Maayan is fantastic! She is honestly one of the calmest hair stylists I've ever met. She listens to your needs and feedback without judgment. I started seeing Maayan for my hair extensions about a year or so ago. I wanted to find someone who used Bellami hair as that is what I was familiar with and liked. While on the expensive side, it is great quality. I first started doing tape in's with her as that is what I had been previously doing. We talked a few times about doing sew in wefts but she never pressured me. I eventually tried it and loved it. It's definitely less maintenance and less mess! I've not had to color my hair as the extensions luckily match but if I were to color or highlight my hair, I would definitely trust Maayan. She's also particular and does great work. Of course I wanted to go to what I thought was "the best". They have a huge following , lots of likes on their social media pictures, charge up the ying-yang ....so this is going to be my place. This must mean they do amazing hair right? Oh it's amazing alright. The pictures at least. My hair is a dirty blonde and doesn't take a lot to lift the color. My hair is also very fine and pretty much the norm white girl hair. After going here 4 x my hair is ruined. I drove 2.5 hours ONE WAY because I love my freaking hair and it's worth it for great hair. The salon vibe is cool & hip, the stylists nice and seemed to act like they knew what they were doing. I wanted hair like I was used to back in California and this looked like the place. My hair color of choice is usually pink/purple spectrums. I only use salon products and watch and ask questions when getting my hair done. I was told even though my hair was pink and I still wanted pink I needed a " blank canvas ". What a load of Bullshittttttt. Unless you have Asian hair or hair that can really stand up to this , should have never been done every time on me! This is either an upcharge or just a load of sh$t. My hair started seeing signs of major breakage. I wasn't even using hot tools on my hair ! I use Olaplex N 3 treatments, only the best products on my hair.......WTH is going on!? My hair had to be cut every time because of the breakage and that should've been a sign. The last time I went in I specifically asked to not be bleached out and was told this is the way we do it ,your hair is fine don't worry. Traveled back to CA and my regular stylist was like WTF happened to your hair? She was scared to even do my hair because of the damage. We put some extensions in to try and help but until my hair has all the dead cut off it wasn't going to look right. Fast forward to now. My hair is above my shoulders and shorter than I have ever had it in my life. I'm so pissed. I want to stand in front of your salon and freaking warn people. Why the hell would you teach your stylists to use the same method on everyone's hair no matter ethnicity and type of hair???? ***Come here if you want to pay them to ruin your hair. It only cost me about $1500 dollars , tons of miles on my Jeep to get that perfect Instagram picture. Maybe the owner should stop traveling and pay attention to their salon because this is BS. It took me forever to find the stylist I needed for the cut and color I wanted - BeScene was the move and Linda was the color expert and Kanh came through with the cut! I showed Linda ONE picture and she turned my dark black hair into this amazing, vibrant magenta without leaving my hair feeling dry or damaged. She had my ass the chair for a whole day - Sorry Linda - but it was worth it. I don't mind taking risks with my hair as far as cut and color. This place was disappointing. I made an appointment with April but it was cancelled by the salon so I opted to reschedule with Linh (the owner) thinking you can't go wrong with the owner/master stylist- my appointment was made a month in advance and cancelled last minute because his baby mama was giving birth or something -why are you telling me this receptionist? very professional. I finally came in a few weeks later and as all the reviews mentioned, you wait at least 45-60 minutes before you're actually seated in the salon chair so that was fun but it'll all be worth it they said. I showed Linh pictures of what I wanted from HIS Instagram page and he asked if I had died my hair recently and I told him I had dark brown dye from my wedding over a year ago. He shrugged but said he'd have to bleach my entire head once maybe twice to get the result. I wanted an ash blonde charcoal balayage look he had done to another girl recently. He made it seem like I was asking for the impossible. Why post photos of all these crazy hair colors you do if you can't accomplish it? Maybe put a disclaimer: if you're hair is black, thick, curly, more than 10 strands, this hair style won't work for you. After bleaching/burning my scalp twice, my hair was 1)fried and 2) nowhere near the color i asked for and not to mention sitting in a salon chair for 8 hours is not normal especially if the end result is horrifying. I ended up leaving the salon unhappy and Linh was nowhere to be found after my blowdry. He knew my hair was a disaster and didn't even come out to see it. A week later, the lady that blowdries my hair weekly saw my hair and was shocked. I wasn't able to see inside my hair like she did and she took photos of uneven bleach and color and that was the last straw. I sent the photos to Linh and for $500, this was an amateur job. $10 Boxed dye would've been a better job. I went back to bescence after Linh told me to return so he can "fix it"... I couldn't handle more bleach so I told him to just even and tone out the random colors he put before. He kept blaming my thick middle eastern hair which was annoying - if you can't handle different types of hair, you shouldn't own a salon. read more

