Stopped in last night for a dinner to go. This was my first experience here and I was not disappointed! It is smal inside but very clean and had a hilarious movie playing. I ordered the chicken bento box and a crunchy roll. The bento box was better than I expected! The chicken was so fresh and the box was packed with salad, rice, 2 pieces of sushi, and 2 pieces of tempura shrimp. Sooo good. The staff was super friendly and happy! Parking was really good here- worth the small detour! The service was fast and friendly, the ambiance is set up for lots of people. I liked the seating, and the whole place was easy to navigate. The food is really good- I didn't realize the fried rice cost extra but that's on me. I got the number 1 with chicken, pork belly, and steak. It came with salad, two California roll slices, and veggies. The meat was all tasty, the only thing I wasn't the biggest fan of was the fried rice- it tastes a lot like curry. This hole in the wall sushi restaurant is amazing! Walked over while my car was at the charging station at Hy-Vee and had a delicious sushi and sashimi meal with my son. I highly recommend it. I so wanted to love this place. It's close and it's Japanese! Positives: Clean, Good design and good service. Opportunities: We ordered Miso Ramen, Shoyu Ramen and Chicken Donburi. Overwhelming issue with both noodle dishes was the noodles themselves. They were over cooked, kind of gloopy and had an odd texture/flavor. Soup and vegetables were good. Chicken dish was too moist, the outside of it should be crispy and I am not sure if it was fresh. The chicken overall lacked solid flavor and authentic textures. For reference I lived in Japan for two years and my GF is Vietnamese so we def know how these dishes should taste. Certainly a solid effort and maybe it was just a bad noodle day.. might return to try the Sushi! read more

Ordered via DoorDash, the Bento Box 1. Kushiyaki (Grilled Pork Belly was my choice of protein) also comes with white rice, California Roll, and veggie tempura. Customer Service did a great job making the meal look appetizing. The Pork Belly was delish! Seemed to have a Ponzu sauce coating, so much flavor. Cali Roll was fresh, real wasabi and ginger, and the veggie tempura was filling. For $18.00 (food costs are high for everyone right now) I feel it's still a great deal for the quality and quantity of food. No chopsticks, fork, or soy sauce, so maybe comment you want that, unless just an oversight. read more

I came in here for the Chicken Katsu Bento Box and it met all my expectations and more! I highly suggest their Bento boxes which allow you to try so many items from tempura fried vegetables, California roll, braised potatoes and carrot in a sweet soy sauce, choice of rice, and your main dish. I wish I lived closer because I would order one weekly for take out. It is a small restaurant, so if you have a large group, seating would be hard if it is busy. The gentleman who rang us up was nice, but I think it's overpriced for what you get. My wife's Veggie box was $20, same price as the sushi box for a few fried vegetables. Four things cost us $66. No kids menu/discount. Chicken and rice bowl was meh It reminded me of an all you can eat sushi restaurant "chicken teriyaki slice" with a side of rice. The spicy tuna was subpar, which I was really hoping it would be good. The ramen was the best thing we got, which I think we will try again at some point. I wish they had some Lunch promos or different kinds of promotions. It is a nice little restaurant, I would love to see it succeed hopefully they are just growing pains of new staff. read more

I have only been here once for a lunch with coworkers, but I sampled a few appetizers and some tonkatsu ramen. The ramen broth was tasty but unfortunately, as other reviewers mentioned, the noodles were not very firm at all. Not sure if they were overcooked or it's something to do with the brand or style of noodles. I really enjoyed the gyoza though!! If I go back, I will try a bento box, sushi, or stick to apps rather than the ramen. This is a pretty small spot with 20 seats or less, and the service is definitely prompt. read more

