In the hair world, you get what you pay for, and Be Scene is one of the leaders in hair coloring. Donna spent 8 hours lifting my hair from black (with some box dye remnants) to a light blonde that could take a silvery, lavender purple. My hair isn't nearly as fried as I thought it would be after such a severe bleaching, and I couldn't be happier with the results. Would def recommend!

It took me forever to find the stylist I needed for the cut and color I wanted - BeScene was the move and Linda was the color expert and Kanh came through with the cut! I showed Linda ONE picture and she turned my dark black hair into this amazing, vibrant magenta without leaving my hair feeling dry or damaged. She had my ass the chair for a whole day - Sorry Linda - but it was worth it. I don't mind taking risks with my hair as far as cut and color. Never found a stylist that could roll with want I wanted, until now. Linda is - 10 outta 10.

I just got my 3rd service done by Ken. When I sit in his chair I know I am in good hands and he truly understands the assignment. Each time I've come to him I haven't had an exact look I was going for and just gave him some vibes and reference photos that show things I like...and still each time he delivers better than I could ever explain for myself! I've sent two friends to him since working with him as a stylist and he has also delivered above and beyond their expectations. Ken is creative, skillful, and an incredibly hard worker. Thank you so much for taking care of me Ken!

This place was disappointing. I made an appointment with April but it was cancelled by the salon so I opted to reschedule with Linh (the owner) thinking you can't go wrong with the owner/master stylist- my appointment was made a month in advance and cancelled last minute because his baby mama was giving birth or something -why are you telling me this receptionist? very professional. I finally came in a few weeks later and as all the reviews mentioned, you wait at least 45-60 minutes before you're actually seated in the salon chair so that was fun but it'll all be worth it they said. I showed Linh pictures of what I wanted from HIS Instagram page and he asked if I had died my hair recently and I told him I had dark brown dye from my wedding over a year ago. He shrugged but said he'd have to bleach my entire head once maybe twice to get the result. I wanted an ash blonde charcoal balayage look he had done to another girl recently. He made it seem like I was asking for the impossible. Why post photos of all these crazy hair colors you do if you can't accomplish it? Maybe put a disclaimer: if you're hair is black, thick, curly, more than 10 strands, this hair style won't work for you. After bleaching/burning my scalp twice, my hair was 1)fried and 2) nowhere near the color i asked for and not to mention sitting in a salon chair for 8 hours is not normal especially if the end result is horrifying. I ended up leaving the salon unhappy and Linh was nowhere to be found after my blowdry. He knew my hair was a disaster and didn't even come out to see it. A week later, the lady that blowdries my hair weekly saw my hair and was shocked. I wasn't able to see inside my hair like she did and she took photos of uneven bleach and color and that was the last straw. I sent the photos to Linh and for $500, this was an amateur job. $10 Boxed dye would've been a better job. I went back to bescence after Linh told me to return so he can "fix it"... I couldn't handle more bleach so I told him to just even and tone out the random colors he put before. He kept blaming my thick middle eastern hair which was annoying - if you can't handle different types of hair, you shouldn't own a salon.

This review is for Eunice Kim, who crafted my wedding day hair color literally DAYS before my wedding. I've never gone to her before, but needed a new stylist ASAP because I had a scheduling conflict with my usual stylist. She simply delivered, and I received so many compliments about my hair. She was attentive and extremely professional, all under the pressure of doing a new client's wedding hair. I asked for a natural, warm brown foilyage and wanted a base bump. I initially went too blonde, but she immediately fixed the issue by retoning me to the shade I wanted. She was very accommodating, and I highly recommend her for anyone wanting to go blonde but nervous about where to start. I have no doubt that she'll listen to what you're really asking for. Thank you Eunice for making my big day extra special!

