Considering it's the only place in Gainesville that you can get AYCE KBBQ, it's fine. The service is good and attentive. The restaurant itself is very spacious and good for large groups. There are three different price points for AYCE (which in my opinion are a little pricey for KBBQ), I normally choose the $28+ option to get the largest variety of meats. With alcohol, you should expect to spend $35+ for your meal. The side dishes are very basic options; however, they offer the mashed potatoes that everyone seems to like. The quality of meat is pretty decent. A definite positive is the yogurt drink at the end of the meal. Literally the smallest pro in the world, but I love Yakult so go you, Beque Holic. read more

My husband and I went here with our parents to celebrate our move to Gainesville and it was underwhelming. The staff was nice. The young man who waited on us did make multiple visits to check on us but it took quite some time to get refills on our drinks and time for the banchan to come to the table. A great place for meat lovers! We went for my friend's birthday because of their birthday deal. I definitely would go back again and not just for special occasions. My friend is Korean so he explained to our group of first timers what to expect and the proper etiquette. The waitstaff is available to assist you if you don't have a knowledgeable friend in the group (: SO MUCH MEAT! You can continue to order and order as much as you want but any meat majorly leftover- you will get charged extra for. The meat selection is GREAT and you can choose out of a few options the amount of choices you want and of course that reflects in the pricing. The sides are unlimited and very tasty. We all tried this "wasabi taco wrapper" and SO SPICY. I am the daredevil of the group when it comes to spicy and I was CRYING, it was good but I definitely recommend trying half of the slim paper soaked in wasabi. The only reason for 4 stars was the service was slow. You are supposed to try and grab their attention but our waitress was nowhere to be found. We desperately needed more water (see spicy wasabi taco paper) and has to ask two separate waiters before anyone brought any. Same with sides, had to ask continuously to anyone who walked by. I am new in town and tried this place out with friends. My friends wanted the all you can eat option but I just wanted one of the single plates on the menu. The staff refused to take my order unless I ordered the same meal as my friends. I am still confused why I was not allowed to order a meal off of their menu. I asked to be seated at a table next to my friends but was told the restauraunt was too busy (barely 1/3 of the tables were full). Later the manager offered to seat me at a table by myself away from my party in order to eat a meal of my choosing, but that defeats the purpose of sharing a meal with friends and seemed more of a punishment than anything else. The manager told me he couldn't trust me not to cheat the restaurant by eating my friends all you can eat deal. I am on chemo and don't have much if an appetite, so it's a pretty lucridous and mean accusation, and I shouldn't have to ask for special treatment to be served a meal on the menu. I just didn't want to be singled out and made this uncomfortable. My friends got to eat while I sat there and watched, not able to have anything except for a drink. It got worse when we left as, after we paid our bill, the entire waitstaff was lined up at the exit smirking and at me as we left. I have never been so uncomfortable in a restaurant- all for the crime of wanting to choose a meal from the menu I would eat and pay for. Why have it on the menu at all if you can't order it? I came here on a Sunday evening and because there were no reservations, my party of 8 was able to sit in the private room. The waitresses were very nice and accommodating and will change charred grills upon request. We did the AYCE option but because we were pressed for time, we didn't have a chance to order more than three meats. Beef bulgogi, brisket, and pork belly were very good and the side dishes were delicious. Each person also gets a bowl of rice and miso soup. One complaint specifically about the private room though is that one of the grills cooked much slower than the other one. Unfortunately, that really slowed down our cooking time and the brisket, which only takes about 5 minutes to grill, took about 10 minutes instead. The customer service and receptionist is totally disorganized. Told her my name and she didn't even write it down and tried to play it off as if she did. People who came in after me, got seated first. When I called beforehand, they said it was a 5-10 minute wait but when I arrived, it was 30 minutes, which was completely understandable. We LOVE going here!!! The service is always outstanding. The fact that they know how to staff properly and always have someone around who can get you a refill on a side or a drink is a huge plus. They know how to run a business. Make sure you try things you'd never thought you would like. I often crave this restaurant when I want a big meal and want to catch up with friends. It is certainly not the best KBBQ out there but for Gainesville it's pretty good. I usually order the AYCE A which comes with 4 meats, my go to are the brisket and pork belly. I've tried