Went to have dinner with two of my friends. All of us are from New Jersey visiting our one friend that goes to IUP. Ordered drinks and handed them our ID (we are all 21). Little college bar and grille. Tried it while moving my son out of college for the year. It was suggested by a coworker who grew up in the area. Place was packed with college kids when I arrived. I was seated fairly quickly at a high top. Somewhat large tap list, although nothing really stood out to my taste, I need to remember that their biggest customer base is college kids so I understand their choices. Large menu, I ask the server what she would order as there was so much to choose from. She suggested the cheesesteak and I obliged. The cheesesteak was okay, the roll to me was the disappointment. I was expecting a little chewiness or crunch like a true cheesesteak, but found this soft instead. When my coworker asked how I liked it I shared my thoughts and he said I should have gone for a pizza as they've been making good pizza forever there. Next semester I'll try it. read more

When I first arrived at Brunzies, it was a busy Friday evening. We were seated right away and our waitress was very polite. We waited a good 25-30 minutes to get our food, I wasn't upset about the wait since it was a busy Friday afternoon- we ate our food and it was delicious, a few minutes later the owner came up to us apologizing for the delay on our food, I said it was completely fine and I understand- he then said our tab was covered due to the long wait and offered if we wanted anything else. I was full from my burger but it was a generous offer. I would recommend Brunzies- they know how to make things right and I greatly appreciate that! read more

Food and drinks are good here but service could be better. The bartender we had was rude to our group which was very off putting. Once we got seated at a table though we ended up having a better time. I got the kickin' chicken flatbread and the blueberry peach mule. The mule was delicious as well as the flatbread! A great little restaurant in the mountains of Pennsylvania. It's a hop and a skip from Indiana University of Pennsylvania. I found myself searching anxiously for something edible and yelp helped guide the way. The parking lot was being paved and I ended up parking on the street. Many people were outside eating and drinking and this was an old college town with many things to like and some I could do without. I entered pensively and left overjoyed. Everything was good from the service to the drinks. The waitress was a student at the Univ nearby and she did a great job explaining the menu and what we should and shouldn't avoid. I ended up getting the shrimp Po boy which was amazing except for the over cooked bread. The shrimp and slaw were delicious and the fries were very good. If I'm ever in the area I will stop in again. read more

The food according too my dinner date was top notch. She got the buffalo chicken sandwich and said the ranch was really good and this girl is a ranch expert. My experience however was not the same. I got a French dip however due to them putting onions on the bottom my sandwich was soggy. I would recommend toasting the bun or places the onions on top in the future. Our waitress was good service wise but her attitude however had an air of arrogance or annoyance I wasn't sure which maybe both. I was pleased with the menu options and the fact the place had a cocktail menu.....hallelujah....however I was not impressed with the actual cocktail selections. It seemed kind of one minded. My friends and I returned later that evening to meet her friends and it was so crowded you couldn't really move. In addition to the crowd that was there later .... it wasn't really my scene. Down to earth chill vibes is my scene but there appeared to be a very cold mean girls jock vibe there. Not the restaurants fault but definitely I would only frequent this place for lunch. read more

The manager "rick" is a complete TOOL! We came in as a group for Super Bowl Sunday and the experience sucked. In a Super Bowl people are looking forward to the whole experience with commercials and halftime shows, stats a everything the commentators are saying. Rick refused to let the pregame audio and halftime reports play because "he doesn't wanna hear about Tom Brady". When confronted by the clients he was completely unprofessional and arrogant. Thank you however to the amazing ladies that were bartending; Maggie, skyline and a blonde lady. Sorry you guys have to deal with rick the d*%#. Also the food was great. Just get yourselves a manager who cares for the clients and doesn't have a big ego. read more

