Ive unfortunately had to change my rating of a Cats Place after being a loyal customer for 7+…read moreyears. I've seen a shift in the way the place is staffed - the new staff seemed to care less and less. I've ignored signs (being that I myself work at an animal hospital - the burnout is real) but the fact that clients pay you to take care of their fur babies is a service you commit to provide. My boarding experience earlier this year- I noted that medication for my sick asthmatic cat was not given by the staff due to the fact that he "looked stressed". It would have been okay since they take your phone number in case of an emergency and promise to call if anything comes up. Instead I took him home, coughing and wheezing after 4-5 days away to look at the inhaler count to see it hadn't moved. I wasn't notified at pickup and had to call them to find out why. The funny thing is all the times we have used them to board, he could come back sick and we always used to think it was a change of environment. When I complained Jessica (management) was really great and compassionate and apologized essentially for the mishap and informed me that they will have protocols in place to tell owners when things like this happen. That's great, right? Except that it shouldn't take a mistake to have that plan in place. That should be the FIRST thing you do. I ended up having him admitted in another facility for 3+ days in Emergency until he was back to normal. All in all, it's a clean facility with only cats which is a major plus. However, I don't think we will be returning anymore. For those of you who board your pets, make sure that meds are being done when they are supposed to be done whether it be marking the bottle or noting the counts.

After years as a customer and thousands of…read moredollars spent on our cats care they left us high and dry with no treatment plan and no medications for our extremely anemic cat in her most critical moments. To add insult to injury, they threatened to call the police on my fiancé after she called 4 times begging for the vet to call us back or put in a prescription before closing time. I would not recommend my worst enemies bring their cats here. All they care about is taking your money, of which they managed to extract thousands from us, but when it comes to the actual care of your animals they could not care less. After being told we were no longer "a fit" at this vet, we made the decision to bring our cat to the local emergency vet for a second opinion. Lo and behold, she was diagnosed with feline leukemia, which she was also likely suffering from the last THREE TIMES we brought her to A Cat's Place since last April for the same symptoms, where the vet insisted on several occasions that our cats diarrhea and low grade fever were due to stress. Unbelievable. Who licensed these people to practice medicine on animals?

I used just cats as a vet for 5 or 6 years with no issues. So I was quite comfortable in leaving my cats there to board last year when I went on a trip for 2 1/2 weeks. Well, when I went to pick them up, there was some confusion where their online hours didn't agree with their physical hours. so when I showed up, they tried to deny me access to my Cats. I finally got my cats out of there thankfully , yet when I went to the Boarding area, it was extremely cold and the cats were in a very sterile little cage with just one little rag on the floor. Turns out both my cats were sick. Sickened there at this vets boarding facility . They had to go to another vet to receive proper care. thankfully they both recovered and are fine . Really not my choice for how I would've wanted my cats treated so beware don't let your precious animals board here at "just Cats ' it is just a nightmare.

I boarded my cat here a few months ago and while boarding, my cat contracted a respiratory infection. When I took her in, I had to see a different doctor than usual, because Dr. Mary was booked up for over two weeks. Additionally, I was charged for this visit regardless of my cat contracting her infection while boarding. I am unable to clip my cat's nails by myself, and when I took her in last week, the price went up yet again to $27! This seems like a lot to pay for a simple and quick service that a vet tech can perform. I love Dr. Mary, but when she retires, I will be seeking out another veterinary practice.

Unfortunately, my dog was diagnosed with a heart murmur which I was unaware of, so they did not feel comfortable giving her the sedation she needed to take proper X-rays of a possible hip or lower back injury, which was a bit concerning. We did have a long wait, but to be fair, it was a rough night there and there were pets there with more significant injuries, so I appreciated their prioritizing them. They were able to administer pain meds though, which helped my dog feel much more comfortable overnight until I get her in to see her regular vet the following day. The bill was a bit high for just a preliminary evaluation, a basic cbc, and one shot of pain killer but it was worth having some peace of mind that my dog was seen and in far less discomfort overnight. I would definitely go back if I needed to, as the care she received was prudent and they were honest with me about their concerns about the risk of sedation for my particular dog.

Our dogs absolutely love Leah, and we enjoy chatting with her every chance we can! We have so much trust in Leah to take care of our pups. It was a challenge when our last walker dropped us, but Leah quickly stepped in and put our minds at ease, speaking to her experiences and quickly getting along with our dogs. We have 2 very high energy pups that need to be watched closely, otherwise they will inevitably get into trouble. We've had cases of our pups getting away, and multiple scheduling issues with our last walker (NOT Leah :) ), but we have not once had an issue since Leah has taken over. PawsBarkPlay was recommended to me by someone who had a particularly difficult rescue dog. Leah took time to try and get to know the dog before she agreed to walk him and she refused to charge the owner (who paid her anyway) for the first few visits because even though she spent more time than normal at the house she wasn't able to get the dog to warm up to her enough to walk him the first couple times. When I heard this story I thought two things: 1. There's no way this person was actually that nice. 2. I have to get her to walk/ sit my dog (Birdy) To be honest, everything seemed strangely too good to be true. Down to the business cards which were nicer that any I've seen (including my own) and the fact that she was licensed and insured?? Like I said, I didn't think the dog walking business was that serious but she's got it all. The card even says that she's pet first aid & cpr certified (I forgot to ask for proof but I believe her). Anyway, when she showed up I found out that she had recently moved here from the south which explained everything, she has not yet been corrupted by our New England brash way of thinking. She was the sweetest person and took to Birdy immediately. I should say that Birdy is very well behaved and not at all aggressive but she's cautious about new people. Birdy ran to her like she was a long lost relative, I was shocked and a little jealous. Leah told me that she just recently started this business but you would never know. Her prices seem middle of the road for what I've seen out there ($25/30 min walk) but her service and level of care is beyond what I expected and make her prices seem cheap. I was surprised to see that she didn't have any reviews but I have a feeling that her clients are trying to keep her a secret like I thought about doing. As a Yelper, though, I felt obligated to leave this review but she absolutely deserves it. Hopefully she'll keep it in mind when she gets busy!

Outstanding service and A+ communication…read more About a year and a half ago, we realized we were going to need a professional service to take care of our aging mixed breed, Honey (lab/ridgeback/mutt), when the neighbors' teen who'd been doing it was headed off to college. After meeting with a few service providers, felt a trust with Celeste that she'd take care of Honey like her own. While the price is more than the kid next door charges, it's been well worth it, as Honey actually gets exercise via walks, and attentive care. For instance, one time this summer, when Celeste found her semiconscious from a virus, she took her to our vet and called us from the road to let us know. That says a lot about the kind of proactive care they give. In addition, TLC and Celeste have been great, including special trips by the house when we've worked late or gone to dinner with friends, weekend trips/stayovers, you name it. In the end, a great decision that we're still happy with to this day.
