. Very warm and knowledgeable. I highly recommend him. I started going to see Rose once I became pregnant. I wanted someone who was good, but who was also certified in prenatal massage and she came highly recommended (by Chris and his wife, who had seen Rose during her pregnancy). I saw her throughout my pregnancy - sometimes once a week towards the end - and I consider those sessions with Rose one of the significant contributing factors to my having had a very healthy pregnancy and delivery. My daughter is now almost 2 and I have continued to see Rose regularly. She is knowledgeable, thorough, professional, and OMG her massages are incredible. Every time I leave her office I think to myself, "I have got to find time to do this more often!" I was seen by Chris Pearson 2 weeks ago for an acupuncture and massage session. It was my first time trying acupuncture ever and I was a little nervous because I'm just not good with needles. Chris was very thorough, professional, and has a great personality and sense of humor. He asked a lot of questions and engaged me in such a way that I found it easy to relax. I'm a pretty active person and came in for a stiff shoulder and sore heel, most likely due to my workout routine. Chris was very patient and detailed in explaining how he would go about treating my problems. The massage was good, intense...but the acupuncture portion of my session was super-trippy! I was lying on my stomach and Chris placed needles in the back of my neck, down my spine, some in the hip area, and in my wrists and ankles. Most of the needles I didn't feel at all while only a few felt like the tiniest pinch upon puncture, which dissipated immediately. (lying very still and breathing evenly helps too) I experienced numerous strange sensations that totally blew me away...pleasant, tingly feelings running down my nerves and a spread of warmth that washed over certain parts of my lower back and hips. At some point, Chris left the room so that I could have some quiet rest time and I felt like my consciousness just floated away to some nameless place. So weird. However, my mind was totally blown when he removed the needles. I felt this euphoric sensation sweep across my body from head to toe. I left Be Well feeling buzzed in a fantastic way...honestly, I was worried that I'd be pulled over for a DUI, but Chris assured me that the police wouldn't find any substances in my system. Lol. Oh yeah, and pain in my shoulder and heel were greatly alleviated as well. Good times, good times. I look forward to returning when I can afford another session. (starving student alert!) The quality of care I received here at Be Well is totally worth the cost, however. A visit to the doctor's office can easily set you back as much and even more. Chris and Leon have created a beautiful healing center. From the moment you walk in, you will start to feel more relaxed. I swear. If you don't, then walk outside and walk back in with a deeper breath because there is definitely a palpable feeling of calm inside of the "Be Well" space. I have only seen Chris for treatment thus far so this review will primarily be singing his praises. I imagine Leon is equally wonderful and fantastic, too. I've had the pleasure of chatting with him several times and he always manages to make me smile which is definitely a key ingredient to feeling welcome and safe with your healthcare provider. Chris's Tui Na treatments are fabulous. His understanding of the human body from both the eastern and western medical perspectives is phenomenal. He'll work through the range of motion of all of your joints and will even do subtle, skillful manipulations as needed. He pays keen attention to alignment and deeply listens to what the body needs. I have literally driven straight to his office after a long flight across the country and left feeling refreshed and without an ounce of jet lag. My body was humming as opposed to screaming in stiffness from hours and hours of air travel. His musical tastes for the treatment session are awesome. And he'll happily tell you all about the songs and the bands that he plays. He even lets you bring in your own music if you want. Lately I have seen Chris more for tui na than for acupuncture because Chris is my go-to Tui Na practitioner in the East bay. I have seen him many times in the past for acupuncture with great success. He's incredibly thorough with his intake process and always brings spiritual insight and wisdom to the table. I recall seeing him once when my period was very, very late, and it seemed like nothing would help. He gave me a wonderful treatment and a visualization and meditation to do while relaxing with the needles. He sent me home with an herbal formula and the advice to take it with a tiny amount of wine or sake. Within three hours, my period arrived. Very impressive! If you are lucky, you may receive cupping treatments from him from time to time. Let me tell you, they feel amazing. Very cleansing and powerful experience. I had been looking for an acupuncturist, but really intimidated since there aren't many in my area and soooo many in other locations. I have a life long chronically painful fused ankle. He has tendentious in his arm from work. Neither of us can change our lifestyle much to affect the pain. Nor do we want to live off pain pills. Acupuncture seemed right up our ally. I went to Leon because of pain in my arm & wrist, I was worried I was going to end up with carpal tunnel. At my initial appointment Leon asked me to describe the pain. He explained to me what he thought was causing the issues & talked about how he intended to treat me. He also told me some things that I could do at home to continue therapy on my own - stretches, posture, & massaging my forearm. I've been shouting Chris Pearson's name from the rooftops ever since my 10 year old daughter saw him for the first time 2/7. Here's why: After multiple blood tests, x-rays and an MRI, not to mention the dozen or so visits with various docs, I made a desperate call to Be Well looking for anything to break a pain cycle my daughter had been dealing with for over a week from a knee injury she had back in early January. Chris spent a lot of time on the phone with me, getting the story, listening patiently and asking great questions. I told him of her anxiety regarding the needles and her fatigue over getting poked and prodded over and over and no one making her feel better. He assured me he would work with her to determine how her treatment would go, that he was a parent of 3 boys, one close to her age so was very comfortable talking with kids about tough stuff. We scheduled an appt. for later that day. And just like that, our journey on the pain path took a totally new direction. During our visit he talked to her about her ability to take control over her healing, how acupuncture could help and what he was doing with every new technique he used. She accepted 4 needles, and I watched her lay peacefully still for the first time in a week for over 20 minutes. She has not been on what was her regular cocktail of motrin, vicodin & valium since that day.
