Had a fantastic experience at Benihana with my partner this last Tuesday night. Coming in 30 minutes to closing, we were unsure if we would be able to get a table and were prepared to order takeout. We were pleasantly surprised with the hospitality and fantastic service we had received on all levels. From the friendly and welcoming energy of our server Ariel to the personability of our hibachi chef Erika, the entire staff including the management was phenomenal! Erika truly seemed like she has been working as a hibachi chef her whole life the way the food was as close to perfect as could possibly be. The steak was cooked to perfection along with everything else. Even the ambiance at closing hours was still so comfortable yet energetic and alive. Truly a 10/10 experience. My boyfriend and I brought my brother and his girlfriend to Benihana to celebrate both of their birthdays, so we were really looking forward to having a fun dinner together. Our reservation was for 6:30 PM, but we weren't actually seated until around 7:45 PM, which is over an hour past our reservation time. We then waited another 25 minutes just to get our drinks, and unfortunately the service issues continued throughout the entire meal. I had specifically put in our reservation that we wanted to request Wayne, because we had him previously and absolutely loved him. We were really hoping to have him again for such a special dinner, but unfortunately our request wasn't accommodated. Our orders were repeatedly incorrect, and several people at our table didn't receive the right amount of food. The chef had to go back multiple times to get additional food because he wasn't given enough to prepare everyone's orders. By the time everything was finally sorted out, some of the food that had already been served was cold. To make matters worse, one of the birthdays we were celebrating was completely overlooked. We specifically came to celebrate both my brother and his girlfriend's birthdays, so it was really disappointing that one of them was forgotten. Our original server also disappeared halfway through the meal, and we were suddenly given a different server who had to try to figure out everything that had already gone wrong. At that point, the entire table was confused and frustrated. We did speak with management about everything that happened. We were given 50% off the bill, which I appreciate, but I honestly felt like the discount was given just to resolve the situation rather than because our concerns were genuinely acknowledged or apologized for. For the prices at Benihana, I expected a much more organized and attentive experience, especially for a birthday dinner. Between waiting over an hour past our reservation time, the incorrect orders, cold food, forgotten birthday, and lack of communication, this was a very disappointing experience. It's especially frustrating because we had such a great experience with Wayne previously, which is why I specifically requested him in our reservation this time. We still ended up paying $120 for the whole meal which is OK but knowing that my brother and his girlfriend didn't get half of their entrées, kind of deserves that and more. My boyfriend didn't even get his fried rice and they had to start over and make it but then his food was cold by the time he got it. We chose Benihana because it was my daughter's first time going, and we were really looking forward to making it a special and memorable experience for her on her birthday. There was very little interaction or entertainment, which is a big part of the reason we chose to come here in the first place. On top of that, we felt very rushed by our server throughout our meal, making it difficult to relax and enjoy the experience. What has made the situation even more frustrating is that we took the time to submit a complaint directly to Benihana Corporate regarding our experience. We have yet to hear back from Corporate or the General Manager of the restaurant. We weren't looking for anything unreasonable--we simply wanted our concerns to be acknowledged and addressed. Benihana was amazing as usual! We came with friends to celebrate a birthday and started the evening at the bar for happy hour. The drinks were delicious and definitely got the night started right. When it was time for our reservation, we moved over to the hibachi area and thankfully didn't have to wait long. Timing is always key for me, so that was already a win. One thing we did notice was that the hibachi show wasn't quite what it used to be. Back in the day, part of the Benihana experience was the entertainment, jokes, tricks, and laughter around the table. This time, the performance seemed much shorter. Maybe customers don't want as much of the show anymore, or maybe Benihana is moving away from that part of the experience. You tell me the next time you go! The upside was that we got our food faster and were able to get in and out without spending the entire evening there. Our waitress was very friendly and attentive, and the food was still delicious. Before making a reservation on Yelp I read the reviews. Most bad reviews mentioned the long wait time. I decided to make a reservation as soon as the restaurant opens at 11:00 am. The reviews were correct, we waited 20 