Consequently, they're now drawing a larger and more talented pool of actors, directors, and designers to their ranks, as well as fans from all over Dallas/Fort Worth and beyond. There are ample opportunities to volunteer and be involved in the process. However, if you're content to view the finished product, their show seasons always offer a variety of musicals and straight plays, comedy and drama, edginess and family-friendly fare. No, they're not perfect, but they are certainly doing some promising things. If they keep growing and doing what they're doing, Onstage in Bedford is set to become a serious player on the DFW theatre scene.

An Unforgettable Night of Theatre…read more I recently saw Jekyll & Hyde: The Musical at the historic Uptown Theater in Grand Prairie, Texas, and it was an incredible experience. Many years ago, while serving as a soldier in Hawaii, I had the opportunity to see a professional production of Les Misérables in Honolulu. That experience stayed with me for decades and became my personal standard for what musical theatre could make an audience feel. I never expected a production in an intimate theatre in Grand Prairie to bring me back to that feeling, but it did. Somehow, this production made a smaller theatre feel like a full-scale Broadway experience. Director Michael Brown and the entire company created something special. The production flowed beautifully. The actors didn't simply enter, deliver their lines and leave. The production seemed to breathe. The music, lighting, costumes, movement, staging and performances all worked together to bring this dark Victorian world to life. Brendan Reimer, portraying both Dr. Henry Jekyll and Edward Hyde, was fascinating to watch. I have loved the story of Jekyll and Hyde since childhood, so watching one actor bring both sides of this character to life right in front of me was something I will remember for a long time. After the show, I had the opportunity to meet Brendan. After watching him portray so much darkness and conflict onstage, I found him to be kind, sincere and gracious. That conversation was a wonderful ending to an already remarkable evening. And I have to mention Poole! After a lifetime of being fascinated with Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, somehow Poole became my favorite character of the night. I definitely didn't see that coming! To Michael, Brendan, the entire cast, musicians, lighting and sound teams, designers, technicians, volunteers and everyone working behind the scenes, thank you for reminding me why I love theatre. From Les Misérables in Honolulu to Jekyll & Hyde in Grand Prairie, some performances simply stay with you. Five stars from me. What an unforgettable night. Upright had a production camp for her age range, the time of summer that worked for us & price range we had been looking for! She ended up loving the camp! The director of the camp was very communicative, shared pictures, and did an amazing job making the production happen in the 2 weeks that the kids had with the camp. I really liked the program they used to communicate with parents, shared the music files so we had it at home so they could practice, and what the needs they had for costuming. My oldest very much looks forward to taking a class in the fall & possibly auditioning for parts in future productions they have. She has also had an interest in behind the scenes aspects so it will be awesome to see how this theater grows and what classes they offer in the future!

Amazing experience!…read more We saw a concert last night at Arlington Music Hall. This was our first time here. TICKETING We found the concerts we wanted to see on the Arlington Music Hall's website. Then we initiated our purchases online through their ticketing agent - Eventbrite. We got a confirmation via email from Eventbrite. TICKET SAVING We downloaded the Eventbrite app and were able to download our tickets into our Apple Wallets on our iPhones. Perfect! PARKING There is free street parking in front of and around the corner from the venue. There is a lot and ramps within a block or two that are also free. Winning! DOORs vs SHOW Our show start time was 8pm. Doors for this show opened at 6:00. We were not able to go into the theater portion of the facility until 7:30. We arrived around 7:00. LOBBY, BAR, SNACK BAR There were staff members in the lobby scanning tickets for entry and that went fast. You may stand in the lobby area to wait for the theater doors to open, but the space there is limited. Behind the lobby is the Bar and Snack Bar area. There are a number of small, round high-top tables to stand at and there are cushioned bench seats along two long walls to sit on. The Bar also has some tall chairs for customer use. We didn't buy any cocktails, so no idea on the cost but I've read that its reasonable. The Snack Bar has water, beer, soft drinks, candy, popcorn, hot dogs, nachos, bbq sandwiches and such. And the pricing is very reasonable vs any other live music venue I've been too. RESTROOMS The restrooms are located near the bar/snack bar. I found the men's room to be clean, have a number or urinals and stalls. Very functional. THEATER GENERAL The Theater has two entry doors, so two long aisles from back to front. The sound and light boards are located between the aisles at the back of the theater (between the entry doors). About 2/3 the way towards the stage, there is an aisle going across the theater connecting the two long aisles. There is a balcony. Unsure if/when it is used, how many seats it has or how to access it. STAGE The stage is quite large in width and depth. It has a very high ceiling which likely easily accommodates tall backdrop set pieces and curtains. SOUND I saw short linear array speakers hanging from the ceiling in front of the stage. There may have been some subwoofer modules on stage behind curtains - unsure. The sound was quite adequate for this space. Note too that the walls seems to be concrete or stucco, so pretty reflective of sound. The sound team seemed to do a great job of managing levels and EQs. LIGHTING There are various uplighting on stage, downlighting above stage, lighting at the ceiling maybe 40 feet out from stage plus spot lights, likely up near the balcony. Lighting was well done and that team was responsive to the entertainers needs as he called out from stage a couple of times. SEATING / AISLE DEPTH Wow the seating was really comfortable. Cushy and wide and with cup holders in each of the arm rests. The aisle depth at your feet was enough that people could pass by you without the need for you to stand or leave your row. CONCLUSION We been to a lot of theaters around the country. This one is quite comfortable. More so that many we've been too. We have two more shows booked to see here. Looking forward to coming back.

