The ambience was nice but the food, I would like to know what that Crisco looking fat was that they threw on the grill? Generally speaking I'm giving this place 4 stars, but relative to other hibachi places I've been to, it's a solid 5 in my book. The pros of this place is that beyond the Benihana pedigree, it has plentiful parking, plenty of seating and a fairly reasonably priced menu with what you'd expect from a hibachi institution. In terms of COVID protocols, they do a good job of keeping people separated and did not jam people into a single table when it is not necessary. Thankfully this is the case as I remember the pre-pandemic days it was all about putting everyone together into one table before moving on to the other. The tables and restrooms were all clean as well, especially for a hibachi place with plenty of cooking grease and smoke in the air. The food was generally good. I went on two occasions and there was definitely a difference between the chefs. The person who cooked for us on the latter visit was far better than the first, with the food being far more flavorful and well seasoned than the other guy's work. However, all in the steaks were tender, the chicken was tasty and the shrimps were well cooked. Even the fried rice was quite tasty. The service was also very prompt and friendly. Just paid close to $700 for dinner with my family and the manager just told me that a bowl of ice cream isn't included in the price of the (on average) $50/meal during the holidays. The waiter rushed us through our meal and didn't even offer us the ice cream. He gave us the check and we had to ask for it after we paid the check. This place is a ripoff. If you've never had a hibachi experience, this is your place to go! I have been going to this location for years and I don't have a bad thing to say. The chefs are masters at what they do, and they always make sure that everyone has a great experience. It's always busy there, so on a weekend you can definitely expect to wait. (They do take reservations though) If you don't have a party of around 6+ there's a huge chance that you will be sitting at the same table with random people. The chef usually breaks the ice with jokes, and fun tricks making it all less awkward. If you can't take the heat, or you're not into your food being cooked in front you they do have tables, and bar seating outside of the hibachi area. I promise you, the food tastes just as good when it's not cooked in front of you. Benihana is definitely pricey but I feel as though it's worth it. Don't expect to pay less than $23 per person. Balling on a budget tip: if you go for lunch you pay half the price and you still get a decent portion! Sign up for their "Chefs Table" and for your Birthday they will email you a $30 certificate. read more

Came here to use my birthday certificate and presented it to the hostess ahead of time to see if they would accept it and she said yes. To be honest, she should've checked with her manager first before saying they would take it - more to come on that. Dining room service was great - waitress was on top of my empty water each time I finished it. She came back to check on us numerous times which is definitely great customer service. I ordered the chicken hibachi with steamed rice and it came with miso soup, salad, and a side of shrimp which I passed on and gave to the other diners at the table. I was there cashing in on a what I thought was a $20 credit towards my meal but it turns out the manager didn't accept it. It was for an affiliate restaurant and it wasn't valid in NJ. I knew that going in but figured I'd give it a shot - why would Benihana send me this coupon especially since I signified that I live in NJ when I signed up for their rewards club. Manager showed me the coupon they would've accepted which I had in my email but it required me to purchase $60 worth of food to get $30 off. I was dining solo so there was no way I was going to order that much food, A and B; the certificate would've been invalid had I taken it to go. I wasn't salty and didn't make an issue about it but the staff should be properly trained on what's accepted and what's not. People also have to start fessing up if they're not sure about something - no shame in that. Ask your manager or supervisor. I probably won't return considering I've had better hibachi at hole in the wall places (and cheaper too). read more

