Wow! Definitely worth the stop. The bread & oil was excellent. I had the Nonna's Lasagna Bianca and it was truly one of the best meals I've had. My colleagues all enjoyed their's as well. Taking home the chocolate covered strawberry cake for dessert. Yum! read more

The food was always great. We ordered a to-go meal for the family for Mother's Day. It wasn't their best effort, but we were willing to overlook it since there is a pandemic right now and they may not have full staff available. When I called to place the order, I said I wanted to pick it up ON Mother's Day. Person who answered the phone said that Bertelone's wouldn't be open on Mother's Day. Since I couldn't make the trip on Saturday, we decided to go on Friday. Gave a very generous tip since seating in house wasn't happening and I KNOW waitresses aren't making so much these days. Got home and found a piece of regular cake (feeds 2) instead of the Mother's Day special cake they said would feed 4. I called and tried to speak with a manager and was told she would call me on the next day. She never did. read more

We had not planned on having an early dinner at Bertolone's but when the wait at the chain next door got too long, we walked right in and were seated immediately. The food was delicious and the portions were very generous! We made sure to get some cheesecake to go but deciding on one flavor was a challenge. All in all, we were delighted with the change in our dinner plan. read more

My husband and I were traveling on I65 and were hungry about an hour south of our stay in Birmingham. Many BBQ places were closed on Sunday, so I located on Yelp this great Italian place in a small town just a few miles from the interstate. Absolutely loved my lasagna that had plenty of meaty sauce. My husband had chicken parmigiana that he said was the best he'd had. Very friendly waitresses. read more

The first time we visited here was great but every subsequent visit has gone downhill. We've tried several pasta dishes, all are pretty good quality but small for what you're paying- I haven't had a pasta dish there in a few months as I started keto recently so perhaps the portion sizes (maybe even the quality) has changed. The bread they serve has always been pretty dry but drenching it in the oil mixture makes it better. The aforementioned keto diet is what prompted me to leave this review. This is the only restaurant in Calera that I know of that boasts a keto menu and I was thrilled to try it. We have had several keto pizzas made with their fathead dough crust as well as both lasagnas. Not very tasty, but no carb substitution really is. Put enough cheese and sauce on it though and it's decent- definitely enough to kill a pizza craving. Most recently, however, my husband ordered a keto pizza for pickup and 1 hour later he was still at the restaurant waiting on it to be cooked. This was a Monday night, by the way. When he got the pizza home, it was not on keto crust. He went back for an actual keto pizza and apparently it really only takes 20 minutes to make one so I'm not sure what they were doing for that hour. They did let us keep the original pizza though. read more

My family and I came here very hungry after soccer and man did they deliver we did not have to wait too long on a Saturday night they gave us bread to start it off and that was some gosh dang good bread then we ordered a appetizer meatball something can't remember name but it was really good then we all got a salad or soup that came with the meal then the main course ohhhhh baby it was good we all got some type of pasta and it was all really good and it was lots of food no one finished there food so now we have lots of leftovers then we got desert and they said we were only getting a slice man this was like half the cake and don't get me started on the customer service it was so fast so I definitely recommend this his place if your in Calara or Hoover AL. read more

Oh my gosh- incredible Italian food - wonderful peach sangria - just hate this place is not close to Florida - some of the best Italian we have had - excellent service - we were too full to try the desserts but they looked absolutely wonderful! So glad we came here instead of the ole Cracker Barrell next door!! You won't be sorry! read more

I love food, but this is not it for me. Maybe I got the wrong dish, but how can you mess up Chicken Alfredo? The sauce was watered down and the flavor was just not right. I normally will finish the entire meal, but I could not and put the rest in the garbage. The cake would have been good if it would have been freshly baked. I think they freeze the cakes. This makes them taste dry. This was my second time eating here. I will not be back. read more

Wow wow wow one of the best Italian Restaurants we have ever been to!! I had the keto lasagna and my husband had the regular lasagna we loved both of them!! I don't think you will be disappointed with anything they have read more

Bertolone's is a relative newcomer in Calera. It is located where "Red Zone" once was. As such, the owner has cleverly designed the interior such that it combines the traditional feel of a classic Italion eatery with a contemporary design. The service was exceptional. Our waitress was warm, friendly, and helpful. As first-timers, my wife and I asked the waitress for recommendations. She was spot on! Not just about adult dishes, but about what the kids would enjoy, too. She said that the Lasagna was popular and that she prefers the chicken parmesan. She recommended the spaghetti with meatballs for the boys. The entres come with soup or salad. We had the chicken parmesan with an exquisite tomato basil soup. The boys loved the spaghetti. Furthermore, the chicken parmesan seemed to melt into a symphony of flavor. Portion sizes were hardy and we had enough for to-go boxes of the boys' spaghetti. Additionally, the food was affordably priced. This was to my surprise given the feel nature of the environment and quality of the food and service! The manager (owner maybe) moved about the resteraunt ensuring patrons were satisfied. Overall, it was a wonderful dining experience. We have been recommending this establishment to friends and family. We will definitely be dining at Bertolone's frequently! read more

