If you're looking forward to some great Asian food. Don't go here. The restaurant was empty yet our food arrived barely warm and lacked flavor. Service was poor and slow. Then the icing on the cake is the "service charge". Our waitress said this money is shared with everyone in the restaurant. It is not her tip. Ours was $13 for 2 people who ordered 1 entree, 1 appetizer and one bar drink. I usually tip well, and would have tipped $15 for our meal. I'm not leaving almost a $30 tip on a $60 bill. Do better Benihana. read more

I have been to this location Benihana a handful of times. Did you know you can get an inexpensive and quick lunch that is the hibachi food, but you don't have to sit through the cooking?!? I have done quick work lunches here and it works out awesome! Win win! We went here last week for a large group birthday party... many times this results in chaos and a disorganized server and things get messed up... not this time! We had a rockstar waitress that handled our two hibachi tables and even separated our checks ahead of time. For food, I always get the Surf Side. This is the best variety of seafood for the price. I get the chicken fried rice (extra Yum Yum sauce... evil good and only in MN!). The hibachi meal is served with soup, salad, shrimp and veggies. It's been a long time since I've been here, but another great experience. Thanks again! read more

food tasted great and the chef was amazing but the customer service of the server was terrible and we had a reservation and had to wait 20 minutes after our reservation time to be seated read more

Been to Benihana's a million times. Food always tastes good/same. This time I ordered the Benihana's delight.$48. The mushrooms were super salty. Lobster was overcooked and dry. Steak was rubbery and not medium rare like I ordered. When I reported it, I changed my order to the Filet because it seemed thicker since they couldn't get the first order cooked right and it was too tough overcooked. They brought back overcooked filet AND lobster with burned shrimp. Manager brought me 3 properly cooked shrimp, but had the nerves to tell me that the meat was how they "normally" cooked it. I ended up eating a few pieces of meat and a couple bites of sides. The experience made me never want to eat at Benihana's again. My friend's steak was good. But his shrimp was burned. We paid $175 for a horrible experience. NOT WORTH IT. read more

Great service and yummy food and beverages. I had a delicious lobster roll and coconut mojito! McKenna was a fantastic server too!

Don't go here. Been around the world, and I have never really given reviews. This has to be one of the worst tasting food of my life. Government food is ten times better than this so called "food". The gyoza dumpling sauce was cold, the shrimp tasted like steak, and the fried rice was bland. read more

When we came in, we were told they were having a shift change and we had to wait an hour to be seated. When we asks why, we were told the bartender is about to get off and she will be upset if she gets another table! Huh?!?! Then we asked to sit in another section -- they had literally a bunch of tables open -- and we were too told no! I'm confused now. So we decide to wait and then another couple gets seated immediately that comes in a few minutes after us. So we leave and then come back at the start of the new shift. I asked to speak to the manager, I guess the staff spoke before we did, because when I spoke to the manager everyone was starring DAGGERS AT US! Then after the manager seldomly rectifys the situation, we sit at the bar... and the HOST and bartender literally walk around and talk so much crap about us in ear shot without a care in the world -- TALK ABOUT UNPROFESSIONAL! I asked the manager to at least Comp an appitizer for the service -- nope! This whole places needs re-staffing and costumer services classes! I will be emailing corporate! We felt entirely unwelcome, and despite the rude behavior -- because the bartender was very passive aggressive after the manager spoke to her -- we were still kind. But it was very uncomfortable! The worst part: everything is auto 20% grat and I assume you they didn't earn it read more

Great service! Jeremy was amazing! He hopped from table to table and took good care of everyone! He needs a raise! Fantastic food!

Your typical Japanese steakhouse experience, but Benihana is the OG. Our chef Charlie was fun with his culinary tricks. We had the lunch special with 2 proteins (shrimp/beef), veggies, fried rice, and salad/soup. Exactly what you would expect. Good service and nice decor. read more

They serve take-out food with hair in it and when I called the manager to discuss he didn't believe me and assumed I was just looking for a free meal. Very gross. We've been customers for 8+ years, but sadly not anymore. read more

terrible service avarage food but don't recommend, very rude and akward setting staff are rude

We have been here a couple times. We always do dine in, haven't done their hibachi table. We love their food! The service is always great- the staff are so nice! We will keep coming back. Last night we ordered a ton off the happy hour menu because we thought they would be smaller portions, they weren't! All servings were huge. Very satisfied with this restaurant. read more

