My favorite hibachi spot! Always good and consistent. Sushi is good and I love their garlic butter. So yummy!! If you're trying to watch your weight, then don't go here. People complain about the amount of butter, but what do you expect? Go somewhere that serves salads. Zero complaints about this place! read more

Worse than expected. Food was tasteless, wait was too long for an empty restaurant, prices were way too high. Not worth the money, went home sick to stomach. Benihana chef was Mexican and kept saying it was another Japanese mistake....boy was he right, a major mistake. Don't bother going read more

I have visited Benihana a few times in the past. Our most recent visit was exceptional due to the knowledge and attentiveness of our sever Amaya. She was extremely helpful with food choices and checked in on us regularly. We love the atmosphere at Benihana and will continue to visit. read more

This Benihana has the worst service ever!! We waited 2 hours to get a table. We were a party of 3 & saw many ppl who didn't have reservations come in after us & get tables before us. Once we finally got a table we waited an hour to get the soup & salad. The table next to us got seated about 30 mins after us & they received their food before we even got the soup & salad. There were 2 birthdays at our table & because they were so late servicing us they did not sing to them. The manager was called over & did not apologize for anything. Benihana is my favorite restaurant & I was so disappointed in the service. I would never go to this location again! read more

Nothing special , except for the hibachi part where they make food live in front of you. Taste wise its Average. But the worst part is food quantity wise is so less for the amount we're paying for it. read more

Excellent evening. There were 5 of us out for a delicious habachi dinner. Terrific waiter Samuel. So polite. Brought drink refills we didnt have to ask. Chef was so entertaining. Had the worst dinner experience here last night and will definitely NOT be coming back here! Our waiter Zachary sucked! We were a party of 3 girls seated next to another party of 5 girls at the hibachi table. He kept screwing everything up for us, but was soo so eager to wait on the ladies next to us. First off me and my girls all got chicken or shrimp meals. My one friend specifically ordered chicken teriyaki and asked him about his opinion on it. When the chef came out m, he had steak written down for my friends meal. None of us ordered steak or even said the word steak. Next, our friend would drink all her water and have to drink our other friends water before he came around to refill our drinks. We asked for fried rice with our hibachi, and ended up getting chicken fried rice and charged way extra for it. I asked for water since mine had been empty and i was feeling parched, he came back with a tray of 4 waters and started asking the group next to us if anyone wanted water, he passed them all out while i sat there saying "me" "me, i asked for water" then he looks at me and hes like "oh you wanted water?" No shit Sherlock. When we asked for the bill, he came and dropped off a bill for $440 for a group of 9 which wasnt ours. Took him over 15 mins to come into view so we can tell him we got the wrong bill. We tell him and he disappears again for quiet a while before he brings us the correct bill. When he does, no apologies or anything. I ask him can you wait a minute so we can give you payment instead of coming back for it, he walks away. We sit and wait for at least another 10 mins for him to come take payment. Then wait for him to bring our cards back. He was so horrendous to deal with. We wasted so much of our time waiting for him read more

I had an amazing experience. My server Angel was fantastic and nice, he made sure to be on top of everything including the rest of his tables, that shows how well this establishment handles itself. Over priced Japanese Restaurant. Bland tasting food. Americanized versión of Japanese food. Not worth with the money. They charge you for anything extra. Would never go back there again. read more

For a first time hibachi experience, my family and I had a wonderful time! Our server Samuel and chef Simon were both very friendly and helpful whenever we had any questions. The food was very good! One of the best restaurants I've been to in a while. The way the chefs cook in front of you is epic. My waiter was Anthony and he was chill and had fast service. The chef, Felipe also was skilled and provided great food. The price was definitely worth the 5 course meal. Would come again. read more

I just went to Benihana and had a great experience with our chef Felipe and the waiter Anthony. They helped us out a lot and were great.