Yum! We tried Bento Moto today and it was delicious. The staff is friendly and very helpful. They'll help you choose the perfect dish for you and will prepare it the way you like it. Seating is limited. This is more of a sushi bar or casual quick stop in and enjoy a meal or takeout. We did takeout because I was in a hurry and needed to get back to the office. I had the specialty crunchy roll and loved it. Shrimp tempura, avocado and cucumber made it a crunchy delight. The shrimp tempura had a nice crisp batter that was cooked to a perfect golden brown. The cucumber was sliced thin so it gave the crunch without overpowering the roll. It was topped off with some eel sauce too which enhanced the flavor. I would definitely get lunch here again. Steak Skewer flavor was there, but would like a little more grill. Perhaps they didn't get it hot enough before placing it on. Sauce that coated the skewer was tasty. Potato croquets had a nice crunch and flavor. Very big portion and came with a basic spring salad. No beverage, including water, came with the dine in meal. Cozy place for some popular rolls, ramen, bento, and rice bowls. We've been here 3 times in the past month and the food is great. I've tried the spicy tuna roll, red dragon roll, pork and chicken Katsu, Curry Katsu, Shoyu Ramen, and Katsu Bento and it's top notch. Very friendly service, decent price, and convenient. This place deserves more traffic than it seems to currently get. If you have a hankering for something other than the burger places here on the east side, try Bento Moto, it won't disappoint. P.S. They have barstool seating, so the only reason why I'm giving it a 4 is because of that. Food was fantastic!! I found it to be very authentic and I really enjoyed the whole meal. I ordered multiple dishes, but too shy to take multiple photos as the place was smaller. Our sushi master was very friendly and made sure we felt welcomed with our two little ones. His cuts were precise and flavorful. I haven't had a really really really good piece of sashimi and roll for a minute. I'm glad I was able to give this place a try. Kids (unsure of the age range, but my son is three) eats free on Monday!!! read more

Love a good bento box, so I decided to give it a try. At first glance,$18 seemed a little steep for what is advertised as a to go meal, but was pleasantly surprised. I ordered the salmon, and it was a decent sized chunk on top of a large bed of white rice. The only complaint is that the char from the grill got a little strong near the edge, but overall, it was very tasty. The 4 piece California roll was standard but fresh. The 4 pieces of tempura veg were also hot, fresh and the pieces were big. I've never had what I think was stewed vegetables, but they were also good. In all, the portion size was good, especially for a bento, and everything seemed made fresh to order, so I'll definitely eat again. read more

Absolutely Hits! My son recently spent time in Japan and was craving a similar experience to many of the small - grab and go places that line the streets of Tokyo. Visiting Bento Moto prior to a movie was the the best choice. Walking into the shop you're transported to across the ocean. There is seating to watch the chefs prepare the food, large group table or community seating and window seating. Or if you're just looking to order to go - you can do that too. The staff were very helpful and gave good recommendations. And the menu has a great selection of sushi, bowl, and other options that are sure to satisfy. Picked up a Katsu Bento to-go, and it was very good. The pork cutlet was tender and crusted well, and I really enjoyed the veggie tempura. The ordering process was straightforward, and the food was ready when they said it would be. I chuckled that 'Naruto' was playing on the tv when I picked up my food. I tried Bento Moto for the first time. What initially prevented me from coming in was the prices. We often go to all you can eat type sushi restaurants. I decided to go in because I craved sushi, and I wanted something light, healthy, and convenient. I would say this place is an overall 5/5. The people as well as the place are very clean and seem to take pride in what they do. I was surprised at how fresh the food was. The quality and taste is many levels higher than getting sushi at your local grocery store and a couple levels higher than an all you can eat sushi place. Chef was dirty, wiped surface, then his hands and the knife all on the same rag. Food was horrible and small amounts unless you count the hard rice that was too much for the 3 pieces of tuna that he diced up. The lemons and cukes were huge and the seaweed salad was scant. The food was horrible, my tempura shrimp was like a beer battered shrimp and I got a head trying to find the shrimp. Rice was cold and taste bad and the steak screwer was three of the smallest pieces of beef I've ever seen for $5 a piece but the only thing that was reasonably good. I would stay away and not waste your money, Taco Bell is 100 yards away you'd get better food there.customer service was poor as well I think two words were said by cashier. Freshly made which has you waiting about 25 minutes for your order. The flavors are good, ingredients are fresh. Tried items from each category, appetizers, rolls and Ramen. The only thing seriously lacking is the fried rice which was bland and glutinous. It's not an inexpensive place. It's easy to spend $25 or more for one person. Please get rid of the overhead Rap music while I wait for my order. Makes a person feel like they to suffer to get to the good stuff. read more

This place is fantastic!! I had the Tuna Nigiri, Chicken Ramen and a Steak Kushiyaki.  The flavor of all of the food was so good!! Fresh ingredients and the customer service is top notch!  Talking with the owner while I waited for my food and he is a great guy. 3 generations of family work there and you can tell. It has a great atmosphere!! You can watch as they make the sushi right in front of you. It doesn't get any better than this! HIGHLY recommend Bento Moto!! read more
