I have been doing business with Benjamin Franklin Plumbing for decades. You name the issue or service, and they have been my trusted go-to provider. My most recent experience was the installation of a new hot-water heater in April 2025, which cost $3,000. The initial installation failed the City of Allen code inspection, so the plumber had to return--and the code department had to revisit--before the installation could be approved. This morning (Saturday, July 19, 2025), I discovered I had no hot water. I climbed into the attic and found that the pilot light had gone out. I attempted to relight it myself but was unsuccessful. When I called Benjamin Franklin Plumbing, the representative I spoke with was both arrogant and dismissive. I was told I would have to wait until Monday for service. When I asked about my warranty, I was informed it had no bearing on their scheduling. I expressed my dissatisfaction with her attitude and asked to speak with her manager. The manager then agreed to make an exception and try to fit me in today. It appears that warranty work is treated as a lower priority than paid service calls. I plan to reevaluate my relationship with this company--I do not appreciate being treated with such disrespect. I'm sure there are other firms that place greater value on long-term clients. Friday morning 7/25/25 Art came out on Tuesday of this week to inspect the issue with the pilot light. He was here something like 20 minutes and spent 17 of those minutes lecturing me about attic ventilation. I found him to be something of a cross beteween passive-aggressive and pompus. I advised that I had the soffit vents relaced two years ago at a cost of about a thousand dollars. I reminded him that this new Rheem replaced another 10 year old Rheem and the pilot light in the replaced water heater was fine. Art did point out that a "fan box" would help a lot and I went out and bought a $200.00 Ryobi wind tunnel from Home Depot and put it in the attic. We had a leaky facet under the sink. We called Ben Franklin and within hours a technician was there to rescue us. My husband had tried to fix the issue but this issue was a little tricky. Alan came to our rescue was knowledgeable and kept us informed of everything he was doing and how that would fix the problem. First off I was in the plumbing business half my life. I'm old enough now that I can't do the work that I used to do so I called Benjamin Franklin plumbing. They sent a tech out named Daniel Ruiz I asked for him to call me when he got to the door and he did. I showed him the problem he diagnosed it. He showed me what the problem was. We talked about repairs. I told him to go ahead. He did an excellent job, his cleaning and making sure everything was right before he left.Cleaned up after himself. I will definitely call for Daniel again whenever I needs something that I can't do I want to think Benjamin Franklin for their courtesy and how fast they got somebody to fix my problem thank you. read more

I requested a technician to repair an outdoor leak for my eldery father. The technician showed up on time and gave us a bid to repair the issue for $2,400. The deposit was paid and work scheduled. Within 10 minutes I was called told additional work was needed and the new cost was $4,100. I declined the repair and asked for refund. No refund has been issued and I had another company come the next day and repair for a total of $850.00. If you call Ben Franklin, get a second bid. read more

A few years ago, I purchased 2 new Rheem water heaters from BF Plumbing. I paid about 50% more than other plumbers charged and I was even sold an extended warranty that includes a flush every year. We always have to call for the flush and they usually find an excuse not to come. We've had 4 service calls. One unit has been apart twice and parts replaced. The thermostats are useless. The water heats up then the unit shuts off until the water cools down to the point you think you have no hot water. Then when the unit comes on, it heats back up. The water heaters are in the attic and actually work better in the winter. The repairman says that they are energy savers and there's nothing that can be done about the cold showers. DO NOT USE THESE PEOPLE. When the warranty goes away, I'll hire someone else and see if I can find better quality product and service. read more

The service was prompt. The work was done as defined by Cory. We had no issues. Very courteous and informative.

I had an inspection of the water heaters. There were several issues. One was almost past its warranty time so we decided to change it out for a new one. Also, the previous plumber put circulating pumps on both our water heaters to lower the risk of freezing pipes during cold weather, but the flows were going the wrong direction so they needed to be either changed or taken off. We took those off. That evening, there was a slight drip that apparently activated the auto shutoff valve of the new water heater and turned off the hot water line. I put in a call that night and they responded quickly and had the repair done early in the morning. Benjamin Franklin Plumbing has good service and great plumbers who tell you straight what needs to be done and corrects any errors on their part quickly and in my case, for no charge. Arthur was great! Showed up on time and very professional. Had several plumbing issues inside and outside. Leaking bathroom faucet was the main issue. Everything was explained during the inspection and quote and possibly problems which might happen. Everything was completed- leaking bathtub faucet, outside backflow replaced, upstairs toilet ring which was causing a leak on ceiling 1st floor ceiling. I called BFP because we had a gas leak outside the house near the regulator. The technician was very professional and I think he did a good job fixing the leak. However, he charged me an arm and a leg to repair 2 gas leaks. He didn't even showed me that it was actually leaking. Leaks were fixed by simply replacing 2 short black iron pipes which I could probably buy from Lowes for less than $40.00. He spent 2 hours testing and fixing the leaks and I got charged $2445.77. He could have gave me a discount by just charging me one leak repair for $882.00 but he didn't because he said that he replaced 2 parts. I know that he is licensed to repair gas leaks and he also save people from potential fires/death from gas leaks/explosion but at the same time he also kills people like me because he overcharged me. BAD and a rip off Solved a leak for 2,800 and caused more damage over 5k and the manager asks if i want to finance it. When you do not inform customers about the potential impact it can have then you are not doing a good job. Capped a pipe on one end and forgot I had a washer on the other so now I have a 5k quote to add a new line. NOT GOOD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The manager would not make it right and there is NO corporate Texas office for this company - I called corporate in Birmingham and they couldn't give me the number. Really? read more