I booked my appointment online and it just so happened that Linh, the owner, was available on the day that I was looking to come in. The receptionist left me a voicemail the morning of the appointment to tell me that Linh does not see new clients if it's their first time at the salon. I wasn't able to check my phone at work and rushed out of work so that I could make it in time for my appointment. They were going to cancel my appointment but luckily another stylist was available. I have black hair and wanted to go blonde so they asked me to send a picture first to make sure their hair colorist could do it. She agreed and so I rushed from Baltimore to keep my appointment time. The salon itself was trendy and spacious but I didn't feel very welcomed. The stylists there seem like they're all friends and talk to each other while clients are in the chair without acknowledging the client. I saw Kiani for my color. She was friendly and everything but I was disappointed at first when my hair turned out blue. I was exhausted after six hours in the chair so I just wanted to leave after the blow dry. She told me that she overtoned it and that it will wash out nicely to blonde. It eventually did but it took about two weeks. I returned to see Kiani for root touch up and wasn't loving the color at first but, again, it washed out nicely in a few weeks. Kiani is a talented colorist but I probably wouldn't return to the salon since it's far, pricey, and not the best customer service, with the exception of Kiani. Make sure to chunk out a couple of hours for your appointment, eat and go to the bathroom before your appointment because I was there for 6 hours (a little warning would have helped, lol)

What can I say about this place.... I have gone to different salons over the years and BeScene Studios is by far the best!! The staff is always welcoming, kind, and hilarious. Ive been to salons before and felt uncomfortable because of lack of conversation or plain boredom...but here I feel like myself and it is always an entertaining visit lol....Now, let me tell you about Shayna...she has saved my hair more times than I can count!! Let me tell you, she is a BEAST at cuts and color!! I've gone to her with the world's worst ombre and she brought me back to life!! I am forever grateful for her magical hands, professionalism, and badassness.

Reina is the queen of short hair, color, and bangs. She did an amazing shag look on me! I got bangs for the first time since I was a little girl. She was so uplifting and made me feel confident the entire time. I live an hour away but I will most certainly be back to get my hair done. There is just no salon like Be Scene Studios. All of her coworkers kept coming up to us and complimenting her work and making me feel beautiful. As soon as I left the studio, everyone at work was complimenting me on my new hair (: Reina was very confident in her work and she knew what did and did not work on my face. Would definitely recommend Reina to anyone looking for a hairstylist. She is so kind and genuine and someone I will continue to trust with my hair.

Had a great experience front start to finish. Lexy Byun did my hair and I'm so glad she did!!! Lexy was both friendly and professional. She answered any questions I had with detail. Without an ounce of doubt, Lexy took really good care of my hair. Prior to the appointment she was very communicative via text - she originally has Wednesday's off but the online appointment booker showed her as available. Even so, Lexy was still okay with me coming on Wednesday (note: she's normally available on Fridays and Thursdays). With the appt being on her day off she still took her time to ensure quality and that I was happy during the process and with the result. Her great work ethic and friendly personality got me to trust her with my hair. Will be booking my future hair appts with Lexy for sure!

Shaine did an amazing job! I came in with mostly virgin dark hair and after about 5-6 hours or so I left with this amazing multicolored fun "peekaboo" style! Shaine did an awesome job working with me on deciding the final outcome and explaining the pros and cons of different shades of colors. While she gave her own ideas, I really felt like she took the time to completely understand what I wanted which is super important. She implemented a lot of different techniques to achieve this look. She's super skilled while also being very personable! She also gave me aftercare recommendations and helped me understand what to expect. So I left feeling really good. I am super happy with how everything turned out! The whole thing was $285 before tip. And it was 100% worth it!

Since 2015, I have been going to the one and only Victoria E. for coloring my hair. It was fate that my sister and I met Victoria because not only is she our go-to hair colorist, but she is one of our closest friends! Victoria is everything that you are looking for when it comes to finding the perfect hair professional. She is talkative, super nice, hardworking, and laidback. She's also great at giving you the color you want and providing the least amount of damage to your hair. My sister and I always have a blast when we go to Victoria! Recently, Victoria has been on temporary leave from Be Scene, so she recommended us to go to April. This was my first time letting someone else besides Victoria color my hair, so I was a little nervous but also very excited! I like to see how each hair colorist performs their magic in their own way. And guess what? Victoria was absolutely right about April! She is also very nice, and she is very dedicated and passionate at what she does because it truly shows in her work. In addition, the hair assistants and other staff members at Bescene are friendly and welcoming as well. You guys should definitely check out either Victoria (once she comes back) or April if you want your hair to look easy, breezy, and beautiful!