I tried to make a reservation for a week. Online isn't even an option for this location. I called for days, at different times during business hours. Any time the line would connect, I'd be hung up on. We decided to try our luck anyway for Friday night dinner. It was 45 mins for hibachi but 5 minutes for a regular table so we chose to do that. An excellent experience overall. I would recommend this for large groups (greater than 5) for occasions like birthdays or other celebrations. It's a 1 time performance, so you won't enjoy it as much the 2nd time you visit. For vegetarians, I would recommend the vegetable delight lunch option. We had a 5:30 reservation for hibachi. Upon arriving we were told we had to wait because there was a meeting going on with the staff. We were finally seated and eventually the waitress came to take our order. She asked noodles or rice? 3 people in my party asked if they could do half rice, half noodles (assuming one or the other was included, as it is usually at other hibachi places). When finally bringing our drinks and we all asked for straws. Did we want one per drink? Did she think we wanted to share straws? Finally the chef came out and it's now past 6:15. He reviewed the orders and they were wrong. When it was set straight, the food was made - drenched in butter and salt. The chef had to be reminded about the shellfish allergy and to please use different cooking utensils when cooking the chicken, even though the server told us the shrimp would be cooked after the chicken was. My family was with another family and we asked for 2 checks, separating families. When we got the check, it was very wrong. The server needed it broken down again as to who was with who, even though it was made very clear in the beginning. Also, those who asked for half rice and half noodles were charged for a full side of each. She said that's how they do it. She should have said that when the orders were placed as half of each. Did not know a side was not included. Rice was $7 and noodles was $7, on top of the hibachi price, ranging $32 - $38 (without sides). Staff was rude, could not get orders or checks right, and the bathrooms - beyond disgusting. We were the first people there it seemed; does that mean the bathrooms were not clean from the night before? Never going back. There are many other hibachi options in the area who put on an even better show. I will never return and can't imagine why anyone would. Overpriced and underwhelming. read more

I would heavily recommend that if you are not particular on sitting for the show, you ask for a regular table - you have access to the same menu and most definitely will not need a reservation as one is required for the hibachi tables. We have called twice on two different occasions for tables and were told that there were no reservations for the day available but no wait for the regular tables. This was my 6-7 hibachi experience, and we had high expectations for Benihana's. Unfortunately, Benihana's brand name seems to carry the success of this restaurant, as there was a line of folks waiting to be seated. Let's start with the good: the decor is great, the staff are friendly, and the food is decent. They also have a nice fish tank that you'll only see if you're going towards the bathroom, seems kind of pointless... I tried their seafood Diablo, and exotic mojito, and they were great. If you're health conscious, hibachi is not for you, as the amount of sodium and globs of butter used are overkill. Now, here's what needs improvement. Although the decor is nice, it is outdated. The bathrooms are what I would expect to find at a fast food restaurant. Benihana's could learn a lot from McDonalds and Chick-fil-a. I believe my review may be specific to this location only, but I find it hard to believe there were not enough Covid funds for building improvements. I recommend the management walk across the street to seasons 52 and the Cheesecake Factory, and learn from them. Our hostess was swift, and although we were waited on appropriately, after dinner we were rushed out of there, not offered a dessert, or coffee, we were presented with the check. Although I understand staff shortages, this is a service business and the issue falls on management. Folks go to Benihana's for the entertainment and less for the food, I mean, let's face it the meat is often dried out, the fried rice too salty, but who cares, as humans we're fascinated by fire and chefs throwing around utensils. I'm not sure if our chef was over worked, but his attire was stained and dirty, there was a lack of conversation, as he looked as though he just wanted to get done and move on. Again, this falls less on the chef and more on what management is doing to oversee and Motivate their staff. I'd recommend Benihana's look at a system similar to enterprise rent a car, where a customer service score determines incentives for the staff, and management. Although I'm always open to revisiting a location, I don't see myself visiting this location again until I hear of renovations to the building. With our check coming in at $425, I expect better, and there are other places I can spend that kind of money for a far greater experience. I strongly recommend the management take a look at the hibachi experience on Royal Caribbean ships, specifically oasis of the seas. Although they do not allow fire, this was the best experience for hibachi I have witnessed. read more

We shared the table with another party of two who were seated at the other end of the table. The service was good. We didn't wait that long to get our drink and food orders. The fun began during the main event. The chef that we had was very entertaining. He was very funny and put extra effort to include my birthday all throughout his cooking show. The food came out great. The only criticism I can say is that I wish the portion sizes were bigger. The amount of meat and rice ratio were off by a lot, to my liking. Loved my time here, our server Logan was great and very attentive. We had the Blue Ocean and the Mai Tai for drinks. The kids had a Dr Pepper and a berry blast smoothie. Also the chicken and steak combo off the kids menu. We had 3 Steak and Shrimp combo hibachi meal with chicken fried rice and I also had upon noodles. We had the spicy beef dumplings, the shrimp tempura and the soft shell crab apps. Everything was so delicious. By the time the chef finishes cooking our dinner, I was halfway stuffed from the apps and drinks lol. The best part it the fact of knowing your going to have leftovers that you get to heat up later on and then curl up with yummy food and a good movie.
