Ambiance is casual. Unfortunately, my recent visit, specifically for their Seafood Diablo entree, fell far short of that lively expectation, leaving me with a surprisingly lackluster and frankly, concerning, dining experience. The five-course meal promised a grand procession, but the star of the show, the Seafood Diablo, was a letdown. Billed as a fiery and flavorful dish, it arrived tasting surprisingly bland and excessively oily, weighing down what should have been a light and zesty plate. The scallops were disappointingly minuscule, and the shrimp weren't much larger, leaving me feeling like I paid premium for meager portions. Beyond the main course, the "five-course" claim felt misleading. While we received the standard Benihana onion soup and salad, essential components like the Hibachi Shrimp Appetizer, Hibachi Vegetables, the Homemade Dipping Sauces, and even the Japanese Hot Green Tea were conspicuously absent. It felt like a significant part of the expected Benihana experience simply vanished. To compound the disappointment, my onion soup arrived with a small, flat piece of plastic floating within it - an immediate and unsettling discovery that certainly put a damper on the start of the meal. But. To their credit, the manager was incredibly prompt and professional in addressing these issues. They took control of the situation immediately and applied a fair discount to the bill, which was appreciated. However, even with the quick service recovery, the overall impression was tainted. The professional service I've come to expect from Benihana simply wasn't there, and the numerous missteps, particularly with the food quality and missing courses, made for a genuinely uninspiring meal. My recent dining experience at this establishment was incredibly disappointing and frustrating. Despite having made a reservation for 7:30 PM, we had to wait 35 minutes to be seated, and when we were finally accommodated, we were crammed into a table meant for eight people, which was clearly a result of overbooking. It took another 30 minutes for us to even be acknowledged by a server, and an additional 20 minutes just to get water on our table, with no apologies offered for the delay. When our server finally took our drink orders, they disappeared for an extended period before bringing them out one at a time after another 20-minute wait. Not only did they forget to bring out the signature soup and salad as promised, but it also took nearly an hour for the chef to arrive and start cooking our meals, and there were only two chefs working the entire night. To make matters worse, our bill was incorrectly calculated, with all charges lumped onto a single party, and despite the abysmal service we received, the server still expected an 18% gratuity. The manager seemed more preoccupied with socializing at the bar than overseeing the restaurant, and to top it off, we overheard an altercation between the chef and another customer, with the chef accusing them of dishonesty. As someone who enjoys dining at Benihana locations, particularly the one in Scottsdale, this experience was a stark contrast and left a sour taste in my mouth. It was especially disheartening as it was the first time my boyfriend and family were meeting my relatives. I Attended my niece Sweet 16 dinner at Benihana when I say it was the worst resturant experience i have ever had,let's just say Bad Customer Service is a understatement it was Horrific, offensive, distasteful to make a long story start i was standing up and a waitress ended up spilling a tray of drinks all over me.. Did not apologize did not give me a towel as she walked away she says somebody is going to pay for this shit (yes) in front of my kids (unbelievable) I asked for the Manager never showed up i waited over 2hrs so I request for him again he had the nerve to tell my waitress to bring me to the bar area he was not coming to our table (unbelievable) so I had to stand up near the kitchen/bar area were its loud and explain what happened to me....why did I have to wait over 2hrs for you so Joe the Manager had the nerve to tell me he was to busy with other big parties thats why he wasn't able to come (really) on top of that's he insults me by saying the only thing I can offer you is dry cleaning NOT apology these people at this restaurant need retaining but if the Manager act like this that explains the madness .....( I WILL NEVER EVER GO TO BENIHANA AGAIN) my waitress and the cook was the only good about this place very disappointed and hurt.... read more