Got a recommendation to go here and since I was going to be in the area, I thought, what the heck, why not. It was a nice experience but this was two years ago. I just needed my hair color corrected. Initially I wanted to do something out of the norm hair look as is their specialty. My stylist Anh and I decided to correct my color first then come back later to do lighten my whole head like I wanted. But after the correction, I was already happen and just didn't get around to coming back. I also decided that I'm done coloring my hair. At least for now and for a long time. Now that our go-to hair colorist, Victoria E., is on maternity leave, we went with the recommendation of April. My sister and I are so happy choosing April for our hair coloring. We both were coming in with dark roots and light hair (our previous pink and purple colors faded into a light blonde-brownish color). We both wanted a change of scene *pun intended* and wanted to go darker with a healthy hair method. Finally, no bleach was used!!!! Anyways, April was sweet, bubbly, and listened to our color detail. She offered her personal opinion and a step-by-step plan of how our hair was gonna look, the fading process, and how to manage/treat the color of our hair. She was so meticulous to the point where she mentioned to me about silk/satin pillow cases and what hair products she likes to use! Allison ended up with a dark brown-hint of purple hair, whereas I ended up with a beautiful ashy metallic brown hair with different lowlights? & highlights?. (? I can't remember exactly what she did) Check out my yelp images, but the pictures don't do the beautiful coloring justice. THANK YOU APRIL :)

I have gone to see Lexy a few times and she always gives me exactly what I want and more. She goes above and beyond for me every time. I'm just really disappointed with the message I received after telling them I had breakage when I left the salon. Literally, the breakage happened during my process and I had a feeling because the assistant was being rough to my hair when removing the foils and then, suddenly was being super gentle. And the breakage happened right in the front. Not to mention, Linh did my hair...the owner. Every time I put my hair down, I would have to try to hide the breakage and it's so bad that I have to tie my hair up :(. My hair looks so thin now and it's just sooo bad. See pictures. read more

So overpriced & overrated. Spent $450 for an uneven bad dye job earlier before May. Attached photo is my hair immediately afterwards the dye and I knew something was wrong (I asked for a caramel balayage). Instagram photos do no reflect their actual skill. Sadly I will not come back here again for coloring. read more

I was referred to this salon by many girls who got great results from here and it's pretty far from where I lived but totally worth it. They really specialize in balayage and unicorn hair and participates in many hair competitions. The owner Linh is highly regarded in the hair industry. So it's safe to say that you're in the right place! Make sure you plan enough time to be in the salon and use Olaplex on your hair beforehand. I booked my appointment with Kiani for a rose gold balayage. I am very happy and satisfied with the result and it took about 4hrs for my black hair. She is very informative and exactly know what she was doing. The salon is definitely expensive than your average color place but totally worth it! read more

I booked an appointment with Inhye for a haircut. She is amazing! She took the time to ask questions about how I style my hair and the different options on haircut styles. My other stylist just used to cut it and styled it himself not knowing how to style it once I got home. Inhye took the time to show me the different products and tools to make my hair look like the beachy waves that I couldn't mimic at home. It looks so much healthier and literally took 5 years off my face! She is a gem! Will be definitely going back to her again! read more

The WORST experience of my life. This salon is definitely overrated. In the process of going blond they burned most of my hair off and whatever is left is orange. My hair is uneven all around and literally the color changes every single wash. The stylist Anna told me she was going to use a light bleach on my hair as my hair did have some damage to begin with great I thought she was a professional and knew what she was doing. I was so wrong. My hair was literally gummy when she washed the bleach off. She burned my hair to a unimaginable point. She then told me to cover the orange color that my hair is she can make me Brown... I hate brown so I asked her if she can give me anything else and she comes back with a pic of a beautiful .... safe to say I did not leave the salon that color. I was A grey blue!!!!! After one wash my hair turned orange and now each wash I get a new orange. The funniest thing is that she didn't even color my roots. I paid $560 for them to literally burn my hair, make me orange and give me crooked hair cut. When I called the salon they said there is nothing they can do as I signed a waiver upon arrival. They said it's my own fault bc my hair was damaged. If she thought my hair was so damaged as a professional shouldn't she have told me that she can't work on my hair and to wait. That is a BIG LIE. My hair really was not that damaged. Yes it had some damage but maybe 35% at most. They offered me a free haircut to fix the crooked mess and also to try do my roots as whatever she put on them didn't work bc I was still grey. Really save your money you'll probably a better experience at a Supercuts. read more