minutes to get seated, our drinks and appetizers didn't come out until 11:50 am. When we were seated we were met with dirty plates. We notified our waitress and got new plates. I proceeded to look around and the floors were dirty and the stoves full of grease. It made a terrible first impression. The food was okay, but when everything is filthy your appetite just goes down the tube. We didn't get out of there until 12:45 pm. After careful review of the restaurant doing both dine in and take-out, I have to report back that you're better off making it to hibachi place. I've spent the time so you don't have too dine in With my family felt rushed and out cook didn't really do any thing then basic stuff, the appetizers came out the same time as the main course which didn't leave anytime to eat the food before it was cold. Second visit the restaurant was empty, very clean and had lot of bar space and it still took the cook 20 minutes almost to come out. The service sis terrible inside the restaurant. The fountain drinks were very basic and a lot of ice which made the drinks watery and less of the product. Furthermore the portion of rice to meat ratio is not equal. I order a waygu fried rice and the was barely a trace of it in the rice. The chef struggled properly proportioning meat during serving more mushrooms than steak. "Despite that I still tried to give it another shot An order again" Then today I did a pickup order for two hibachi steak fried rice bowls and the rice is completely hard inedible actually their wasn't any meat really in the bowl but 8/9 pieces I tried to eat it but I just couldn't do it no carrots in the rice just heeping load onions. So for this I gave 2 stars because the food quality is never consistent or properly proportioned. Taste is always changing so I'm going to give this review in light that some things can be done to adverse my experience as I love Benihana and have eaten here an decided to try this location was very saddening. read more

We've been to Benihana quite a few times, and one thing I can say is the food is consistently good. You pretty much know you're going to leave happy and full. This visit stood out thanks to Chef Wayne and Daniel, who really elevated the experience. Chef Wayne brought great energy to our table. It was just hubby and I at our Teppan table which made it nice and intimate for lunch. He was very engaged while still delivering perfectly cooked dishes. The flavors were on point, portions were generous, and everything came out exactly as expected (which honestly is part of why I keep coming back). Daniel's customer service was good. We had a reservation for 6 o'clock, but still didn't get sat until 630 so I'm not sure what the point of the reservation was especially when we are only a party of two. By the time we ordered it was almost 7 o'clock. The server was good. He was attentive. Our drinks were good. I ordered the steak entrée. Service was fine and the chef goes over what you ordered to verify food allergies which is helpful to us, with food allergies. I've been coming here for years. The food is almost always on point. The chefs are entertaining. Some are better than others. If you like a chef, you can make reservations and be sure to request for your favorite chef. Just make sure they have your order right for the cook when they confirm your order, and it should be fine. They charge 18% gratuities on parties 6 or more which is usually standard. The wait staff are usually on point and will keep your drinks filled. You can ask them for any kind of dipping sauces and extra garlic butter. I like various items that they offer. Bennihana is known for their strong garlic flavor. So if you do not like garlic you may not love it. Filet Mignon is always good. Tender. Hibachi steak is good, not as tender as the filet. The shrimp is good. The scallops are usually good. Some chefs tend to burn them so make sure to watch out for that. I enjoy the lobster. The chicken dishes are good. Both teriyaki and hibachi. The soup is salty and good. They make the best chicken fried rice. Edamame is pretty tasty. Some people like the sushi, I can't speak for it though. At the end of your meal you can ask for hot green tea. The ice cream is tasty. They also have the taste of bennihana special where you can sit on the other side of the restaurant with no chef experience but you still get yummy food. I've noticed since Covid, you can wait quite a long time before they start cooling your food. So be sure to give yourself 2 hours if you want to enjoy the experience. I decided to surprise my wife with a visit here for our Anniversary to enjoy some sushi. The problem wasn't the food. It was the service. Halfway into service, our waitress had to leave. She was great and said that a bartender was going to be checking in on us. We acknowledged and thanked her. Nobody came to check on us, but the 2 ladies next to us were visited by someone who didn't acknowledge us. So I tried to flag down another person who was cleaning the tables, he didn't pay any attention whatsoever. I had to go to another side of the bar just to get to go boxes from a gentleman preparing drinks. He was very nice and helpful. In the end I brought it up to a young Female Manager with glasses. The