The…read moreusual salon where I take my husband was booked for the holiday so I made an appointment at ST for him to get a buzz cut (he's partially bald). I informed them at the time of the appointment that he has moderate dementia. Also asked when I made the appointment if they'd trim his brows and was told yes. When we walked in I asked the stylist if she could also shave his chin since he has five o'clock shadow and his hair is coarse making it difficult to shave him with a razor. She agreed. He got the buzz cut - not the greatest - but nothing else. The stylist brought him back to the reception area and told me she couldn't shave him because he wouldn't lift his chin but cleaned up the sides. I was incredulous as nothing on his face was trimmed. I asked her if she could at least trim his brows. She got her scissors and a comb and trimmed the middle of his brows and told me I could do this at home. Poor experience, no effort made by the stylist to satisfy the client's needs.

Right uptown Mt.Lebo, plenty of parking on the street and in a nearby parking garage. The salon itself was very clean, and everyone working was very pleasant from the moment I walked through the door. My hairstylist had her mask on, which I really appreciated. My stylist was Lizzie. We had a mini consult when I first arrived to make a game plan for my mop, and she went to work. Again, my hair is blonde and getting highlights/balayage is always "refreshing" but is never a dramatic change for me. I was pleased to know that my Groupon covered balayage, because foils all the way to my scalp aren't my favorite, especially in the winter months! I've had my hair damaged in the past, so I asked Lizzie 3 or 4 times to check my progress (I was annoying, I'm sure) but I'm glad I did. My hair turned out great. The color was beautiful, and felt completely refreshed. I also really liked how Lizzie cut my hair! After checking out Yelp, I see some reviews here aren't the best. I can say that I had a much different experience than the negative reviews here. With blonde hair, I don't see "mistakes" as easily. Also, I was a hairstylist and was absolutely horrible, and eternally grateful Yelp did not exist when I was a hairstylist, it's truly a very difficult job and people are hypercritical with the way they look.

They temp you on arrival and ask the standard covid questions. My stylist was Kiersten and she was wonderful. Really funny, listened to what I was interested in, and gave great tips. I love my cut, she did an amazing job. The hair color is nice but not quite for me. But that was my fault for not knowing what I wanted in the first place. My blowout was fantastic and left my hair so bouncy and soft. I look forward to returning for another great experience.

A friend recommended a small shop in Bethel Park called Contrast Hair and Makeup. She mentioned that the owner and Stylist Rachel was fantastic. Since it was close to home I figured I would give it a shot. I called and made an appointment and got in a few days later. When I got there Rachel was extremely professional and the salon while smaller, was actually quite quaint compared to the big box shops. When I sat down Rachel asked what I was looking for. I told her I have been getting the same cut for 90% of my life and I was considering a change but I wasn't sure where to go. She suggested a modern hairstyle and while I wasn't 100% sure how it was going to look I agreed. She made sure to mention that even if I don't like it we would still be able to go back to my old style with no issues. After she did the cut I was on the fence about it, she told me to give it the weekend and if I still wasn't sure she would fix it no questions asked. So I took it upon myself to ask my friends and family what they thought and they all loved it. On Monday I called Rachel and told her that I really liked it and I was very thankful.

Unfortunately upon arriving, I was greeted by the receptionist who check me in clearly seeing I had my daughter with me and told me I could have a seat and wait. After waiting 10-15mins, I was then greeted by the stylist who should have done my service to be told they have a strict NO CHILDREN or guest policy and that the policy was sent over to me prior to the appointment via email. That if I could have someone pickup my daughter and they could perform the service. First I would like to address the fact the policy was not sent to me via email because upon booking they did not ask for my email. Secondly how disappointing that this is a women owned business and they chose to implement a no children policy. Sadly I can not base this review on a service that was performed but only on customer service and policy and I would not recommend this business based solely on the policies and the way this situation was handled.