I'm not a fan of this place. The first time I went my food was freezing cold. Maybe it's because I don't eat meat and am just not a huge fan of Italian in general. read more

This spot is very nice! I love the small Italian atmosphere and have eaten there several times. The staff has always been pleasant. This weekend my family decided to order curbside (On a Sunday). We got home my order was incorrect, I quickly called and Sarah (the manager) gave me the option of recooking my meal or refunding me. I chose the refund because I live 30minutes away and did not feel like driving out there again. She said no problem... well Tuesday rolls around. My bank says that there isn't a refund in process. I call and speak with Suzie, she explains that it make take two to three days... to call back on Thursday (she takes my name and number). I called on Thursday and speak with Sarah (the manager) again and she she she didn't have my name and number or card information to refund it (information you should have asked for as soon as you offered the refund). I gave her all the information she needed and she said as soon as it's done, I'll give you a call... No Call! Today is Friday!!! N I still haven't received a refund. It is more about the principal of the situation than the money (but don't get me wrong, I want my money back). Communication is lacking between employees and apparently, they do not take their mistakes seriously otherwise my money would have been returned. I understand restaurants can get busy, but a whole week, come on now! read more

Love this place! Take home or eat in. We have celebrating family milestones and have enjoyed our food every time. Don't forget to leave room for dessert! Yum!! read more

I don't know but this is the first time I haven't been impressed by the food from their various restaurants. Something is missing from the food here compared to their original in Alabaster and in Clanton. The salad ingredients and Italian dressing were tasteless. Even the oil for the bread wasn't the same but then the waiter didn't prepare it, I just poured the oil out myself. It was missing something, maybe pepper. Not busy at all but had to wait on the waiter to refill our drinks. I had ravioli with mushrooms and it was ok, not great. I'll be back to try it again and hope it has improved. read more

Food was great. Our entrees came out with our salads and before our appetizer. Server apologized for the order in which the food was served. Restaurant was clean and well staffed. Service was good. read more

Went in to get a piece of the "famous cake" I had heard so much about. I got a piece of the italian cream cake togo. When I got home I was so excited to try it. Boy was I disappointed. The cake was super dry, there was hardly any icing between the layers, and what icing was on there, was too sweet. Maybe i just caught them on a bad day, but you would think that on a Friday night they would be more prepared with fresher food. read more

I had a great experience . I visited for the first time last Saturday . The food was delicious and I highly recommend the chicken Parmesan. The service was a little slow , and it wasn't a full house . However , my food itself came out at a reasonable time and is one of the best dishes I've ever had . I will be coming back ... frequently . read more

They offered a special on Facebook. Buy one entree and get one free with a cap of $14. This was our first visit. I'm sure the intent of the coupon offer was to get new customers that would continue to come back. New to the area, we thought we would give it a try as we dine out frequently. We didn't arrive to just take advantage of getting two entrees and not spending any other money. We got an appetizer, glass of chianti, an Italian coffee and my husband got an entree for $17 (Veal Parm) and I opted for the entree in the photo they had on the coupon. That dish was not on the menu and I was unaware of the price. Upon receiving the check and presenting our coupon, we were told that the free entree had to be $14 or less and that my entree was $15.25 so they could not honor the coupon!!! Eventually, they gave us a credit of $9 for our appetizer. I asked why they couldn't just charge us $1.25 for my entree but the waiter had no explanation. We could have easily arrived at the restaurant and ordered nothing but two $14 entrees. This made no sense and certainly did not accomplish what the offer set out to do -- get a new customer. The food & service was okay but we do not plan to return. There are other options. read more

We were surprised when we walked in and saw a big photo of Joe hanging on the wall. We love Joe's Italian in Alabaster, so we had high hopes for this place. Sadly, it's nothing like Joe's. The bread and dipping oil was so bland, it tasted like I was dipping flavorless bread into water. It was gross. The salad, if that's what you want to call it, was literally just lettuce, tasteless croutons (maybe they used left over bread to make their own?), a little cheese and Caesar dressing that tasted like Italian dressing. Our food took a while to come out. When it did, my husband's was cold. We had to send it back, which they were nice about (the service was the only positive thing I can say about this place). The portions were very small for the price. My husband's meal was $16 something and was a small bowl of pasta, a creamy sauce and like 4 shrimp. All our meals were bland and required salt. Even our 6 year old son said his fettuccine Alfredo tasted like water. We won't be returning here. Instead, we'll drive to Joe's in Alabaster! read more