BE AWARE - I should've posted my review months ago when the service took place, but decided not to until now. Why would Shayna tell me that the only form of payment was to Venmo her directly? I should've questioned why I couldn't pay with a credit card, but I didn't because I wanted to trusted her with my hair and the cost of her services which was EXORBITANT! Great environment near where I work, and Brendan is excellent. He took his time to give me a style and cut that I love. with answers to my questions on how to maintain it, but between the limited parking, which can't be helped, and my online reservation not showing up when I arrived, I almost took one star off. Sure, they found me a stylist, and I'll ask for him again when I return, and I'm glad for Be Scene that they're busy, but I almost couldn't get a my hair cut last evening, and that's a problem that I hope they fix. I got an apology from the salon informing me that the online appointment that I made was for today and not, as I intended, yesterday, so whether that was my mistake or their system's, I'm glad that I didn't take off that star. read more

Ya'll I got my hair done by Eunice Kim and she did such an amazing job!!! Before I got this done, I went to LA to do my hair at ssoonie salon and they didn't give me quite what I wanted. Instead of getting an ash gray, I received a very yellow blonde and was really disappointed. So that's when I hit up Eunice, and she transformed me in such a beautiful way that went far beyond my expectations!! She was kind, sociable, and thoughtful and that in itself made the experience so much more worthwhile. Literally in LOVE with my new hair, and won't be switching hair stylists or salons anytime soon! So in love with this salon! Was looking for a place to get a cut and color with a same-day appointment and got so lucky to be booked with the dynamic duo Kiani and Brendan. Kiani is a true color artist - she hand-paints every strand. Brendan cut my hair exactly how I hoped for with me just saying "volume and layers". Both are wonderfully sweet and make you feel like a superstar. Great coffee and atmosphere to boot. read more

I went to be scene studios after hearing about how skillfull all their hair stylists were, and upon seeing all their amazing Instagram posts. I found @hairbylexybyun on instagram through a friend who got her hair done by her and LOVED it. So I wasted no time in booking an appointment with Lexy. Ive always wanted a very particular peach rose gold, and went to some different salons; but they all failed to do so. However, Lexy got it just the way I wanted it! I was also very impressed with how much care she put into making sure I was happy with both my cut&color. She even explained how to take care of my hair and recommended some great products. I've been to this salon 3 times. The first time, Issa completely transformed my hair with a beautiful balayage and i LOVED it! However, the second time i asked to do the same thing as the first with just more blonde and i left the salon a dark brunette with small pieces of blonde, NOT what i asked for. I was unhappy and asked if I could get it fixed and she kindly said yes but the last visit (which was for the fix) was horrendous. Issa was rude to me and my mother when i was just trying to explain what i wanted and out of what seemed to be spite she made me a full in blonde when all i wanted was a balayage like my first visit with a little more blonde. I left the salon with a disgusting yellow blonde and my curls/waves were completely fried. I was devastated and got in the shower as soon as i got home in attempts to wash some of this color out. bottom line DONT waste your money on Issa, it is so overpriced for the job done, she has a terrible attitude, and can't listen to her client. read more

