I've gone to a few salons in Denver, and I like this one the best. It's clean, smells like Aveda, and the employees make me feel really comfortable. I don't feel like I have to dress up to go get my hair cut (awesome!). Lisa and Minica have given me great cuts that continue to look nice weeks afterwards, and Sondra always makes my brows look a little flirty but sophisticated. It's been a month since I've had my appointment with Mary. The hair cut is still awful, and its apparent it's going to take another 4-5 months and another 2 cuts simply to undue the damage that Mary did. I would gladly pay 10x the price of a cut simply to get my hair back. A month later. That bad. Hell, I'd pay much more. I had been growing my hair out for several months, and wanting to preserve what I had finally achieved, I decided to research the best Salons in Denver. I came across Berenices, and after explaining my situation to the receptionist, she *recommended* Mary. Arriving, I did everything I could to ensure a good cut. I expressed that I merely needed a trim, just to clean things up a bit, and provided a picture. The picture I showed was of a model with hair *longer* than I had. I additionally stressed that I did NOT want to lose any length. Mary stated that she agreed. What else could I have done? (except go somewhere else of course; moral of the story) Apparently Mary simply refused listen or her ineptitude made it impossible for her to comply with a costumer's requests. So I sat down at her butcher's block and she proceeded to hack off all my hair. Several inches in some spots. Seriously; hair that was down to my neck, now only 2 inches from the crown. However, it is not just that I lost length. The cut itself is *atrocious.* Without asking; Mary took it upon herself to give me a hybrid Mullet/Mushroom. Cutting all the length off the back, and cutting a shelf into the rest of my hair that gives it a dilapidated shape that cannot be pulled back. The hair on the right side of my head is an inch shorter than the left. Literally an inch shorter. If i let my hair air dry it looks like a toupee is slipping off my head. Another great part, she decided to cut the hair behind my ears about 2 inches shorter than anything else so it sticks straight out. Honestly, this would be hilarious if it wasn't like someone flipping me the bird every time I pass a mirror. I still cannot get over how bad this haircut is, and that Berenices would employ someone with such an apparent lack of skill and then recommend her. The true kicker: during the cut she mentioned that her husband was growing out his hair but wouldn't let her touch it. Straight out of the mouths of babes as they say. This is going to take several more months to fix; a full month has done nothing to ease my suffering. I still have to walk around looking like a complete jackass. Don't let this happen to you. Disappointed! I had an appointment with Ashley recently for color and highlights, who passed me off to "Frank". I sat for an hour and 10 minutes of processing, which made my hair very dry and damaged. My recommendation to Berenices would be use timers for processing and not have customers retreat to the lower level to be forgotten after being handed off to someone other than my stylist, especially at a price tag of $199 not including the tip for Color/Highlights only. read more

My wife has been going here for years and has been pleased with the service she has gotten from Ashley. She went a month ago and expected the same great service as usual, but that WASN'T the case! Ashley applied the color treatment and it didn't stay. Her hair looked the same as before. She asked her to please redo the service and Ashley was less then pleasant. Minica butchered my hair worse than anyone ever has. I will NEVER go back. It has been almost three weeks and I still spend more time moving my hair around to cover the bare spots she left when she cut my very fine hair way too short. I have been gong to Berenices for 5 years now and have never had a bad experience. Actually, Berenices is the only place I trust to cut my hair. The staff is polite and the atmosphere is beyond relaxing. One of the main reasons I love Berenices is because I don't have to bring in a picture of what I want to look like. I recently came in and had my hair cut and colored by Janna. Not only was she very sweet and professional, she also did an excellent job! She made she was clear about what exactly I was looking for! I wanted to be as blonde as you can possibly be and she made that happen! My hair is beautiful and still healthy! Sometimes it can get scary when doing blonde but she made sure it would turn out like I wanted and she didn't fry it! I asked for a LOB, a long bob and she did it perfectly! I am growing my hair out so its longer than the normal lobs and exactly what I wanted. She was good conversation throughout the entire process and was so professional! She is quite talented and has a natural knack for doing hair! I highly recommend her! The salon is so open, clean and beautiful! It's a comfortable environment from the minute you walk in. Recently just moved here from the East Coast. Went in today to get highlights/hair cut. The entire staff was SO friendly. Saw Ericca for my hair services. She was great! Can't say enough good things. She listened to what I wanted/had in the past. She even made suggestions from what I previously had done to make my hair color even more to my liking. Can't beat the price! Paid $50 for a partial & $25 for a great cut. The facilities were clean & they have a very nice decorated lounge downstairs with coffee, comfy couches, TV, & even computers to browse the web to past the time. There was plenty of street parking. If I can give 0 stars I would. It was the first time I went to have my hair done in this salon. I booked it with Sara P. I came for my appointment and was told that they made mistake and overbooked me!!! So as a new client I drove 45 minutes for my appointment each way, while having 4weeks old baby home and they tell me sorry there is nothing they can do and they can't start working on my color, because another customer is going to be here in 30 minutes and they can't let her wait!!!! Unbelievable!!!! I have never been treated like this before, if you are professional you make sure your customer is the most satisfied especially, if it wasn't my fault at all! Really disappointed in this place. After I attempted to make a reservation online only to have it "lost" by their system, I called to remake the same reservation. The receptionist assured me it was in the system. Yet when my son came to get his hair cut, it had "disappeared." The manager was pretty nonchalant about the whole thing, and she was unwilling to to amend the situation (beyond saying that someone could "trim near his ears" but not give him a cut at this time). I understand that mistakes happen, but I didn't appreciate the fact that they didn't step up immediately to fix THEIR mistake. Furthermore, the manager was rather rude and full of herself. I'm not willing to support a place so disorganized and unprofessional, especially when there are many great salons in Denver (such as Betos on Colfax) where the management treats people with empathy and respect. read more