Disappointed with my recent visit. We arrived, with a reservation, at 11:30 on a Saturday and a very awkward hostess told us that it would be a few minutes and they would call us back. She seemed pissed or just generally annoyed - either way - not a great start to our experience with the tone she conveyed. That same hostess sat our group at the hibachi table and very emotionless said "enjoy your meal", like she was forcibly on script. Just a minute or two later our server came over and asked if we wanted to order drinks and then immediately asked if we knew what we wanted to eat. I blankly looked around, as I hadn't even had the opportunity to open my menu yet, and she didn't offer to show us through the menu or point out any signature drinks or lunch specials. It seemed very very rushed. So we all scrambled to search for the food options on the menu and I just picked the filet. I then had to flag the server down later once I decided on a drink to order. THEN it took her mentioning to me 3 separate times that my drink wasn't ready yet, then when she finally brought it 15+ minutes later, she mentioned that she "sort of spilled the last one"... ummm ok. About 10 minutes into sitting at the table, the server came over and noticed my water glass was about half empty. She asked if I wanted more water. Uhh .. yes..? Then she continuously interrupted our meal 5+ times throughout the experience to ask if people wanted more water. Yes. We want more water. Just bring it. No need to ask, ever. That was honestly just so dang annoying an unnecessary. The sign of a tacky restaurant in my opinion. Once our chef came, he was confirming orders and we realized our server missed which people wanted chicken fried rice.. maybe it was because she was so rushed? Not sure why she was rushed in the first place. Then, in the end my friend didn't even end up receiving chicken fried rice so we waved over the server and explained the situation and just that we wanted to make sure we weren't charged for it. She was very frazzled and made us uncomfortable to be dining at Benihana. She came back like 5 minutes later and was like "there's extra chicken fried rice in the back I can get you some"... and we were like nooo... that ship has sailed. (+ we specifically asked to just make sure that we weren't charged for it!) Overall, the food was decent and our chef was friendly, but I would think twice before going back to Benihana. Seemed like a very discount lunch experience, when Benihana isn't cheap! Not sure if we ended up here on a bad day, but the host and server honestly ruined the experience. read more

Worst restaurant experience in a while, possibly ever. They say us almost an hour after our reservation time. There were dirty dishes piling up everywhere in the restaurant (on the bar, on trays next to our table). One tray was piled so high that the soup & salad bowls started falling off & shattering on the ground. They just left it there. They didn't bring everything we ordered. They tried to tell me that the bar was closed before our meal was even done. DO NOT go here. They ruined a perfectly good night that I was having at the mall with my daughter. read more

Sure enough the food was decent. But just that, decent, nothing great by any means. The service was very lack luster. It took forever for drinks to come out. And our appetizer soup and salad came after the chef started cooking. Not to mention the grill was dirty as we were seated. And we had to request for silverware. The server brought out the check before the table had even gotten half done eating along with To-go boxes. As the server was collecting the checks, he placed a dirty plate from a different table on our table and left it there as he did other errands throughout the restaurant. Definitely the second worst experience here at this location. The first being when we waited over an hour before our food show began. Definitely think I'm done with this location. The price for what we get is not worth it anymore. Paying over 100.00 for dinner and that's the experience, no thanks! read more

awesome cooking. food was great and it was very fun. Lucas was great. can't wait to come back.

Kevin the cook was AMAZING and Nate was Great !! I'll be back ! The food was so tasteful, the cook was so fun.

Lucas was amazing! We started with very incompetent staff up front. We were nervous that this was going to set the mood for the rest of our service. Wow, we were wrong! Our waiter, Isiah was very attentive and he made sure we didn't want for anything. Next, we had Lucas, who WOWED us! He was so great with the kids, kept us laughing and made our food very tasty. I've been to several Habachi restaurants in many states and Lucas, by far was better than any other place we've visited! read more

Writing this in real time. If I could give negative stars I would!! Flew home to Mpls to visit family and decided to eat here since were already in the mall. We usually go to the maple grove or Golden Valley location. We made reservations via open table for 2pm. The hostess said she couldn't find our reservation, even though I showed it to her. We were seated a little while later. It's currently 2:45 and the chef still has not arrived. Our server kept coming by saying she'd be with us in "2 minutes", it took 15 minutes to order water. We ordered cocktails, she came back and said they were out of that. We ordered again, same thing. Finally we said "what DO you have?" She said they had other things, we ordered cocktails for a third time, still haven't received them. Note, there are only two other tables seated and they are both done eating. The chef just arrived. He dropped a tray, picked it up and didn't wipe his hands. I had to ask him to! Update on cocktails: I HAD TO GO TO THE BAR MYSELF!!! The drinks had been sitting there for 20 minutes! The bartender remade them for me. The manager was behind the bar, heard the issue and didn't acknowledge me. Our server didn't even acknowledge the mistake, nor did she apologize. The chef just cut off the grill. I had to remind him that he forgot to cook a portion of our food (yakisoba noodles). He said "oh yeah that's right, you had the appetizer." We did, but apparently now it's an entree. As we are finishing up our meal our server has turned on her charm. We haven't seen her since the chef came out. Aside from refilling one person's water. Ma'am, you have done nothing this entire lunch service. We won't be back to this location. You would think with Mall of America being a tourist destination that the restaurant quality would be decent at minimum. Not here. Don't bother with Benihana. read more