A lot of my female friends have gotten coloring done at Bescene and I've always thought it looked cool. I recommended this place to my girlfriend so she could sport a new look. We made an appointment with Andrea. Andrea's customer service was exceptional. On top of making my girlfriend's hair look shiny and silvery, she educated us on how the process works, hair care, and costs. The salon itself is a vibrant place staffed with attractive and fashionable individuals. We were there for 5+ hours. read more

i came in with extremely out grown roots and despised the way my hair looked. Donna freaking TRANSFORMED my hair into the shade of blonde i wanted and she worked extremely fast and efficient. This review is for my stylist who happens to work at Be Scene, not Be Scene in general (much I dislike about the studio itself). April Maupin (Apes) is not only a phenomenal master colorist, but an amazing human being! She takes time to hear what it is you want, gives realistic suggestions and genuinely cares about you having your desired outcome. She is transparent about every step and explains costs and options before you get surprised at the register. Her work ethic is unheard of in this industry. When I went to the studio for an initial consult with another stylist, she came to April for advice. I liked April as soon as I saw her level of knowledge and when I approached her later about wanting her to do my hair, she respectfully declined because she didn't want to take a potential client away from her coworker. I went to the coworker and she was sloppy and didn't do what I wanted at all. Months later, I came back to April who tried to fix as much as she could without breaking the bank yet again. I've been with her since and she never fails this type A, sensitive headed client. She is incredibly smart (outside hair matters), professional and a diamond in the rough. read more

Everyone needs to go see Eunice at this salon! Her instagram is @eunicekimhair. You won't regret it. She specializes in balayages and blondes but she is so versatile in her work! She also cuts which I feel like hair stylists these days are one way or another. If you're looking for a "lived in" LA vibe hairstyle, Eunice is seriously your girl! I couldn't recommend Eunice enough!! After many attempts of getting my desired balayage, I finally went to Eunice and the results exceeded my expectations! Eunice did a stunning job on my balayage and hair cut! She left my hair feeling healthy and silky. She made me feel super comfortable and walked me through the whole process. This place is overpriced with under qualified technicians. I haven't dyed my hair in over ten years and when I decided To do so I did some research. This had high reviews, so I took my chances. My hair stylist was Yokki. Not only does she not know what she is doing because she over processed my hair, damaging to the point of no recovery, but she will lie to your face about her process when dealing with a style she has no clue to, and leaves you sitting at the waiting chair saying she is too overwhelmed to take care of you, after you've scheduled an appointment in advance. Each visits I'd complain about the health of my hair and she would always recommend to cut it. I never visited any other salon and followed their directions and barely styled it. I asked to speak to the owner to complaint and was referred to a manager. Well she was a waste of time and made promises that she never kept and denied afterwards. She promised hair treatments at no cost and later wanted to charge. The owner never cared about how his business is being represented because he never responded to my request to speak to him. Long story short, if you want to overpay for someone to damage your hair then By all means go here. If not STAY AWAY FROM HERE AND SAVE YOUR MONEY. The reviews are fake!!!! read more

This salon is not for those seeking "natural" looking colors. The atmosphere is like getting your hair done at a strip club. In the summer time, girls who work there (almost everyone) wore a sports bra, tiny booty shorts and an apron and their music was so loud you could barely hear anything. Let's just say that this is not what you would've expected from a high end salon nor a traditional salon. Granted the location was a former car garage and they threw some thrift store furnitures in. When I first came here, I booked an appointment with Mayaan. She did an amazing job at coloring and styling. After a few weeks, I noticed that my hair faded tremendously and that my hair kept getting weaker and weaker the more I came here. They claimed to use B3 aka Brazilian bond builder bs. Which I highly doubt that they do use it because after every session my hair just kept getting weaker. Additionally, don't be fooled by their fake followers on Instagram. No one would post a bad hair job. Also, notice that every single picture, the colors look very ashy and unnatural liked. If that's your thing, so be it. It clearly wasn't mine and I've mentioned many times that I do not wish to have those gray looking tone when I know that they use wella and wella gives the most beautiful colors. They have have secretly mixed something in it to make the hair color so ashy looking like a dirty paint brush mixing water. After multiple times of attending and being tired of paying 300+ for a simple foil and tone, I decided to leave and find another stylist. read more

