I'm giving Berta two stars because their dresses are insanely gorgeous and I found my dream dress on sample sale as I was in a time crunch. The dress fit like a glove and only needed to be hemmed for length. Long story short the alterations were a DISASTER. I paid extra to have this done in a timely manner, it was supposed to be close to done on the 2nd fitting and that's where the chaos ensued. At the first fitting I had pins all at the bottom of the dress and was told would be hemming from bottom up. However at the second fitting, the seamstress cut my dress in HALF. It altered the entire look of the dress and they violated their own contract. (Dresses are only supposed to be hemmed from bottom up per their own contract) My mother basically had to fight to get the dress back in my own hands and had to rush to pay an additional $2,000 to an alternate tailor and get it fixed in time for my wedding. After contacting and going back and forth all Berta did was refund me for the tailoring that destroyed my dress and a measly 10% off the cost of the dress which didn't even cover half of what it cost me to repair. I had to travel almost 2 hours both ways and take time off work. The attitude I received was that they basically couldn't care less about making me comfortable during this experience. One of my favorite parts of a Berta gown is the long corset back which was irreparable unfortunately. Save yourself the nightmare and get alterations elsewhere! If in NY go to Kerianne Meehan NY on Long Island, she was able to salvage the mess Berta left me with. read more

AVOID AT ALL COSTS -DO NOT GIVE THIS STORE YOUR BUSINESS We arrived at 4:18 PM and apparently Clara, regional manager, does not have the company's best interest in mind and/or was more interested in relaxing at the front desk. I wore a Berta for my wedding and came to the city for my sister to find a Berta for her 2023 wedding. Our appointment was at 4:00. We were late because I am 6 months pregnant and had to stop to find a restroom. Upon arrival Clara has told us that she canceled our appointment (cancellation time was 4:15) despite the fact that there was not a soul shopping. Clara was lacking any sign of human emotion when I explained the reason for our tardiness. She refused to make an exception. I loved Berta but truly question the company after hiring someone so despicable. I will certainly not be back and will be sure that other brides to be in our circle are aware of terrible operation of this store. read more

Though the original was not in my budget, Liana suggested the sample dress. Way cheaper and just needed a couple alterations! She made me feel like a valued customer and followed up with me after our visit to make sure I was happy with the purchase. Also, she was super patient considering I picked out quite a few dresses. Avoid this bridal salon at all costs! Berta has, in my opinion, the most beautiful wedding dresses of any I've seen. My daughter always hoped to get a Berta dress. But if we had it to do over, we would not have bought her dress there. Dealing with them was a nightmare. If you want a Berta dress try to find it elsewhere. They are terribly unreliable. We bought my daughter's dress a full year before her wedding but weren't able to take it home until 2 days before her wedding. When it came to (relatively minor) alterations, they missed every deadline and made many errors. Never apologized. They caused us so much unnecessary stress. By far the worst aspect of wedding planning for us and the only vendor with whom we had a problem. Read these reviews carefully and you will see that lots of other brides have had the same experience. Additionally they didn't respond to our emails or phone calls; usually they didn't even answer their phone. We paid top dollar for her dress but got horrendous service. Yes, their dresses are pretty, but not worth the aggravation. There are lots of other beautiful dresses out there. This was an awful experience. I had such an amazing experience at Berta! Breyanna called me the week before my appointment and was warm and kind and listened to me when asking about my preferences. She greeted me with the same warmth the day of my appointment and had already chosen some dresses for me to try. Updating my review based on my experience trying to work with Berta to make a timely alterations appointment. It's good to be aware of a few things: every interaction requires an appointment and often they are far off into the future. I wanted to get Berta to manage my dress alterations but they made an appointment a full month out, which would require a rush fee. Given they won't add me to a waitlist or work with me to find a anything sooner than four weeks, I decided to simply pick up my dress. Unfortunately, I've been going back and forth with them to complete this simple task, which is beyond exhausting. The dresses at Berta are beautiful but the post-purchase customer experience and service is definitely lacking. I'll echo the below reviews that the consultants are rude, the experience is rushed, and it is somewhat ridiculous to pay $100 for the privilege of trying on dresses. PRO TIP: L'Fay bridal in NYC carries everything from Berta Couture to Berta Muse to Berta Prive. The Berta consultant we worked with told us they only carry limited selection there, but we found the exact same dresses (they have an entire room dedicated to Berta, as well as some spillover in another room) without the rush or the attitude. I had an appointment with Alyssa at Berta NYC yesterday and it was truly an incredible experience. The gowns sparkle in the natural light of this beautiful soho loft. Your appointment is intimate and classy (Not like Kleinfields!). You'll walk around the room, sipping on Prosecco, sliding your fingers against the intricate hand beaded/ lace dresses while Alyssa tells you every detail about every gown. Her excitement for me and my wedding made me want to invite her to my big day. She was so friendly, professional, knowledgeable and kind. I only went to 3 designers/boutiques to look for wedding gowns, and after my first appointment at Berta I was tempted to not even go to the second, because I didn't think it would beat Berta's (I was right). From the moment I booked the Berta appointment, everything was seamless. If you are wondering if the cost of a Berta gown is worth it, it 100% is. The quality and styles of the dresses are incredible, and even with a huge amount of detail, quality fabric and structure, the gowns are still lightweight and movable. I never felt that any of the gowns were heavy, and the quality of the samples was amazing. The samples looked brand new and were pristine, unlike some other boutiques that are worn/dirty. The showroom experience is also so much fun and I'm so happy to have Breyanna as my stylist. She contacted me prior to my first appointment asking about preferences and any specific styles I wanted to try so that she could pull them and have them ready before I even got to my appointment. I already knew a few styles that I wanted to try, and sure enough they were all lined up and ready the day of. Breyanna was transparent about costs and timelines, offering multiple tips about the dresses, modifications, and alterations. I never felt pressured to purchase, and I felt like I was shopping with a friend! I brought a few friends and my mom to the appointment, and it was a dream. Quite disappointed with my experience here and the service I received. When I arrived at the store I was attended a few minutes after I arrived since I had gotten there around 10 minutes earlier than my appointment. The girl who attended me was nice, but I found it strange that she didn't let me change inside the dressing room by myself. I am not someone who cares about that kind of stuff, but it really bothered me that she assumed I was okay with it and never once asked me if I was okay with her being inside the room with me while changing. I was also annoyed at the fact that there was a group next to us that didn't bother to move their stuff out of the space where I was seated with my mom. The girl who attended me though, to her credit, told them to move their stuff. After I tried on two dresses, I decided that I needed some time to think about purchasing one of them, which was a short black dress. I told the woman to please send me details about the dress and she agreed that she would. I NEVER received an email about the dress, and this just makes me feel like this place doesn't take their clients seriously or really care for them. I personally own dresses from many high-end brands (Valentino, Versace, Dolce & Gabanna, just to name a few), but a dress here, especially the one I wanted to purchase, is definitely NOT worth $4,100. I understand that it's made with your specific measurements, but that's just outrageous. I would've purchased it then and there if it would have cost $2,500. That's how much I liked it. But the dress, to be totally honest, the more I think about it, is nothing special. It's a cloth that was made and sown into its shape, and there is nothing special about it. For that much money, I rather go buy a dress that people will recognize and immediately know the brand when I name it. I wish I had a different experience here. read more

