I went here a few months ago. When I first walked in, my stylist Romy had forgotten I was on her schedule and was flirting with her other client while doing my hair. She made me completely blonde from brown and I went back to bleach my dark roots and not only did they make my roots more brown and look more grown out but the girl who did it, Romy, cussed me out and called me names like dumb and stupid. The manager Katerina tried to fix with the little time she had but it still didn't do much of anything. They wouldn't give any type of refund for messing up and also not cutting my hair like I had booked over a month prior to my appointment. My head was very itchy and later that week I noticed it bleeding. To my surprise I ended up with a very noticeable bald spot. I have never hated more of how I look because of a salon. read more

I went from blonde to brunette on my own, and after a year, I decided to go back to blonde. After attempting to do it myself and messing up my hair BIG TIME, (I wasn't prepared for how long it would take to remove the dark pigment) I ended up with damaged, brassy, awful color. Katarina was not only funny and reassuring, but she did wonders on my hair. I left somewhat unsure about the color initially, because the florescent lights made the color look a bit stark. However, once I went outside and in natural lighting, I was shocked at how amazing it looked. Besides that, she trimmed my hair beautifully, (cleaning up my DIY cut). I had a fabulous first experience at this salon over the weekend in the capable hands of Leanna. I told her what I wanted and she executed it perfectly! I asked for a total color change which was quite a bit lighter than my current color with highlights. I was a bit concerned if the color would come out evenly as I already had multiple colors going on (with highlights), but it turned out beautiful! The cut was exactly right as well. Benvenuto Salon is open again and has amazing, meticulous procedures in place to meet Covid safety regulations. They limit the number of people inside the salon; take your temperature before you enter; each station is partitioned off with plexiglass; all staff wear masks. I felt safer there than I did at my dentist's office. Katerina, the owner, is an amazing stylist and colorist and a true supporter of our community. Tammy was so nice! I made the appt that morning to bring my Dad in. He has dementia and Parkinson's and she was so kind to him as she filed his nails. She was so quick that I had time to get a manicure. I brought my mom back the next day for a manicure and a pedicure. She is so good at what she does. Tammy is the only manicurist in the salon so you need to make an appt. She has worked in this salon for 15 years. I am so happy I found someone in San Anselmo so close to my parents house. Not only is it obvious that each stylist at Benvenuto loves their job but each of them carries a passion for truly making the client their top priority. I have been going to see Katerina for almost 2 years now and LOVE it. I get so many compliments on my hair and always feel great after I leave. I just moved here from out of state, and needed a salon quick. I am very particular about my hair, I absolutely loved my colorist back home, but obviously I'm not going to fly back and forth just for my hair. Anyway. When I made an appointment, I made it with Elizabeth. She did an amazing job on my hair, and I have a lot of it. My hair is naturally pretty dark, but I've been blonde for the last couple years. She knows exactly what she's doing. My hair needs a lot of upkeep, and she's very good with it. My hair is pretty long, and I've been wanting choppy layers, but without cutting too much length off. I told her what I wanted, and showed her a few pictures. and I walked out with the best layers I have ever gotten. Normally whenever I've gone in for choppy layers, the stylist ends up cutting too much length off, and I love my long hair too much to cut a lot off. I definitely recommend Elizabeth for cut AND colour. The salon itself to me is a little bit dated, I think they need to update the look a little bit. read more

