We went here for my grandma's birthday and I had a very great time. The food was good and to see them make it in front of your very eyes was a very good experience that I would recommend. The wait time was a little long but, was worth it. Chef Quail made my grandma's experience amazing! The waiter was also a very nice guy. read more

Precious the Chef was amazing. All of the food was so flavorful! We'll definitely come back in hopes to have Chef Precious to be our cook again. read more

I never imagined it would be so big. And very clean. Been here before food is amazing

I don't normally like to write negative reviews but I felt that this location specifically is just not good. This was my second time coming to this location, and on both occasions the service has been super slow. For this most recent dining, I found that service has been extremely slow. Our reservation was at 4:15, and didn't get seated until after 4:30, which isn't that bad. It got worse once we got our drink orders in, our drinks weren't served until almost 5:30. First course wasn't until 6 and our chef didn't arrive until after 6:40. Overall we were at the restaurant until 8 and just felt frustrated and unsatisfied with our meal. I do wanna say our chef, Austin, was awesome and accommodated our table amazingly. Austin understood the tables' frustration for the super slow service and made sure we had a great cooking experience! Though our chef was amazing, the manager that day (7/9/23) was not as accommodating and even got upset with us when we voiced our frustration. The food was okay and the ambiance was both chaotic and overwhelming. Overall...this location is not as great as other Benihana locations. read more

Be prepared to wait even if you have a reservation. My group's chef was Precious, my favorite chef. This chef knows and understands how to season very well, making each meal super flavorful. She works hard and her attitude towards her passion is evident. Thank you Precious. read more

Totally opposite experience from a few weeks ago, Oscar -the GM- made sure that our return visit was a positive and memorable experience. He provided us with Heidi our server who was at our table every few minutes and filling our orders in a very timely and accurate fashion. Super friendly. Our chef, Isaiah, was very young yet very professional, friendly, interactive and cooked a delicious meal. My whole party of 7 were pleased and we would come back based on this experience. Thank you Oscar for rectifying our previous experience and visiting our table to introduce yourself, adding that warm and welcoming hospitality Happy Thanksgiving 2022. read more

This was my first experience at this Benihana. My family and I enjoyed our meal together. Quail was so entertaining and a great chef. I love how different this restaurant was compared to others I have been to. The restaurant was much brighter, and I enjoyed the addition of an outdoor patio. Overall, it was a nice experience and we can't wait to come back. read more

The hibachi fried rice was so good. Our chef was hilarious and I loved how he made sure to include our kids into the jokes. My kids absolutely loved it! We actually ordered a ton of sushi rolls and all were tasty. The only reason 4 instead of 5 stars is that we had to wait quite a while for our Chef to come out. Other than that, it was a great experience. Everyone around at other tables were also very entertained and it was a good ambience. read more

Benihanas use to be one of my go to spots , this location in particular . However , I ordered delivery last night and it'll probably be the last time I eat Benihanas . Had it not been for the sauces , nothing would have had flavor . When your 7 year old says the chicken has no flavor , that's a red flag, ha. And the rice , it was too gooey . Maybe they gave us the bottom of the pan rice? Usually , the rice is a hit and one of my favorites . And don't serve me chicken fried rice with one piece of chicken in it . Even the damn salad had some old pieces of lettuce it in . Who f*cks up a salad ????? The zucchini , laughable. We ordered for a family of 4 , and have enough leftovers for 3 ppl. I should return this garbage and get my money back . This location can get 2 stars from me , the price is good and timely delivery . But quality has gone out the window. read more

My family & I always come to this location for the great service in Downey! Tonight the service was quicker than ever !

Having lunch today for my birthday and Brianna my server was awesome and very attentive. Manager Kevin was friendly.

They literally earned -0 stars today. Omg I Ordered today for Mother's Day exactly at 4:25pm and told my order is ready at 5:20. Come to pickup little past the time knowing they always run behind. Well guess what!?? It's 2hrs later and nothing ready. I call the restaurant to avoid a scene just trying to keep myself calm and not able to get through till like the 5th call. Then when answered, I was hung up on three times when they heard me complaining. I start calling them back and they just let it ring till it gets to a busy tone. I don't get it!!!! I understand it's Mother's Day but maybe in these occasions hire more personnel because clearly with the over charges on your food you can't Damn well afford it. I am beyond furious!!!!! I asked to speak to the manager and told she'll come right out and 30min later still waitingggggg! I called back and asked to check on my status... front hostess answers "oh I can't do that!" Whatttttt!!!!! This is just the worse experience ever here. Update: I received my food 2 1/2 hrs later read more

Horrible serive, communication. Reservations at 8. Seated at 815. We order drinks n food. Drinks take 20 mins to get. We wait another hour for food. Nothing. No refills no chance go order more drinks. No communication. We left. After asking how long n them saying not sure. Still charged us for this horrible service. And then gave us attitude after leaving at 945pm. read more

Had a really great time! The service was excellent especially our server Stephany. She was attentive and quick.