#TTeatz @Benihana 5 Stars for my togo sushi platter. My favorite rolls: Spicy Lotus Tempura Roll -Krab† and cream cheese rolled in rice and seaweed, lightly tempura battered and topped with spicy tuna, krab† mix and sliced lotus root; finished with sweet eel sauce and green tempura bits. Chili Shrimp Roll -Krab†, cream cheese and seaweed tempura in a spicy chili sauce, topped with spicy krab† and shrimp. Dragon Roll -Eel, avocado, krab†, cucumber. Sumo Roll Baked -Krab†, avocado, cucumber, shrimp tempura, salmon, smelt roe, special mayo sauce. Shrimp Lovers Roll -Krab†, avocado, shrimp tempura, shrimp, cucumber. Egg Sashimi I really like the sushi here. But their service could use some TLC; There's always a wait here, even if you have reservations. I prefer sitting in the lounge, the hibachi is nice but I like everything to come out done so I can eat! read more

Our hibachi chef was outstanding. However, he was missing SO MANY THINGS on his cart and had to keep flagging down staff to bring him the missing ingredients. No shrimps at all for the table's appetizer. No chicken or shrimp for my Benihana Delight. No shrimp for my son's hibachi shrimp. The entire point of going to Benihana is to see the teppanyaki chefs work their magic - so I guess the extended time while he had to get our food prepared was ok, as we got more of a "show" than usual. I felt so bad for our chef... he was embarrassed and kept apologizing. Terrible waitstaff - talented chef. read more

Owned by Beni Hill and Hana Montana. Or is it Beni Ciodeltoro, and Hana Barbera? I'm not going to say anything drastic like it is worse than PF changs - but honestly I didn't find it to be much better. This is not my kind of place at all. Serving Asian fusion which is basically very westernized not particularly Asian food that doesn't do it for me. And it's pretty expensive too. Even for the Mall of America, it's still in a cheap area of Minneapolis so it should probably have more competitive prices but at least the ambience is nice. Hello, I would not recommend this place at all to anyone who wants a nice meal with your loved ones. On July 13th I was taking my partner out for the first time at mall of America and wanted to eat at a nice restaurant within the mall. We saw this place and thought the performance of the chefs were amazing and wanted to experience it ourselves. We did not have a reservation so we walked in not knowing what to do or ask for. The waitress looked busy and there were people sitting down in the waiting room, and so we assumed the waitress was busy. She was talking to this man who looked to be the person in charge that day and so we didn't want to bother the waitress until everything was settled. However, after waiting for a few minutes and exchanging glances, she still did not greet us or even asked if we wanted to be seated. So we walked up and asked if there was room for a table of two at the hibachi grill. There was then a group of waitress talking to each other giggling and not really doing their job. I don't care if they have downtime I just wanted to be seated at a table so I can eat a nice meal with my love one. Once we asked they said yes then decided amongst themselves on who was going to seat us. At this point it was annoying already and the atmosphere of this restaurant was not what it felt looking from the outside. As we got the table, it was cramped. The waitress decided to seat us down at a table that was super full! It was shoulder to shoulder with strangers at the table! There was no room to even lift ur arm up to grab a fork or spoon! I decided to not stay any longer as if we had stayed we wouldn't have been comfortable enough to eat at all! It's unacceptable to feel as if weren't even important enough to be given proper seating space let alone acknowledgement! BE WARNED once u sit down and order food you are FORCED to pay 20% SERVICE CHARGES on top of a tip if you want. I did not want to pay a 20% service charge for a service that wasn't even provided for me at the very beginning. DO NOT RECOMMEND! read more

You're knocking right on the door of being good, but it's just so dang bland and the sauce is kinda watered down compared to how I know these dishes are suppose to taste, maybe add more spices or something and it be genuinely great read more

Miguel was excellent and went out of his way to help make our son's birthday extra special! Thank you!

The ambiance was not that great. If you aren't in the chef room it feels like a cafeteria.