This place is absolutely incredible. If you are obsessed with Berta gowns like me, (or just amazingly intricate, unique, stunning gowns!) but don't think you afford couture prices... Look no further than Berta NYC! This store gets so many amazing floor sample gowns from various Berta collections and sells them at much lower, amazing prices! The gowns are sold off-the-rack, as-is, and mainly in size 38 (sometimes size 40). I got my DREAM DRESS from here! It was a near-perfect floor sample as all of their dresses are (only some beads were missing that will be easy to replace), and it was listed at Berta NYC for $3,700 and get this: It's original retail price was $9,800 at the bridal salon I tried it on at... CRAZY! I am so unbelievably happy that I found a store like Berta NYC where I didn't have to sacrifice quality for price. Not to mention the ladies that work at Berta NYC are FANTASTIC. Shoutout to Lindsey and Liana! They are Berta fairy godmothers that make dress dreams come true and made my experience so wonderful. I ordered my dress actually over the phone because I live in a different state and I was extremely nervous about the fit and the condition of the dress, having not seen it in person. Lindsey and Liana were both SO helpful and kind to take the time to ensure I was making the right decision for myself, regardless if I was going to buy the dress or not. They compared the dress measurements with my measurements I sent in, provided countless photos of the dress for me to inspect, got quotes for more fabric/beading repairs if I needed it, and offered alteration solutions to make my dream dress a possibility for me. I can't thank them enough for all that they did to make sure everything worked out. ALSO I ordered my dress on a Thursday and it arrived on a Tuesday! Crazy fast! So, for all you brides out there who need a dress quickly, this is definitely THE place to go... Even if you are out of state like me! When my dress got here, I was so excited and it was all I could have imagined and more. Lindsey and Liana also supplied me with a little extra sheer fabric, a nice Berta hanger, and a Berta garment bag to keep my dress safe and sound. If I could give ZERO stars...I would. For YEARS I dreamed of wearing a Berta gown to my wedding. So after I got engaged, I went to Berta this July and picked out my dress. Fast forward to November- I get a phone call telling me my dress was "destroyed in production", now let's keep in mind...I'm getting married in February....this gives me a little over 2 months to find another dress and get alterations!!! The call came in on a Saturday, and I was told that they won't be able to do anything for me until they are back in the showroom on WEDNESDAY! To me, this was a complete joke- time was seriously of the essence and they didn't care AT ALL. The attitude was so casual and nonchalant which made me even more upset, they were acting like this was my prom dress, not my wedding dress. When I arrived in the showroom that Wednesday, I got a completely different story than I got on the phone- now the story was, my dress would not be here because of "human error". I was disgusted, I couldn't even trust them to "make it right", which is what the manager kept saying, but she did nothing but give me a refund which is what I demanded. This was my first wedding dress shopping experience EVER and sad to say it was completely awful. First, timing always sets the standard and that right off the bat started on the wrong foot. I arrived at 10:45am on a Saturday morning and the doors were locked. My appointment was scheduled for 11:00am and they did not open the doors until 11:08am after I called and buzzed the doorbell numerous times. Sizing. While I knew I wasn't as skinny as a size 0, none of the dresses fit nor could I even get a vision of what the dress could look like because it just wasn't a realistic size. Customer service is so incredibly important in making someone feel valued and this place did not have that right. Once I gave my budget, they said, "Well our dresses start at $7-10K and it's like while I want to shop at Prada, I can't I can only afford Zara." That comment literally broke me in half. My first wedding dress experience EVER and you said THAT to me? Jesus. If you are a size 0-2 and can afford a dress $7-10K, then awesome, this place is for you. And best of all, these ready-to-wear BERTA gowns are offered at incredibly marked down prices. It really sounds too good to be true, but this place is legit. I have been to the showroom FOUR times because frankly, I couldn't decided on a single dress as each one is pure perfection. Nonetheless, Liana has been nothing but super sweet and patient with me. At no point did I feel pressured to buy and she welcomed me back with a smile every time. It's really the most comfortable I've felt from all the bridal places I've visited in the city.
