Didn't realize this restaurant was inside the hotel that's on the IUP campus. Our hotel room came with breakfast included. Unlike most hotels with a continental buffet of generic hot and cold foods... We were able to order off the menu. The food was tasty. Pretty generic menu... But... The highlight was our server. She was fantastic, great conversations, time of day, appropriate... And tons of humor. Would highly recommend checking it out, at least if you're at the Hilton Garden Inn... May even be worth coming over for a cocktail at the bar... Wish we had checked it out the night before. read more

Ehhhh...brisket fries was a bit salty and stringy...I ordered a medium steak, but it had no taste. It taste like they dropped the raw meat on the grill and that's it. No seasoning !!! It just taste like raw meat and it smelled like raw meat. The worst steak I ever had. The only thing I enjoyed was the spirit free drinks. It was really good ! Breakfast was all good except they used frozen spinach instead of fresh, literally ruined the omelette. No comp. For Dinner I had the beet salad with salmon and a draft beer. I had to send the first one back due to unsanitary lines, the second try was over due for a cleaning as well but at this point I just wanted a beer. The salad was fresh but lacked the feta, maybe a 1/4 teaspoon on the whole undersized dinner salad. Salmon was cooked perfect, but should not have taken 30 minutes to come out for a party of 1. From seating to bill I was here for almost 2 hours. Eat here if you're staying at the Hilton garden inn, otherwise don't waste a trip. read more

What a difference a few days makes! I thought I'd try a different menu item to give the food a second chance, and this was not the night. I ordered a Mac and cheese with a brisket, and while the pasta was nice the brisket was a fatty, soggy mess, much like me after running a few miles. This time, though, the service didn't step up, after waiting in vain for 20 minutes for even a drink refill I ended up walking up to the bar to pay my bill just to leave. The bartender told my server, who ran food out to other tables before getting my bill and informing me the credit card machines were down. Not a terrible inconvenience, mind, but that's good information to have when seating. All in all an unpleasant experience I will not be repeating (shame on me). This restaurant is in the lobby of the Hilton Garden Inn so it's at least convenient if you're staying there. The food is just ok. Pretty hit or miss with the service, one of the servers was absolutely wonderful but the others were very lacking and it was pretty bad then (didn't know the difference between the beers on tap/ that an IPA was considered "hoppy" and forgot to put the breakfast order in the next day and we sat there for over an hour waiting on scrambled eggs and toast). I was only in town briefly for a funeral so I didn't get to see or do much but I am sure there are better places to eat than here. read more

Of course I love this place! I have been staying here on and off for 3 years. The breakfast through the week is to die for! The chef is my favorite breakfast chef of all time. My friend and I stopped in for dinner. She ordered a chicken sandwich; I ordered a burger - medium. An HOUR later, our food came. The burger was so overcooked, you could bang it against the table. Called the waitress over and she said, "I'm sorry, I will take it off you bill." Then left. No offer to replace it or make me something else. My friend ate her sandwich, which she said was very underwhelming. A manager never came over. I went to Wendy's drive through on the way home. My husband and I stayed at the Hilton Garden Inn for a night, back in 2020. The Kitchen staff and servers were friendly enough. We only ate breakfast there the morning we were leaving. Which was pretty good. Simple breakfast, set up was nice. We were actually the only ones in there for breakfast at the time, so it was pretty quiet and relaxing. Did not feel rushed. read more

My hats off to the chef!! Prepared an excellent salmon dish that is compliant with the Whole30 program that I am currently following. The salmon was prepared perfectly, and the cauliflower puree was substituted with delicious sautéed sweet potatoe. The kale/arugula salad is a great finish to the plate accompanied with ginger carrots. From the farm to the table, the dishes all look amazing. Glad to know there are so many healthy and delicious options. Currently not being able to eat/conusme legumes, dairy, grain, alchohol or soy-based products is very challenging. I'm very appreciative of the chef's efforts in preparing this wonderful dish. The next time I dine here, I'm sure I'll have the cauli puree! read more