Sammy was awesome! Everything you could want in a server. My order got messed up, but Sammy took care of it promptly and professionally. Food was as expected, but the service was great. read more

Absolutely horrible staff at this location. Hostesses are rude and the manager had the same pathetic attitude. We made a reservation for a large group few days in advance but were kept waiting for 45 minutes ! On top of that the hostess and manager gave us attitude and said there are others waiting for over 1 hour ! We left the place disgusted. Never go here read more

I took my boyfriend to BH for Fathers Day because he had never been before. The food was great, the service was OK, but I was disappointed because the prices increased since it was a holiday. Wow. What a terrible experience. While some in our party of 7 arrived 5 minutes late due to traffic, we weren't seated for 10 minutes and then didn't see a chef until an hour after our reservation time. An hour. This despite a 1/2 empty restaurant. The presentation was also lack-luster. I've been to hibachi grills all over the country and this was by far the most muted presentation I've ever experienced. This place is not a recommend. read more

Amazing food, amazing service!!! Would definitely recommend to everyone. I went with my family and we were seated right away. The waiter took our order and The food arrived within a reasonable time. The staff was friendly and very attentive. The food it self was delicious! I've been to many hibachi restaurants and honestly, this one beats them all! If you want good food and friendly service, then go to Benihana! read more

I love this place, but I especially enjoyed my experience tonight. We came in around 8:45pm where the restaurant was a little slower. I don't like to inconvenience anyone at that late in the night but the hostess and manager still offered us the hibachi side although it seemed to be dying out. We accepted and were seated at a private table, as no more guests arrived to join us. We were greeted by a very friendly server named Samuel. From beginning to end he was attentive, funny, friendly and never made us feel rushed. Our "personal" chef was named Julio . He was fantastic. The food tasted great, not too salty as it sometimes does, and he was very entertaining. He checked to make sure we were enjoying our food, and even offered to get us a refill. The communication and team work of the staff tonight was exceptional! The manager on duty also checked on us during our meal. I'm never let down at this place but tonight specifically was a wonderful night. Thank you ! read more

We went to celebrate my daughters 12th birthday with a party of 12 at this Benihana's in Edison NJ. We were told our wait time would be 15 minutes, it ended up being over 30. We sat down and no one came to our table to talk greet or anything until we asked to see a server. After placing our food and drink order it took over 40 minutes to get the drinks AFTER we called a manager. The drinks arrived and we were still waiting on the soups and salad. They brought out soup with beef broth which 90% of the party didn't have because they don't eat beef and were told after that a miso option was available. The salad came and the dressing was extremely salted and tasted like it had gone bad. The server brought out a broom and started cleaning the chairs we were sitting on and around us while we were still in it! As we spoke to the manager the waiter laughed the entire time writing down a list of our complaints from the time service took, to any other issues. The chef came out and cooked in utter silence. We had 2 toddlers, one 5 year old and my 12 year old who we were celebrating with us. The chef made no attempts to showcase the cooking and even had the egg cracked and mixed before he got to the table. We ordered sushi that didn't get to the table even past the hour and a half we were there. The server again smirked and laughed saying I didn't write it down that you ordered ordered a roll. Now I have a 12 year old crying because she thinks her birthday ruined everyone's day, when it was your restaurant staff. I have been to hibachi many many times and I have never ever dealt with the type of service I was provided with at your location. I am utterly disgusted by the arrogant server, the chef who could've turned this night around but chose to cook to himself in silence, and the manager who said he understood if we walked about because he can't do anything about this. For the prices you charge, and the type of service your restaurant is known for, I am disgusted by everything I experienced this Thursday night. The staff should be ashamed of themselves. read more

