Best BBQ I've had in years--and thankfully close to my house! If you're looking for a family owned, Southern joint, this is it. The mom and daughter were tag teaming the front and kitchen. Super friendly, upbeat and welcoming. The place itself had plenty of street parking in front, but also a side parking lot. Inside the restaurant there are a few high top tables, however, it seems like take out or pick up is most popular. We ordered the Chef's Sampler Dinner which was more than enough for the two of us...and a second meal the following day! It comes with one of everything: Two sides of your choice (can never go wrong with Mac n cheese or greens), two corn bread slices, hot link, ribs, chicken, pulled pork and brisket. It's hard to say which items we loved the most, but it's hands down the most tender chicken and fall-off-the-bone ribs! I can't wait to try their stuffed turkey legs that they raved about. My friend and I were craving BBQ so we looked up some spots in the area. Berry's came up, and we'd never seen it before. We decided to look at some reviews , and decided to try an item to observe the service, and the food. Upon entering nothing about the business screams "Check Me Out" , the inside was small, and so dine in is very limited, and a little awkward. There were three teens running the shop, upon entering the girl working the front was friendly but EXTREMELY loud, she wasn't extremely professional, but was nice, and friendly.. but overall LOUD. Especially for how small the space was she was loud, and the conversations herself, and the two boys working were having openly while working were definitely not the most appropriate, but I wouldn't expect less from unsupervised adolescences. Now, we both ordered a single Mac & cheese just to try something. The price of the Mac was almost $10 for a small 6oz cup... so you really don't get much for the price. Once we got our food (To Go) we immediately got in the car and opened our Mac & cheese to observe it... We were shocked that reviews didn't fall far from our own observations. The Mac had little to NO cheese , and there was a random seasoning sprinkled on top (had no flavor). I took it upon myself to add some 'Baby Rays Sweet and Spicy BBQ Sauce' to the Mac when we got home, and it made it 100% better. Overall I will be giving this place 3 stars due to: lack of professionalism, quality, quantity, and price. The staff were definitely friendly, but overall loud, and she did reference that her boss was old (in her 60's) so she'll have to help her update the photos of the food on social media. It's July 4th nobody wanted to cook to I found this place. Walking in its quiet and not a lot of seating. The menu is on the wall and your greeted walking in. Prices aren't too bad for a BBQ place. I ended up ordering for a bunch of people. We got Quarter Chicken, Ribs, Rib Tips, Mac N Cheese, Yams, Baked Beans, Greens, Potato Salad & Sweet Potato Pie. They do have bottle drinks available. I heard the Ribs were pretty good. Greens were kinda salty....Mac N Cheese....Yams were pretty good. Chicken was descent....Potato Salad was ok....Baked Beans were good.....Ribs tips were ok.....Sweet Potato Pie wasn't that good. I ordered a lot of food and the gave me a half chicken I didn't order. A friend of mine went to this restaurant yesterday, October 3 because we saw the reviews and thought it'd be good. The owner greeted us. The customer service was OK. We placed our order then the owner and the other young lady that helped left for a catering job and left two teenagers there to oversee the restaurant. I received my food ordered the mix and match with the ribs and chicken with macaroni and cheese, yams, potato salad, cornbread. The chicken was dry and overcooked the macaroni was very salty and the potato salad was just big chunks of potatoes and some kind of cream sauce. It was not good. The cornbread was sweet. The ribs were tender. The sauce was not good. I brought my ribs home and put my own sauce on them and the yams were average. I only ate the yams the cornbread and brought the ribs home. I left all the food basically untouched. I wish I took a picture. I asked for a partial refund but the people that were there, which look like teenagers had no idea what to do. They tried calling the owner three times didn't answer her phone. He talked to somebody else I left my name and number they said they will call me when they got back. Have not received the call back. I call today, Sunday, October 4. Sounds like teenager answered the phone. I asked if the manager was available he said no one's there today. I asked him are you able to help me he immediately said no. I asked when will somebody be in? He said call back tomorrow. I would email, but they don't even have a valid email on their website. At this point I'll be calling my bank to dispute the charge. I do not recommend at all! read more

Absolutely the worst experience I've ever had here. I've been a loyal customer for years, but after yesterday, I'm seriously questioning if I'll ever come back. I went in for a quick meal before work, and it was a complete disaster. The food was disgustingly cold, like it had been sitting out for hours. I would rather suck a queef out of an obese woman for sustenance, than eat here. The brisket was drier than my grandmas biscuits, and she's a white woman... tried to make up for the dryness of the brisket with BBQ sauce, but it was so dry that they separated in my mouth -- BBQ sauce on one side, brisket on the other. No amount of chewing (I chewed A LOT) combined the two in my mouth. No fat on the brisket either, how am I supposed to keep up with my type 2 diabetes? If I didn't have the BBQ sauce, I would give this place a .5 star rating, simply because it provided a mild amount of protein. Would not risk it for this brisket. .5/5 rating. This place is really really good! Great Mac & cheese, fire pulled pork and brisket. The peach cobbler had this