I originally scheduled an appointment with a stylist who had to go home sick the morning of my cut, but they called and offered me the option of keeping my appointment time with a more experienced stylist (Minica) for the same price. Come to Berenices and get your hair done by Tessa and you will leave feeling like a goddess wanting to build an altar to her and worship her. I can be VERY particular with my hair. This was the first salon I came to after moving to Denver from a small town. Tessa completely revamped my look and I left feeling like my hair was rejuvenated. I've been to higher end salons before where I felt like this but soon after, once I was at home left to my own devises, my hair lost its luster. That never happened after I started seeing Tessa and I changed absolutely nothing in my product and care regiment. There's something about the way she cuts hair (and colors it) that gives it life. She does a great job with listening to what you really want but is also helpful with transforming your dream pinterest hairstyle into a realistic, workable one for your everyday life. I should mention that I have very long, thick hair. Oftentimes I feel like when I get a blow out stylists give up half way through and just dry it the quickest way possible leaving my hair frantically frizzy. They then just result to a straightener which surely damages my hair. Tessa NEVER had a problem making my naturally curly hair appear silky smooth and finished before leaving the salon. I have to tell everybody! This was my first Aveda facial, but one of many facials that I have had throughout my life. It was the best spa experience! Friendly, unpretentious. Sondra was very nice and thorough when evaluating my sun damaged skin. The facial was a journey for the senses from head to toe! When recommending products, she was not pushy and also gave me other at home tips that I could try to keep my skin healthy. Finally !, found a nice salon in Denver. I am so happy I found Lisa, she is a master stylist, and gave me an awesome hair cut, I got a head massage, and a Deep conditioning treatment that made my damaged bleached hair feel like silk again... well, I am kinda afraid every time I step in a new spa, or salon to have my hair done, since most of the time I don't have good experiences, one time my bends got the look of a poodle out of a pet shop, and then the previous place ruined my hair texture with so much bleach and gave me multiple skunk color shades. Since Lisa is so knowledgeable, she did fixed the texture of my hair, with the deep conditioning , BTW they have awesome AVEDA products which is what they used in my hair, and also took her time with me , since I do have a lot of hair, and I wanted a V cut shaped in the back to help less the volume, so I explained to her what I wanted and she got it! I am very happy with the hair cut and the deep conditioning, I am just waiting till my hair can handle some color, and I will be coming back again for sure :-) read more

I just recently found Berenices and went for the first time. When I walked in I could tell right away that I liked it there, and that the staff was friendly and of high quality service. I am extremely meticulous with people cutting my hair, and have had many bad experiences until coming to Berenices. I have long, thick hair which can be a challenge for many but the woman who cut/styled my hair --Ashley-- did an exceptional job! She also honored my space and wasn't talking to any of the other hairdressers about what they did the night before, etc! Very focussed and attentive to all the details of my hair. I also got an eyebrow tweeze which was PHENOMENAL. Sara, one of the owners, tweezed my eyebrows and it was so much better than getting waxed! And she was also very enjoyable to talk to. I have gone here several times in the past and had great hair cuts with my old stylist (she moved). I had a haircut done by Nicole (In October) who seemed put out to be cutting my hair. I have thick, curly hair and I know it's a pain to cut but I asked the front desk to book me with a person that could handle it. Nicole seemed to know what she was talking about but at the same time annoyed because I asked her how she was going to cut it, instead of telling her exactly how to do it. The cut turned out bad, she did blunt layers throughout my hair so when I did straighten it it looked all choppy. Back to appointment itself. . . at the end she asked if I wanted it blown straight, which I said yes if you don't mind. Well, I was charged an extra $20 for a crappy blow out. She never mentioned anything about being charged extra and I have never had to pay extra for a blow out or even a flat iron straightening!! read more