Well.... was excited to finally get a trim. My appointment was at 9am so I got there at 8:50am. Called the receptionist and she told me that Eunice is running a few minutes later and to come in and sit at her chair. I went in and the receptionist was nice. They had extra surgical masks which was easier to breath in than my N95. At 9:15, the receptionist noticed me that Eunice would be another 21 minutes and I can leave or stay. I had to them leave around 9:30am since I had to be on a call at 10am and I wasn't sure how long it would be since Eunice gets there. As I was leaving another woman was sitting in her car and asked me who I was waiting for and I told her Eunice and she said she had been waiting for Ana and her appointment was at 8:30am. I guess they don't care about keeping their appointment but if you are late more than 15min they will charge you and cancel your appointment. I been there few other time for cuts. I've never gone to her before, but needed a new stylist ASAP because I had a scheduling conflict with my usual stylist. She simply delivered, and I received so many compliments about my hair. She was attentive and extremely professional, all under the pressure of doing a new client's wedding hair. I asked for a natural, warm brown foilyage and wanted a base bump. I booked my appointment online and it just so happened that Linh, the owner, was available on the day that I was looking to come in. The receptionist left me a voicemail the morning of the appointment to tell me that Linh does not see new clients if it's their first time at the salon. I wasn't able to check my phone at work and rushed out of work so that I could make it in time for my appointment. They were going to cancel my appointment but luckily another stylist was available. I have black hair and wanted to go blonde so they asked me to send a picture first to make sure their hair colorist could do it. She agreed and so I rushed from Baltimore to keep my appointment time. The salon itself was trendy and spacious but I didn't feel very welcomed. The stylists there seem like they're all friends and talk to each other while clients are in the chair without acknowledging the client. I saw Kiani for my color. She was friendly and everything but I was disappointed at first when my hair turned out blue. I was exhausted after six hours in the chair so I just wanted to leave after the blow dry. She told me that she overtoned it and that it will wash out nicely to blonde. It eventually did but it took about two weeks. I returned to see Kiani for root touch up and wasn't loving the color at first but, again, it washed out nicely in a few weeks. Kiani is a talented colorist but I probably wouldn't return to the salon since it's far, pricey, and not the best customer service, with the exception of Kiani. Make sure to chunk out a couple of hours for your appointment, eat and go to the bathroom before your appointment because I was there for 6 hours (a little warning would have helped, lol) read more

Shaine did an amazing job! I came in with mostly virgin dark hair and after about 5-6 hours or so I left with this amazing multicolored fun "peekaboo" style! Shaine did an awesome job working with me on deciding the final outcome and explaining the pros and cons of different shades of colors. While she gave her own ideas, I really felt like she took the time to completely understand what I wanted which is super important. She implemented a lot of different techniques to achieve this look. She's super skilled while also being very personable! She also gave me aftercare recommendations and helped me understand what to expect. So I left feeling really good. It was fate that my sister and I met Victoria because not only is she our go-to hair colorist, but she is one of our closest friends! Victoria is everything that you are looking for when it comes to finding the perfect hair professional. She is talkative, super nice, hardworking, and laidback. She's also great at giving you the color you want and providing the least amount of damage to your hair. My sister and I always have a blast when we go to Victoria! Got a recommendation to go here and since I was going to be in the area, I thought, what the heck, why not. It was a nice experience but this was two years ago. I just needed my hair color corrected. Initially I wanted to do something out of the norm hair look as is their specialty. My stylist Anh and I decided to correct my color first then come back later to do lighten my whole head like I wanted. Now that our go-to hair colorist, Victoria E., is on maternity leave, we went with the recommendation of April. My sister and I are so happy choosing April for our hair coloring. We both were coming in with dark roots and light hair (our previous pink and purple colors faded into a light blonde-brownish color). Hair dyed by Lexy Byun! SO TALENTED! I wanted a natural balayage look and found Lexy on instagram @hairbylexybyun and loved her