We got sent to Brunzies as the only place in the area to grab food after 11pm on a Saturday night. I was with some friends from Seattle (and 2 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Inductees) who had just played a concert at IUP's convention center. We had first stopped at Firehouse Brewing & their bartender sent us to Brunzies since the Firehouse kitchen was already closed. We didn't realize at first that there were 2 sides to the place, one being take out beer & counter service for pizza and subs and then through a door was the actual club/bar/restaurant. Two of us ordered & ate on the quieter counter service side & the other 4 got a table on the club side. The girl at the counter was super friendly & turns out she was also from Washington state so that struck up a conversation. We ordered a sandwich with (free) fries & 2 slices of pizza, both were a great price & tasty. Soon word got out that members of a nationally touring band were in da house, and the "kids" were very polite in asking for autographs, etc. After we ate on the counter/carry out side we joined the rest of our group on the club side. We chuckled at being carded since let's just say we were probably the only people well over 35 in the place. The rest of the group had ordered beers & pizza and everyone was having a good time. Again word got out about the band & several kids (ok, young adults) asked for photos & autographs. They were all very polite & sweet & the band was happy to oblige. We were just disappointed that all these young 20 somethings had not attended or even known about the concert which had just taken place down the street. The manager came over last & the band members signed autographs, gave out guitar picks & had a nice chat with him. He ended up giving the band their pizza & beers on the house which was super nice of them. So, if you're out of town and over 35, don't be afraid to stop into Brunzies for pizza and beer on a Saturday night. Even if you're not famous I'm sure they'll still treat you right! read more

First let me say the managers are great and friendly people, I only buy alcohol from the old Subs n Suds part. Second, I am an alcoholic. I love alcohol. It all started when I was in little league and my Dad coached us and would bring a few cases of old Milwaukee's for the boys. We started out here around Halloween w another couple we were friends with. The bar atmosphere was very nice. It was great to be somewhere that didn't have a bunch of rowdy college age kids to have a drink. The food was very good. We loved the potatoes skins although the menu was not very different from Subs n Suds. Our one big complaint was the seating. The booths were so small, even the round one in the corner was uncomfortable for the four of us. A table was not an option because of the high seats. I'm short and have problems getting up on those kind of seats. The bar stools were probably ok but we had 4 of us eating. We didn't want to sit at the bar. Granted my husband and I are larger but our friends aren't and they were very uncomfortable too. My husband and I often sit in booths in other restaurants comfortably. We won't be back unless you get some normal height tables. It kind of saddens me because I did like the place but everyone in our party had the same issue. read more

Brunzies is a great place to go out for burgers and drinks. If you're looking for a place with craft brew on tap, great burgers, and awesome cheesecake deserts, this is a place worth considering. Right now Trouggs chocolate stout is on tap which is amazing if you like milk stouts. Service staff was excellent and tentative. Atmosphere was a refreshing breath of what seemed to be mature adults out for dinner. No college students getting rowdy. Update: Second visit was also a great experience. I loved every bite from the Cali Cobb which had roasted corn, Avacado, crisp thick bacon bits ,fresh salad greens (cold and no wilt) it was porportioned perfect, not all greens. I had to try the house homemade Italian dressing..... my taste buds danced! The Shrimp Po Boy had a generous amount of shrimp in every bite, the perfect roll the bread held the insides of sandwich. The flavor was tangy, spices and you could taste the shrimp! Was not all breaking. Really good food, they care. Burgers are more gourmet then you'd think for a bar that caters to the college crowd. Wait staff also, just great. Again, above your average sports bar mentality for wait staff, they were on it, which when it was absolutely packed, doesn't happen that often anywhere I have been anytime lately. The drinks were good, but my only complaint is that they were just a little warmer then I would have liked. It just felt slightly off, not like I couldn't drink it, but it wasn't quite what I would have expected. Overall, I could have ordered a Jack and Coke and we'd have a 5 star review. After a couple of years around this town, part time, I found this bar and I like it. They are the only place in town that has the Impossible Burger and it's great. The bartender that served me was very nice and he recommended some things, although they were things that I could not eat because I'm a vegetarian, but he was really great. I have now ordered delivery from them and it was also on point and I appreciate the work that these folks do. I will definitely be going back again, and again. Brunzies is a sports bar/pub and we like it for the most part. The staff is always helpful and service is usually pretty quick. The drinks are good, although a little steep. Food choices are limited but burgers and fries are always good. We have been disappointed that they discontinued the stadium nachos and replaced them with the far inferior "deconstructed" nachos. Just boring. We loved the old nachos!! The atmosphere is comfortable and casual and there are always games on the many tv screens and good music.....let's go Pens! read more