food now, the onion soup, that was really good, best i have had. The salad, dressing was really good. But iceberg, red cabbage, shredded carrots, tasted just like the grocery store ready to eat. The hibachi supreme steak was delicious, the fried rice was pretty good. The lobster was good. The lobster butter very weird taste to it. The cook also waited to warm it till after he served the lobster and it took a while to melt. I think they should of warmed the butter, same time he cooked the lobster. That way it would be ready at the same time. I do not know what the flavor was in the butter, but will not try again. The habiaci shirmp. I watched he gave 3 or four shrimp pieces to others around table. But only gave me two, but i had the chopped up lobster which was good, so plenty of meat. The veggies were ok. I'm writing to share my disappointment with the service my husband and I experienced at Benihana Ontario. From the beginning, the service was disorganized. We were given menus and essentially directed to walk ourselves over to the bar area, where we sat down with our own menus. Our server, Sharon, introduced herself and explained that she was new which was fine. I ordered a spicy sushi roll, while my husband ordered from the teppanyaki menu. When his food arrived, a piece of yellowtail was brought out, and he immediately explained that it was not what he had ordered. He eventually received his correct food from the grill, but during that entire time, no one checked on me or followed up regarding my order. After waiting, what appeared to be my sushi order finally arrived--but it was simply yellowtail with jalapeños on top, which was not what I had ordered. I explained that this was not my order. Another bartender came over and said they would let the sushi bar know. We waited approximately another 10 minutes, and still no one came back to check on us, apologize, or offer any solution. At that point, I canceled my order. What was particularly disappointing was hearing the bartender then say to another bartender, essentially, "Is the manager mad because she canceled the order?" That comment was extremely unprofessional and only added to an already frustrating experience. At no point did anyone take ownership of the situation, apologize for the repeated mistakes, or make any effort to make the experience right. We chose Benihana expecting a fun dining experience and good service, but unfortunately, the service we received was anything but that. Mistakes happen in restaurants--we understand that. What is unacceptable is the lack of communication, follow-up, apology, and professionalism when those mistakes occur. I hope management will take the time to review what happened and address the service issues with the staff involved. I would appreciate a response regarding this experience. read more

We had a great experience at Benihana in Ontario today! We came in specifically for the Power Lunch and arrived around 1:50 PM. We were seated by 1:53 PM, and our food was served by about 2:20 PM -- well within the 45-minute Power Lunch guarantee. Everything was delicious and the service was excellent! What really stood out, though, was our waiter, Ferry. He was quick, attentive, and, most importantly, incredibly friendly. He made us feel very welcome and comfortable from the moment we sat down. Even with the faster-paced Power Lunch service, we never felt rushed or overlooked. Ferry stayed on top of everything and provided genuinely warm, attentive service. I hadn't been here in a long time and my kids had actually never been to a Teppanyaki restaurant, so we decided to remedy that! Our server and chef were fun and entertaining! I made a reservation, I recommend that. It was quick and easy on yelp. We received our 1st course in about 7mins which was pretty fast, drinks came quickly too. The chef was great, interacting with the kids. Food was delicious, u recommend the spicy teriyaki sauce, OMG fabulous! A must try if u like spice. The ambiance is loud, there's tables all around you and people screaming, but its not awful. People come here to celebrate birthdays and other occasions. I was then moved to another table. The entire experience took 2+ hours for a party of 1, for lunch. The customer service is really struggling here and I was reminded why I don't go. If you're heading to Benihana Ontario, you have to request Chef Jacob! We visited for a special occasion and he made the night truly memorable. He's a true entertainer who kept everyone at the table smiling, even with the restaurant being packed solid during graduation season. For being a young Chef, It was impressive to watch him manage so many different meats and seafood orders for our full table without missing a beat--everything was cooked exactly how everyone asked. But wow, the show they used to put on isn't a thing anymore? Our guy just cooked the food after banging the tools on the cooking surface. Service was awful and there are more security guards there than I could count. For the price you pay for this it's no longer worth it. Hard pass for me from now on. There is no Lee and they had no idea that I was calling, the business responses here are templated responses likely managed by a third party to give the illusion of customer care.