styles. I am so happy with the results and my hair is non-damaged and soft even after bleaching and dyeing, she carefully watches over the entire process and has a special technique that makes the transition at the top of my head exactly the way I like it! My friends asked who did my hair as soon as they saw!! I had a japanese straight perm done 6 months prior, so she did a test strand before on a hidden piece of hair to see if the bleach would damage the treated hair, which I really appreciated. The new studio is amaaaaaah-zing! They've moved from their previous location inside of a spa to an awesome warehouse that just oooooozes Be Scene culture. Music pumps from the speakers, there is iconic art all over the walls, and it just has that super cool vibe that makes you know you're going to get whatever Instagram hair trend you've been eyeing. ;) Linh is, of course, still the master and is the incredible hair color and cutting wizard that he's always been, but his popularity and travel schedule means he's sometimes booked months and months in advance. With the space of the new studio, Be Scene now has a full flock of additional stylists available to make all your hair dreams come true. I highly recommend literally any of the stylists working at Be Scene, although you may want to peruse each stylist's Instagram to see if there's one in particular that does work you really vibe with. My girl, Lexy Byun, takes the best care of me everytime I go :D The first I went, back in March, I left with a beautiful metallic, silvery purple. When the color had finally faded (about a month and a half later) it was a beautiful light blonde. The second time I visited (in August), I left with a wonderful array of colors in my hair. This was the first time I went to get my hair professionally taken care of and I am definitely coming back. Service: 5/5 Everyone from the front desk to the wonderful lady who washed my hair was a delight to talk to and eager to answer any questions I had (a lot lol). Product: 4/5 To preface, I hardly know anything about hair coloring and bleaching. The second you walk in, you're greeted warmly, and it has such a fun vibe that I didn't mind having a minute to take everything in. I love the mural in the front of the studio and the HUSTLE in the back. Hair Stylist - Liz Loveee Liz. She just gets me and the colors that I want. She's very easy to work with and very knowledgeable . The first time I came in, I wanted silver and a small trim. She convinced me to cut my hair shorter and made the bleaching process easier. I loved the way my hair turned out !! It faded out so nicely and just in time for Coachella .! The second time, I wanted to switch it up and bring my hair color back to brown. She helped me achieve a small little Balayage. Overall, I always leave with a smile on my face. Yes you do pay a pretty penny, but it's worth it in my opinion. This is a super cool space, big garage doors that they open when it's nice out, art everywhere, a real creative vibe! Front desk is always friendly & my favorite stylist, Megan M. is always quick to greet me when I walk through the door! I've seen her for all my styling needs for many years (& boy, that's been a lot of needs) I have curly hair & Im 80% grey. She's taken me all the blonde & back to brunette. She is a curly hair specialist who is constantly learning & training to hone her skills. Recently we've been highlighting & I love the deep dimensions she's created, I get compliments on my color all the time I trust that every time I leave her chair I'm gonna love my do. I highly recommend Megan M. for curly hair, grey coverage & coloring, she is a creative, knowledgeable professional stylist. Parking lot is tricky but there is plenty of street parking. read more

Got there all depressed and hoping for a cool change but the minute I sat there to wait my turn with Kasey, I knew I was in the right place. Love the vibe, is different, upbeat, there is music all the time. This salon is a well oiled machine. The staff is friendly, helpful, polite and always smiling. Kasey did an amazing color correction on my hair! She listend to what I was hoping to get and she worked with me to achieve a stunning blend of colors. The service was quick but well performed. I live about 50 minutes from the studio and will continue to drive the commute to see Reina. She does magic on hair and is known for her pastel coloring. She has superb attention to detail and has a knack for the Lob. The prices can be high, but considering I have been asking for a lob with grey for years and BeScene was the only place to do it for me and do it well, I will pay whatever it takes. You look amazing when you walk out and I have never gotten so many compliments. It is worth the price, every penny of it and worth it if you are unsure of the commute to North Bethesda. read more

Lexy completely fixed my years of terrible home haircuts! I bleached my hair and used box dye which had faded but the haircut was so good that I think she honestly made my damaged, tie dye looking hair look cool. After a dozens of bad haircuts at salons growing up and through college, I hadn't had my hair done professionally for almost a decade, but I have faith again in stylists. She framed my face really well and styled my hair in a way that I didn't know my hair could look. I drove 2 hours for this haircut and am happy I did.