We celebrated our 20th Wedding Anniversary here on Aug. 1, 2018, because this particular Benihana is one of my husband's favorite places. The food and drinks - and the service by Miguel M. - excellent! We love to sit in the booth in the private bar area. Luckily, it was available when we arrived for dinner around 8:45 p.m. - and Mike, the manager, who is wonderful, made sure that it was "reserved" for us. Our waiter, Miguel M., promptly took our drink orders - a pina colada for me and an Ichiban beer for my husband. He kept up the excellent service all night long. We ordered the edamame appetizer (my favorite) and the sushi platter (my husband's favorite) - and Miguel brought those quickly. Our entrees were also delivered in good timing: the Emperor's Choice for me (filet mignon and chicken) and Rocky's Choice for my husband (steak and chicken). Miguel M. made sure to honor my request that my shrimp be given to my husband because I am allergic to seafood. He also noted that we didn't want any fanfare (no singing, etc.) for our anniversary. For dessert: Chocolate ice cream (for me) and rainbow sherbet (for my husband). Total bill, with tax, for dinner, before tip: About $100. (We did add a nice tip for the excellent service.) Mike, the manager, came by to talk with us - and to wish us a Happy 20th and many more! He took a couple of nice pictures of us at my request. All in all, it was a wonderful night out to celebrate our milestone anniversary! read more

My first time there and it was an amazing experience! I would definitely go back. It great to go with friends. The food was really good, seasoned and cooked very well. Our chef was very entertaining. Came in for my daughter's birthday dinner. The waiter asked my husband and myself if we had any special occasions for the evening. I said yeah its my daughter's 9th birthday and we just found out we are expecting another baby. We told the waiter About her birthday plus my daughter told the waiter too. When i got my food it was drenched in salt and i told the chef i can't have much salt due to pregnancy and he says no problem. But the chef added like a gallon of salt plus a ton of soy sauce. Food had to be remade twice! Then after there were like 5 other tables being sung too but the waiter didn't sing to my daughter. My daughter and husband were upset and we had to tell the manager and he grabbed servers and they sung to my daughter. All she wanted was to be sung to and the waiter didn't do that. Ive come here millions of times and tonight was terrible. They need to step up their game! read more

We have been here so many times only because the kids like it. The food is good here but the wait is crazy! Whether they are busy or not, they make you wait forever! We usually come on weekdays to avoid crowds but still even if the waiting room is empty, we still usually wait 30-40 minutes easily just to get sit. We have even try to call ahead and make reservation, but even with reservation they still make you wait like you have none. Then you wait another 30 minutes or so for the chef to come around. So they really need to work on that. read more

**Fair warning: long review** This was my first time here (as well as 2 other members of my party) and it was horrendous. Total mess. We got there and the 4 of us were seated pretty quickly at a regular table because we didn't want to wait 30 minutes to get a seat at the hibachi bar. Our server was inattentive from the get go. He took over 25 minutes to even come to ask what we'd like to order. It was a total of 4 of us and we ordered 2 spicy chicken hibachis which comes as a "5 course meal" as well as 2 chicken hibachi rices. One of the people I was with also ordered a diet coke which came flat the first 2 times, after which she just asked for a regular coke and found that was also flat. Our "5 course meal" didn't even come. We got soup and salad - that's it. And this is despite us asking our server why we didn't get all of the supposedly included items. We were always just told some version of he'd be getting it for us. We then got our entrees, which honestly none of us even realized was our entree because there was barely any food on the plate, seriously. And this is coming from someone who's been told many times that she eats like a bird. So... just imagine how little food there was. We asked for one of our rices to be spicy and it wasn't. Only one spicy chicken hibachi was supposed to be without mushrooms, yet both lacked mushrooms. We told the server about his mistake and asked him if we could get some mushrooms on the side and we literally got a bowl of zucchini with, I kid you not - 2 pieces of mushrooms in it. One of the people I was with then went to talk to the manager because it was honestly ridiculous how messed up and unenjoyable our meal was. The manager apologized and said he'd bring us new entrees, and when we got the food they only brought us 1 entree. Between the 4 of us... instead of the 2 that we originally ordered. That one new entree was specifically asked to be chicken only because one of the people we were with is extremely allergic to seafood, yet when we got it it had shrimp on it despite her telling the manager and server about her allergy. We're so lucky one of us quickly noticed and pointed it out. We then called the manager over and told him. He offered to bring us yet another entree but we were honestly just over it at that point and asked for the check. Honestly ridiculous. Two hours completely wasted. None of us have ever experienced such horrible service. To be fair, from what I had of the food it tasted okay, but the complete lack of proper attention and care to what we ordered (especially when it involves important things like allergies and when we're paying good money for a meal) as well as the apathy from our server made it an experience I'd never want to relive. So upsetting. Avoid this place at all costs, if you can. read more