their spicy chicken and squid but it's not anything special. What I really like about this restaurant is that they give a lot of side dishes such as kimchi, rice, soup, salad, etc. Also, I noticed that when you ask for a second or third serving of meat, they give you less portions each time. I think this is so customers will finish all of their food. I personally like that since there have been many times where I gave up because there was just too much meat on the table. The restaurant is very nice with lots of seating, modern decor,and many TVs. They also have a private dining room if you want to eat in big groups. I have noticed that the servers are coming to check on tables frequently so you won't have to worry about not getting your food. The manager is very nice and he likes to come to each table to personally check up on customers. The one thing I don't like is their confusing specials. They have Happy Hour so you can get the AYCE for $19.99 and their birthday special. My word of advice is to call ahead because most of their specials or discounts only apply if you bring 4 or more people except for Happy Hour. There have been numerous times where I had a coupon but couldn't use it because there were only 2 people in my party. I wish they would be more specific. read more

Educational Aspect/Cooking If Beque Holic wants to attract more than the Korean Niche and to truly bring KBBQ into Gainesville as a cuisine for everyone, then they need to provide an extraordinary educational experience especially to those who have never done it before. Because the cooking is so interactive and fulfilling because the customer makes his own delicious food, it can be alot of fun! However if the customer has no one to lead them or no idea what to do, the experience can seem daunting especially if they don't want to pay for not eating food that they may horribly burn. 1) Make sure customers turn on their burners early on. By the time the first set of meat comes out you want your customers be able to cook so that there's no awkward wait time. My server didn't do this and instead I had to tell my friends after I noticed halfway into the side dishes being brought out. 2) Make sure that burners are not too hot We weren't told the importance of monitoring the temperature, which I was a little lax about halfway into the meal. For example if you have a new burner and are about to cook bulgogi you'll want a lower heat than if you were doing pork belly because you don't want the marinade to burn, which will happen if there is no layer of residue oil from cooking unseasoned meat. As a result our second round of bulgogi was slightly burnt, although still delicious. Possible Improvements 1) Assign one waiter/waitress, or one server and cook to each table only. Part of a great service is being able to talk and learn from your server. Although we had a primary server, we had 3 other servers as well at various parts of the meal. This makes it more difficult to form that connection with the server which makes it more difficult to request refills and new items as you don't know exactly who to ask. Also it just inhibits clear communication and does not help the educative process. During my first visit I had a wonderful server named Daniel who organized an exotic meat tour while he helped us get started cooking. Additionally this made it easier for him to describe the meat, concept, and work ethic of the restaurant as we regularly saw him during the course of the meal. I understand that they may have multiple people at each table so that they can train them on the job since there isn't too much business yet. Yet while our male server was good this time, that first time with Daniel was a far better experience because he was our only server. 2) Help your customers cook squid and pork/red bulgogi or at least make sure they know how to their first time as it is more difficult to tell whether this meat is done based off of visual cues. 3) Make sure to describe what makes their meat high-quality as it enhances the experience and builds better trust with the business. 4) Make sure to be more consistent with some items: For example my first time I had some nice pumpkin or sweet potato come out with my meat, however I had to request it my second time around after seeing that it was missing. I know that non-oriental people may not appreciate it as much, however I would like to know that it is there. 5) Have alternatives to the wasabi wraps such as lettuce which conveys a nice fresh crisp while also being relatively inexpensive. While I enjoy the wraps I know that a few of my friends did not like them because of the wasabi background taste. 6) Get more feedback! I know me and some friends would definitely like to see some fish cakes as side dishes. In conclusion: While the service could use some work, the spirit of the restaurant is great. You can tell that they are making a considerable effort in trying to please their customers, and while I have outlined some things I'd like to see changed; overall they were very congenial and honored our requests even when communication was unclear. I was told that they were supposed to have their grand opening after a week, however they are still in their soft opening and I can see why. They are still working out some of their kinks, however make no question that their food is amazing. The foundation is there they just need to refine it. read more