Oh man my hair has not been cute during quarantine. The last time I actually highlighted my hair was when I had it short up to my chin, so that was over a year ago. My hair grows super fast so within a year it is back to long and passed my shoulders. I toned it a few times to darker and darker to try to blend the highlights with my roots but that was also circa end of 2019. Fast forward to three weeks ago, I came in with basically two colors on my head. I had about 10 inches of natural roots and then everything else was old bleached hair with orangey washed out toner over it. It was BAD. I couldn't get an appointment with Linh so I saw Ken instead. All I have to say is sorry Linh, you lost a client, lol. Ken is a color magician! Truly talented and the nicest too. He gave me the perfect mushroom chocolate brown while adding dimension to my hair. My hair has never looked this good! It has dimension and compliments my skin tone perfectly. I actually look younger if that's even possible. Seriously he is so talented that I am truly in love with my color and cut. I will never let anyone else touch my hair. read more

The studio itself is gorgeous, very industrial, and super edgy. There's great lighting, the work stations are very cute, and they have good music playing. Oh! And free wifi which is awesome. APRIL is the only one I've ever allowed to color my hair. She's very knowledgeable and will take the time to explain everything from prep to after-care, and won't do anything she feels would demolish your hair. I never know what to do with my hair so most of the time I will allow her to choose for me and just talk me through what it'd look like. If I don't like it she will ask further questions to see the look I'm going for. This is perfect for my indecisiveness. Be Scene is a great salon especially if you are in the market for a neutral/basic and/or wild and crazy color. I have been coming to this salon since about 2014 and I have seen Lihn go from having a chair in someone else salon to having his own salon (this location). My only suggestion is that they do a little more to conditioning to the hair. I had an all over bleach and tone but only like 3 mins of conditioner. My hair color looked amazing but my hair was really really dry afterwards and as much as I paid a conditioning or protein treatment should've been included in the price. I wish I had a before and after picture of my hair. When I went in my hair was literally 5 different colors including my grays . When I left, my hair was just the color I wanted it. April does an amazing job with thick and curly hair and Lihn is just as good with that hair type as well. read more

The cons: Again, 5 hrs... I very much appreciate them not wanting to fry my hair, but maybe a little speeding up could have been done? Also, while the top layer permed well, the bottom didn't really take - see photos. Also, just FYI, but there is no validated parking. It wasn't terrible to pay the garage, but just something to be aware of. Overall I really appreciated all the time and patience they took, to specially alter treatments for different parts of my hair, and try to not damage it. If there is some kind of middle ground to be able to do the perm and have it take completely in all the hair, and with less time, that would be ideal.

I've been a long time customer at Be Scene and anytime I want to get any kind of color or crazy thing done, I usually go to Linh, but this time I decided to try Anh Le. To be honest, it was my first time with her and I just saw her profile online...but went for it! Glad I did. I asked for a dark grey, ashy, silver look and she took her time with me. It took 8 hours and she was patient, understanding and answered all my questions / worries as I had to bleach my entire head first. When all was said and done, it was 80% what I wanted...BUT I came back (for free!) until she got it to exactly what I wanted. I'm really happy that she worked with me, and was super chill when I told her I needed to come back and retouch the top. I've trusted Megan M. with my curls & color for years now (it's been that long that I cannot even remember how many years it's been!) that I followed her when she move to Be Scene. She is Ouidad certified and has honed her curly hair skill & specialty cut over the years. She spends time discussing your hair concerns and giving you a great cut (no triangle cut here!). Regarding color, she does amazing work getting that color just right, I'm constantly getting complements even 6 weeks after a visit with her. She is a creative and knowledgeable stylist. BAD customer service and professionalism from BK! Been coming here for years even at their old location. But it's been a downhill trend since they've moved to this new location. Calling out a customer "fool" and "wtf" had already got on my (anyone's) nerves when trying to make an appointment directly with BK. And when I was exactly 7 mins late, I was ask "where the hell you've been man?" as soon as I walked in, and was told next time if I'm late again, he can't cut my hair. I'm a customer service business owner, and I and my employees would never talk to a customer like that. Period. Even the receptionist apologized when I was on my way out. This place is incredible and even better is April (@hairbyapes). She is extremely talented and always make sure YOU are happy in the end. She cares about the health of your hair and its current state. She is the BEST! Also the vibe of this place is totally cool, super edgy.