I was ignored at the hostess stand for quite a while, seated by the window and ignored by my waiter, my order was lost and when it did come out, it was undercooked. I ate it anyway because I was starving by then. Fingers crossed I don't get food poisoning! The salad ingredients were fresh and the drink strong - both good things. We were pleasantly surprised by this restaurant inside the Hilton Garden Inn in Indiana,PA. I have eaten at other HGI restaurants and they were pretty bad. My dining companion got the Appalachian meatloaf and he said it was delicious. I had the pan roasted half chicken and it was perfection. The sides were also very fresh and plentiful. The portions were rather big and neither of us could finish. Great place to eat if you are visiting iUP and don't know where to get a nice meal. read more

Wonderful food and great service! We ordered some small plates to share. Chipolte gorgonzola deviled eggs 1st...was spicy! I enjoyed them but probably wouldn't get again. Crimson cauliflower also had some kick with the scorpion salt...we both would order again. Sautéed calamari were delicious and I loved the 'tomato broth' although this dish was also spicy...seemed to be our unintended theme of the evening... we asked for more toasted french bread because it was so good! I also had a roasted beet and goat cheese salad that lended a cooling balance to the spicy dishes. To finish, I had the condensed melon dessert. This was by far my favorite dish of the evening! The melon was so refreshing and the perfect note of sweetness. Some crunchy granola also seemed the perfect addition to the dish. I was delighted with the meal and I am looking forward to returning! Don't be fooled .....just because it's inside a hotel it's not like standard hotel food at all. Charcuterie, braised short ribs, catch is the day, handmade pastas. It's one of those menus that you want to try several things because they look so good. The signature drinks were very nice. The poutine!!! Oh, that was second to none. The charcuterie was a nice surprise with unique additions of the pricked veggies, gourmet mustards and great meats and cheeses. The ribs were so flavorful and tender and the polenta was perfect. Stayed at hotel. Ate dinner. It's was okay. Took a while but not too bad. As for breakfast, whole different story. The fact that this hotel doesn't have a continental breakfast for free is ridiculous. If you want to charge for a full breakfast that's fine, but charging $8.95 for what should be free is a deal breaker for me. Then we pay for the full breakfast $11.95 and don't even get real eggs. This place has set a new standard in bad service. We are staying in the hotel and visited the restaurant for both dinner/drinks and breakfast the next morning. Both times, the waitstaff appeared to be wandering aimlessly. Drink orders took an average of 20 minutes to be filled even while sitting at the bar, and the food was clearly microwaved. For breakfast, we had to ask the waitress repeatedly for service and even then, 25 minutes for an omelet is unacceptable. Most of our party was done with their like warm breakfast buffet before the entree arrived. If that waiting wasn't enough, don't worry, you get to wait plenty more for your check to arrive. I would be shocked if there weren't plenty of dine-and-dashers on this relatively slow morning. Enjoy your stay at the Hilton! read more

She had the daily fish special, a mahi mahi served with couscous cooked with an avocado puree, with grilled tomatoes and pork belly. I stay at Hilton Garden Inns from the west coast to east coast and this restaurant is in the top few that I've been in. It's not the standard hotel restaurant food. I'm not sure if the IUP Culinary Arts program has influence on the menu but it would be great to market it as such if it's true. It brings a unique twist of local food with an upper / big city feel. While visiting my daughter at IUP over Easter, my family ate here for an Easter Brunch. The food was your typical lukewarm buffet food. Nothing special except for their desserts. They were amazing! The worst part, however, was the service. Was told how to find our table and there "should be water on the table, if not a server would be over soon". Well, an hour and a half later, no one even glanced our way. We were completely ignored. I had to ask one of the hosts how to get our check. Horrible service, never asked if we wanted something to drink that wasn't part of the buffet (we would have liked juice or hot tea or even something from the bar). One time I went and the waitress completely ignored us the whole time and it took over an hour for us to receive our food. Just found out about this place while staying at the new Hilton and I'm so glad I did. Incredible food!! I had the prime rib and the flavors that I experienced were other worldly. I guess it's from the aging of the beef, it turned it to a new level. So happy this place is in Indiana. Wasn't crazy expensive for the quality either. Can't wait to go back. read more