It has been 30 minutes since I left the restaurant and I'm still thinking about just how good their service was. From the moment I walked in I was attended to, with multiple staff checking in on how I was doing and making sure my side dishes were topped off. The meat was absolutely delicious and grilled to your liking, as it is a grill your own meat location, and will run you in the ballpark of $17 ~ $25 for a single serving, depending on what kind of cut you order. Portions are quite ample as I left stuffed. I also saw that all you can eat options are also available starting at $23 (you get access to higher quality cuts depending on which option you choose). Loved it!! If you like Korean BBQ (grilling your own food), I highly recommend this place. The food was delicious! I got the dinner combo for 2 and there was definitely enough food (we didn't even finish the rice). The staff was very welcoming and gave us tips on how to grill the meat. The beef bulgogi was freaking amazing!! If you look at the picture of the menu that another Yelp reviewer posted, you can see exactly what meats was in that combo. We didn't like the squid so we asked our server to substitute that for the spicy chicken. We recieved many side dishes with our meal. We liked the white rice and miso soup the most. It came with kimchi, pickled radish (pink), more pickled radish (white and orange), salad, and a few sauces. This is only our second time at a Korean BBQ so we are a bit inexperienced I guess. Our server told us that the pink pickled radish was to wrap the meat and salad, then we eat it like a burrito. But we didn't do that because we didn't really like the taste of the radish. The service was great. I think we had one of the manager/host help us first, then we had our server that brought out the meats. Solid 4.5 . Ate here for dinner with my family. We got there around 6pm on a Friday and got seated right away. The place got busier afterwards. There's 5 of us and we got the combo B which is suggested for 4. It's $99. It's more than enough food for 5. We took some food home and everybody is full. We got miso soup, salad, rice and different sides with it. Everything is delicious. I love the egg side dish, I think it's steamed, full of flavor. The meats were properly seasoned and so tender. My family thinks it's the best bulgogi they've had and we've had many, also my daughter lives in LA and says it's better than the ones she's had in LA. Overall great food, attentive wait staff. Btw, you can request more sides and rice for no extra charge. So why not 5 stars? Well, I reserve than for a really over the top restaurant. And this is not the fault of the restaurant, but I feel that you eat out so you don't have to cook but here you cook your food. Another plus, the vent system in their cooking apparatus is great, the restaurant didn't smell overwhelmingly of BBQ and we didn't come out smelling like we have been cooking. Visited Beque Holic for an early dinner on Mother's Day Sunday. We arrived at 4pm and there were only a few other tables seated. We waited about five minutes for them to clear off a table for us. Korean Barbecue is good for those who like to take part in the preparation of their food as you're personally cooking the meats on the grille at your table. The meals come with lots of little sides and appetizers. Soup, salad, pickled radishes, kimchi, etc. the restaurant has three main menu options. Al a carte meat selection, combos that serve a certain number or people and include several types of meats and an all you can eat option which is priced per person and includes a selection of meats. My boyfriend and I chose the all you can eat option because of course we're super greedy. We started with the brisket, pork belly and chicken. We later ordered the squid. The brisket was definitely the best meat we tried and neither of us cared for the squid. The picked radish and kimchi were both very tasty as well. The portions of meat are pretty large and when you add in the rice, and all the sides and sauces, it turned out to be a very large meal. We were stuffed by the time we left. The service was great and the waiter did an excellent job of explaining everything to us. First, I'm surprised that there's a kbbq here in Gainesville! The food here is great. We didn't do the all you can eat, we ordered off the menu. We had the kalbi (pork ribs) spicy chicken and 2 orders of bulgolgi (thinly sliced beef) for 4 people. This order comes with many sides and miso soup and rice per order. The miso soup was disappointing and it was the first thing I tried so I was very hesitant on the food. The rest of the food was great. the flavoring and portions on the meat was amazing. I didn't care for the side of turnip because of the wasabi flavoring (just not a fan of wasabi). I'm glad we didn't do the all you can eat because what we ordered was plenty for 4 people and still had a lot of food left for the next day. It was a cheaper alternative to the 28 dollar per person for the ayce option 2. Our server wasn't very attentive. He barely came over to check on us and our waters was always left empty even if he was staring at it unless you specifically asked him for a refill (it's almost finals week so I'll give him a pass).