Horrible service, the place is dirty. I sat at the bar and waited for my appetizers for over an hour. The manager African American young man walks around eating and not doing anything else. The food wasn't great, actually there was a hair in the tempura shrimp. The bar it's very dirty and unorganized. I've never seen this in any other Benihanas. This morning place needs an overhaul. read more

The hostess advised us that they were short on cooks that evening but they were short on everything The service was awful, a beetle was on our grill which wasn't clean until our chef arrived at our table which took longer than 50 minutes without drinks even being served not to mention our reservation was set for 9:15, we still had to wait 25 minutes to be seated our server arrived at 10:22‍ Alejandro, was our chef ‍ and he was the bomb He actually turned my night around He was great read more

Came here for my sister birthday and we have excellent customer service! The food was fresh and the restaurant was very clean.

Selenia and staff were thee best we have every had the made our dining experience top notch and will def be back. Thank you selenia

This day just started bad, had a 5:30 pm reservation on a Sunday, my party arrived we checked in, almost a 1/2 hour later we were finally allowed to get at table. We sat down and one server told us that they would start our order because our server was busy, 15 minutes later we finally saw our server and he proceeded to take the same order order once again, they brought the appetizer and salad and then we sat there for over 44 minutes, we finally asked someone what was going on, our server never came to check on us and the chef was nowhere to be seen, they went to see what happened and after waiting for another 15 minutes and asking again, the server finally showed up to refill our drinks and the chef showed up. The chef was great, the food was great but the service was horrible, we did not start eating until 7:30, and even with this our server was never to be found, we had to keep on asking other people for refills, and we would be told that they would find him, he would come act angry like we bothered him and then he would disappear again. There was a large party next to us and they had no issues at all, they not only got there after us, but they got served faster, their servers were very attentive , unfortunately, we were not the only table with this issue, another table celebrating a birthday like us had the same issue where their server would disappear and were it to the chef over 1 hour to get there . We were very disappointed, we went to celebrate birthdays and what we thought would be a fun night was ruined by the incompetence of the people that work there. The only bright side was the chef Steven, he went above and beyond because he could feel the that we were not happy. Avoid this place, maybe a different Benihana's is better but I will never take that chance ever again. read more

The service is amazing and we were seated at exact time of our reservation. Benihana is the kids favorite. They serve good food and the chef is very entertaining. The garlic butter is to die for. read more

This place is nothing like it used to be. First and foremost the service is not the same, and the quality of food is nowhere near the same. They used to at least cook your food with the garlic butter. Now they don't cook it at all with the garlic butter. You have to get a side of it to even add that flavor, if you order, please make sure all your items are in the bag before you leave even the smallest things because it'll make a difference. I ordered lunch special and on the website is the Hibachi lunches come with us soup vegetables, and vegetable rice I got a salad because they said I didn't specify which it wasn't an option for me to choose because that didn't tell me that I was getting a salad at the initial time I ordered, when I got my food and went back to work, I was missing the soup and the salad had to go trash because the lettuce was bad. I called the location in Downey two times. They put me on hold for the long time to wait on a manager, they never came to the phone, I probably will never return to another especially the one in Downey. read more

Great food, great vibes, great service. You can't go wrong with venihana and downy thanks to our server.

We leave in the inland empire and we pass a few locations to get to Downey because this is my wife's favorite Benehanas. Make sure you you get your mushrooms if you order them because they have a tendency to forget them . The chefs at Downey are really creative and entertaining. The staff really tries to make sure you leave happy. The ambiance is fine and we had a party of 15 and they we more than accommodating . Any time want that Benehana experience we will make the trek down the 91 and go to the Downey location. read more

I gave a 5 star rating for our chef Sara! I have been to Benihana's a lot of times because people always want to go for their birthday! I always find the food (meats) bland and tough. The only thing I like from Benihanas is the rice with xtra garlic butter. Enter Sarah: my Ribeye was cooked and seasoned to perfection, and my shrimp were well seasoned and juicy! I HAVE NEVER EVER EVER ENJOYED A FULL MEAL FROM BENIHANAS EVER! Sara needs to teach a class on how to season the food and cook it to perfection! She was AWESOME SAUCE, and for that I gave FIVE STARS read more