It is toxic and corrupt. I ask that you please pray for them. Thank you. -------------------------- I was a part of this organization for 7 years. So let's start with the GOOD qualities... * 1. If you want to be a "triple threat" (one who has experience with acting, dance, and vocal training), this is an ok place to start. You will learn the very basics of all three. Having this training will look great on any performer's resume... * 2. A chance to perform in front of an audience. It's always good to have stage experience. It helps you to grow as a performer.... Now... let's get to the BAD qualities... * 1. None of the teachers have special training in the arts. Many of them just grew up within the organization, starting out as students and then working their way up to leadership positions. So if you want to be taught by a professional performer with a degree, you're not going to find it here... * 2. YOU WILL SPEND A POOP LOAD OF MONEY. YOU HAVE TO PAY FOR EVERYTHING. NOT JUST THE CLASSES.. SHOW CLOTHES, TRAVELING, "PRODUCTION FEES" (even as a paid WORKER I had to pay the "production fee" of $100.) It makes you wonder where all the money is going... * 3. The music material is overdone. They choose to perform to the same music every season. They might add two new songs, but the rest are embarrassingly outdated... * 4. CPAC use to have a teacher that taught multiple forms of dance. But unfortunately, she has since left the company, so now the only form of dance they teach is "show choir". And to be honest, it gets old very fast... * 5. The choir's performing apparel is god awful. The outfits are absolutely horrendous... * 6. The way the director treats her employees.. here's my own personal experience.. I was definitely taken advantage of while working for this company. I started officially teaching there when I was 16, and since it was my first job, I had no idea what I should have been getting paid. I was a performing arts teacher there and top performer in the company's professional band for about 4 years. I also did some directing and stage managing for many of the shows. I worked way over 40 hours if you include teaching multiple classes throughout the week, band rehearsal, class rehearsals, and performances... All of that... And I was only getting paid $300 a month......... a MONTH..... FOR ALL THAT WORK... it was a learning experience for me when it comes to performing, but also when it comes to being screwed over.... On top of all that, I had to pay for the show clothes, fancy makeup, traveling expenses, etc... *** So here's my final word. Basically, feel free to take classes there for a year maybe, just to learn the basics of performing. Plus it looks good on an acting resume. But don't stay there too long! It will take over your entire schedule! It keeps you busy beyond belief!! It's only good for a short amount of time. Then you have to move on and take classes elsewhere. Keep adding to your resume and grow in the performing arts. Don't let anyone stunt your growth as a performer. Keep moving forward to bigger and better things.

I loved Jesus and was young in my faith. I had a passion for performing arts and wanted to use my passions for Jesus. At first I LOVED IT. The teachers were fun and kind. All my closest friends were there. The director seemed a bit tough and critical at times, but she was a leader so she must have a good reason for making kids cry and feel bad about themselves. But by the time I was 13 I started realizing something was TERRIBLY wrong. I was asked to be a teacher (at THIRTEEN) and apart of their professional group UNITY. I was asked to go to online school so I could dedicate all my time there. Soon I was in meetings with the director Marcia Hall almost daily. She would spend that time criticizing every member of the group in front of one another. She would scream, name call, gaslight, and manipulate. This woman's Motto was "my way or the highway". If anyone disagreed they were thrown out and blamed for being terrible Christians. She controlled every aspect of my life (what to wear, say, think, believe, post). I remember being told I couldn't talk to anyone who decided to leave or be friends with them anymore. She constantly was talking trash about the parents and telling us how they didn't know how to raise their OWN KIDS, so she had to teach them what was right. She hid behind the Bible and used it to shame, scare, and control. I remember Bible study after Bible study with her where she used the Bible to show me why I was a sinner and needed to be better. I received no grace from her. I was promised I would be paid when I was 16. By that time I was working 40 hours a week and paid 100 a month IF she remembered. If anyone questioned why they hadn't received a paycheck she would call them greedy. I felt like I couldn't leave because she would guilt us into staying and say terrible things about kids that chose to go. I left at age 17 because God spoke clearly to me that this was not who He was. He wasn't legalistic... he was full of grace and love. So I have Marcia to thank for showing me what poor leadership looks like. God used this experience to deepen my love for and understanding of Him. I'm currently getting my bachelors in worship leadership and am considering getting my masters. I suppose Marcia could call me lazy... but it's just not the truth. I gave her 8 dedicated years of my life. Blood, sweat, tears, MONEY, and years of endured abuse. But I learned better, realized what spiritual and emotional abuse looks like (I guess that's just "hard work" to her) and I left. I guess she's mad about me deciding I needed healthy boundaries. Look up narcissist... that's her. I write this review with the heart and intention to protect these little ones as God commands us to do. I pray God would show her how she's hurt hundreds of kids and change her heart. But until that happens do not send your kids here. Only the 4yo didn't enjoy all the pirate themed stuff as much because she's more timid and also missed her nap so she was tired. It was a bit chilly inside the tent (bc the outdoor temp was around 45 degrees) so I'd definitely recommend bringing a jacket if you're going in cold weather. I'd also recommend bringing your own water and snacks, but they have snacks and drinks available for sale as well. Very entertaining- total performance lasted 2 hours (including an intermission).

Again, I have personally performed at this venue several times, so I show some bias. However, for a theatre with limited means (poor city funding, low donations in a down market), the compensate with casting excellent talent (both on stage and off) and producing solid shows. There are only about 80 seats, so a subscriptions is a good idea, so you get reserved seating in the center section.
