Food is average, not good enough to put up with the mediocre service specially from the host. The short round girl from last night tossed the clipboard on the desk, took a step back, crossed her arms, and just stared me down like an angry baby Chola when I said party of 2. The skinny guy next to her looked at her and hesitated then uncomfortably said "we're not taking a wait right now", I said "oh thank you" and turned around. I don't know who stole that girls Hot Cheetos but she looked big mad. Let your guest know you are currently at capacity and the wait list is closed as soon as they come in. Last thing I need is a clipboard thrown at me when I just wanted miso soup. We get it, we understand restaurants get busy. Staff needs to learn to use their big kid words and communicate verbally. Ambiance resembled a juvenile hall cafeteria. read more

Benihana is yummy yummy thanks for a great time here as always! Looking forward to coming back

Service was great for curbside pickup, but the food was absolutely disappointing. i ordered two plates of the chicken lunch special & this was the result. Some pieces of the chicken were chewy, the mushrooms were shrunken, and i don't know what kind of "salad" that is but it was trash. The rice and soup were fine. I honestly expected a good serving of my meals, but I don't think I will be ordering from here again (unless they make up for it). read more

Benihana - Benihana's lunch in Downey! - Sushi Bars Near Me - Downey, California

Reservation time not honored; sat 40 mins later. Drinks took 15 minutes to bring out, and we had to ask other servers for refills. My food was cross-contaminated multiple times by cook (even when allergy and preferences were clearly mentioned to server AND cook). Server disappeared for 15-30 mins at a time, meaning very few-to-no drink refills, and I had to explicitly ask for check. Manager(s) did little to really help, and offered a paltry $10 discount off of a $160+ check (ultimately coming out to almost $200 for 4, and no celebration of Birthday/Fathers Day. Poor service, poor food quality, poor customer satisfaction skills, poor ambiance (VERY loud!). ***DO NOT PATRONIZE THIS LOCATION!*** The whole situation was completely uncalled for, opposite of Benihana's typical service/experience, and lacking in customer service, satisfaction, and quality. I am beyond just upset. I am disappointed, angry, and shocked that so many opportunities for excellence turned out to be one mistake after another...after another...leading to lack of any average standards or quality. This is a reason people walk out and don't tip (I did, but probably shouldn't have in hindsight!) Why was my family having to fight so hard to get our complete meals as described in the menu? Why were we fighting to get basic drinks and restaurant service (from Edgar)? Why wouldn't a cook take a request for food allergy and avoidance of cross-contamination seriously with THREE overall warnings by me? Why wouldn't a supervisor/manager do more to ensure that the customer really was taken care of? And why did I waste over 2-1/2 hrs (6:40pm-9:30pm!) for an incorrect meal, lousy service, and potential food poisoning/illness with very little sympathy or actual compensation on my part for the entire debacle??? Horrible location that doesn't prioritize customers, quality, or safety. read more

Made reservations this Sunday for my sister's Birthday at 8pm and didn't get seated until 8:35. The server was nice and always looking out for us, the chef Sarah was also nice, But the food was just ok, the rice felt over cooked and the chicken felt old. My spider roll was horrible, never have I had a roll have the paper stuck to the rice on the outside. It didn't look like rice paper, it was just a weird piece of white paper all around the rice on the outside and it was not yummy. Also, the chef was very nice, but the presentation could be better, we didn't get a choo choo train or pumping heart and it wasn't until my brother in law tipped her, that she did something extra at the end. And there's a security guard with a gun at this location, I wonder why? The vibe was definitely off. read more

IDK why this location gets so much hate. If you show up without a reservation yes, you'll probably wait a while. But I never have an issue with getting a reservation with even the slightest bit of planning ahead. Outside of any wait time issues, it's a Benihana. If you've been to one, you've been to them all and you already know your faves items to order. This location is decent, the staff hustles despite being constantly busy as hell, and the food is good. Honestly, a chill lunch at the bar beats a loud, crazy dinner at the teppanyaki tables for me any day. read more

By far Chef Precious was beyond incredible. I've been to several Benihana's over the years and I can say the best eating experience out of all my encounters. It was a horrible night. We had a reservation at 815, and we didn't get seated till about 9pm. Then the server took our order, and the chef didn't arrive till 1015pm. The food was not great either. Don't waste your time and money. read more

Waited 2 1/2 hours before any food came to the table with a reservation. The manager was terrible told us that a hour wait isn't bad , and argued us down about the time we arrived. I had a reservation, and I was truly disappointed with my experience. I expected that having a reservation would ensure a smooth dining experience, but unfortunately, it was quite the opposite. Upon arrival, we were made to wait for nearly 55 minutes, even though we had a confirmed reservation. The restaurant was clearly overcrowded, and it seemed that the staff was struggling to keep up. When we were finally seated, our table was located near the kitchen, which made for a noisy and less-than-pleasant atmosphere. The service was slow, and the waitstaff seemed overwhelmed. It took a considerable amount of time for our orders to be taken and for the food to arrive. The dishes, once they did, were mediocre at best. It was evident that the kitchen was also struggling with the rush. Despite the inconvenience the Host had a poor attitude. I had expected better service and attention, especially with a reservation. my experience was disappointing. Even with a reservation, we faced unnecessary delays, bad service, and mediocre food. I hope the restaurant can improve its management and customer service to provide a better dining experience in the future. read more

Raquel is an amazing waitress. She is very attentive and is very helpful. She does have good customer service

made a reservation for a big party got seated quickly, friendly atmosphere, great customer service would come again

Came here on a Friday night for my sisters birthday. We had made prior reservations which helped us get seated pretty quickly. Our server came and took our drink orders and when he came back we placed our dinner order. Then we sat and waited.. Probably waited about 45 mins before the actual chef came to prepare our meals. The chef was decent but it got super smoky inside. Our meals were suppose to come with white rice which we ended up getting at the end of our meal. The waiter seemed new, often forgetting about us. At the end which was our dessert our ice cream was already melted but was nice enough to sing happy birthday to my sister. Then we waited another 30 mins for our bill and to go boxes. Majority of the time we just sat and waited.. read more
