I had a very disappointing experience at Benihana while celebrating my mother-in-law's birthday. To start, I want to say the atmosphere and the food were great, and our chef Cameron was amazing no complaints there. Unfortunately, everything went downhill when it was time to pay. When we asked for the check, our server Luis brought a handheld device showing a total of $852, with no itemized breakdown and no option to review or add a tip. This immediately felt off. I went to the front to ask about splitting the bill between four people, which is a very normal request in the restaurant industry. The host gave us a hard time and insisted they couldn't split it, which made no sense. When Luis came over, I explained again that we wanted to split the check four ways. He suddenly said, "of course," which contradicted what we were just told. Then he asked me how much the total was which was confusing because he had the bill right there on his device. I had already seen the actual total was $719.33 before. He then took the device to the back, came back, and showed us $213.07 per person. That raised a red flag. I went back and asked for receipts and sure enough, he had added a 20% tip to all four cards without our knowledge or consent. I called the restaurant and spoke with the manager, Terry, who claimed that Luis told him we had agreed to tip 20%, which is completely false. Terry was unprofessional, kept stuttering, and instead of resolving the issue, asked, "well how much would you like to tip Luis?" completely missing the point. We were never given the option to tip in the first place. When I pushed for a resolution, he hung up. We even asked to speak with the general manager, Carmen, or at least get a reference number for the complaint, but that was not provided. As someone who comes from the restaurant industry, I find this behavior completely unacceptable. Adding gratuity without consent and then lying about it is dishonest and unethical. The lack of accountability from management made it even worse. Great food and chef, but extremely poor service from our server Luis and terrible management by Terry. I would not recommend this location based on this experience. read more

We had a small group of 5 people around 2:30pm lunch time. We inquired about the lunch menu but was only given the dinner option. From there things just seemed off. Because we just wanted a quick lunch and not dinner sized portions we opted for appetizers and fried rice. The chef was phenomenal and the server tried to be accommodating. My appetizer, the calamari was dry and overcooked. The Las Colinas location is my favorite and I've never had any issues there. I'm overlooking some slight issues with service because things happen. Overall not a bad experience not sure if I will visit this location again even though it's closer to me. read more

In a word, OVERPRICED. Nice table server/runner; manager checked in a couple of times which was nice; " chef " was okay - could barely hear him (needs to find his outside voice for this role). The food was okay - with the fried rice as the star. Salad was very dry and needed some " oomf " to be edible. Would recommend for LUNCH or HH to get your money's worth. read more

I had the chance to experience the Wagyu Experience at the Benihana Addison location with a group of amazing women, and y'all... it did not disappoint! From the moment we sat down, Luis (our host) and Chef Cam made sure we were taken care of. The energy, the attention to detail, the presentation -- everything was on point. We had two signature cocktails, an appetizer, and a full six-course dining experience, and every single course was delicious. The clarified butter? Top tier! The Wagyu was so tender it literally melted in my mouth -- and don't even get me started on the Lychee Martini and Prickly Pear Margarita... five stars all by themselves! If you're in the Addison or Dallas area, you have to stop by and try this experience for yourself. Ask for Chef Cam and Luis -- they made the night so fun and memorable. I'll definitely be back! read more

This is a frustrating review to write because the food and chef experience at Benihana are always great, but the service at this location has been consistently bad. And I don't mean once. I mean three separate visits. This is the Dallas location near the Galleria, and we've been here multiple weekend nights around 7:00. It's been surprisingly quiet every time, which makes the service issues even harder to excuse. Slow drink refills, the wrong drink brought out, no water, no plate, no napkin until I asked. At one point the server even forgot to write something down. It felt like we were constantly asking for basic things. To be clear, the chef was great and the food is always great. That's why we keep coming back. There's just no beating Benihana. The copycat hibachi places don't come close. The managers have been solid, which makes this more confusing. The issue has been the servers, and honestly they've just been bad every time. Fix the service and this is easily a four or five star experience. Until then, come for the food and the chef and set your expectations accordingly. read more

Benihana has gone downhill, got the filet and scallop hibachi filet was way over cooked and the 4 tiny baby scallops were way overcooked. Scallops were put on first and left cooking through the entire meal. My waitress asked if everything was ok I mentioned my food being pretty over cooked and she said if I want something free just ask. I wasn't looking for anything free I just expect a better experience and for the food to be cooked to the temperature requested. I ordered medium rare I'll let you be the judge of the temperature cook by the pics. Not sure if chopping the filet into half inch squares caused the overcook or what the issue was there. Finally our chef seemed to have prejudged our table because we got nothing similar to the tables show next to us. read more

Food was great, but the service left my husband and I appalled. Service: Very disorganized! We were seated at the bar. There was only 1 other customer seated at the bar, but 70% of the bar was full of dirty dinnerware, and glassware from previous customers. There were a handful of employees just standing around talking with each other. Our poor bartender was STRESSED. She had drink orders from the whole restaurant to fill, in addition to budding and serving the bar area. People were coming back to the bar complaining about their drink order and making her remake the drinks. Food: The food was good. It's your typical Benihana options. I ordered the 5 course chicken hibachi. Per the menu, this includes 1) soup 2) salad 3) shrimp appetizer & veggies 4) homemade dipping sauces 5) Green tea Our server forgot to give us our dipping sauces. Green tea is apparently "upon request". I don't think my fried rice was with $33! It was good, but not that good. Ambiance: The restaurant was not clean. There were a lot of dishes that were not cleared in a timely manner. We sat next to dirty dishes and cups the whole time we were there (1 hour of dining). I don't think we will be coming back! Overpriced for poor service and poor dining experience. read more