Do you know what you don't want to do on a Sunday morning (especially when it's Easter? Wake up to a flooded garage!! But that was my lot in life at 4:43 am. I called the first emergency plumber I found. No answer. The second one thought they might be able to make it suppertime. Uh, did I miss speak the emergency part? The third time was the charm. Benjamin Franklin Plumbing. Spoke to a very nice lady who took all my information and told me it would probably be about an hour. Meanwhile, I could surf in the garage with all the whitecaps!! By 8:44, still no plumber. Called a nice lady back who said she would roust him out of bed. I'm not lying. He showed up about an hour later, freshly rolled out of bed. Trip charge? $285. That was to turn off the gushing water. If I wanted him to analyze where the water was coming from, another hundred. Not to fix, just to look. The estimate was for a little over 7 grand, which didn't include the scaffolding and the floor and wall repair. He wanted to dig through the cement in the garage 4 ft diameter and 5 feet deep. Then 5 feet over to where he surmised the leak to be. GASP!! With $365 of my hard-earned money in his pockets, he left. At least the water got turned off. Enter plumber #2. I called a friend and asked for a recommendation. DALWORTH PLUMBING. The owner of the company, Butch, came out, assessed the problem, and offered a solution. Didn't involve ripping through the garage and tunneling into the house. And he didn't want a penny. His estimate was less than half of Benjamin Franklin. They came out two days later to do the work and did an amazing job. On time, as promised, and under budget. A winning trio in my book. I guess this is a jeer to Benjamin Franklin and cheers to Dalworth Plumbing. read more

Contacted Benjamin Franklin Plumbing to repair a water leak the City of Lewisville told me was on my side of water meter. They came out in 2 hours. The water leak was in our alley and equivalent to a hose left fully open. They found a pin hole leak after digging down 7 feet near my retaining wall. They replaced the main water line to our house for almost $6,500. The water leak volume remained the same. City came out 6 weeks later and found a 5/16 inch hole in the city water line which they repaired. A professional plumber should have determined the major leak was not our side of the water meter. We were also told we would get a first responder discount of 15% or $1,000. Later were were told the maximum was $300 which was not detailed on their website. I would not recommend Benjamin Franklin. read more

Warning! Warning! Deceptive and unethical practices ahead! Plumber came out to replace 2 water supply valves for a washing machine that were leaking, and that were corroded, and I could not remove myself for fear of snapping them off and on a Sunday that would not have gone over well. Plumber showed up on time as promised, and I am thankful for that, note the one star. Explained over the phone to me he might have to cut wall, cut water supply line and replace valves $600. Instead, I got two wrenches, some twisting and 2 -$16 valves, which were not any different than the 2 new ones I had on hand that he told me he couldn't use. Then I tried to avoid posting this by contacting the only point of contact I had via texting just to see if there was any wiggle, and there's not. Yes, I agreed to the price which again sounded like it was going to be more labor intensive and involve more, or at least different parts. But I know all people / companies make mistakes and I judge on how you address these mistakes. Honestly $25-$50 price reduction would have been all it taken. So, whoever is reading this for BFP if you can say without a doubt what you seen in the video and know that's exactly what was done seems fair, then I guess we are done. Benjamin Franklin dispatched Nicholas to my home within an hour to fix a gas leak from the gas meter. He replaced the rotted-out pipe in the dirt, which was exposed to repeated years of weekly abuse from lawn care, and standing water, and positioned the line at the correct height about the ground. He called and kept me updated through the repair process, the city coming to inspect the repair, and having the gas turned on. I highly recommend Benjamin Franklin for any plumbing issue. read more

Jason showed up and told me it would be 900 dollars to fix the line. After draining the water the price skyrocketed to 2,700 dollars. After informing him that I couldn't pay that he became very hostile. I told him to pack up and I would pay. When I paid he kept going and I asked him not to talk to me anymore and to leave. I paid and he sat in his truck with the windows down yelling at me. He said that I wouldn't find another plumber who would do this so close to winter( it's the middle of September in Dallas). He then shouted that he would not come back. I don't have any knowledge of his skill as a plumber but Jason could be served better with customer service training. Best part was after he left I saw he had left trash. Can I bill you Benjamin Franklin for the trash to get picked up? Truly one of the worst experiences of my life. I called yesterday requesting a quote to install my kitchen faucet and water shut off valves. I had the parts. They said they could not quote without a tech coming out to survey. So the tech arrived. I told him what I had. He NEVER even looked under the cabinet nor at the parts. He got his tablet and quoted $759.00 ! This was all labor! I laughed and said no thanks. I still got charged a trip charge. Why could they have not given me the price on the phone? My son in law, who is not a plumber, came over and replaced all the parts in less than 1.5 hours. The plumber probably could have done it about half that time. I contacted them with my complaints, but still word back as they do not care. So be WARY of this company! read more
