Picture doesn't do this justice-- best cheesecake. Ever. EVER.
    Katy D.

We only had the cheesecake and honestly I don't even know which one we had (were thinking it was a banana variety but had a caramel and nuts on top so?) but it was the best cheesecake. Ever. I'm pregnant and have been craving dessert, specifically cheesecake once I saw it written on a board whilst exiting the airport. Tried a few other shops, okay- but most seemed frozen or premade. Most dessert shops are dedicated to macaroons or gelato... This is all cheesecake (and cupcakes but those didn't look as appealing). I don't even know all the varieties, you just pick based on looks unless you know French. Was smooth, creamy, not overly sweet. We started with sharing a piece and quickly noted that when we come back (tomorrow--and the next day) we will get our own to avoid another fork fight. Americanos and espresso available, some outdoor tables, the perfect afternoon stop.

Cupcakes were waaaaaay too sweet here! seems like a popular spot in the area, the line almost went out the door and people kept coming in and out. I think they were too sweet and I had to share one with 2 other friends because I couldn't finish it myself. If you like sweet stuff you'll probably enjoy it more than I did.

The cupcakes and cheesecakes are all in a beautiful display that wraps around the store. I chose the speculoos cheesecake as it was the most appealing to me as I arrived a bit late in the afternoon and some options had already been sold out. By far this was the sweetest slice of cheesecake I've had. The filling was rich and creamy, the taste of cinnamon and caramel kept building up until about halfway through where I needed to take a break and sip on my coffee. It was just too sweet and I had yet to touch the frosting topping and cookie. After a bit of water I continued. I managed to finesse a piece of cookie, a sliver of frosting and a bit of cheesecake all onto one pile on my fork resulting in a rush of pleasure as I began to devour it. All that was followed by a loss in taste due to the surge in sugary goodness. It was delicious.

These litlle beauties are not only gorgeous but sinfully delicious as well. I took a box home for a birthday dinner party and they were a huge hit! And what a beautiful way to decorate for a special occasion. I will admit, I may not require any occasion to go back for more ;) Still at least 2 dozen more flavors to try.

The Dexter (with the raspberry dropper) and the Chocolate Ganache.

I only tried the cheesecake but it was quite good - not as overly sweet as the American type and very rich and creamy.

I haven't tried their cheesecake yet, though they do look very good, but definitely make sure you show up early.

There was a line at the door, but it moved fairly quickly. Once inside, you're in a beautiful Beaux-Arts salon. Service generally is very good. The Chocolat Chaud is superb. There are other savories and sweets on the menu here. This time we tried a Mont-Blanc (3/5). I know this is Angelina's signature pastry, but to me it couldn't compete with the Chocolat Chaud.

Angelina, Paris, France -- April 12…read more Our family of four with kids ages 9 and 10 stopped here for lunch after visiting the Louvre, drawn in by its reputation for having the best hot chocolate in the world. We were looking for a place to relax and refuel, and the experience felt a bit mixed overall. Arrival and First Impressions The space is elegant with classic Parisian charm. The line moved quickly, and we were seated with a great view of the dining room. It felt refined but still comfortable. The Highlights The famous hot chocolate lived up to expectations, thick, rich, and almost more like a dessert than a drink. We also had French onion soup and an éclair, both of which were very good. The pastries were clearly well made and thoughtfully prepared. The kids had chicken tenders, which they enjoyed, even though the tomato sauce was a bit different from what they expected. The Challenges The biggest drawback was the price. The meal felt expensive for what we ordered, coming in at €154 for a fairly simple lunch. Service felt slightly rushed as they moved tables along quickly. Final Thoughts We would likely return if we were nearby and specifically craving the hot chocolate again. It is a classic Paris stop and worth trying once, but the value may not justify going out of your way unless that signature experience is high on your list.

They are constantly pulling small parties (1-4) out of line to seat them quicker depending on the space available. We were lucky to get the sweetest waiter he was the kindest one we've had in the city during our entire trip! Unfortunately I did not get his name. Although while washing my hands inside one of the waitresses did come beside me and basically shoved me out of my way to place a serving tray on the sink in front of me??? Food is nothing to write home about but just aesthetically pleasing. I traveled with my 3 nieces who said the hot chocolate was too sweet and they're kids! To each their own, I still think everyone should give it a shot:) Beware if bees are one of your fears or if you're allergic and you sit outside they will be swarming all of the sweet food on the table, but don't be so afraid because they do not sting they only want your food.

Since it was a warm summer afternoon, I went for the Chocolat Glacé, their iced chocolate, which was a refreshing choice after walking around the neighborhood. We were too full to try any of the pastries, but the display was beautiful and made it very tempting to come back. In addition to their signature hot chocolate, they also offer a wonderful selection of French pastries, macarons, croissants, crêpes, and other sweet treats. One thing that's helpful to know before visiting is that the Montmartre branch is a takeaway pastry boutique rather than a full-service café or restaurant. Before arriving, I had imagined it would be more of a traditional Parisian tea salon with table service, but this location is designed for grabbing a drink or pastry to enjoy while exploring Place du Tertre. Knowing that beforehand helps set the right expectations. The staff member who assisted us at the counter was friendly and welcoming, making for a pleasant stop. The location itself is part of the experience. Right in the heart of Place du Tertre, surrounded by artists and the charm of Montmartre, it's an easy place to pop into for a sweet break while sightseeing. If you're visiting during the warmer months, I'd definitely recommend the iced chocolate. And if you have a bigger appetite than we did, the pastry selection looked impressive enough to make me want to return just for dessert.