OMG; I'm still here and don't even know where to begin with this review. This is so embarrassing. My husband and I came here for our weekly date night and I'm still not sure what we experienced. We frequent Benihana and have been to several locations, but this is our first time at the Addison location and we are in shock. The wait was not long at all and I can see why once we got seated. Our waitress pretty much told us to hurry up and order our drinks, appetizers, and our meal or we would be waiting over an hour before the cook even comes out. She was VERY flustered and advised us that she was overwhelmed; she recommended that we go sit at the bar if we wanted faster service. Our drinks and appetizers came out the same time our cook came out. He was very nice and tried hard to accommodate our needs but you could tell he was just going through the motions. We sat next to a very nice family who was also trying to enjoy their dinner as well. Benihana this location should be ashamed of what we went through. Addison is a very popular Friday night spot and this is really disappointing. We were rushed, felt uncomfortable, and did not enjoy our experience here at all. I will never come back again or recommend this location to anybody. Yall should be embarrassed smh! Let's not talk about the food: my husband and I ordered the 5 course meal with steak medium well and hibachi fried rice with soup, salad, and veggies. The steak looked like purina puppy chow; it was so tasteless and chewy. We couldn't believe it. The family next to us spoke with another server and advised him they didn't like their steak either. We told him the same thing and he told the cook and they offered to recook the steak but it was already late and we had been waiting for a while. We never got any of the vegetables they stayed on the grill the whole time you could tell the cook was unable to multitask and distribute the food to each person as he was cooking it. I will say he was nice and he tried but it just didn't work out. My husband and I didn't even stay. We got up and walked to the front and asked for our ticket, paid, and left. Never again; Benihana is not cheap and should do better. read more

Very pricey. It was entertaining but there were birthday and things going on that our server seemed to be more interested in. Our "chef" was sweet but there was a timing issue. Once he got us our steak last, the veggies and rice were cold. I'm not sure what happened. It is extremely overpriced for what you get. I would recommend other hibachi places before this one. We've heard great things about Banihanas but I think those people must not like seasonings and spices because the food was very bland. The chef was very nice to our 2yr old and fun to interact with, but the restaurant as a whole is so loud. I wouldn't go there again. read more

Interesting situation. We celebrated my daughter's 8th birthday there. She got a tamagotchi for her birthday and wanted to bring it along. To no surprise, she left it. We called immediately when we got home and they said they'd keep it in the front for us. When I returned, I was told that a hostess was fired for playing with it and took it with her when leaving. No refund, no gift card, just a "sorry" Insane! read more

Easily the worst experience I've had at a DFW restaurant. 6:30 reservation for my wife's birthday. Arrived at 6:15 to check in and get a drink at the bar. After 45 min, we checked back in with the host stand, only to find out they were finally seating the 6:00 reservations...at 7:00. Staff was dismissive about the delay, which didn't help the situation. Made it clear that we wouldn't be seated until 7:30-8:00. What's the point of making a reservation if you can't honor it? Slight delays are understandable, but 90 min is unacceptable. We left at 7:15 and went to a nearby restaurant. Will never visit another BH establishment again. read more

The staff is friendly, there isn't a long wait for a Saturday, and the chef's tableside show is great, especially for the kids. The food isn't expensive for a Japanese restaurant; personally, I didn't find it very appetizing, (but it's not bad) and the process was a bit long. I made a reservation at Benihana for my mom's birthday, and while the food and Chef Cameron were amazing, the service at the end completely ruined the experience. After some confusion with our reservation (which they eventually fixed), everything seemed fine until it was time to pay. My husband tried to split the bill four ways, which is a completely normal request and was met with attitude from the host, who claimed it couldn't be done. That alone was already frustrating. What's worse is that our server, Luis, went ahead and added a 20% gratuity to our bill without our knowledge or consent. That's the reason no tip option appeared on the payment device. When we confronted him, he tried to pass it off as a "mistake," which is hard to believe. We called to speak to a manager and Terry handled the situation poorly. He was unprofessional, dismissive, and seemed more concerned about the money than the fact that his employee added unauthorized charges to our bill. This is unacceptable. Adding a tip without permission and then lying about it is dishonest. On top of that, the lack of accountability from management makes it even worse. I would not trust this location after this experience. read more

We made a reservation for 4:45 PM on Christmas Day. It is currently 6:32, and we are still waiting on drinks 45 minutes after placing our order. And they served us salads without letting us know that they had run out of all their dressings. I feel terrible for the staff, as they are the ones who have to deal first-hand with rude and entitled customers, even though these inconveniences are clearly the result of management seeking to cash in on a holiday by overbooking and understaffing as much as possible. I have never seen anything like this occur at the Plano location, so I know this was a deliberate choice. read more

