Unbelievable. Wife and I were staying in Wells, and after doing some research we knew we needed to try the subs at Bennett's Store. BEST SUBS WE HAVE EVER HAD. First, the bread; they make their own. I had a 15 minute drive back to Wells with the subs and not a single millimeter was soggy by the time I sat down to eat. Incredible. Second, the fixins. We got a large steak combo sub and a large chicken fajita sub so we could both have half. Extra cheese on both. I was blown away with every bite. If I could only get one sub, I'd get steak all day, but man, they were both incredible. It seems so simple, but I feel like most sub shops still don't get it. When you use the proper bread, high quality fresh ingredients, and great seasoning to make a sub...SHAZAM! We will be back again and again, and dare I say it, might even plan a vacation in Kennebunk strictly so we can go to Bennett's again. read more

When staying in Maine I was just a few blocks from this place. Visited a couple times because their sandwiches are great. I loved the lobster roll and also the famous steak combo sub. Only I would seek out a cheesesteak in New England and I'm gonna be honest Bennett's advertised it right on the big sign outside in the parking lot so I knew what had to be done. We all ordered different things and everyone was pretty happy but let's get to the cheesesteak. Average price, good serving size, little onions and cheese. I give the steak a 3.5 especially considering it's NE and consistency, it needed more cheese it was almost nonexistent IMO. Admittedly, I haven't been eating lobster rolls my whole life, but I have had my fair share. Bennett's rolls are VERY impressive. For 16 bucks you get a large (large for a lobster roll) roll of mostly claw meat, lettuce, mayo or butter, on really flavorful italian bread. My group of friends and I stumbled upon Bennett's on our way back from the beach and we went back on our last day since we were craving the lobster goodness. Bennett's is definitely worth a try! Oh and they have a really nice selection of soda/pop that is made in-house, including cream soda, root beer, grape soda, etc. Really tasty stuff. read more

This place is Amazing! Its a very casual, great to bring kids or just grab the best sandwiches ever for the Beach or a rainy day. As soon as I get into Kennebunk I always have to get a cheesesteak at Bennetts. They are truly the BEST! I have also had the lobster rolls which are equally amazing! The staff is so friendly, seems to be locally owned and operated. The staff is made up of what seems to be local teens which I think is so nice. Everyone is so friendly....it does get crowded and busy but that just tells you how good it is! I crave theses sandwiches all year! So friggin good! I love this sandwich shop! They make good cold and hot sandwiches! I have never had a Philly chicken steak sandwich before and tried a bite of my boyfriends, I was in shock by how good it was! I tried the tuna fish sandwich and found my new favorite tuna! They pack in so much tuna as well which makes it a good bang for your buck! I have a habit of getting the turkey sandwich as well and it's very good too! Okay, I live here in the Port year round and this was my first experience at Bennett's! Was told great things about it! I love the meatballs and the sauce but the sub roll it was given in was awful... it was not toasted but almost to the point it was taken out of the oven too soon and was so doughy... hopefully the roll situation can be figured out so the entire sandwich is enjoyable! Well, this place has some exceptional Italians! They will fill you up, the small is huge and the large is just unreal. The people who own it have no fear of advertising their love of Larry Bird everywhere. Their ordering process is fairly unique, you simply tell one of the many high school aged employees which sandwich you want and how you want it, why write it down and waste the paper? They haven't messed up one of my sandwiches yet! The bread is great, the ingredients are fresh and although there aren't an overwhelming number of options for veggies, they do have hot relish which makes for a great Italian in my opinion. Let me start off by saying that being a northern New Jersey native and 5 year deli veteran entails a good sense for exceptional sandwiches. We opted for a lobster roll (cause Maine lol) and a classic Italian with everything on it. The lobster was OK but not worth $20. It was very petite and not as flavorful as other rolls in the area. The Italian on the other hand was fantastic. That is, besides the ghastly undercooked doughy pale white bread that's used here. IDK if it's a New England thing or what but dear god this bread was the most doughy white thing I have ever encountered. And sorry to say, but a good Italian hero NEEDS a tan (completely baked) bread, dare I say HARD CRUST? Anyway, the service was great-very friendly, and I would come back here. But, for the love of God and all that is holy... If you're reading this and you work here, consider new bread for your delicious subs. This is the best sandwich shop I have been to in a long time. it is basic but great! The freshest, softest bread you will ever find in a sandwich shop. Although the ordering system (not writing down your request) may frustrate some, it is worth every last bite!!!!! A great place to get food for a picnic, the beach, or a drive. Finally, my kids love it too! You go Charlie! Went to Bennett's again and again it was incredible! Tried some different options this time with Meatball and Chicken Fajita. Both were awesome! Pleasantly surprised by this place! I got the lobster roll and it was a delicious twist on the more "traditional" lobster rolls we're used to. They used mayo & lettuce (which I liked, filled up the sandwich a little more) and TONS of fresh, quality lobster. My husband got the seafood salad and that thing was ENORMOUS!
