I decided to give Benjamin's another try and I'm so glad I did! I got the seasonal butternut squash ravioli which was DELICIOUS! The sauce was sweet and buttery and paired with pine nuts. It went so well with the ravioli! I forget which cocktail I had to drink but I really enjoyed that as well. My friends also got the butternut squash ravioli as well as a sweet potato salad, and really enjoyed their dishes as well! Service was fast and our waiter was very nice. I sat in the bar area this time as opposed to the main restaurant area (which is more formal) and liked the vibe much better in the bar area. Definitely loved my experience here much more the second time around!

    SO much tasteless batter!!!

I got the beer battered fish tacos and do not recommend them. A single giant piece of fish buried in 2 inches of bland batter set into a tortilla shell. I peeled the batter off and was able to eat it. Waitress seemed to forget about us. I do not recommend either the food or the service.

Even their menu says they aren't responsible for well done food...

It's a little bit pricey, but the food is very delicious and it's one of the nicer/fancier spots to go in town.

This one is a nice go-to and we were impressed with our first experience. It has a modern, up-to-date feel and a lot of space between tables. Our waitress was attentive, though couldn't personally recommend a cocktail because they can't drink there(?) I think it's good to have the wait staff sample the drinks and entrees. That way they can describe a flavor or recommend something based on the someone's individual tastes. The food was great. I got the fish and chips and my girlfriend got a burger. The fish filet was large and fried really well. The drinks were good, especially the margarita. We'll go back in the future.

Visiting for a…read morefriend's wedding, our group made several stops to the bar between ceremony, reception, and the next day's catered brunch. Our bartender was great, able to handle large groups and incredibly patient for the long hours he seemingly worked. [He served us during intermittent visits between three in the afternoon and three in the morning. Hope he gets some overtime]. I first ordered a Negroni, which the bartender mixed with Aperol. This sin probably lies on me, as I did not notice the bar did not carry Campari. I quickly switched to a gin martini which helped me overcome the error in judgment. As a group, we didn't order much in terms of food, but the sweet potato fries were a highlight item. The bartender brought us extra sauces for dipping alongside the 'brown sugar aioli'--not an 'aioli' but delicious trumps nomenclature, I suppose. Our excitement for the late night return was curbed by the kitchen's closure. The bar did a great job keeping the party lubricated with alcohol and handled an influx of guests when a second wedding party sharing the hotel arrived for a whiskey-fueled raucous. The next morning's service--first we experienced with a new staff--was disheveled (not unlike our group) and the bar was unprepared to mix hangover-staying Bloody Marys. The bar does not open at the same time as brunch begins, so we were seated at a table while we waited for the beverages. The drinks were almost certainly made with a pre-packaged Bloody mix and somehow took nearly twenty minutes to prepare. The breakfast cocktail, the staple of a hotel restaurant's bar fare, was a big disappointment. Expectations at a hotel restaurant and bar should always be middling, and our experience at RBG fell within our expectations.

First thing that struck me was how much brighter and cleaner and better decorated it is than the one by our house and for that matter most of the other locations I've visited. Granted this one is maybe a year or so old. On this visit I decided to get the Oven Baked Italian Crostini. I've had it numerous times before and I find it to be decent sandwich. I however swap out the dressing they always put on it and will use balsamic glaze if I'm at home or if eating in, I'll ask for a side of balsamic salad dressing. The sandwich is a pretty cheap option and comes with a mound of fries. We visited in a Saturday and so I chose the daily special tall pour of IC Light. I thought everything was decent. Seemed a bit better than the one by our house. My wife ordered her go to which is the cheesesteak bomb. It's a huge sandwich that also comes with a mound of fries. Recently we've been disappointed when we've ordered them as the meat has had some gristly pieces in it which kind of makes us stop eating. But she gave it another try and thankfully had none of the gristle in this one. The restaurant was not very busy do a Saturday afternoon, perhaps because of inclement weather expected and it was the last day for students at IUP before winter break. Despite the place being fairly empty, the service was lacking a little. In summary; newer and cleaner location, food a little better, service fair.

When you are…read moremissing something that is a Pittsburgh/Western Pennsylvanian staple, you kind of go hard and jam as much of your favorites in during a visit. First, let me get this out of the way. They appear to currently be going through a remodel. Which means that this place doesn't look all that great aesthetically. There are noticeable things missing (booths) and you can see progress being made (paint) but they are nowhere near completion and it made for an odd experience. With that out of the way, let's get to the food and service. When we walked in we were greeted...I think...and led to a table. I think this because when we came in no one was at the host stand, so I took this opportunity to use the facilities and wash my hands. When I came out, my Dad and brother were gone and no one was at the host stand yet again. I just decided to walk into the restaurant until I found them. We were seated at a table and left to look over the menu. It felt like it was forever before our server showed up at our table. By this point we already knew what we were going to get. But she only took our drink orders and disappeared again. Finally returning with our drinks we placed our orders. Now, if you know, you know, you have to do the salad bar here, add it onto your meal and be happy with that decision. I had ordered the Shredded Pot Roast Sandwich with mashed potatoes as my side (gravy over everything) and upped my second side to be the salad bar. Our server disappeared again and left us to hit the salad bar. I felt like the salad bar was lacking variety during our visit. There was enough there to make a decent salad, but not enough to make an amazing salad. I circled the bar a few times as items would be on one side or the other and reaching across just isn't a smart thing to do. A big bummer to me was that we weren't here on their potato soup day, by far the most superior of their soups. We dug into our salads and I made one more trip to the salad bar before my food arrived. Not for another salad, but kind of an unofficial side for my main course. I dug into that meal and savored every bite. Who knew the next time I would be back to one of these locations as they aren't a national chain. With that notion in my head I knew I wanted dessert. I had to get their Grilled Stickies a la Mode. Our server, who disappeared a lot, just happened to show up and ask that 'save room for dessert' question they always sneak in there. I said absolutely and ordered the aforementioned dessert. We sat there for a while and waited. My brother going back to the salad bar a few times for fruit and the bar's selection of desserts. About five minutes go by, then maybe ten, and my dessert is nowhere to be seen. Finally the server showed up and had to apologize since the kitchen never put it on to be made. She went into the kitchen and came back out with it. It was a bit of a disappointment as you can tell it was put together rather fast after forgetting about it. It looked sloppy, and was lacking enough of the syrup/sauce, what sauce was on the plate covered the ice cream and hardened before getting to the grilled stickies. It still hit, I just had to be sparing with bites to get the ratio of sauce to bite right. Oh, nostalgia, you have been fed for a bit. Hopefully if I ever come back to this location they will fully be through the remodel and have enough staff to make this a smoother experience.
