My wife and I ate there for the first time today. The breakfast was pretty good. But the most impressive thing was the staff. We found them to be very friendly and very accomodating. We did not order anything off menu, but the waitress went out of her way to let us know they would customize our order any way we liked. We will definitely be back. read more

Initially, the place was hard to find and then I walked in and saw that they didn't have a credit card machine. Therefore, I asked another patron if they were cash only to which they said yes. The restaurant was very nice and homey. Most of the wait staff was very friendly; however, I was seated at the 'counter' and interacted with some of their coffee / dish runners. They were a little moody, but it was a busy Saturday morning. I ordered via the waitress' recommendation a veggie omelette with a half order of hash browns and half order of bacon. The portions for halves were still large so I'm happy that I only ordered halves. The omelette was very good and not overcooked. They are known for their hash browns and will agree that they were delicious! I prefer crispy bacon and didn't mention that but the bacon came out to the perfect crispy but not burnt taste. Only reason why I didn't leave 5 stars: they should have a sign out posting that they are cash / personal check only. I originally had sat down and was ready to order and then found out that they were cash only. Needless to say, I left the establishment to go a couple of blocks over to the Chase to get cash. Breakfast was good and better than most in town. We waited20 minutes. Small place so expect to wait. Consider changing the counter. Nobody was there and it takes a lot of space. Breakfast at Berts was amazing! The service was wonderful, everyone was very friendly and made sure we had everything we needed. The food came out quick and was all correct and tasted great. They even let my husband pick 2 different kinds of toast with his meal. They offer smaller portions on most of their food, too. Definitely recommend Berts! read more

Amazing Breakfast! My very large group and I were on our way north to a camp ground so we were looking for somewhere good to eat in Benton Harbor. Right off the highway, easy place to find, we chose Berts due to the ratings. Knowing they closed at 1:00pm they still offered to sit 9 of us. Service was quick, friendly, and consistant. I only get eggs benedict at certain places and the serve mentioned the cook has her own special receipe for the sauce, had to try it. It was Delicious! What a find! We were having a difficult time finding a place open for breakfast on a recent girls weekend and came across Bert's through Yelp. Typical little diner with excellent food. We all liked our food, especially the hashbrowns (loved them). My friend was excited about the way they buttered the toast. The only complaint was one person didn't care for the sausage links - they were dry and charred. But overall, it was a great find for four hungry girls. Best kept secret in Stevensville. Excellent breakfast foods, fresh, consistent quality. Small venue, largest table seats 6. There are booths, couple tables for 2, & counter seating. Retro. Always busy. Service is fast. You will never see the bottom of your coffee cup, unless you down it! One dedicated person to refill your cup, continuously. Cleanest Restaurant I have ever been to. Place is spot less. Food is great and they will let you special order something, if they have the items they need. Their speciality is probably their biscuits and gravy or their Eggs Benedict. The hollandaise sauce is the bomb, made from scratch. Service is great very fast and well done. Recently traveled to the area for my wife's birthday. Checked out local breakfast spots on smartphone and found Berts. When we arrived, we realized that the restuarant appears to be an attached garage to a residence, wasn't sure about going in. What a suprise. The staff was wonderful and friendly and the food was superb. We always like to try the local places vs chain locations and were we ever right. We actually laughed when they stated that we could get half orders because what places gives you too much food for your buck now-a-days but Bert's does. We truely could have gotten half orders and been fine. There were many locals at the restuarant and that atmosphere made our stop even more enjoyable. We loved the Stevensville area and will return for it and to Berts in the future. Don't miss this great local opportunity. read more

A group of us from the night shift decided to go here after our shift on a Saturday morning. There isn't a lot of seating for bigger groups but if was not uncomfortable. The wait staff is very friendly but it seemed like we couldn't get a sip out of our coffee before the BADGER came back to refill the cups. I don't mean to be rude but it seemed like even if we refused the refill the first time she was right back within seconds asking again. Also I would suggest that the waitress gets a tray to put the plates on if she is going to be caring multiple plates at one time. I don't really like to eat food that has had someones finger in it. It seems like a friendly place but I was not too keen on all of the non staff traffic coming through the kitchen (such as police officers and off duty staff). All in all the food was alright and a couple of the guys are head over heels for the Eggs Benedict. I would consider coming here again but not with such a large group. read more