Benihana's is always a great choice. Its interactive - fresh and you will almost always need a to-go box. This location has my heart because I bring my team here for lunches sometimes. DO NOT GO TO THIS RESTAURANT IF YOU WANT TO ACTUALLY EAT! We had reservations T 6:15 for our family of 11 to be together and enjoy the show. When we checked into at the desk, we were told they were running 30 minutes behind, We were finally seated at 7:00. A server came and took our drink orders and appetizers. After about 20 minutes, we were served our drinks and two out of three edamames. About 10 minutes later, we gave the server our food order and then we waited for a hibachi chef. At 8:15, we decided we had enough waiting and decided to leave. As we were getting up to leave, a manager came out of the kitchen to our table. He said he was sorry but the corporate office took away their taking their own reservations. But the bar was staffed with only two bartenders and obviously they did not have enough hibachi chefs for the number of reservations that were taken. We went down the street to Panevino Osteria where we were waited on right away, had our food brought to us and we were finished eating in 45 minutes. read more

I'll start by saying overall I don't think there was anything wrong with the food quality and our chef did good job at the entertainment part of the evening. By the time our steak was done the rice and veggies were pretty cold. Back home we have Hibachi and it typically costs us a little over 100 bucks but to spend 300 dollars and have a timing issue with the food and it really be no better than any hibachi I've ever tried was very disappointing. Way to expensive for what you are getting. read more

This building is a nostalgic part of history right here! If you've ever dined at the old Kobe Steaks then you know the true greatness we were able to experience for all those years. Anyway....Benihana took over this space after Kobe's closed in 2020. I am glad there is still a hibachi spot to carry on the legacy. I always come to Benihana around my birthday - make sure you sign up for rewards for a special treat. I've been to this location twice now since opening and both of my experiences have been pleasant ones. It is a little pricier than most other hibachi options but the restaurant is spacious. The grills are a decent size so you are not stuck elbow to elbow with the person next to you. Grab a hot sake and enjoy the onion volcano :) read more

Absolutely horrific customer service. Called 3 weeks ago to make a reservation for a party of 20 ppl. They took my name and number and said they would call to book the party. Never called. A week later, I again tried to call to no avail through the call center which is the only way to book large reservations. Then I called to speak directly to a manager at the actual location. She was able to get me a couple of tables, but with no guarantees that we would sit together. So again, I called the call center to speak to somebody who can handle helping me with this larger party. The rep that picked up the call said I would have to speak to a supervisor but she couldn't speak to me at the moment and took my name and number again. I never received a return call. Today I finally called to try and get a supervisor on the line and I got Dion (spelling). This man surely does not love his job. He had no care in the world that this has been an issue. Told me he could not help me with the situation and I would have to speak to Tara who is the event coordinator but wasn't there to take my call. Circles for 3-weeks and he didn't even care to make sure a customer would be happy with their service. This is for 20 ppl on a Sunday when restaurants are not busy and they just lost our covers because of TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE ALL AROUND. They have a 3.5 stars in Yelp and I would think they would work harder to better their all around service and not turn away business. But they did. We will never return, and neither will the other family who frequents this restaurant who asked to have the event there in the first place. We are all disgusted by this situation. I've already booked elsewhere because it's a Sunday. Too bad they chose to throw our business away. read more

Had a taste for Habachi and saw a $39 Special 5 course, served in the bar/lounge area not around a habachi table, which was fine. We walked in with reservations at 6, and was seated at the bar. Not a crowd at all for 6pm one other couple at the bar. Bartender unfortunately wasn't very friendly, almost stand offish:/ she took our order, recommended the Spicy chicken dumplings over the Pork, they were great! Crispy and could taste the filling and dumpling texture. My husband got the Spicy Tuna Roll, very disappointing:/, didn't taste very fresh, had to ask for Soy sauce and dish for mixing. The salad was iceberg, nothing great, with ginger dressing (which was drenched), both dinners one Shrimp and the Other Steak.. they were just ok:/ not the hottest food, a lil skimpy on the veggies, shrimp ok, steak slightly bland, but the fried rice was good! We had to ask for the sauces and our desserts, once again:/ needless to say, it definitely was not the habachi experience, and if you sit at the table the food comes out in waves so your eating fresh off the grill food at all times and you are usually served more per portion.. read more

First time at Benihana - Went with my boyfriend for lunch, we had a reservation and were quickly sat with another family at the hibachi table. Service started immediately. For drinks boyfriend got a strawberry margarita that he LOVED. We also got the pork dumplings which were good but not mind blowing. For mains we both got the Benihana Trio, Chef Camron was great! I'm not the type to write a review but I feel like I had to make this be known. We made a reservation for 8:30 for 15 people. When we got to the restaurant we had to wait 30 minutes after check in, just for the host stand to tell us we could either wait an additional 20 minutes for one table or split the group into 2. We decided to go with splitting the group into 2 because we couldn't wait any longer, they then told us the tables are on the other side of the building. We were not told this until the party was gathering. When making the reservation they told us we would be at one table so this was a surprise to us.
