The ambiance gets this place 5 stars. It's super vibey and everything a vegan is waiting for when they go to a plant based restaurant. Our server was super kind as well. The reason I'm giving this place 4 stars is because of the price for taste. Listen $20 nachos need to make me want to lick my fingers. Dorados tacos- as a Latina I thought it was rolled taquitos but they were really hard to eat and overly dressed with some type of aioli that had this super heavy mayo taste on it. The elote was drenched in it to so felt they were compensating with sauce for lack of taste. I would return to try other items that wasn't the macican spot. Maybe Italian next time. My doctor told me I needed to go plant based or pescatarian because of my cholesterol.( I still refuse to believe the numbers, as they were always great.Lies! I say. LIES!!!) So after walking across the pedestrian bridge and the neighborhood nearby, I treated myself to an early dinner at Plant City. It's a two floor establishment with three restaurants and a bakery. Oh who knew this existed?! Pleasantly surprised by this place in Plant City. Nice ambiance, service was decent and there were so many options for our vegetarian selves! I liked how they catered to many different cuisines and provided enough share plates so we could try everything. Appreciated the flavors in each of the dishes we tried. I was so excited about vegan nachos. They are hard to come by. But I was so disappointed, the queso was sweet and the chips tasted funny, I am assuming it's the oil they use. In addition, it had a burnt flavor to it. Guac was bland, but I did like the pico de gallo. We were the only ones dining upstairs mid afternoon, but our wait staff was no where to be found. The food at Besina was 10/10 delicious! And it's vegan?! Plant City has several great plant-based options. For sit down, we got to pick between 3 or 4 options and decided on Besina. It had its own specific seating area outside. The waterfront views and downtown vibes in their outdoor seating area are fantastic. My husband and I ordered the Tlayuda to share. It was enough food for the two of us. Looking around at the other tables as well, the portions here are huge! The Tlayuda was a pizza with a crispy tortilla for a base. It had a saucy jackfruit as the main topping. It was flavorful and juicy. The avocados and cashew crema were also very tasty toppings. This dish was such a fun concept, and a hit for both of us. The churros were good, but the chocolate sauce that came with it was the real star! I haven't had a vegan version of this before so I was super excited for it. It did not disappoint. The tiramisu donut however was not what I was hoping for. It was a cream filled donut. It didn't taste like a tiramisu to me so I wasn't a fan. It was decent for a donut though! The churro latte was fantastic. I thought it was overpriced at first, but the drink was HUGE! I got it with pistachio milk, which I've never had before, and I highly recommend it. I really wish I lived closer to here because this place would be my go-to so quick! Highly recommend visiting Plant City and Besina. Especially if you're vegetarian or vegan but even if you're not! Kick ass! This was yummy and amazing. The vibe of the restaurant is modern yet very comfortable. Not pretentious at all. We had the Tyaluda app (a yummy Mexican style pizza but on a tortilla). This was both of our favorite item. Perfect and was easily a meal on its own. My BF had the chili rellonos for his main - 2 stuffed poblanos. It was delicious and a very generous portion. I had the salad and it was fresh, yummy and HUGE. We took half of everything home for dinner. Amazing value. He had a classic margarita and I had the cardamargarita. Both were very good but his was awesome. A perfect margarita. We did Churros for dessert. They came with a chocolate dipping sauce and a vanilla. These were very yummy but the center was a little moist still. Yummy all the same but not exactly like the classic churro. Overall we LOVED it here and will definitely be back. Service was great. Probably one of the best vegetarian restaurants I've been to! It's a little on the pricier side but the ingredients feel high quality and varied. I'm a huge Matthew Kenney fan; have eaten at at least a dozen or so of his restaurants or collaborations so I was really excited to try, but the food fell really flat. I'm wondering if they had an off day or something because I have never had a bad experience at a Matthew Kenney restaurant. The service was great. Our server was awesome, though I do think she should have called the bartender out for making a 60% full martini. I used to be a bartender and I never would have served someone just over half a drink, especially when they're paying ~$20 for it. If I didn't put enough in the shaker, I would do the right thing and make it again. The nachos were excellent. This and the interior design are why I'm giving 3 stars (and because it pains me to diss a vegan business). The chorizo tacos were a bit soggy and tasted overwhelmingly like black licorice. I couldn't have more than two bites. I took the rest home where more people tried it, agreed, and they ended up in the trash. I have sent food back 1-2 times in my life and wish I did this time. The burrito was just okay, a little bland. The dorados tacos were also just okay. I had planned on ordering the ice cream but chose not to after trying the food. I still got to try it when our table ordered an affogato and I was glad I didn't order it--the ice cream tasted like the lowest quality vegan vanilla ice cream you can get at any supermarket. After having visited Plant City this past summer and enjoying the food immensely we decided to try Besina, one of the restaurants inside Plant City, when our family came to visit over this past weekend. Several members of our party are vegetarian so we are quite familiar with that particular cuisine. Our server, Noah, quickly came to our table to ask what we'd like to drink. It then took about 20 minutes for them to be served. We didn't mind too much as it gave us time to catch up on life. When they were served Noah was extremely apologetic. No problem, we said. Then we ordered an appetizer: nachos. How can you screw up nachos? Pretty easily, apparently. Chips were rock hard, I could count the number of beans, and we had to order an extra serving of guacamole. Noah came by again 15 minutes later to ask if anyone had brought the extra guac. Nope. Again, apologies. No sweat, Noah! When that extra guac came out it looked like it was served in one of those paper cups you put your ketchup in at a fast food joint. We ordered our entrees and those took quite some time as well. I got the burrito, it was cold. Doesn't come with anything else. $19 for a cold burrito and no sides? My partner got the chorizo tacos. Alas, no sides. $18 tacos the size of sand dollars. After none of us finishing our meals poor Noah came over and asked if everything was okay. I said that we were good but my family outed my cold burrito. Poor poor Noah. We left after paying the $200 bill and once outside we were the ones constantly apologizing to our family. This was our first time at Plant city and we decided to try Besina since we love Mexican, but are not vegan. We had a wonderful experience with Michael as our server. The food was fantastic and service with Michael was Phenomenal. Kim you should be very happy that Michael has a wonderful personality and great service.