Looking for a festive place with a chef & hibachi to celebrate your husband's birthday? DO NOT BOTHER with Benihana's! I made my reservations a week in advance. When we arrived, there was a full waiting area. Some not-so-sweet young thing was trying to play "hostess" but was completely undone when I (politely) asked when we would be seated after a wait of almost 30 minutes. The second time I politely asked, she ran in the back and got some really rude chick from Chicago to "help" me. This person publicly berated and insulted me by saying I was her "grandmother" so she couldn't "put me in her pocket & deal with me." Really? She went on to call me a "Golden Girl" & proceeded to raise her voice to me. My husband and adult son wanted to leave immediately. So we did. I really feel like I was attacked verbally because I was a minority in the wait area. Yep, I'm Caucasian and the hostess and wait staff are Black. Funny thing? The Black customers who were waiting to be seated were appalled at the Benihana's wait staff's behavior and said they would be contacting the Corporate office. I am all about deals. Seriously many may laugh and find it amusing but, there is method to my madness. Listen in... Benihana has been said to be expensive, don't get me wrong because it certainly is! I found a loop hole though. So Benihana has a chef's club. You can find the info on their website. I strongly suggest everyone in Memphis sign-up, get a free $30 dinner certificate! That's right $30 bucks!! Now they even have a kids birthday club, its free so why not sign up right?! If that didn't grab your attention... they also have a happy hour Mon-Thurs from 5:30-8pm. It is the best thing ever!! There are a few drinks half price, as well as half price Sake and appetizers! Another incentive is the free photo! I have a mass collection of Benihana photos with my friends, family , and people that I just met over the hibachi but you would think we have been buddies for ages, lol! THE WORST OF THE WORST They sent the dishwasher out to cook for us, the dropped the spatula trying to put it on the grill , he processed to tell us ( kids included) how he drank to much the night before, he dropped every egg he picked up, Jumped at the fire Rd and undercooked everything, chicken included. This was the worse restaurant and experience there are TO MANY complaints to name them all. Don't do it... I recently visited Benihana in Memphis, and while the food was good, the experience was far from smooth. The chef was cool and friendly, but unfortunately, he was a bit sloppy during the cooking. To make matters worse, we didn't receive silverware, and the host failed to bring our soup or salad. She also didn't prep the table properly, which made the entire dining experience feel unorganized. They did offer us drinks as compensation, but those never showed up either. Overall, the service was frustrating, and I'd recommend visiting another Benihana location if you want the full experience. read more

I had an outstanding experience at Benihanas! Our waitress, Lauren, was absolutely wonderful. She was attentive, friendly, and made sure we had everything we needed throughout the meal. She went above and beyond to ensure we had a great dining experience. A big shout-out to the cook, Jose, as well! This was absolutely comical. Missing salads, missing the tea, missing sauces for sides. And the quantity of food was possibly smaller than a child's portion. I'm not sure if we are just really skimping on the uber eat orders since no one is there in person to question what you're sending out. But this is absolutely appalling. We ordered from a corporate entity for food and quantity control specifically, jokes on us it was worse than any mom and pop. I consider myself a sushi person, appreciating all kinds and trying it everywhere I can throughout the world. Beninhana isn't the most mind-numbing best sushi ever, but it is consistently good, fresh, and melt in your mouth. It is especially good during happy hour, when it is 1/2 off or more. Ask for sauce on the side, however, as they can load it on. Excellent value for drinks, appetizers an sushi in the lounge for happy hour. I cannot advise on the teppanyaki, as I have not had it. read more

I've been here for 45 mins at the table waiting for cook. They only have 2 cooks working and it is to slow to have lunch here and get back to work on time. It is a shame how bad this place has got in the last 6 months. Another problem is that they now only put very little butter in there rice so they can charge you for more. Just go up on the price and stop nickel dime us. Get new management that knows how to run this place before its to late. read more

Grant it , it is NOTHING like the old Benihana, so very sad- BUT they do have one of my absolute favorite lunches in town- It's called "The Boat"- $11 5 stars My five stars are not for the restaurant itself- I would give it a 3 or 4 - Wow! Great place to take a classy date and enjoy great food. If you love sushi, you will absolutely crave Benihana because of the first mouthwatering bite you take it will have you under its spell. If you do not like sushi, you are in luck because they have a full hibachi menu that is created right in front of you. It is a dinner and a show.