cinnamon topping that was delicious. I ordered the rib plate with two sides, baked beans and yams. The ribs were tender but lacked any flavor; the sauce saved them. The yams were dry and cold, and the baked beans were definitely the ones we all grew up eating out the red can! I honestly do not recommend this place! Go to Jack's! Came here on a whim and so glad I did! We had ordered their Chef's Sampler Dinner and I could not stop raving about it - every bite was absolutely delicious! What I enjoyed most was that each BBQ dish had it's own distinct seasoning and flavor - which is hard to find in the Seattle area. All meat was fork tender and the ribs are easily picked clean. We ate about 3/4 in one sitting. The Collard Greens are rich in flavor, and the mac n cheese creamy without being drippy. The corn bread was soft and slightly sweet - no grittiness here! The eating section is small, I believe I only saw one 4-top, one 2-top, and a bar facing the window, but it's kept clean and bright. It's also one of the few areas to have more than enough (free!) parking directly behind the building. The person behind the counter had a wonderfully warm personality. One of those people where you can tell they show love through providing good food. Absolutely Amazing!! These ribs taste just like Down South BBQ! Tender, and succulent. The hot links have the perfect amount of spice and snap in the skin. The roasted chicken was moist and seasoned perfectly. The peach cobbler was really delicious with a buttery pastry dough. Now the BBQ sauce... This place was ordered for our company lunch today and was the worse bbq I've ever had! As a matter of fact, all the meat looked like it was just baked in the oven with no sauce. That is literally how it came. Chicken still had the juice inside the whole pan. I mean why am I putting my own sauce over this food? It had no sauce whatsoever, just plain baked ribs and chicken and we had to pour our own bbq on it. Potatoe salad was meh. Too much relish. The food is delicious - especially the sides. The greens are spicy and mac and cheese is the right level of cheese. We went twice in one week because it's so good. The collard greens are a tad on the spicy side but that's just personal preference. The corn bread is hot, moist and sweet. I say a super win. Great place for authentic southern BBQ. I had the brisket sandwich and my partner had the 1/2 chicken, we took it home after talking with Judy and Steve who prepared it. Judy is the sister of the original owner, Rufus Berry, and is now managing the restaurant. The food was absolutely delicious, sweet BBQ sauce, with side of cornbread and a pickle. The mac and cheese and greens were also amazing, (don't skip the sides)!. Its a relatively small seating area with a TV, but if you're in a hurry, it's better to call in your order in advance (or order onlilne) and then you can either dine in or carry out. They mentioned they are applying for a liquor license but for now its dry on the inside. Overall great vibes from this place and having lived in Atlanta for 6 years, I can attest that this southern BBQ is LEGIT!!! read more

Upon entering Berry was sitting in the front, he was friendly and humble. The place was very tiny, walls were covered with past photos of visitors and articles of mainly Seattle things. There was a jukebox and a popcorn machine. A huge table set ready for a big party of friends. Berry brought the togo bag to us, which was very polite and welcoming. You never get that these days when you go to places. I love that! This is probably the best bbq ribs and bbq chicken I have ever tried. We just ordered like 30 minutes ago and got it to go. First thing we notice is how heavy the bag is. Literally feels like 15lbs. or more. We ordered two entrees. One Pork Ribs and one Chicken. Entrees come with beans, potato salad and cornbread. With a peach cobbler. Got home unloaded the heavy bag. Everything was nice and hot still! Opened the box of ribs and it was full of the nice smoky smells of real bbq. I quickly stuck the fork into one of the ribs, it went straight through i pulled the meat along the skin and it fell right off the bone. WOW! I swear I have never ever been able to do that with all the bbq I have eaten in my life! And I have had bbq from Houston and that was a no no. Me and my boyfriend was ecstatic already of how tender this juicy piece of rib was, i took the bite. It was so tasty and tender, I barely had to chew it. It was perfectly cooked. The bbq sauce was nice and tangy with the smoked flavor from the bbqing process. DELICIOUS! Then i opened the box of chicken. I was expecting it to be dry like most bbq chicken ive had but was I wrong. It was absolutely shockingly tender. The chicken breast was absolutely moist cooked PERFECTLY. meat fell right off. I barely had to poke my fork in the leg and the meat fell right off. Took the bite and it was so good. Man I love this place. Cornbread tastes homemade along with the beans and potato salad. This is probably the best bbq I have ever had in my life. We will definitely be visiting there in the near future! But one thing i didn't enjoy was the peach cobbler pie. I love BBQ and was visiting a friend nearby and stopped in before I left town. So glad I did! I had a pork sandwich and it was a large serving and delicious. I also tried one of the ribs, next time I'm in I'll order the rib dinner. They do take out so you can call ahead and order. While I was in a few people and stopped in for take out. The service was great, the woman at the front was very nice and Berry was very hospitable. 5 stars for friendly service and nice people. Finally an authentic dry rub Kansas City BBQ place with excellent collard greens!! The meat is very tender and falls off the bones. Everything is authentically homemade and the owners are awesome/very friendly! Must definitely try the Berry Hot sauce and Berry Gold sauce, but of course, the Original sauce is a staple.
