Our server jasmine was the worst. Our reservation was at 7:30 and didn't get to eat until about 9:30. Food and the cook was great but she was the worse server ever. Didn't even get an offer for dessert or anything had to ask for it. And when she brought it her damn finger was in it. So we asked for another and when she brought it back was literally a bite of it looks like she just scooped out whatever she touched and just brought it back to our the same one. The whole time looks like she had an attitude. The other 5 guests that was with us even left and she didn't even know. We had to ask the other server for stuff since she was no where to be found. But thank you for our cook and the other server for your service. If that girl didn't want to work or don't need a job then she shouldn't have work. We came in as a party of 3 with a reservation at 5pm on a Sunday. The server and cook (Nikita) we had were fantastic and made our experience enjoyable. The food however was mediocre, not at the fault of the chef, just probably how the dishes are designed. Get ready for tons of butter on everything that hits the flat top. We ordered a few cocktails that had no evidence of alcohol, which may be a pro or con depending on the drinker. For $15 though, I think the overpriced drinks in Vegas are more worth your money. The filet mignon was probably the best tasting protein choice, then the shrimp. The chicken was dry. The scallops were .. fine but you can tell they were previously frozen, maybe too long? They were smaller and tougher than I would have liked. Look, after tax+tip, if we were looking to spend $200+ for 3, I would have opted for a nice steak restaurant catering more to quality. Sure the show was entertaining, but not $70 per person entertaining. Maybe if you had kids? This was my second time at a benihana's, so this review is not based on a first time experience. read more

This has to be the worst restaurant i have EVER been to. Where do i begin.... Our dinner came before the appetizers and rice came at the end. Now for the food ordered the steak and i tell you the pepper shaker lid must gave fell off. There was so much pepper couldn't eat my dinner. The manager both of them came over to replace the dinner i told them both. NO PEPPER. So my dinner comes out and guess what was all over the plate. Yup PEPPER So they took my dinner off the bill. Let me just start by saying that I've always had a good experience at Benihana. I've been going to Benihana for at least 20 years, not this Downey location though, and the most that has happened to me has been long wait times for the chef. That's a solid four stars. Until today. My problem was not with the waitress at all. She was great!!!! Very patient and super busy. I ordered the yellowtail chili ponzu. The waitress said that they are out of yellowtail. That is no problem! Can I get the same thing but with salmon instead of yellowtail? So basically I wanted the chili ponzu with salmon because they were out of yellowtail. So unfortunately I never got it. We had to ask the waitress twice and at one point it sounded like the sushi chefs completely forgot about it. This was about 45 minutes into our meal. It's still never came out and then we asked again and she brought it at the complete end of our meal - as in, we had already gotten the check and ice cream. BUT it was a PLAIN SALMON ROLL. Not even what i ordered!! And it looked super old. My husband and i were like, uhhhh? And we mentioned it to her and she took it away and took it off the bill. There definitely could have been a misunderstanding about what I wanted in the first place but the fact of the matter is that I never got the sushi that I ordered until completely after the meal. So i ended up with no sushi at all. The second problem was the bathrooms. I even took photos. One stall is missing the entire toilet paper dispenser and there were no seat covers. That stall shouldve been marked out of order. The paper towel boxes were filled with dinner napkins. When a restaurant cheapest dish is $29.50 I expect a ton better! There's a reason why this location has 2 1/2 stars. I don't think any of them have over three stars and that's a problem. I think corporate believes people will go anyway even if they never make any changes, and that's probably true but you just lost two customers from this experience. Two people don't matter in the grand scheme of things, but each customer's experience SHOULD matter. read more

We didn't get to try this location, we had reservations set for 8:15 and still the wait was 1 hour, and that was for every reservation, some said they had waited 2 hrs even. Their service is terrible, the hosts have no idea how to handle things and the restaurant has no idea how to prioritize reservations and walk ins. They need training. read more

I'm only giving it a 3 because the cook was so nice and waitress even with reservations it took 2 hours for them to cook which was ridiculous. Server came one time in the entire time after taking our order to see if we needed refills. Came back for a split second to see if we needed something and then disappeared before we could even ask for anything. I just want to want to cancel my order, I'm that irritated. They don't care about people's time. Making a reservation used to mean something. Probably not the guy cooking the foods fault, but I'm just pissed and not even making eye contact.