Food was delicious. Compared to other hibachi places I've visited, the portions were smaller but it still filled me up. The staff was great. Very attentive and considerate of things you don't like as well as allergies. I would prefer if the menu had a few more options, but I was happy with what I got. Many hibachi places are byob but I like that this one has a bar and had a variety of drinks. One issue I had was that pieces of my boyfriends chicken was uncooked. That really grossed me out but it was overall a good experience. read more

Terrible. We made reservations for 830 pm for a party of 25. And we showed up on time. We did not sit down until nearly 10pm. Why should a reservation even be made by this point?. Worst restaurant for takeout EVER. We have been ordering takeout from this location for a year now (spent over $3000) and almost EVERY single order gets screwed up. We order Chicken and get Shrimp, we order extra steak and get less Chicken (and pay $2 extra!!), I literally just ordered Chicken Fried rice with extra egg and got Chicken Fried Rice with a "TINY" amount of egg. Its like no matter what we tell them on the phone they screw up the order one way or another. Now on to the food quality. Half of the time the fried rice we get is old or not even mixed properly. Half of my container has white rice in it because the sauce hasn't been mixed in. The chicken often times is rock hard or cold and they give you 3 pieces of shrimp on a $14 meal! Right now I'm looking at my Chicken friend rice and see parts of the chicken pieces look like grizzle. They cannot take orders They cannot Cook They cannot prepare meals... This last order was my final straw and I told everyone in my office we will NEVER order from there again. read more

Food was mediocre & the dishes were dirty. My spoon had purple lipstick and I had no makeup on. Yuck! I definitely will not go back.

This place is getting worse and worse. If you sitting in the bar-area, the servers are always slow and disorganized. My latest (and last) visit there was awful. We waited about a half-hour between receiving our soup and our entree. Normally they would bring out the salad before the entree, but instead that came after he already brought us our food. When we finally got the salad, it looked like it was mad in a hurry and there was basically no dressing on them. I had ordered the "Garden Delight" which was a joke. The $25 entree was supposed to be served with brown rice. I had to ask him for my rice when he decided to tell me, unapologetically, that they were out of brown rice but he could bring out white rice instead. Instead of telling me that they were out of rice, he was planning on just not bringing me any rice at all and see if I notice? Wow. The Garden Delight is described as "asparagus and other assorted fresh garden vegetables... finished with a white balsamic vinegar"- what it actually was was half a steamed potato, half a steamed carrot, and a half a sprig of asparagus. Needless to say, it was flavorless and disappointing. When we spoke to a manager about the poor service, he did nothing to make it right. He spoke to the waiter who also didn't address the situation. All-in-all, avoid going to Benihana in Edison. U-Yee Sushi & Hibachi is nearby and offers a similar menu with a more consistent experience at a better price. read more

My husband and I went to the Edison NJ at about 5.30 pm on a Friday. It wasn't crowded but within minutes a group of about 14 was seated at the two tables right across from us. They had been at the bar and were shouting and loud. We had already ordered, we should have just left. The family at the table with us didn't know what to do either. It was like no one else noticed! The manager was no help, would not give any consideration to us. I asked for a call from corporate and I'm still waiting a month later. $80.00 for a terrible experience. Never again. read more
