    House bento Dynamite roll
    Sierra J.

Last minute decision to get sushi so ordered the house bento and dynamite roll. Was told to come right away and I live close so it was t ready, had to wait 5-10 minutes. Service was pleasant and looking at others orders at the table, was anticipating my dinner. It was a big spread of food and tasted delish! Really liked the chicken karage and dynamite roll but it all tasted good. The only critique would be that that sweet potato tempura was a bit undercooked. Will definitely be ordering here again!

Negitoro maki roll. Looks a bit small.

Service is good, the server advised me to sit further in as it will be hotter near the entrance due to the sunlight streaming in. That is an appreciated advice, especially for the hot summer weather here. I decided on the sashimi lunch bento, as well as a negitoro maki roll as I was hungry and thought the bento portion may be quite the typical size. I was wrong. The bento did not come in the usual bento box. Instead the items were served separately. The sashimi came separately on a plate. Pretty fresh and of a decent size. Miso soup was normal. The main plate was huge, with a generous serving of tempura (very nicely done, and not oily), beef teriyaki and salad with rice. The negitoro maki roll was comparatively puny. It was ok, but not something memorable. I found it surprising that more people came in after 2 pm as the restaurant closed at 3 pm for the mid afternoon break before opening again for the dinner rush. They have a substantial menu with a good mix of sushi, sashimi and the noodle, rice and cooked items. A recommended place for Japanese food in Aldergrove.

The sushi was very good. Just a like 15 min from home. The black rice sushi was different. I would go back..cheaper with USA $$

    Excellent agedashi tofu.

My favourite sushi place in the Fraser Valley. Straightforward, fresh and fairly priced. Excellent service every time. I normally have the sashimi plate with a side of fried tofu.

    Veggie and avocado rolls.

The food: I ordered miso soup, green salad, avocado roll, and a veggie roll. The miso soup was great, plenty of tofu and green onions. Then my sushi came, and though the portions were huge, the rice was really warm, and the rolls fell apart easily. I didn't detect any vinegar in the sushi rice at all. The avocado was just a slice of avocado, without any real attention to texture. As you can tell, I eat a lot of sushi in the area. I'm not a novice who just went for her first sushi. Now, the green salad. I wondered for a long time where it was. I figured they'd forgotten it because I'd had my sushi plate cleared away a long time, and was feeling kind of sick from the warm sushi. They served this skinny plate with no room to really dig in, and it was well after I was at all hungry. They apologized that they forgot the salad, but didnt give me the option to reject it before billing me. I ate one bite after checking that the orange in the dressing was not roe, but ground carrot. I prefer more of a ginger base, and the bite I had was bitter. Oh well. The place: great seating, and a nice feel inside. The service: pretty decent for a bustling after church rush. I prefer Kami, the tiny sushi joint over by Save-On. Won't be back, sorry.

Great variety when you get the box meals. My husband and I share it. I wish they would serve more of their Miso soup.

A decent sushi establishment in the middle of no where. The only reason I came here when I was on…read moremy vacation was because I was craving for sushi, HEAVILY. The restaurant wasn't that bad compared to the Vancouver places. It is Korean owned, and very similar to most corner sushi joints in Vancouver. This place seems to be busy with people from the local area and many people come in and our of the place. Me and my friends had very different sushi dishes. We each ordered a special roll and just shared with each other. I ordered the Sakura Blossom, my friend ordered the Philadelphia, and my other friend ordered the Alien roll. Each of them was different and very special. I am not surprised the the Sakura Blossom and the Philadelphia taste like similar rolls of a very popular place in Vancouver *COUGHSUSHIGARDENCOUGH*. The alien roll was the most weird roll of them all, as the chef placed a deep fried prawn head on top of the roll to depict it as an alien... The skin that was placed on the alien roll was charred and the taste of it was disgusting. They burnt it too much so it left a really weird taste in the mouth. The Sakura blossom was delicious, but the cream cheese was really not needed, just place a piece of cut fish it would have been tastier. The Philadelphia, typical cream cheese with the same fillings of a california roll, and topped off with different cuts of raw fish on the top. I can say this place is mediocre, but it is not 100% authentic Japanese. But it is the closest you can get when you want a sushi craving... :P

Menu: Chawan mushi - steamed egg custard with vegetable(bean, shimeji mushroom) and seafood(shrimp and slice of fish) Ankimo - Monkfish Liver with seasonal seafood(scallop and shrimp) Grilled black cod, with saikyo miso and marinated blue fin tuna and cooked egg. Tenpura - seafood (slice of fish, seafood stuffed vegetable and vegetable(shiitake) 9 pieces of sushi Daily miso soup - clam Dessert - kinako and mitarashi dango Chawan mushi was great. I can taste fish based broth and egg custard was very silky and smooth. Decent amount of ingredients sush as shrimp, slice of fish , bean and shimeji mushroom. I wish they served it slightly cooler than too hot. Ankimo - Great item. Monkfish liver was rich and paired with scallop and shrimp so well. Sauce was just ok. Grilled black cod was another great item. Crispy and juicy, just perfectly done. Blue fine tuna was covered by salty marinated sauce which was great when wrapped with seaweed. Cooked egg was just ok Tenpura - Seafood stuffed vegetable was my favorite. Others were also decent. Highlight and stand out item was 9 pieces of sushi. Honmaguro(bluefine tuna) was good. Shari(sushi rice) was nicely seasoned with vinegar, very mild and which I liked it. Tuna was delicious. Sea breem(MADAI) was another good piece. Delicious. Aburi Toro was nicely seared. I wish this item could be a bit more softer and buttery, but it was still good. Akaebi(red shrimp) and Hokkaido sea urchin - Lightly torched the top of sea urchin and its smokiness brought out more sweetness flavor of Akaebi(red shrimp) Hokkaido Scallop - Very smooth, soft and nice texture. Delicious. Kinmedai(Gold eye snapper) -- My favorite. Texture was very soft and chewy, It was great item. Hokkaido sea urchin - Actually, this one was just ok. I wish it could be more creamy. Unagi - One of the best item. It was so fluffy and soft right after chef cooked and served. This is a must try item. Daily miso soup with clam - I can taste fish broth (dashi) flavor so well. Clam was delicious. It was good. Dessert - Kinako coated mitarashi dango -It was nicely chewy and soft. I wish there were more sauce on it. Overall, it worth visiting this place. The only problem is that so hard to get a reservation. Hopefully, I can get next reservation, may be next year.

We love Japanese cuisine so I decided to surprise the hubby with an omakase for his birthday in January. Unfortunately, they have a 6-month wait and I was not prepared so I ended up booking it for our anniversary in May. The food was phenomenal and delicious! I love the chawanmushi loaded with goodies inside. The ankimo (monkfish liver) dish was so tasty with the scallop and prawn. Black cod was cooked to perfection! The nigiris are all so fresh. We quickly put ourselves on the waiting list for after September so we can come here again soon! There's a parking lot just next door. The place inside is small and intimate. Service is great!