Carlos is an artist, plain and simple. He is also one of the nicest and kindest people you'll ever meet. He has been coloring and cutting my hair for years. He gives me a one process color that looks like I spent HOURS getting highlights, and it looks absolutely, naturally beautiful. One of the things I love about Carlos is that he respects what I want, doesn't mind it when I flip flop, and he also gives me the heads up when I want to try something that won't work well for me. I have gone from long to short, to layered to bobbed, many times in all these years without fear or regret. After previous years of chasing stylists from one "name" salon to another, I feel like I grew up with Carlos. :-) And then there's Katrina and the rest of the Benvenuto's family! It's like going home. Kind and friendly, but also quiet and restful. I feel treated there, but not overwhelmed, or pandered to. I like the casual stylish flair and light and happy environment. Hands down, this is the best place to go to get a Keratin Treatment. The owner, Katrina, is very sweet and extremely professional. She knows exactly what she is doing and is very knowledgeable about the treatment. I had never met her before but she managed to squeeze me into her busy schedule on a weekday after the salon closed at 5pm. I got the treatment done here for my first time. I've done it 3 times since then (in San Francisco) and have not been as satisfied as i was at Benvenuto. From now on, i will only go to Benvenuto for the Keratin Treatments. Her prices are reasonable. I have never spent a dime so wisely. My hair is super shiny and sleek as opposed to the Brazilian Blowout that made the roots of my hair greasy. The process takes 3hrs, then is left in the hair for a minimum of 72hrs. The longer left in, the longer the results last. I left mine in 2 days with awesome results. Be sure to only use sulfate-free shampoo, otherwise the keratin that has coated your hair will wash out twice as fast. I've been using Pureology and i love it! The keratin stays on your hair for about 3-4 months until your hair goes back to normal. My hair is naturally curly, but after i got this done, i haven't had to spend more than 10 minutes doing my hair AND i don't even need the flat iron! It's life changing...I can now go to the gym in the morning and get to work before 8am AND have free evenings. It's great, i definitely recommend it for people who spend valuable time on their hair! read more

THE PLACE TO GO FOR KERATIN Benevenuto is a great salon, run like a tight ship by highly competent and very friendly people. I have been seeing Katrina (owner) since 2004 and hands down she gives me the best haircuts I have ever had anywhere, even super high-end places in New York where I used to live. But mostly I love her for her discerning eye (she's GREAT with both color and cut), her commitment to quality and the way she makes me feel - beautiful, and valued! Her face literally lights up when she completes each masterpiece. It's like you make her day just by letting her make you beautiful. I'm writing this review today because Katrina just did my first keratin treatment. I was wary after reading multiple mixed reviews about keratin, but when she explained her approach and how she'd tested each method over several years, as usual her confidence put me at ease. Apparently there are many varieties of this treatment and many ways it can go wrong. Katrina won't sell anything that doesn't work. She tests every new approach on her own head and she won't skimp. She buys the best products regardless of cost. And, on top of all that, she's priced competitively and frequently gives price breaks to loyal customers. What more can you ask for? read more

I've been going to Katerina, the owner, for more years than I can remember. I've traveled all over the world for my work, and I've gone to most every amazing hair salon out there. NO one colors my hair the way she does and no one cuts my hair better than Katerina. I have had many Brazilian blowouts as well. Katerina's are excellent. I feel so lucky that I found her. Not only is she a talented hairdresser and extraordinary colorist, but she is a kind, honest and welcoming business owner. There is no one in the Bay Area as talented!!! And for a real treat, her assistant Jessie, makes a regular shampoo seem like a spa experience. She is amazing. The women at the front desk are helpful. The salon is very clean and organized and welcoming. Carlos, the manager and another great stylist, is always happy and fun. Lee cuts my husband's hair and does an incredible job for him. It took a long time to find someone who cuts men's hair as well as Lee does. All in all, we both feel lucky to have found Benvenuto Salon owned by Katerina. And I have to mention the prices. ALL of her services are surprisingly reasonable. Right down the street you can pay double for half the quality. Some of the big name salons in Marin & San Francisco charge double for half the quality. Check out Benvenuto's. You'll never leave! Last but not least, I started seeing Katerina when I was a brunette. She slowly changed me to a blond and I could not be happier! There are petitions between each station. All employees and all customers must wear a mask at all times. There are hand sanitizing stations and air filtration machines everywhere. Okay, so the decor at Benvenuto is not impressive and it never feels like you are in a fancy city salon, BUT the reason to go here, and the reason for 5 stars is CARLOS. Have Carlos Mok cut your hair and you will be a happy camper. Carlos is the BEST hairstylist I have ever had. I've experienced my share of high-end stylists at salons like diPietro Todd, 77 Maiden Lane, etc. and bottom-line, Carlos is better, NICER and A LOT less expensive. He has been cutting my hair for 7 years and I always get tons of compliments (even from my Mom). You won't be disappointed. (Added bonus: Benvenuto did just finish a mini-renovation with new dark floors and warm colors on the walls -- a big improvement in the ambiance, but go for the great cut). read more
